A Christmas Memory Blob
By JT
My mom couldn't wait. She had her oown stash and just would not share. Austin, being the perfect gentleman, looked away and did not judge.
It was great see Gram... hopefully someone will pick her up again next year. Love that sentimental gal.
It seems that these two were plotting something.
Merry Christmas everyone! What a day.

First on! Great pix and more great memories of special times. I honestly think that films of our pirate games would be a top ten tv series and definitely funnier than most everything else out there. How do we do it year after year? Altho the censor might have issues with Uncle Gary's favorite xmas memory.
I agree, it was an interesting Christmas memory from my dad. Though, I do know now where I get it from.
Fun, fun day... I have some clips of "Pirate Game" on the Flip... so I'll share.
Next year I suggest we all start using our Suzanne Sommers thigh masters... it seems it works for Aunt Patty... it was tough to get some of those gifts away from her.
Great pix, thanks for sharing!
What an amazing day! Just so much fun!
Back to work today, UGH!
Had a fun day yesterday, had my mom over for a turkey dinner, and we had game night. Jnna got a new game for Christmas, called over/under and you had to quess if the fact was correct, it was a lot of fun, Oh and George won!
I set up Mom's new Kurek coffee maker, hope she can figure it out, she seemed OK with just pouring the water in and pressing the brew button, so we will see!
Hope Adam and Amy got home OK! That was a great picture!
Enjoy the day people!
Brrrrrrr... cold and icy this morning. It would have been a nice day to stay in bed.
Enjoy your day.
It was an extremely blustery walk up ellicott this AM! So my and geo christmas gift was a 55 inch flat screen TV from the family! I know I know- so excited for Yankee games on the big screen! And gramma can see images on the big screen, so we were going to try to skype K on Sunday, so Gramma could see the twins! I will let you know how that turns out.
Any big plans for New Years? Nothing on our end, just wish it was Thursday, as Thursday is a far better day than Wed!
Hmmmm... NYE plans? Small gathering at our house with friends and hopefully in bed by 10:30... we'll see about that though, Sandra loves to party!
will your party be in the basement?
Just wondering????
Great blog...too funny. New Rule: Everyone gets to sample the pirate gift. It only seems fair, who knew the chocolate vino would be so yummy.
All in favor of the new rule my sissy brought to the table say YEA!
Since this blog is a democracy; I say we table this vote. From experience; I personally thought that sampling the gift was easy until someone gave me a corked bottle of wine! Then, it got tricky!
In the basement??? Hmmmmm... interesting question. I would imagine at some point, some people will be in the basement.
I think Unckie and Mr. Fixxit got a lil' grossed out at the communal bottle passing. I'm all in favor of it though.
so here it is New Years eve eve..
Is anyone working today other than me???
Well, here it is, the last day of 2011. I will repeat the mandatory "where did the year go?", but all in all I guess it was a pretty good one. Two little happy healthy babes added to the clan and no losses of membership. I guess that it can't really get much better. As my daddy always said: as long as you have your health and a sixpack. Lots of good times to remember but if you look at the count of this year's blogs, it has been decreasing every year. Were it not for the efforts of nphw jff we would be in real trouble. Our collective resolution to try for more contributions?? Just a thought. I know that I will try, that's my best, and Auntie would say that I am a very trying person. Final thought for 2011: sure sign of old age. the timer on the microwave goes off and you have no idea of what's in it. Happy New Year!
I'm all in favor of collective contributions... let's start off with everyone dropping off a six-pack of their favorite grog to my house before 5PM.
I didn't work yesterday!!! That was a big day for me. Instead, we went down to Fountain Plaza and Ice skated and then on to the Anchor Bar... Yahoo!
Mentioning Yahoo, I almost pulled out a victory. If I would've started Reggie Wayne or Jerry Maclin, victory was mine.
K Sarah Sarah... or whomever.
Hey, happy new year. Finished up 2011 in style with dinner with the Fixxitts and a stop at jff + sndr's for dessert. Asleep at 11, woke up for a mandatory HNY for the bride at 12:30 and then back to sleep. Just waiting for the arrival of "the storm to end all storms" or whatever Don Paul is calling this one. My guess is that the Bills will be playing today's game in the parking lot to get a head start, but I hope I/m wrong. Enjoy the day.
I will promise to contribute more to the blog. :) I think the next blog should be me going to the DMV on my birthday to renew my drivers license. SIGH!
Happy Happy 2012! I prefer even #'s to odd I am just saying!
Our NYE, was very quiet, had Anastasia over new years day, for New York Yankee Strawberry waffles with whip cream! And watched the Bills game, unfortunately, and now thnk you time warner, we can not watch the Sabres!
My wishes to everyone 2012, health, wealth and happiness! And to all, rise above the little things in life!
Suggestions, for Anastasia's party, Saturday Feb 18th or Sunday Feb 19th, does not matter to me?
Which works for everybody? I was thinking Sunday? As it is closer to her Birthday than Saturday, but that was my only rationale?
Thoughts?
Woo-hoo!!! Back to work. Ummmmm.... that's feigned excitement. I like getting paid, but would rather be doing something else.
My scholarly nephew hit it right on the head, I do very much like collecting a pay check, but would very much prefer to be doing something else!
Okay, ok, back to normal.
Emma starts up AWANA on Wednesday nights (which means Sandra and I are back to "AWANA-ing") BUT, Zach puts a kink into the night by starting indoor soccer practice at 8, which cuts our night short by 40 minutes now... rats.
The only burp in my schedule is the lack of sabres games on TV, I am now forced to do something else.
Anyone have any suggestions as to how to spend my sabresless hours???
Happy New Year family! 2011 was a banner year for the Holtz Twomblys -- two weddings, two babies, and a new house. Here's the hoping 2012 is as good (but perhaps less milestone filled. Can't top all that)
So about Gram's party -- we're thinking through options for coming home sometime soon, and weather not withstanding, Gram's birthday may be a possiblity. After all, 95 is pretty big! What are the ideas on the floor?
K - We will change the party date to accomodate the Holtz Twombly faction of the family!
She would be so very happy!
As we have been trying to figure out how to skype on the 55" TV so she could "see" you all!
Keep us posted, does this weekend work for you?
A party??? Woo Hoo! Tell me when it is and I'll be there with bells, balloons and a watermelon. Now that's a party.
nephew, no costume?
Remember we were all going to come as our favorite literary character of 1917!
Of course, of course... and I believe the name William Taft was thrown in the mix too.
Speaking of literary, I'm reading "Gods and Generals" right now, so far it's a pretty good read. It's a prequel to "Killer Angels" written by the son, Jeff Shaara. I'm trying to get ready for our Gettysburg trip this summer.
Great party last nite. Thanks to Jill and Gary for the wonderful hospitality and sharing their beautiful home. The food was yummy, the company stimulating as always, the birthday girl surprised and the televised sabres game a bonus even tho the outcome was predictable. Hope that everyone enjoys the remainder of the weekend. Next stop, the 95th.
Thanks to everyone who made last night so special! Had lots of fun!
Gave me lots of ideas for the 95th! No Balloons!
Still seeing the sun today, which is a bonus!
Enjoy sunday all!
