Our trip to Allegany

I just had to try it.

I have a new toy (thanks to Sandra's generosity) and while down in Allegany I took loads of videos. This lil' guy on the other hand made me a little nervous. I never trust anyone who hides there eyes.

Jff-You sounded like a girlie girlie! Made me giggle!

Adam just left for the hospital. Today's the day they rotor router his sinuses.

Oliver, PopPop and I are heading over to Gymboree to distract us.

Today is GG's 30th B-Day and we are headed to the Adirondacks tomorrow morning for some camping. Hopefully we will get some good weather.

kdh said...

Jll, I read GG as gramma, and I thought you were shortchanging her by about 62 years. Not sure pregnancy is doing anything for my overall intelligence.

happy birthday GG -- have fun camping. Fingers crossed for good weather.

That is what I am here in new england. Adam is back home looking like his face stopped a line drive. My knees are taking a beating trying to keep up with a 2 year old. Will hope that Adirondack weather is better than here. Monsoon yesterday, 70's and 100+% humidity today. Can't wait to see what tomorrow holds.

jt said...

Hopefully, Adm is feeling better and closer to his old self in about a month. Maybe we can pitch in and get him a t-shirt that reads. "I took on Cam Neely and lost".

Hopefully, Jll has good weather in an area known for it's crappy weather.

Hopefully, Good Gary enjoys his 30th birthday and not many locals call him GG.

Hopefully GG gets a new nickname.

Hopefully, KDH stops losing brain cells.

jt said...

Thanks Auntie P... that's exactly the sound of distress I was going for.

Betsy said...

Happy Birthday future SIL
Adam I hope you are feeling better!
Its a good thing the sux are in second you wont have to tilt your head down so far as to read the standings!
KDH, should you really blame gray matter loss on pregnancy? mmm maybe you are thinking for 2..
enjoy the evening

well, I'm alive and semi aware of my surroundings. Can't say thats too bad for 20 hours post operation. I do look like I went 10 rounds with 1988 Tyson. but mom and dad are having a blast making fun of me.

big pop said...

Well, it's 10 am and we have been up since 6 running errands, taking adm to the dr. and now it is off to gymboree. That means an hour of chasing oliver over a very large room as he goes from one activity to another. Oh, my knees!! Looks like 1-3 inches of rain here tonite and tomorrow. What's not to like about new england? enjoy the day all.

jt said...

Glad to hear that you're in good spirits Adm. '88 Tyson (pre- Buster)... ouch.

Is it raining out? I just can't tell anymore.

Betsy said...

gymboree??? Now that sounds like fun!
So we are busy planning an engagement party, and we have a few obstacles to overcome.
Number 1 is the rain, which has been relentless, and number 2 we have a momma skunk and 3 babies living in our back yard, I know I know so cuteeee!
Rain Rain go away come again another day, not to soon not to long just another day!

Betsy said...

so just a few tid bits to send out there.
cookie and good gary's vacation did not start to good, as they went to pull out of the driveway, gary's truck would not start. So there was a momentary delay there.
and just a quick comment, I don't believe my bro has ever mentioned twice on one blog about knee pain, Has he AP?
Still raining, who knew that opening a can of primer would cause such a deluge!
Enjoy the next 7.5!

no rain here in the ATL -- ya'll gotta move south! I do have a little problem today thought -- I skipped out of work yesterday afternoon to go to an "accountant" meeting. Of course, said meeting was held at Turner field and the accountant named "the giants" handed the accountant named "the braves" their ass, 5 to 1. The problem is today -- I'm wicked sunburned. How do I explain to my staff that I got a sunburn discussing quickbooks in a stuffy conference room somewhere? Do you think I should take today off too, perhaps for an "HR" meeting?

big pop said...

Sunburn is not a problem here. Local pharmacies are sold out of the lotion needed to prevent moss from growing on the skin. Haave not seen the sun since monday's golf outing. Hope that it is warmer and dryer where the campers are headed. Can "kneezles" be life-threatening?? Looks like maybe a trip to the mall today for a walkaround. It is friday and here's hoping that we see a weekend weather turnaround. I thought that K knew better about sitting in the sun field, but the good news is that Adm has sensed an airflow thru his nostrils, something mssing for a long time.

Super busy day.
My mother called me she has not been out of her apt since last thursday! She has tons of stuff to do!!! AND I have to paint!
gotta go
enjoy the day and all it brings!

jt said...

Wow, someone was up early.

KDH, just explain to your staff that it's not a sunburn and you have no idea what happened... just keep denying it and say it with authority.

We're off to Watkins Glen too get soaked. I can see this camping trip with us eating out for dinner every night.

adam said...

well, father just left for home- 8 hour drive in front of him. My wife and my mother have absconded with my son, leaving me here to fend for myself. I'm so cold... so scared...

unk said...

Back in Wny. I am glad to see that my son was able to get in his house and respond to the blog. When I left him, there were 2 young gentlemen that had stopped their truck in the middle of his street and had any traffic flow completely blocked both ways. One was lying on the road behind the truck, the other was standing there. I guess that if I had been a cop, I would have likely asked them the kinds of questions that might have led to another "incident" like the one that occurred a few miles away from adm in cambridge, mass. Does my mentioning this incident make me a "profiler"? Any word from the campers or the birthday boy?

Betsy said...

Bro, how was your drive home? Hope you dodged the tornado, the rain and everything else that mother nature has thrown our way.
Well I did get my Mother duties done, as we did tops and library, but alas no painting! How do house painter make any money? All it does is rain!

Jill said...

Back from the Adirondacks!!! we had a great time. It was beautiful every day except for the rain that came in Saturday night and in to Sunday morning. But 2 out of 3 nights with a camp fire is pretty good.

Betsy said...

Oh to glorious Monday, yea who am I kidding!
so a paint brush did not touch the shingles this weekend, as it was impending gloom and doom for 2 straight days!
But scrapping did take place. so that is house update.
Engagement party for the newly engaged couple. With everyones super busy schedule, we are looking at the 22nd of August. 4PM at 431, tentative of course to change on everyone's availability, well Jill and Garys availability any whoo...
enjoy the sun today, is there any?

Betsy said...

Adm,
My daughter dragged me into the face book world, and I saw where I could send you a virtual "beer"?? I tried to do that, and then it asked me for my credit card number, which I quickly obliged ( No, I did'nt) I quess I need an inservice??

unkie said...

I am glad that the campers enjoyed some reasonable weather, at least better than Corfu. Man, what a mess out there. Sorry for the painting problems. I know that some of the summers that I did it, there seemed to be a machine out in michigan creating low pressure systems and rain on like a daily basis. No fun. Auntie remains on Oliver duty until tomorrow which gives me 24 hours to get some things done. Enjoy the monday all. Looking forward to the engagement party!

2 parties in a row! Now THAT'S the life I want to live!!

Amy and I worked on the invitations for the 15th and I mailed them this morning. (Sorry about your invite, Jeff but Oliver felt it needed a few wrinkles. ) Linda reminds you to bring your bathing suits for pool and hot tub.

Jill said...

New date on the engagement party since Aunt Sue apparently has better things to do on the 22nd. Does the 8/29 work for all you locals?

Betsy said...

Just an FYI, only rescheduled as AS is bringing the potato salad.
Dont want you to think the whole party revolved around her! Well it just revolves around her potato salad!

Jill said...

Disregard...We are now doing the party on Saturday Sept.19th.

adam said...

is there a possibility that the engagement party might be held AFTER the wedding? things seem to be trending in that direction.

I noticed the blog has some Tonawanda locals, please report any suspicious items missing from your refrigator:

CRIME: Tonawanda man faces felony burglary after string of bizarre incidents

A City of Tonawanda man stands charged with multiple felonies after police say he broke into several homes early Saturday, stealing, among other things, a large bowl of macaroni salad.

Anthony P. Perrello, 27, 219 William St., upper, was charged Saturday morning with three felony counts of second-degree burglary, two counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief, two counts of petit larceny, trespassing and falsely reporting an incident.

Perrello’s ordeal started about 6 a.m. when he flagged down an officer patrolling at Main and Roosevelt streets. According to City of Tonawanda Lt. Fred Foels, Perrello appeared heavily intoxicated and disoriented. He told the officer that three white men had beaten him up and that he had lost his cell phone during the altercation.

Perrello was brought to the police station as the apparent victim of a crime, though as the investigation deepened, he would eventually become the suspect.

According to Foels, officers suspected something wasn’t right with Perrello’s story from the beginning. Their first real clues came about 8:15 a.m., when police received a call from a resident on Clinton Street reporting a break-in. The resident said someone entered a window and took a bowl of macaroni salad in her refrigerator.

The salad, according to Foels, was to be brought to a funeral breakfast held later Saturday.

A second call came into police a short time later from a resident on nearby Hill Street. There, police found the missing macaroni salad in the driveway — partially eaten. The Hill Street victim reported having a bottle of raspberry vodka and a block of butcher’s knives stolen.

It was at the Hill Street house that detectives began to suspect Perrello had been involved. A cell phone matching the description he had given police was found at the Hill Street house, according to Foels. Officers also found a button on the window sill the suspect had used to gain entry, which police later found to be a match for a missing button on Perrello’s shirt.

Two other burglary calls were eventually fielded in the same neighborhood, both on Roosevelt Street.

When officers began questioning Perrello, according to the report, he broke down in tears and confessed.

“What the (expletive) is wrong with me?” he allegedly told officers. “What am I doing?”

Perrello admitted eating the macaroni salad. According to the police report, he commented to officers on “how tasty” it was.

According to Foels, Perrello was “quite intoxicated.”

“He said when he drinks, sometimes he blacks out,” Foels said, adding this was one of the more unusual burglaries he’d seen in some time. “What significance is that stuff (he took)?”

Perrello was held for his arraignment in city court, where bail was set at $5,000. According to Foels, Perrello was unable to post the bail and was taken to the Erie County Holding Center pending a Tuesday court appearance.

You know...I should have just kept my mouth shut. Date was changed again. I am not even going to say what the date is because it may change again after that! So you will find out when you get an invitation.

jt said...

Ahhhh the Oliver touch... I love it and can't wait to see his artistic hand at work.

We're back from Watkins Glen and needless to say (because I'd be repeating the summer statement) we got a little rain on us Saturday and Sunday (little rain, let's call it a Seneca Lake hurricane)... Monday was gorgeous though. AND I got to drive on Watkins Glen racetrack, yeah I did!

Betsy said...

Just had lunch with my daughter to iron out all the engagement party details! It will be a glorious celebration, we hope all can attend! Oh the date, ??? invitations will be going out this week.

adam said...

Adm, it was too long to read!

jt said...

Yeah, I got bored reading after the first paragraph, too long.

Still on vacation and enjoying myself. The kids and Sandra are going blueberry picking and I'm either going golfing or fishing. That's my day in a nutshell.

betsy said...

so here we are at Wed! Now thats fun!
we have called the trapper twice to remove pepe le puew and her brood from the yard, still no response!
so we may need to add 4 more guests to the EP.
Plans are falling nicely into place thank you very much! And nephew and lovely wife are sponsoring the beer tent! A most generous offer, thank you!
Cookie is in Norfolk Va today.
So she wont be any help.
And Bret Favre is staying retired, and thats the way it is...
I think after Guess what Holtz, ending our blogcomments with Walter Cronkite sign off is another fun game, so say all???

Mom check home voicemail and skunk lady called back. She charges to catch skunk but said the skunk are in the backyard because of our "grub."

I am just the messanger!

Betsy said...

MESSANGER??? who is this girl?
grubs? we have grubs? That is what has enticed pepe la peww?
Well we are off to depot for grub be gone!
And we rec'd our invite today, they were sooooo adorable, great job Oliver, as we know you helped!
Guess what folks, its raining, I know I know, me too!

AntieP said...

When can we expect our invites to the EP? What can Unkie and I do to help??? What can I bring???

unk said...

The Bisons won, the beer was cold and it was a most pleasant day at the ballpark. Who could possibly complain about summer in WNY? Maybe the solution is a trail of grubs leading to the shore of the mighty Niagara--then so long pepe and friends. i will have to check with Rod to see what he did on his long term battle with the polecats of Elmwood Park. I will report ASAP. We have five weekends in August. I am predicting a weather turnaround.

Betsy said...

good morning!
Well we have a full paint crew today, and I think we can bang this out, as the kids say!
AP, thank you so much for your offers to help for the engagment party to end the summer. I will definately take you up on your offer, I have you on speed dial!
It is suppose to be a rain free day, enjoy it people!

Anonymous said...

I don't see how there can be any reasons NOT to have the most productive of painting days on what is going to be a great summer day here in WNY. I only wish that I was in the middle of a paint job so that I could take advantage of it. Enjoy.

unk said...

Oooops, that be me. It is still a nice day though.

IN the dog house MOB said...

So I am totally in the dog house for abandoning the paint crew yesterday to partake in the Ken Ton Garden walk with my sister.
So the bride is a little anxious that all will not be completed in 25 days. Lets see where is my job jar??? Better get started, no church for me today NO TIME..
Oh and my sister insists, that she "publishes" the most witty of comments. Has anyone ever seen them???
Thats what I thought..
enjoy the day, family, friends and fans of the blog

Rainy day here in the ATL -- 90% humidity. At least the temperature is only 75 degrees ... for now! I don't like gardening much, but I'd pick gardening over painting any day -- so I'm with you, Antie B!

Jnna said...

I am pleased to report that the painting crew began working as scheduled this AM. As we were preparing to venture up one more step on the ladder, mother nature knocked us down again!

T minus 13 days til Baby Shower
T minus 27 days til Engagement Party!

Betsy said...

We were so incredibly close to finishing yesterday. Then the rains came! foiled again..
Oh well, saturday was a beautiful day!
Hope everyone enjoyed the weekend.

unkie said...

Well, at least you had a full work crew for the entire day on Sat. to allow you to get as close to being done as you are. Ooops, there wasn't a FULL work crew on Sat? Where did I hear that???? It's Monday, in case that you didn't notice, and I started my week chasing the garbage guys down Grover Rd. as they arrived 2 hours earlier than usual. It wasn't a pretty sight.

Betsy said...

Early garbage men, that is the worst! Hope you caught them, if not just take your garbage to the Absolut dumpster, not a big deal
Home, painting today. Not that is the worst to take a vacation day to paint! UGH no double UGH
Happy Birthday Adm, hope you have the bestest of birthdays!
