Well, I guess that money does talk. Thanks nc jnn for bringing back lots of memories from another great day, but did you have to finish with that gift on display? I know, I know how happy AB was with her gift, but...
finally Christmas pictures, soon to be replaced with pictures from our MLK extravaganza, I am sure Great job, seems like so long ago, even thought I just took my tree down yesterday! Moving on to Holtzapalooza, do we have a recording secretary to keep track of the meeting minutes and to keep us on track? I nominate Mr Fixxitt as he has such nice penmanship!
I think that I should never see, and evening so lovely as Friday nite, doesnt rhyme, but oh well! As MLK is not a Kaleida Holiday I will be working, no 3 day weekend here! No big plans, niagara hose has chowder tomorrow. Austin is coming over for a surprise birthday party for charlie, geo is working all weekend, I think I will dust, yup that is what I will do dust enjoy the evening
Heard that Unky and AP have arrived safely in chilly-lanta And Unky is out driving around as we speak looking for a golf course! Happy Belated Christmas, K, CJ, Eric and Jefferson oh and monty too! Perfect day to read a good book!
Yesterday I bought Emma, Zach, and myself ice skates (Sandra didn't want a pair) and we went over to BIL's house to go skating on his pond. What a day. The sun was out and the kids and I had too much fun skating. I'm not a strong skater but I love to do it. AND Zach, holy cow, he was flying around the pond. We're going over again today (Thanks MLK Day).
Is'nt that what MLK day is all about? Spending time with family and friends, just enjoying life! Dont forget about Ives Pond jff, oh wait do they still flood that? I think the fixxitts should build a rink in there back yard! complete with a zamboni! Cookie off to vancover this AM, she is very excited to see summy on the companies nickel and eat dim sum! I can say with the utmost certainty that the walk up Ellicott to BGH this AM, was the coldest in the hx of me walking up ellicott to BGH, brrrrrrrrrr enjoy the day all
Maybe our new family tradition will be to combine MLK day with Christmas, or maybe not. Back in WNY after a great weekend. thanks to everyone's generosity, there were lots of gifts for CJ and Jefferson to open. The weather down there did warm up and I only had to drive to Macon, 80 miles south, to find an open golf course. Back to work, but i guess that we did dodge a couple of really cold days. Two weeks from tomorrow is Groundhog Day. Anyone else who can't wait? Travel safely nc jll.
Welcome back Unckie and Auntie P... hope you had a nice time. I'm glad you got your golfing in. 80 miles is a small price to pay to keep such a momentous streak alive.
Back to work after an enjoyable day off yesterday. I just got word from my dear wifey that Emma is home today with a cold. Poor lil' pumpkin.
Home with a cold, ugh! Welcome home bro and lovely wife Glad you had fun! Hope it felt like Christmas, complete with a ham dinner and Christmas music, and nog of course! Cookie safely in Vancouver, and it looks like they want her to stay a few days longer, which is not going over well with her! I think for Valentines day, Jff should buy his lovely wife ice skates!
Holy moly -- what a January Missmas celebration we had. You guys are too too generous -- thank you very much. We'll be home soon to see you all in person -- expect action photos of the kids using your presents via text very soon. Everything was a HIT!
House is quiet without Nonna and Big Pop around. We had a great time.
great new Caroline blog, for interested readers. So cookie is still in Vancouver, and I know for a fact that she is not happy about that! Another crazy weather day, rain, ice, sleet and that was only in my driveway! Its wed, and there really is not to much to say about wed, now is there, only that it is closer to thursday, which is closer to friday than Monday How are the quincy holtz's How are the ea holtz's how are the NT rice's have a productive one
Wow!? No mention of the Tonawanda Rice's? We're okay, if anyone cares (just kidding, I'm really not that hurt... 'snif'). Emma's all better, I think she REALLY enjoyed her day off yesterday. Every now and then you just need a day to chill out and put your feet up. And trust me, her feet were up. It's hard to imagine a 10 year old girl dominating a sofa but she did it.
Palin has more than one book out? I guess I just meant the one in the Christmas picture.
How are the pickford ave rice's? So happy to hear Ms Emma is on the road to recovery, nothing worse than a cold and have to miss school YUCK I am well, I just finished my cheerios
Happy Friday Eve! Allegedly we are suppose to get some snow, and its cold Must be January Mr Fixxitt's birthday is on Tuesday, does anyone know if there is a party in the works? Not that I would be invited, but just making conversation. Have a good day
Boy, there certainly is a lot of blog activity which is a good thing because this has to be the worst time of the year. Cold with threats of colder and snow with the threat of more snow. Try to stay warm and safe.
An "adventure" would be one way of describing it. Gotta love a snow covered 290 for getting an early morning adrenalin rush going. Sun is out now but the ride home?? Hey, at least it's friday, right?
brrrr it is very very cold out! who has fun things planned today? Bro, a round of golf maybe? Nephew, out in the boat? Yea none of those things are happening! It is hunker down with a book day Spoke with my mother this week, she is well supplied with groceries and Jnna ordered her 38 books from the audio library, so she is good Other than that, nothing else going on Any thoughts on gg s birthday celebration, not to gloss over Mr fixxitts birthday celebration, but just putting the question out there? Maybe we can take her ice skating on bill and cathys new rink? oh well just too cold I quess to be creative
Had a birthday bash with Mr. Fixxit and his lovely bride (AKA, mom) and had an enjoyabl;e evening playing "Disney's Scene It!" Tomorrow we have plane to go skating. BUT man, was it cold today.
Come on now!! To paraphrase Marv, where else would you rather be, than right here in WNY in Jan.?? Answer: Most anywhere else. I did make it out to buy a newspaper this morning but that is IT for today. Stay warm!
BRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrr... Wow! It's cold outside. Zach's home today and Emma has a two hour delay before she goes into school. I'll say it again, Brrrrrrrrr...
Oh, Sunday after church we skated/ played hockey on BIL Bill's pond. The kids had a great time even though Emma was complaining of cold feet. It was cold, but it was FUN.
My brass monkey had some serious damage done at -16 this am. That, combined with a confusing 2 hour bus delay this morning, has me all askew. I hate being askew.
I thought we were getting some nasty weather today?
Any news on Holtzapalooza III? I feel like I can contribute with an idea or two. I think we should have funny shaped balloons instead of the round ones. Just a thought.
I think we should get big name entertainment for Holtzapalooza. Does anyone know any big name entertainment, other than frankie don of course, that is a given!
Isn't there a rule that if you go to the Caribbean in Feb. you have to take your oldest uncle with you? Re: palooza, I used to know a one-armed accordion player from the Eldredge Club. I will see if he is still around. Frankie Don is a given.
I can do spoons on my lap. I'm not very good though AND once I had an incident where one of the spoons flew from my grasp and struck an elderly lady in the head. Needless to say they kicked me out of The Country Buffet and wouldn't let me return. I had to wait in my car for 45 minutes until my Mr. and Mrs. Fixxit were done eating.
Raise your hand if you are excited for Friday! Heck Yea! So Jnna and I have joined a gym and made a 3 X's a week committment to work out. We started January 10th, so last night on our second visit, I wore a very cool hocky t shirt that cookie had picked up when she was in Vancouver last week, and as I was on the bike a few people had pointed at my shirt and smiled, and said go canucks, and that kind of surprised me as we were at the Elmwood fitness 19?, so as we were leaving, I told Jnna about it, and she looked at me and she said you still have all the price tags and size stickers on it. have a great friday
Favorite son last was seen shovelling snow, LOTS of snow, and my not emerge until maybe april. I don't know how anyone can live in those kinds of places with never-ending winter. Let's hear it for the Miami of the North! I like Friday.
I think Adm and K should do a snow blog, and link the snow they have rec'd this winter, to the adverse affects on them? Just a thought! Not to much else to report on, took gg grocery shopping yesterday, paid her bills, took her to lunch, and heard that her new endeavor is writting poetry. So from this point on, all cards from her will be her own creative thinking... I told her that would not fly for the pirate gift! Found a web site that does all the radio programs from 1910 - 1950 on CD's. So looking into that for her. Did you know that you can get all of Winston Churchhill's speach's on a CD for 5$. However she was not interested in them , as to quote her, she heard them already! But as a birthday gift idea for her, consider something that she can listen too. Be it music, or a radio program, she can get just about any book from the library. But music is always good too! still very gray in WNY, lets hope Feb brings some sun! Chinese new year is Feb 2nd, so happy new year everyone!
What a day yesterday! Ice skating/ hockey with Zach, Emma went sledding with her friend or as she says her long lost twin. And then off to a concert at the Tralf last night; Aqueous, Sons Of Bill, and Tea Leaf Green. What a show! Today I'm feeling the effects of skating. Oh man, am I sore.
Is everyone aware the sky is falling! the sky is falling! Ridiculous, how much coverage some snow is getting! its snow, its winter... But I did go to the store! enjoy the day and all that it brings. Wonder how big of a broom Mr Pagula will bring to HSBC?
All I knowis that I am closed for tomorrow and for that I am eternally grateful. Auntie is already nervous since she is scheduled to head to Hotlanta for babysitting duty on thursday. The weather channel was positively salivating over this storm. What's going to change with the Sabres?
Yep, I'm home. Not much snow, but there's two kids to entertain. That was reason enough to stay home. I WAS up at my normal time, looked outside and actually contemplated going in because of the disappointing output of snow.
Hopefully it comes down a lil' harder this afternoon to make all the hub-bub worth while.
I was down for the count yesterday with a stomach bug, UGH, and missed all the hulabaloo! So how did that snow thing end up?? I hope Auntie got out OK? update please so its official the Sabres are sold and andy Pettite is retiring... Just curious, how does my bro fill his time when his lovely wife is out of town???
Auntie is "on duty"in notsohotlanta. Me, I will spend the next week volunteering at the City Mission on code blue nights, and when I am not doing that, working on my lesson plans. I know that it's going to be a good day when it starts with the retirement of the pitcher that I always thought was the best on their staff. But we all know that they will just plug in "Fat Freddy" Garcia and not miss a beat. Is spring training still that far away?
Fat Freddy Garcia, now that is kind of mean? Sometimes I wonder what gets into my brother! any word on the date for H-III? I think we need a catchy symbol for our gala? Anyone clever and talented, want to devise a logo for our palooza? Just wondering? Its only lunch time, not quitting time.... sigh
Almost quitting time (sometimes the clock just doesn't move).
Not sure Steady Freddy Garcia will be more than the 4th starter. He'll be okay at best. I'm picturing Carl Pavano's twin. A Robust Fartolo Colon won't even make the team. That leaves "Super" Ivan Nova as the team's #5. AJ Burnett... ugh, #3. Come on spring hurry up, I miss baseball!
cookie and good gary leave for st lucia on monday I made the reservations for the PHS, that is the Philadelphia Horitculture Show, for my sister and myself Other than that not to much else At least the sun is out! enjoy saturday, saturday saturday nights all right!
Did Athenas, Tops and the Bank yesterday among my many other good deeds. What about today? I guess that I will just go downtown, stand around and wait to help little old ladies across the street. That is how I spend my free time. GG is looking forward to her big superbowl party tomorrow.
I had a great time at the Bandit's game yesterday, even though I had no idea what was going on! My beer was cold and the nachos were delish! It is a balmy 30 degrees out. That is a heat wave compared to last week! Sorry Zach, but I am pulling for the PACKERS tomorrow!
I was very happy for a packers victory! Big Ben deserved no glory and he actually should grow his beard back! Commercial blog, great idea, maybe it can become revenue generating and Holtzapalooza would be funded. Just a thought! K, any grants available for family reunion funding? That sounds like a democrat thing, doesnt it? No GG for our superbowl party yesterday, did not want to come out, as it was too dark, too cold! However, she did call every 30 minutes to see who was winning! Any birthday ideas for her??? thoughts? suggestions? I got nothin! cookie and good gary on there way to 82 degree sun, sand and surf! my job is to start her car every day! enjoy monday, it will be over soon!
I too loved the finger licking commercial. Best 30 seconds of the game -- though the light up Superbowl half time costumes were pretty cool. Wonder if those are on EBay today?
Warmer weather here -- 65 yesterday, yay -- and a HUGE amount of productivity thanks to Nonna in the house. You may never get her back, dad!
MORE than a little jealous of our Caribbean vacationers and certainly Atlanta sounds good as it wasn't 65 on the roof yesterday as I spent the day attacking the ice in an effort to prevent huge leaks in Auntie's absence. Don Paul keeps promising a "pattern change" for next week, but that won't help the next few days. Stay warm
Thank goodness for freezing temperatures. My leak into the basement temporarily stopped. This buys me some time to chip away at the chilly menace. Being on a ladder in the middle of winter is never a safe/smart thing to do.
Am trying to think spring, but so difficult when the icicles that hang from my house could kill someone! You know icicles have been known to kill people!
Zach went to school today and was feeling much better. Thank goodness. Sandra had a bad headache last night before bedtime... uh oh. Emma chugs along just like daddy. Well, minus the morning limp.
Glad to hear the rice house is on the road to recovery! Nothing worse that a mid february cold! Rumor has it the weather is suppose to get warmer?? I wonder how much warmer? Just some friday AM Q's? Is unkie still on the roof? Is AP back from ATL? we dutifully started cookies car this week while they were sunning in the caribean... other than that stay warm all!
Zach's team, St. John's, won the lutheran championship last night and he chipped in with 8 pts. The kids were VERY excited. The win was followed by a trip to Duff's down in Orchard Park... I was VERY excited.
We had a nice afternoon with GG today, we were a bit late though... Gram thought that was rude. So I gave her a kiss, wished an upcoming happy birthday, and took a nap. I love Sunday naps... even at my parents house.
Goooooood mornin', wow, it's balmy outside. Not much going on this week for the Rice's, which is kind of nice. Very little taxi-cabbing around. I'm sure something will come up last minute.
Happy Valentines day family! May everyone get roses and chocolate! With GG's watch announcing the time, no one can get away with being late! Prior to her speaking watch she really had no idea, what time it was! So we were all safe! KDH - GG loved her cookies, passed them around to her friends, and was able to put a smile on the face of everyone on the second floor! The walk to BGH today, was a killer, I am amazed I was not carried away, well maybe not amazed, but you all get the gist Have a fabulous monday
Did my eyes deceive me, or was that film of pitchers and catchers that I saw? Can the Yunks afford to add Pujols contract to Arods? What a silly question. Come on FRIDAY!!!
Happy Tuesday, I hope everyone got something something for Valentines day! Rumor has it a new blog is in the works, could it be a Bob Marley blog?? I sometimes wonder what goes through my brothers head, of course the yankees have enough money for King Albert! he is so silly sometimes!
Sabres win in Montreal, yea! In a shoot out no less. Hickory is the best dog in the country! Oh and happy birthday husband o mine, I hope today finds you feeling fine! Great post by nephew rick on his facebook page. the newlyweds stopped by last night with souvenirs from st lucia, oddly enough they said all bob marley t shirts were 25% off? enjoy wed all
A big HB to UG. Looks like the newlyweds brought good weather back with them. That is what we like to see. So how does one wear three/fourths of a t-shirt? Is that off the top or bottom? I think that nphw jff should go for the Brian Wilson beard look. I can only imagine if he started now what it would look like by xmas.
Had a very nice dinner last evening with the Fixxitts and the Birthday Girl. The mister was a bit distracted as he spent most of the evening reading repair manuals in Italian. Not sure what that is all about. It is Friday and I am looking forward to getting today over with and starting vacation. enjoy the balmy weather
My mom and dad had "tons" of errands to do and were very anxious to get them all done before last night's dinner reservations. Sooooo, my mom hurried me off the phone (at 10AM) so they could get them ALL done.
too funny! What time were dinner reservations 10:05?? How long were they at Kohls? What was needed, do you think? All very interesting! I hope someone informs Mr fixxitt that the holes, cracks and crevices in the Sistine Chapel do not need caulk, it needs to stay that way! I am thinking that someone traveling to Ancient Rome, that is the mindset of Mr Fixxitt will not be enjoyable, just to much work to do! waiting for the clock to move faster!
Thank goodness winter has returned, looking at my pesky green grass was very annoying! Dinner/birthday party for Geo tonight cocktails at steinbrenners and then off to the red ossier for beef! stay grounded today, its windy out there!
The picture Auntie B. painted of Mr. Fixxitt trying to "fix up" the various Roman ruins made me lol. Hope that UG enjoyed his b-day dinner. Only negative was the location for cocktails. Isn't there a fenway that would be convenient?
Zach and I had the time of our lives last night in Geneva. We went to see The Avett Brothers and they were absolutely on fire! What a show. The drive home was a little slower than I wanted though. Snow, snow, snow, and very slippery roads. I was driving at some sections at 25 mph.

Well, I guess that money does talk. Thanks nc jnn for bringing back lots of memories from another great day, but did you have to finish with that gift on display? I know, I know how happy AB was with her gift, but...
Great pics!
Have the ATL folks been able to leave their house yet?
I am soooo looking forward to my 3 day weekend.
Yeah, third to post!
Great pictures, it really captures the excitement of the day. And what a day it was.
I need to see pics of Atlanta's current condition. Do we know anyone down there?
finally Christmas pictures, soon to be replaced with pictures from our MLK extravaganza, I am sure
Great job, seems like so long ago, even thought I just took my tree down yesterday!
Moving on to Holtzapalooza, do we have a recording secretary to keep track of the meeting minutes and to keep us on track? I nominate Mr Fixxitt as he has such nice penmanship!
Father would appreciate you saying that. He'd be asking us repeat ourselves a lot though, he writes slow.
How about Holtzapalooza taking place in a Zeppelin this year? Oooooh that would be fun. Or a huge hot air balloon? Holtzapalooza goes airborn.
Esmonde had a great rebuttal in the paper today to counter the Toronto Star columnist's over-reaction to Esmonde's first column.
Just read it. Lovely bickering between to kids that fight using words. Check out Chatal Kelly in the Toronto Star.
I think that I should never see, and evening so lovely as Friday nite, doesnt rhyme, but oh well!

enjoy the evening
Heard that Unky and AP have arrived safely in chilly-lanta

Perfect day to read a good book!

Hey, Jnna, are you done reading the Sarah Palin book?
Which Sarah Palin book? I have both!
great new Caroline blog, for interested readers.
So cookie is still in Vancouver, and I know for a fact that she is not happy about that!
Another crazy weather day, rain, ice, sleet and that was only in my driveway! Its wed, and there really is not to much to say about wed, now is there, only that it is closer to thursday, which is closer to friday than Monday

Happy Friday Eve!
Allegedly we are suppose to get some snow, and its cold
Must be January
Mr Fixxitt's birthday is on Tuesday, does anyone know if there is a party in the works? Not that I would be invited, but just making conversation.
Have a good day
The Pickford Rice's are doing well also, thanks for asking.
Since we're introducing breakfast to this conversation. I just enjoyed a bowl of instant oatmeal. Delish.
Enjoy National Penguin Awareness Day today.
Look at you, Mrs. Creative "bEtSy"... wow!
Boy, there certainly is a lot of blog activity which is a good thing because this has to be the worst time of the year. Cold with threats of colder and snow with the threat of more snow. Try to stay warm and safe.

Unckie, you had back to back days posting at 10:38... wierd.
Is "Brass Monkies" a song? Can you dance to it?
he is stuck in a time warp!
Me, I am barely hanging on by a thread! Mondays are the worst!
Wow! 1038? Sounds like a daily number pick to me. High point of my day was a banana run for gg. The current 11 degrees seems balmy to me.
I thought we were getting some nasty weather today?
Any news on Holtzapalooza III? I feel like I can contribute with an idea or two. I think we should have funny shaped balloons instead of the round ones. Just a thought.
I think we should get big name entertainment for Holtzapalooza.

I have a hard time believing that the fixxitts ever set foot in an Old Country Buffett! It is more food for your money, but the germs!
Okay, okay, maybe I made the whole thing up. Would you believe that left me for dead in the Two Guys Store parking lot?
Looks like Hot'Lanta dodged a major storm.
Raise your hand if you are excited for Friday! Heck Yea!
So Jnna and I have joined a gym and made a 3 X's a week committment to work out. have a great friday
Minnie Pearl did it for years and people LOVE her.
Put me down for LOVING Friday!
That's two sentences and two times that I "capped" love. Wierd.
Where's Adm?
Favorite son last was seen shovelling snow, LOTS of snow, and my not emerge until maybe april. I don't know how anyone can live in those kinds of places with never-ending winter. Let's hear it for the Miami of the North! I like Friday.

Big storm a comin'. Is everyone ready; milk, bread, M&M's???
T-Pegs takes over the Sabres Thursday morning. Hopefully the storm doesn't delay the takeover.
Did the Phil get out of his hole this AM?
Well that was a bust. Can't wait to go to St. Lucia in 5 days where it is 82º.
Bust indeed.
Any parties going on for Super Bowl Sunday?
I was down for the count yesterday with a stomach bug, UGH, and missed all the hulabaloo! So how did that snow thing end up??
I hope Auntie got out OK?
update please
so its official the Sabres are sold and andy Pettite is retiring...
AJ Burnett... ugh, #3.
Come on spring hurry up, I miss baseball!
cookie and good gary leave for st lucia on monday
I made the reservations for the PHS, that is the Philadelphia Horitculture Show, for my sister and myself
Other than that not to much else
At least the sun is out!
enjoy saturday, saturday saturday nights all right!
Packers Win!!! At least one person was happy in the Rice house.
So, a family that is so involved in social media, can we start a blog on our favorite commercials of the Super Bowl?
I'll start with the creepy finger lickin' good Doritos commercial.
Cheeeeese... I love Doritos. That one cracked me up.
I'm a little jealous of Jill and Gary. OK, a lot.
"I broke my glasses...it fell, and I, I..."
Go inside and wash up... you can wear your old glasses until we fix your new ones.
sigh.... Christmas story references are the best way to start the day
Unkie, stay off the roof today, let the snow win!
Is it cold outside or is it just me?
Thanks, now all of you have me scared to go outside.
Brrrrrrr... not again. It's a good thing I don't spend my day outside.
Zach's home sick again, just a bad cold. Hopefully he feels better later on today.
Unckie?! Unckie?!
Congratulations! Great job!
Nothing says celebration like Duffs!
Where did this snow come from and why?
The actual roof is reappearing. My driveway is, in fact, black. The miracles brought about by an above freezing day. Who needs St. Lucia!
Ummmmm... I do.
The walk to BGH today, was a killer, I am amazed I was not carried away, well maybe not amazed, but you all get the gist
Have a fabulous monday
Did my eyes deceive me, or was that film of pitchers and catchers that I saw? Can the Yunks afford to add Pujols contract to Arods? What a silly question. Come on FRIDAY!!!
Happy Tuesday, I hope everyone got something something for Valentines day! Rumor has it a new blog is in the works, could it be a Bob Marley blog??
I sometimes wonder what goes through my brothers head, of course the yankees have enough money for King Albert! he is so silly sometimes!
Boy, you guys were up early this mornin'.
Chilly morning, but I'm excited about the southern spring ritual of tossing a ball back and forth.
Love it!
Sabres win in Montreal, yea! In a shoot out no less.
Hickory is the best dog in the country!
Oh and happy birthday husband o mine, I hope today finds you feeling fine!
Great post by nephew rick on his facebook page.
the newlyweds stopped by last night with souvenirs from st lucia, oddly enough they said all bob marley t shirts were 25% off?
enjoy wed all
That is odd... I had no idea Bob Marley t-shirts were a big seller in St. Lucia? Maybe that's why they were 25% off???
So, I Googled "Bob Marley/ St. Lucia" and the first thing that pops up is, he's at Rehab Rodney's... who knew?
A big HB to UG. Looks like the newlyweds brought good weather back with them. That is what we like to see. So how does one wear three/fourths of a t-shirt? Is that off the top or bottom? I think that nphw jff should go for the Brian Wilson beard look. I can only imagine if he started now what it would look like by xmas.
Happy Birthday Uncle George!!!
Brian Wilson, the beach boy???
Oh wait, the RP... now that's a sweet beard.
They had to go to Kohl's.
What is going on with the Sabres?
Zach and I had the time of our lives last night in Geneva. We went to see The Avett Brothers and they were absolutely on fire! What a show. The drive home was a little slower than I wanted though. Snow, snow, snow, and very slippery roads. I was driving at some sections at 25 mph.
