I'm still a lil' distraught over the fact that I spent $5 more than I had to at Tops yesterday buying beer Unckie knows what I'm going through, that's a 12 pack of Koch's Golden Anniv. to him. It's effected me so to the point whereas I can't even enjoy my beer now (I mean, I'll get over it... eventually). But right now, I'm sipping it, pinky out, trying to make it last as long as I can. And that's not right.
Unbeknown to Sandra, she was the reason I did not hand over my bonus card to the cashier for my discounted beer purchase. As I mentioned earlier, it was that evil cell phone, that technology for prying and "where are you?" that I had avoided for so long that finally did me in. Now, I'm no genious and can easily be distracted... it doesn't take much. One task at hand and that's all it should be.
Well, here's some other ways Sandra can distract me.
1. Dressing up in her Mary Ann outfit from Gilligan's Island. This is huge... couple that outfit with a coconut cream pie and I'm done for. I don't stand a chance. I'll take out the garbage at 4AM if I'm asked.
2. Blowing a soccer air horn directly in my ear. My only response after this happens is yelling "FIRE IN THE HOLE" and diving behind some stacked pillows by the couch. After that I don't remember my name let alone remember what I'd been doing (usually watching sports on TV).
3. Prancing around in her 2000 B.C. fir outfit (ala Racquel Welch)... I don't even know if she owns this outfit, but I've see her in it (in my dreams) and I'm just saying I've stopped mowing the lawn for 2 hours straight because of day-dreaming. It's sad.
4. Putting a chicken finger sub in purse and then running away from me. I can't think of anything else other than that chicken finger sub and eating it. I mean that's evil... she knows she can outrun me.
Eventually, I'll get over this feeling of being @#&% by Tops and their bonus card. But right now I'm still stingin' a bit inside. I'm gonna go get a beer now and try and put this whole episode behind me.

Sorry hun...I loaned that outfit to Adam--he wanted it for some reason.
a blog devoted to distractions, now that is newsworthy!
I am the beall endall of loosing interest! Ask my boss, my husband, my family.. Now what was I saying???
Only geo dressed as a caveman, UGH um NO!
Cell phone distraction solved, dont turn it on. I once traveled with a family member who never turned hers on, and she did just fine!
Here's to things that hold our interest!!! People we love, baseball games, a good book, and all and everything that peaks your interest!
off to work, to daydream the day away!
I'd blame the bonus card. Its just too complicated!
How's your office smell antie B? And what city is jll in? Jnna, any headway on a job for adam, amy or oliver?
Heard from Antie and Unckie -- they're doing great in the NYC area, though the game at Shea last night was "a little nippy". They're headed into the city today. Please keep them in your thoughts -- I worry about those kids in the big city!
KDH, thanks for asking, the smell of urine has finally started to dissapate, or now I am just used to it!
Jll, is in Baltimore. She is there til friday for a training session, and the only girl AGAIN in class, as she puts it.
Amy starts on Monday. Adm, no job yet, and Oliver, just being cute is his full time job!
UC&AP in NYC, and the Pope! I've got the rosary out, that is the only way they will survive! At least they saw the mets win!
Ironpigs 2-11! The streak has begun!
I worry about them in the "big city" too. I get a lil' nervous in downtown Tonawanda. Especially around the Towpath cafe'.
Our thoughts are definitely with them. How odd that they planned being in NYC as the same time as the pope. Or is it??? You know... Chuck Barris said he was a CIA agent. Could Unckie and Auntie be double agents?
Good Thursday morning!
Or in the Kaleida world, payday! See Amy, we get paid every 2 weeks in Kaleida, on a thursday.. my dad used to say about friday's when you got paid was "good friday", and on a friday you did not get paid was "passover" He was very religious!
So UC&AP are in the big apple. I wonder if they saw A-Rod's booming home run on 101st!
double agents, mmm maybe AP, but UC as james bond, not seeing that.
the weather this weekend is suppose to be wonderful! Enjoy it one and all!
IRONPIGS!
Absolutely gorgeous outside... I hate to jinx us , but I'm bringing out the lawn furnature.
Okay, that whole Tops deal that went down the other day was really bugging me (and probably KDH too). So, I went to Tops today and bought stuff even though we didn't need anything. I bought a package of apple pastry tarts, .75 lb of pistachios, pretzels, 4 hot dogs , and crab salad. And the first thing when I got into the line was turn off my cell phone, secondly I grabbed my bonus card from my wallet, followed by purchasing the reduced items. Lastly, I turned on my phone and walked out of Tops a taller, prouder, more accomplished man.
the morning after m&d were at shea stadium, I read in the paper wheresome poor fool feel off an escalator there and died. Of course, I just assumed that it was dad, given Holtz luck and all. Boy was I relieved when I heard his voice last night!
Did his voice sound ghostly coming from a nether world?
FRIDAY, sung to the hank williams toon of Its Friday, nothing expresses the emotion of Friday like country and western muzak!
So after reading adam and Jffs commments, all I can think of is that classic movie, Topper! Remember cosmo topper?? George and Marian Kirby are killed in a car accident and the only people that can see them is Cosmo! Very funny, even in grainy black and white! and george kirby was played by Cary Grant! ding dong, if you have never seen, I highly recommend!!
Enjoy the day!!!
you weren't alone in that worry, bro. Let me tell you!
Back from the big apple safe and sound and no escalator events to speak of. Field level box seats at Shea's about 50 rows from the field, happened to be in the first row just above?? a major concourse around the stadium. Saw mostly a steady parade of staggering fans, and enthusiastic vendors in front of us all night. Very disappointing for expensive tickets. Last night saw the iron pigs take one on the snout, but tickets were $9, could sit anywhere, the beers were half the shea price, and temp. wise it was like a summer nite. Much, much more enjoyable.beautiful here and hope it holds for the weekend.
9$ seats and cheap beer!
Show of hands, HOLTZAPALOOZA, Pennsylvania style, should be held at an Ironpigs game!
I've been up all night... is Jnna, home safe and sound?
A sunny saturday, who can resist!
A most enjoyable pre suite/sweet holtzapalooza evening was had by the koch's at dunntire, with nphw and his most fun family and MR FIXXITT! Of course there was no mrsfixxitt sighting as she is not a baseball fan!!!! Who could say such a blasphemous statement..
ANYWHOO, we traveled down to the big city last nite to catch an abysmal bison performance, but had a GREAT TIME! We also made friends with people who have a daughter in Pawtuckett, I think we set up a play date? not sure..
UC, Jff and I would like you to expound on your IRONPIG experience?
How were your seats? Tell us about the ball park? How was the parkfood? How was the beer? Parking? The team? How was the beer?
Today will be a great day, I can just smell it, cant you???
Ah yes, the "ironpig experience". a bit off the beaten path. are you staying there and driving home the next day, or driving home after the game? Important consideration since I did not know where the stadium was and we had a 20+ mile drive each way. If you are staying there I can let you know where to stay Watch your tickets carefully if you purchase at box office. was supposed to have seats 1 and 2 in row L--good sight lines--wound up in row C seats 7 and 8, way too low to see anything, but we just moved to empty seats up higher.Third base side, go for section 115, about even with 3rd base. $5beers were "excellent", and they didn't even ask for a bonus card. bud and budlight cans have Phillies logo on can..I took my ironpigs logo from my peanut bag, taped it over the phillies logo and, viola, ironpigs beer. auntie gave 2 thumbs up to the pizza, the "all the time" $2 hotdog was superbly prepared, and the little kids carrying garbage bags thru the stadium for trash deposits made me embarrassed that I had dropped my peanut shells under the seats. Grade: a very solid A from my minor league viewing experiences. You will love it. GO PIGS!!
just rolled in the door for all those who were wondering. What a night. What a night!
Foxy Brown was released from Rikers last night, so we had a few celebratory drinks on her behalf at Jakes'. No need to hail a cab home, since It's down the street from my house.

Please review the link below if you are attending the iron pigs game in July, so we do NOT have the same problem locating cotton candy as we did yesterday.
http://www.ironpigsbaseball.com/cocacola/concessions/
MY plans for an IRONPIG outing includes this: The Yankees play at 1PM on the 23rd, after the game and a small amount of sight-seeing we head out of the "big city" to Allentown to stay overnight (yes, accomadation suggestions are openly welcomed) where the Ironpigs play on the next day the 24th at 11AM and after the game we leave for Scranton where the Lil' Yankees are playing at 7PM that same night. Now that's a baseball trip.
I love the Ironpig beer idearer... That's my Uncle, always comin' up with his own souveniers.
Madison, Emma's new friend wants to hang out sometime. Maybe we can get them together.
That was me.
Now that is a PLAN! The stadium is on road south which runs off rte 22 between Easton and Bethlehem, but closer to Bethlehem. We stayed in Allentown which was a hike, so you will have to do your homework. There were not a lot of motels in the immediate area. Good luck, but it is worth it and the cotton canday vendors are numerous
what a gorgeous saturday it was, minus the yankee debackle, and sunday looks to be much the same!
how lucky are we.
Nice visit with my nphw and his lovely wife, daughter and my mom!
They were bar hopping and stopped by, my mom, she seriously just can not get enough draft beer!
I am feeling a bit sheepish with my fantasy team, as I stocked my team with Yankee arms, so today I am offering a 2 for 1, you can have ian kennedy and phil hughes for just about anybody!
FYI, there are some counterfeit Pope memorabelia being circulated, remember he only wears a WHITE chapel hat, not RED!
Rats! I bought the red one in NT yesterday. The seller said he wore it at a Cardinals game. I guess I got taken.
A very nice day indeed yesterday. Gram insisted on getting a bucket of wings at the Dockside Inn yesterday... she swore she was starving after I questioned the amount of wings. We later find out that she's supplying food for her love interest Boyd (the one with with the nice gams). Oh Gram.
That explains why the phone was not being answered on Bryant St. last evening, but not why the answering machine was turned off. Nphw jff is on just one continuing run of bad luck: first the tops beer and now the hat. Hang in there my boy, better times are a coming. Maybe a trade of hughes and kennedy for lester and bucholz? they are all doing about the same. Enjoy the day all for we all know what tomorrow brings
A work day??? Rats!
Picked up grandma to have strawberry shortcake at the house . What a great day. I don't want to go to work tomorrow ugh.
Ok so this was pretty funny..
Had gramma over for shishkabobs and strawberry shortcake, where she politely reminded me that she does not really like shishkabobs, could I just have chicken?
So jnna felt the need to jump on the webkinz bandwagon, and called emma, emma told jnna she could not get on the computer as her dad was on. Seriously we were in the middle of dinner, just finished our beginning meal prayer with the pope's words hanging in the back ground and geo who is mid chew hears that jff has been on the computer, flies out of his dinner chair upstairs to see what is going on with the HFFBL. It was very funny as I have never seen him move that fast before!
I swear I didn't make a move...
... but I'm going to.
YOU PEOPLE! Now I have to check to see what you are up to. Maybe I will call in sick.
Happy sunny Monday to one and all!
so what a glorious weekend it was!
And its still April, is this a sign of things to come??? Ahhh, we can only hope!
So, yea, george almost aspirating his sausage to get upstairs to see what "moves" jff was doing was absolutely hysterical! Gramma looked at me and said "what was that all about"? TOO FUNNY
Jnna and I were roaring!!!
My new distraction is the weather, when it is cold gray and rainy who cares if you are at work, when it is sunny and warm, who wants to be at work!
Enjoy the next 7.5, your getting paid for it!
I'm not sure what is worse...Coming back to work after a week of being gone for work. Or coming back to work after a week of being gone on vacation. Jff, what do you think?
A new Oliver blog awaits, and I am just going to say, no animals were injured or abused in the making of the blog. that is all I am going to say, that and how darn cute he is!
Gorgeous Monday, looks like the same for today! Enjoy it!
Wow, are you up this early all the time?
Jll, let me tell ya. I consider myself on vacation when I come home for lunch... and it's always, always tough to go back. So, what's tougher? It's the same, sometimes you just don't want to go back. But, as Mr. Fixxit told me when I broke my leg, "get up an walk it off son"... snif'
I'm sorry, I need a moment to collect myself.
Looks like a trip to Creasy funeral home today and the opportunity to try to figure out who all of these people are. Here's hoping that Mom knows or one of my sisters is there to prompt me. Another great day to NOT be working. Where, oh where, did I go wrong? And yes, my grandson IS an accomplished equestrian at the ripe age of 11 months.
So my brother was trash talking about my fantasy team today while we caught up with each other at the FH. Something about my ss being 62 yrs old??? This is for the Holtz family honor this week, as we go head to head!
so UC needed no introduction as everyone remembers him! Some things and people never change!
So I also saw my sister this evening and she commented to me about all the witty comments she leaves on the blog site???? I looked at her like she had 10 heads, I have not seen one comment in weeks, or Blogs even, she seemed stunned, according to her she posts everynite???
I WAS STOPPING BY THE BLOG SITES TO SEE IF ANYONE COULD OFFER SUGGESTIONS ON MY VEEP. I JUST NEED TO MAKE SOME NEWS SO THE SUN SHINES ON ME AND NOT HILARY OR OBAMA.
oh no! don't you just wonder where in cyberspace Mrs. Fixxit IS posting?? hope they have their antivirus and spamware up to date!
PLEASE PICK MY MOM SENATOR MCCAIN, PUHLEEZE!
Today I received my first Social Security check, which caused me to ponder.....
What if the hokey pokey IS what it's all about?
AP, very funny!!! And yes I agree the Hokey Pokey is what its all about!
So while checking my cell phone after the funeral I saw I had a message from the administrative offices of Kaleida, mmmm what did they want??? So once I got home I called, and quess what??
I got the job at Millard Fillmore Suburban!!!!!
So as I wing my way to the top of the corporate ladder, I must admit I am a little jealous of AP's SSI check, but very excited for my new adventure!!! Thanks Aunt Lil, I know it was divine intervention!!!
KDH, I was wondering the same thing. On who's blog is my mom posting.... and do they think she's funny?
Congrats Auntie B, the next round of drinks are on you.
Such exciting news today as we sent Aunt Lil off in fashion. This morning we went to the funeral in which I could barely hear the pastor due to Aunt Sue's growling stomach and the gentlmen behind me who said, "This is the best funeral I have been too." We were the second car in a police led procession to the gravesite and came home to the exciting news to mother's new job and Auntie P's SS check.
Perhaps Aunt Sue has been adopted by a new family.
Way to go Sis!! It will be lots of fun watching you pretend to be a member of Red Sox nation.See, good things do happen to good people. I must confess that I have never been to a louder wake than the one inhabited by lots of Trosins. Let's see, the last time I saw Laura was 1962 and she was the blushing bride at the wedding of the century in Harwood, Ontario. Aunt Lil was "good people". I still remember a trip to Rice Lake in '64 with a few of my miscreant friends when she refused any cabin rent money for the weekend and was more than generous with her hospitality. RIP Aunt Lil, you were one of a kind. And let me add my "where in the h-e-doubletoothpicks" has my sister been posting, and didn't she ever get suspicious that none of her comments ever showed up? Why didn't someone take Mom out to dinner? She said that she was bored.
Bro, if you thought it was loud last nite you should have sat infront of you sister today! I thnk she ate redbeans and cabbage for breakfast!
I am very excited for my new career adventure!
Jnna ran out of the house to take gramma for ice cream.
My sister, sometimes I scratch my head. Cuz I said to her do you not go back and read what you posted? Do you not look to see if your comments generate discussions or new fans? Her comment was "no"
Its all about the comments, sis, its all about the comments!
I wonder if I will be allowed to hang my derek jeter calendar? And bring my jorge posada mouse pad?
We'll have to get you a HUGE Yankee banner to hang in your office. Red Sox fans love that. Oh, they may say they don't... but deep, deep down inside... they love it. Oh, they love it.
Zach is getting better with his batting practice... it's good to see. And it looks llike he's getting more confidense.
Have a great day all.
happy thursday..
so the sun is out, and all is right with the world.
one year ago it cost me 30$ to fill my baby grand am with gas, this AM it was 42$!!! UGH..
Isnt what mrsfixxit posts so funny, I am just going to say that so she thinks she is posting.
Gramma was a little sad, which she admitted, so we all need to take turns to cheer her up! Oliver, your up! And all you have to do is smile! That makes my day!
get through the day people, cuz we all know what tomorrow brings!!!
Went to Oklahoma City yesterday. I flew into the Will Rogers World Airport. With a name like that you think it would be an enormous airport! No it was just 20 gates, i don't know if that could accomodate the WORLD! Nice airport though, fairly new and clean.
I had to listen to a cowboy on the plane talk about how San Francisco and the State of New York are going to ruin the presidential election. Who knew San Fran and NY had so much pull?
Yay Antie B! Big congrats -- big big congrats. Here's to hoping your new office never smells like urine.
Betsy~So more details on the new job. Like when do you start and what will your job entail? I'm very happy for you!
antie b- any way you can hire a nutritionist and a teacher? we're big red sox fans!
http://jaymnews.blogspot.com/2007/07/new-web-pick-award.html
My website was chosen as the best new website pick of the world, come check it out!
Boy, that's kinda conceted. Where'd we finish?
Liriano got rocked today and I fell from 3rd to 6th in a blink of an eye in my other fantasy league. Should I go into the clubhouse and start throwing things around?
Amy I forwarded your resume over to my good friends at Catholic Health. I will definitely follow up. I should go into head hunting.
So here we are at fabulous fantastic friday!!!
Amy's resume has been circulated throughout Kaleida, she could start tomorrow, Adm I will need to check your referances..
So who is doing what this weekend?
Anything fun, exciting and exhilirating? Yea, me neither.
I understand we have birthdays, Zach and Amy, happy birthday!
enjoy the day one and all!
AP, my new job is Director of Medical Records at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, sounds impressive doesnt it??? My quess is it must be a pretty tough job, cuz no one else wants it! We will see...
You'll do great.... do we get pens?
I'm thinkin' a party to celebrate my baby sis' new assignment. Are the Bisons in town? Muckdogs haven't started yet. What other options are there? Here's hoping for a good weekend weather wise. Enjoy it one and all.
I'm always in for a themed party (my last party, dress up as your favorite Revolutionary War hero's wife) didn't go so well. There was some confusion on John Adams' significant other. We had a melee'.
Definitely a CONGRATS party is needed.
A party?!!! Count me in. Who is picking up Grandma? Or aren't we telling her?
Good morning everyone. Looks like its going to be another nice day. Happy Birthday Zach (11), Wow! I remember when I was.... Ummm... actually I think I blocked those daze out. Something must've happened.
I'm taking it on the chin to the Bad Gnus Brewskis this week. Hopefully with two days of games left I mount my incredible comeback.
A most happy birthday to both my daughter in law and my grandnphw and hoping that you both have great days. Nice start to the day, but looks like a little "moistness" down the line. enjoy it all
Happy Birthday Amy and Zach!! I hope your both enjoying your day and you get exactly what you want today.
Emma, don't pack a lunch for our field trip. I am taking care of that.
For those who don't know Emma has invited me on a field trip on May 6, yeah that will be a blog!
Is Gram going? She'd need a lunch too.
Gram will only go places where lunch gets served by a waitress or waiter. I guess we can count her out.
Mom feeling under the weather today, she wanted me to say hi.
Getting ready for the big move this summer-Glad I decided to check in this evening.
The good news Fargo is that you will probably save some packing space not having to take all of those parkas, mukluks and foul-weather gear with you. sounds like a big garage sale coming. Another nice one here today, but then a week of rain? My little sister has been putting it to me in fantasy. That posada three run triple hurt a lot yesterday. Oh well, maybe today will be better. Guess I need to get the lawn cut. have a good one all
feeling much better today, after a 48 hour something or other that totally put me on the couch all day. But I do not mind watching tv all day, sigh... I love tv..
I hope zach had the party every 11 yr old boy dreams of!! Amy I hope you had a great day, and got everything you hoped for!
So a party to celebrate my big promotion!!! That sounds like fun!
lets face it, it is all about me right now, just kidding
Fargo, isnt it easier to plan your move south while shoveling???
If we can help. let us know!
My sister is a very hard worker!
So after the sudden passing of Aunt Lil (she was 95), I was thinking of taking gramma away for mothers day. In Lancaster Pa, there is a hotel made out of Train cars, it is not that expensive, they offer a meal in a saloon, have buggy rides through Lancaster,
They also offer card games in the saloon, It is redcaboosemotel.com.
I think she would like that??? Any one else think she would like it??? The only thing it is a 61/2 hour car ride?? I am a little leary of that.
Why did my brother feel the need to say "moist" on the blog? ewww that was just wrong.
Geo just screamed from downstairs, buffalo must have taken the defensive end.
have a great day, doesnt look moist here???
For the record Unkie said "moistness" not "moist" just wanted to clear things up.
I hate that word too antie B. In any form!
Moist is a most useful word. where would towelettes be without it? Not everything is "wet", nor even "damp". The language is all that we have to separate us from the lower animal forms. How about crotch? Doesn't really apply to the weather, but I know that my daughter has issues with that word. Lancaster is nice, particularly at this time of the year, but it is 320+ miles and there isn't a lot to do besides shopping but that is certainly a nice thought.
ewww crotch is even worse! It rates rite up there with weepy and oozzy!
