As the family grows and continues to change, we use our family blog to keep in touch, remind each other of who we are, where we came from, and where were going.

Not that our mother has ever been able to see or read our blog, she has asked about it, and she asks whos says what, about whom, and do we talk about her! remembering that our blog was built so we all had a way of keeping us connected. And I know she appreciates our efforts to keep the family connected. At 96, she is passionate about life, loves her books and her family! Happy Birthday Mom!
Poor nphw jff seems to be taking the plight of the Sabres to heart, to the point of repeating himself. The good news is that, unless I misread tv topics, it appears that exhibition bball begins at 1 today. Can that mean that spring is far behind? Back in Wny yesterday after escaping another east coast storm. A little light snow in Utica, but it is always snowing in Utica, sometimes even in august, some rain in syracuse and nothing else. The good news is that Potomac East golf course is open in DC. The bad news is that it does not appear that anything closer is open, at least as of today. So it is back in the car on tuesday and driving south. With only 5 days left in Feb. the pressure mounts. The will is thered and the resolve is there but $4 gas is making this pricey. Snowing currently with some enthusiasm. Better here than dodging car parts in Daytona. Enjoy
$4 for gas driving down to DC to golf? God love ya. 252 hearty folks stayed to boo the Sabrs last night. Thank goodness Bigfootville was on so I didn't have to watch that.
Happy Monday Morning, and I just bet everyone is eager to return to work! So we finished up Anastasia's birthday celebration yesterday with dinner, the everetts and a Yankee spring training game! All except for granderson breaking his arm it was a good day! I think my brother is not being very entreprenueal about his golf outing trip. Now I am pretty sure, if he contacted his B-I-L, Gary, he would split the gas with him, and golf with him! We all know what an adventuresome soul he is! Or you could take your Mother, she would love to go! And she would pay her own way! If you asked around I am sure you could find a co pilot, to assist with the gas! Just a reminder the Pope resigns on Thursday, so if any of you are betting on the next Pope, just remember the odd on favorite is the guy from South Africa! So for this years project, Anastasia would like to address Congress, she would like a bevy of beauties, to each carry one sign, with one letter on it, spelling U-N-I-T-E-D, and to remind Congress that they are here for us! Not them! I am pretty sure, Jenna already has Schumer on speed dial! Its Monday and Spring is 23 days away!!!
The sun is ashining, the birds are asinging, the clubs are in the trunk and I am outa here in an hour. Out before the nasty weather arrives and back after it ends. I talked to Mom and she was all for going with me but she said that if she was paying for half the gas she was driving half the time. That was the deal breaker. Sorry Mom. I will take the hit. Stay warm and dry.
isnt tomorrow your lovely wife's birthday? I know she is out of town, but should'nt you stay in town just in case? Happy Birthday Eve - AP The only Holtz who gets better looking every year!!! Have a nice golf outing brother! keeping the streak alive, thats committment!
You know that would be a great blog, an up to the minute accounting of Unkie's golf mission. Can we not link a GPS with the blog? Happy Wed, day after Sabres win, yahoo!!! I do still believe they are in last place though. Happy Birthday to my sister in law, who's style and grace elevates all of us! Here's hoping your day is full of love, hugs and kisses!
What a day. Unckie's out on America's roads looking for a golf course. Sandra's dad gave his testimony tonight at church. It was very nice. To top off the evening, Diary Queen is back in business. Needless to say we got some ice cream to end the day .
I hate rides into work like this morning, when there is so much indesicion of how to run the wind shield wipers, too fast, too slow UGH! So I stopped at my mom's last nite to drop of meds, and she was out visiting so I sat and waited for her, and I noticed in her garbage can next to her chair was an empty bag of peanut m&m's. Now that was a 2 lb bag, that she got sunday evening and it was gone by wed???? I did ask her how that was possible and she sheepishly stated, she ate them a handful at a time, good to know! So after much furniture shopping geo and I purchased a credenza to put our tv on, it has been delivered and it will be promptly returned as it is now the whole living room! 2 things that I hate shopping for furniture and curtains! Hope my brother finds his way back from the links and I hope my sister in law had a great birthday! Hey its thursday, you can do it, I know you can!
Back at work and all of the long range driving is over, at least for awhile. I don't think that you can count driving to the airport tomorrow to fetch Auntie as long distance driving. My golfing mission was accomplished, but not without a large degree of angst. Took it to the wire but it was worse in Feb. 2002 when, as Auntie will testify, we flew in a snowstorm to Va. Beach and i golfed on 2/28. Enjoy the day. 2# of M+M's?? Way to go MOM!!!
Happy Friday, Happy March 1st. So glad Feb is over! I was going to bring up to my nephew about resurrecting the wishing UG a happy birthday party, but I am thinking he was probably very happy that party never took place! Sabres win 2 in a row!! My sister and I are very busy planning our trip to the Philadelphia Flower Show, as we leave Tuesday. Our Mom gets very annoyed with us that we do not take her. Glad to be at work and get the day done, so the weekend begins. so today is 03/01 and the year is 13???? I think the stars are aligned!
So who was this "Jeff from Buffalo"calling into WGR on friday? The voice sure did sound familiar. Anyone know more? Yes, and what about that sound of everyone jumping back on the Sabres bandwagon?
Nice weekend! Walked in the shamrock run, had lunch with grandma, and went to the movies with mom. Hope everyone stayed warm! Keep June 22nd open. Looks like that's the day for awesome Austin's grad party.
Happy Monday! I only say that as I am off, Tuesday, Wed, Thurs and Friday! Yes folks, it is that time of year, my sis and I are off to Philly!! My only concern is I am not sure what time we are leaving? So I am thinking I should be prepared for early p/u? And when I see her I see her. I can honestly say I am officially over winter! Over the snow, the cold, the wind, oh and did I say the snow??? Great pics of Rick on FB! Had GG out for just a little bit yesterday, as the cold, snow and wind, was just a bit much, she seemed happy with the excursion. And with my sister and I away, Jnna will be holding down the fort. Enjoy your week people, as for me, I will be smellin the roses!
Talked to Mom yesterday and told her that I would check on thursday to see if she needed anything. She said that yes, definitely, she would be needing some things and we had best pick them up by way of Athena's for a late lunch early dinner. Travel safely sisters, and stay away from the Reading Market and the Philly cheese sandwiches.
I talked to Gram too yesterday who advised me that I will be her emergency contact since both daughters will be away. When I asked for clarification on this she said, you know grabbing bananas, checking up on me. Thanks Unkie for checking on her Thursday. Not sure if Mom told this story or not; but I will anyway. We had a nice lunch on Sunday with Gram at Bob Evans. Every time we go we ask if her she wants the pint of chicken noodle soup for $5. She ALWAYS says no, I bet it isn't good, it will have to many noodles and not enough chicken, blah blah blah. Well last Sunday she caved and wanted 1 pint of chicken noodle soup and 1 loaf of cherry bread. Guess what is gone? Both! She LOVED the chicken noodle soup; best thing since sliced bread. She went on and on and on about how many meals she can have with it, how Campbell's has nothing on the Bob Evans soup, it was perfect; needless to say she was in her glory. Have a safe trip Mom and AS!
Home from the city of Brotherly love!!! I have to say when my sister and I travel together it is always interesting! During our 6.5 trip to Philly, oh and please add the one hour that we sat in stopped dead traffice on the PA Turnpike, in which, a car backed up into us, true story!, we planned gramma's funeral, talked about our Organ donation, but the big announcement, the HUGE announcement, is that during our drive I said, we have to have such a blow out bash for Jeff's 50th!!! Who can imagine jff being 50?? It was then it dawned on us , that when Jeff is 50, I will be 60, Sue will be 70 and Adam will be 40. Its HOLTZAPALOOZA TIME! So my sister and I are planning this one, and it will be a destination HOLTZAPALOOZA, so the year will be 2016, and it will be somewhere, where we can all gather, and just enjoy! Suggestions welcome! The flower show, always so much fun! So we both agreed to bring snax, as eating on the road along the thruway is just gross, and lo and behold, the choice of snax that we both brought was the exact same food, chips, pringles naturally, cashews, crackers, m&m's and pretzels. When we unload our "bathroom products" we have the exact same products, right down to toothpaste! We got a good laugh over how the same we are!! Oh the storm Saturn, never touched Philadelphia, we walked every day, took the historic bus tour, enjoyed the sun! Their weather forecasters were calling for such gloom and doom, and not a flake fell. Thank you to my sister for such a great Philly get away! I can almost bear going back to work!
Glad all went well for the travellers and they returned safe and sound. Weather sounded like it was going to be really bad but as it turned out, the only area that got really hammered was Boston. How unusual is that? A 2016 destination Holtzapalooza? Love the idea! Where oh where could it be? With nphw jff as the honoree, does that mean that it will have to be one of those Bonarooboo music camping places? With nc jnn throwing her bonnet into the political ring,(you go Girl!) maybe it could tie in with that? Mom will only be 99 so that might be a limiting factor. At Athenas? Not a distant destination, but a destination none the less. So much going on, as it should be. I am trying to get my fantasy bball roster set by watching the WBC but the player I really want is on the Kyoto Carp and the Commish won't let me have him, the tyrant. Enjoy the sunshine!
Was I supposed to read about Holtzapalooza 2016? I wasn't sure if it was a surprise Holtzapalooza. Count us in! It seems that backed-up traffic is the theme for this weekend. We were stopped in traffic on 79S right before our turn on the 422 for 45 minutes... Ugh. Sorry adm, I know that's a lot of numbers. Then heading down to Williamsburg we tried to avoid DC but got stopped in Leesburg and Richmond. Arrrrgghhh... But we're here safe and that's all that matters. Heading into Jamestowne today. It's supposed to be sunny and low 60's!
Well back to work, UGH... after such a nice 6 days off and no thoughts of work, it is very hard to get back to the grind! Just to clarify, there is no surprise Holtzapalooza, we are giving everyone 3 years notice, to come up with a destination, well maybe 2 years for the destination? As much fun as a surprise Holtzapalooza would be, I am thinking it would be logistically impossible! Seems like everyone is very busy! So that is good! Sabres lost, can this shortened season please be over! Have a great Monday all!
I think that we need to plan it and then we can all just act surprised like, fancy meeting you here! The only thing more messed up today than me with the time change is my students. Not too much going on here. Hey, even the BlackHawks lost 2 in a row. We can't give up on our Sabres, can we? Yeah, we can. Enjoy the last decent day for awhile.
Beautiful day here in Williamsburg. The kids are swimming (ummmm... Indoor) and we just got back from site seeing. We're off to Oceans and Ale tonight for dinner. By the name I'm expecting seafood and beer. Whatcha' think?
Well, we had a wonderful time on our vacation but it's time to go. It's raining as I drink my coffee, eat my cherry turnover and contemplate my arrangement for packing the car. We'll be home tonight.
I like it when my nephew is on vacation, he is on the blog more! Travel safe! I am sure everyone is aware of the political campaign that has become our house! I have to tell you though, I thouroughly enjoy my daughter's passion and competetive spirit! She is 100% committed to everything Tonawanda! and my involvement, I just try to keep my mouth shut! But her and her dad, are strategizing daily. Geo's family is planning a family reunion, for all of his cousins, and that is kind of entertaining also as they try to work out places, dates, times and a menu More to come on that. Waiting for opening day. And possibly a new Pope today?? I am sure that news will be big in my brothers world! Its tuesday, and me I am just waiting for the weekend!
Just sitting and looking out the window at the MSM senior citizens complex and waiting to see if it will be white or black smoke coming out of one of the windows. Either someone burned the toast again (black smoke) or had another grease fire (white smoke) and that should give an indication for what lies ahead in Rome. Other than that? This is my second consecutive day of work and I have had enuf for awhile. I am taking tomorrow off. So let me get this straight, nc jnn is our "W" and ug is Karl Rove? I thought that things were exciting when Don Creasy was our political link. this is great. I love it Jnn. I will see how many Tonawanda residents I have here and see what can be done. Where is her district? Or are all of the seats "at large"?
Jenna is seeking the council seat for the 4th Ward. Of course this is just a stepping stone to bigger and better things! UG is definately Karl Rove! I wonder if Karl would like to consult on this campaign, didnt he get bounced from Fox News???
Thank you very much Unkie for the kind words. Whoa has it been an interesting week. My social calendar this week consists of a "secret" meeting on Sunday which lasted almost 4 hours, a meeting this Thursday with a school board member, a meeting Saturday with a member from the Veteran's, a board of Director's meeting with the Boys and Girls club, and focusing on what lies ahead. Thanks for all the support!
Happy Wed family. I have always thought our family blog was cutting edge, but the Vatican, seriously! And Cardinal Scola! hoping my nephew got home OK? I see the snow is back, and my brother is off today. Other than that, I agree that time change swallowed me whole! Who knew an hour would make such a difference! Is anyone sorry to see Ryan Fitspatrick go?? So doesnt that mean that we start all over again? Sabres got a win And Nix got punked! do a little better than survive the day!
Hey family -- so excited to hear all the news -- Holtzapalooza 2016 (I say a CRUISE), Jff's vacay, new pope, Flower show, and of course the budding politician in our midst. Everyone is doing pretty amazing stuff, given that is March and rather wintery.
Update from Atlanta: Daylight savings time kicked our collective butts, Jefferson's baseball team is undefeated, we're looking forward to springtime visitors, and everyone's Easter outfits are in hand (except mine, oh well). Life is good! and busy! and good!
Helloooooo Atlanta! I love hearing about Jnn's secret meetings. We need more of them on the blob. KDH, Sandra could not agree more with you. She was very angry that she lst an hour of vacation time. I've never seen her like that before.
Leave it to nphw jff to hit the mark. Always vacation in the fall when the clocks are turned back. Lovely spring morning today (yes I am being sarcastic). Nothing like 22 degrees and a faceful of snow as you walk out the door. And of course the Bills made a huge splash in the free agent market signing what's his name. Hard to keep pace with the rapidly changing sports scene here. Between the Bills and Sabres there is way too much going on. Enjoy
Happy Thursday! Or in my world, payday! So last evening, Corinne had a surprise birthday party for her daughter Cathy at Fortuna's in the Falls! To bring everyone up to speed, Cathy is Jeff's GodMother! Cathy recently retired, and is moving back up to Lewiston next month. It was just such a nice evening, Cathy has a beautiful family, and we very much enjoyed ourselves, Anastasia got her hair done, and was gorgeous! It was a fun evening minus the blizzard we drove there and back in! I love k's suggestion for a cruise for HOLTZAPALOOZA 2016!!! Is she thinking maid o' the mist, or something a little bigger?? Will the new Titanic be ready to sail? Our father would have gotten a big kick out of that, a holtz family party on the Titanic! Got our Benjamin announcement yesterday, what a cutie!! Can not wait to hold, hug and smooch him! Geo's family reunion is plodding along, I will keep everyone posted on that! Other than that, glad winter is back those pesky sunny warm days, who needs that in March! Hope everyone has big plans for St Paddy's day, as you know we are 1/4 Irish! Time to get some work done
Plan Your Next Family Reunion at a Colorado Dude Ranch. So you know its Friday, and I usually can not stay focused I work, so I googled Family Reunion Destinations, and there is a ton of information out there! for ex see what I listed first, a reunion at a dude ranch, now thats fun, right!! anywhoo, still lovin K's cruise idea... Enjoy Friday And beware of the ides of march! Do people even say that anymore???
Sandra and I spent last night celebrating St. Patty's Day (weekend) at the Larkin Square, then we attempted to join the frolic at Gene McCarthy's but it was waaaaaay too crowded, so we ventured to the Pearl Street Grill. I got my Guinness and I got my corned beef n cabbage. Fun night with my beautiful wife, my BIL , who just had back surgery and is feeling much better and my SIL.
Hoping that everyone's beer is green and cold today. Hard to believe that last year at this time we were beginning a streak of 6 consecutive record high temp. days. I don't think that will happen this year. No corned beef at 1070 today. Guess that I will head downtown for a Guiness or two to acknowledge my "Downey blood" before tonite's announcement of the pairings for the Big Dance. Erin go Bragh! Enjoy the remainder of the day.
Erin go Bragh! Had my Guinness now it's time for a nap. Sandra and I were just taking about last years weather. Do you think we'll ever see that in our lifetime again?
a most Happy Birthday to my sister! I hope she is enjoying the warm weather of Myrtle Beach, and has a great day planned! Happy Birthday! Hope everyone had a nice St Paddy's day! But seriously Brrr.. I am so over winter, and I think I said that in February! Looks like the east coast is going to get hit with another storm, and that just basically means Adam, right? Got fabulous pix from Hotlanta, can not believe how much Jefferson has grown!! WOW all and all its monday, be a blessing today not a burden!
Hope that my little sister found a way to enjoy her special day. Another wintry day and altho we all keep telling ourselves that spring can't be too far off, it is getting harder to believe. The only real excitement is watching the Bills sign all of these fabulous free agents to fill their very few offensive and defensive holes and the Sabres getting more and more serious about their run for the cup. My sarcasm falls flat even on me. Can't wait to see what tomorrow morning holds.
I did not think the ride in today was too bad, going home yesterday was worse! so jenna has some political posters she is looking for an opinion on, I am sure you all will be seeing samples soon! Of who likes what, so be prepared! Hope my sister had a nice birthday! She did call her Mom, so they did arrive safely, I know there was some concern as my sister booked the flight, but it sounds like it all worked out! Was flipping through the sports channels randomly last night, and stumbled upon 3 different announcers at 3 different times all talking about how pathetic the Sabres are, how bad is that! Other than that its Tuesday, did everyone get up at 4AM to watch the Pope's installation mass??? mm just as I thought. Enjoy the day, here's hoping you do not have to shovel!
I was watching Animal Planet last night and they were disgusted in the Sabres too. I just bought three items from Sierra Trading online for less than $20. I love it. 80% off. Woo Hoo!
It could not have been better timed. It is exactly 7 AM and the weather channel is announcing the official beginning of spring and at that moment the snow plow goes past 1070 grover. What else can be said? Enjoy?? the day.
Really, its spring? can not see out my office window currently as it is snowing that hard at Larkin Bldg! Yesterday I drove home in a blizzard, where traffic crawled along at 30 MPH, not believing the calendar that its spring! too funny that animal planet was lamenting the Sabres also! But not surprised, and hey they did win last night. See Niagara lost in the NIT, but to a tough Maryland team! Its wed, and it is never to early to plan the weekend! Stay warm!
Well here we are to Thursday! I have to tell you with candidate jenna in the midst, things are a hopping! Last night, quality dinner for graduating seniors, night before, clean air coalition meeting, and the list is endless! I am thinking you could become very active if you choose to be as there certainly is quite a bit going on! Sabres play tonight Bracket begins tonight, correct? I see the NCAA is investigating Syracuse for recruiting violations? I have always wondered how Jim Boeheim has remained under the radar for so long!!! I am really struggling with this gray cold weather! Sun Please!!! May you be able to draw a line through everything you need to do today!
Nc jnn, I want you to know that you are free to put all of the campaign posters that you want on our lawn but be advised that for now, at least, they would all be below the snow line and that probably wouldn't help much. Glad to see that you are in the middle of all the campaign activity. Can't wait to see my bracket busted. At least the sun is out, for now.
My social calendar has certainly grown since I decided to take the plunge. In the past 2 weeks I have had dinners, meetings, and just getting my name out. A formal annoucement is expected in the near future; along with a PR and article in the paper. I appreciate the offer to put signs up from all over! Rest assured; we will have signs from NY to FL and out to CO. I have quickly learned this is a "game" and only the strongest survive. I also have to think before I speak and with my Irish blood that's hard! It's a long road to November. Gram's advice to me: Keep plugging away, keep nose clean, and have clean underwear on. She has always been so supportative! One thing is for sure.... I wouldn't take this ride without you guys on my team.
Happy Friday! Great basketball games yesterday!!! Lots of fun to watch! I have to admit I bailed on the Sabres when it was 3-1, me bad! this is an open note to K, as much as I love the Oct BD party get together in Oct, can we please celebrate all birthdays in March? It is the 5th straight day of snow, wind and a temp of below 20 with the wind. And Hotlanta, hence the name, is at least in the 50's! Just a thought Extremely grateful its Friday! Enjoy the day and all that it brings!
Here we are back at the starting point, Monday, ugh So raise your hand if you are now currently an FGCU Eagle fan? Just as I expected. How can you not be, coach is a millionair, married to a supermodel and they are fun to watch! Who is still alive in there pool predictions? mmm not to many with their hand up.. Gonzaga losing I think did everyone in! First day in awhile that I have driven in and it was not snowing, so maybe we are moving in the right direction? Hopefully, its a quick week, with little or no interruptions!
My wed. comes on monday this week so I am over the hump already. Lots of basketball this weekend and not much else. Today and tomorrow work, to Atlanta on wed. and hopefully somewhat warmer conditions. Bisons open next week if they get the outfield shoveled in time. Yeah rah!
Happy Passover to all our Jewish family and friends. Happy Thursday to my brother? Was not sure how he calculated the days of the week? Day 2 of no snow driving into work, so that is good news! So this past weekend we discovered quite a few mole holes in the back yard, unbeknowst to me, we dumped moth balls down all the mole holes, noticed yesterday that the moles had pushed them all back up! And now I find out that moth balls are toxic! So we are on a mad clean up of moth balls in the yard for when bronx comes over! So note to all moth balls are toxic! so Lindy did not get the Tampa job, I am kind of surprised by that? not really Other than that, nothing really else is going on, still waiting for spring!
Since thursday is my last work day of the week, and this is my last work day this week, yes, in fact, this is thursday, at least for me, probably not for most of you. Now that we have that straight, and I hope that you do, there will be a quiz on this later. One of the questions may involve the number of commas used in the post, an excessive amount by any standards. It is early, and yes, I am a bit giddy, looking forward to getting to the end of today. Get rid of the mothballs and turn Bronks loose on the moles. Problem solved. Our task is to use commas today, they are a wonderful tool. Our next focus will be on semi colons (is that one word or two?). Enjoy the day.
Ooops, I think that should have been a semicolon between today and they. Your thoughts? (And I am throwing this straight line out there for any and all to jump on. Don't disappoint)
Good to know the snow is back! I am making Eggnog for Easter, in fact I think that will be my theme, Eggnog for Easter! Happy Wed, have a great day of travel brother and sister in law! Arrive safely! Other than that its Wed, the Sabres lost, UB hired a coach that has no head coaching experience what so ever, but has name recognition, because that is what that is all about! Still a little bitter the local guy got canned! Other than that, not to much else to report, just waiting for Opening Day!!!
Speaking of opening day, I posted a possible trade for all of you Yankee fans on the fantasy bb site. Can't wait to see who jumps on my offer. Snowing ever so nicely for now, but they keep promising a warm weekend. K says to bring swimsuits. I am packing but skeptical. Happy Easter to all.
Happy Maundy Thursday! I hope everyone survived the mini winter blast we got last night at rush hour! As normally a 15 minute ride turned into one hour! Glad my brother is in balmy hotlanta and does not have to endure the white stuff! So some interesting stuff, Joe Mihalic the Niagara U mens basketball coach is interviewing at Hofstra University! Hope NU can throw some more cash his way to intice him to stay, for such a small school they have always been competetive. My brother does have a trade offered, he has #42 on the blocks. apparently he has no faith that Mo can lock up some saves for him! Sabres play tonight, lets hope they stink less than they did the other day! The day will be over before you know it!
Happy Good Friday family! Things are certaintly heating up in my world here as I was reminded that I should no longer leave the house in my pajamas. Well this family will surely have a busy summer; Zachary's 16, Austin's 18, and his grad party. Where has the time gone? Please keep June 22nd free. His party will be at Fort Niagara and it would mean the world to him if you could join us. The Sabres? Pathetic! But I'm so glad Fitzpatrick was able to land on his feet. Lol Be on the look out for a new blog....
And a solemn Good Friday to all. lets recap the last 24 hours. Sabres, how many ways can you say UGH when referring to them, blow a lead and then loose in a shoot out, pathetic...with the trade deadline next week, who is tradable? Ryan Miller? Vanek? Maybe someone wants Gerbe? We will see! I did not think the basketball games were that great last night, cept for maybe the Ohio State game. Stopped and dropped off meds to my mother last evening and she was lamenting a book that she had gotten from NYS, it was entitled " Jesus of Nazareth" so I say to her well that sounds like a great book to listen to during holy week! She says well you would think so however, the Pope Benedict, after each passage offered his interpretation of the Biblical account, she said she promptly ended the book as to quote her she knows how the story ends! we all know how the story ends! Have a joyous Holiday weekend!
mmm little bit of catching up to do! Hope everyone had a nice Easter! Thanks K, for the pix! Such a awesome Atlanta family! we had a very nice Easter, had Mom and Aunt Corrine over, so it was nice, they ate and went home early! and the I was off for my birthday break, to which I was treated to a stinky Yankee Game, I am thinking of not watching til Granderson and Texeira come back. Anywhoo its baseball season and that means spring! right? Had a nice birthday lunch with my sister and my mom and now its back to work! How is everyone's bracket? Or should I ask is everyone still in it? As much as I am not a fan of Rick Pitino, I am kind of rooting for Louisville, as I feel sorry for the kid that broke his leg in 2 places on national TV while I was eating my Easter dessert. its Wed, home opener tomorrow, enjoy
Long time away but back in WNY to see the snow flying as we arrived. Had a great trip. The kids were super and we certainly enjoyed, as promised, our pool time. The neighborhood Easter egg hunt was a hoot and as outsiders we made sure that we helped ourselves to the Southern style pot luck dinner that followed. Got the invite to Zach/s 16th (maybe he can drive out to pick us up--how's that for an idea nphw jff) and are looking forward to the graduation celebration. Lot's happening and these are good things. Bisons at home? Really?
Good AM family: So much to look forward to this month! So excited that our family will have another driver. Time certaintly does fly. Last evening; I addressed the Democratic Committee (as a formality) seeking their blessing. I was interviewed by the committee, and after the interview; I was told I "knocked it out of the park", I "should run for higher office." So things are starting to progress. KDH, I can not thank you enough for your help in my poster. KDH and her very creative and wonderful logo designer made an amazing poster that I will use for stickers, lawn signs, teeshirts, letterhead, etc. I tried posting it on the blog; but I couldn't figure it out. Let's talk sports; The C has been traded? Does anyone know if the goalie we acquired is decent? Don't youtube Kevin Ware injury, and I guess now I am rooting for Louisville. You know it is spring when the Bisons are home today! Enjoy the day. It's a victory when I post before B in the AM.
Happy Home Opener!! Just an FYI, lots of Ice on the River, it will be cold downtown, if you are attending the game! So the only trade that Mr Darcy could finnagle was shipping off the captain. thought for sure miller and vanek would be gone this morning! 2 games into the season and the Yankee's still have not won a game, not to despair! At least the sun is out, and it did not snow on my drive in! Have a great day family
Starting on an apologetic note that I did not wish my little sister a BIG H-B, altho belated, when I posted yesterday. I did hear that an appropriate celebration was held at Bob Evans, so I know that it was a good bday. Saw some of the campaign poster designs while in Hotlanta. Lookin good! Can't wait until the campaign begins in earnest. Thinking about the Bisons game tomorrow. Earlier start and less crowded. we will have to see. I lost track of the Sabres while gone. Are they officially "toast"? Or are they still alive mathmatically? Enjoy the day.
I'm also contemplating going to tomorrow's Bisons game. Maybe it'll just be me and Zachary. I took the day off hoping it would decent weather. I guess 50 and partly sunny would be considered decent. I'll look for ya.
I am very excited that today is Friday! The birds chirping woke me up, but no complaints here. The Bisons won, so that's a plus! I attended a social gathering last night where everyone raved about our posters! I'm officially back to square 1 as I have no idea which one to choose. Have a great day!
Happy Friday! Bisons won, Yankees win and Sabres play tonight. Weather is suppose to be getting better, sun is out, and the world looks a little brighter today! enjoy the day, and the coming weekend!
The wind/breeze will be my determining factor today. 42 and sunny may work but if there is any wind....Otherwise I may have to stay home and start cleaning up the yard. Maybe a little wind won't be too bad if I dress warm. Thinking that there wont be 15000+ in attendance today. Enjoy it for what it is. Watching the Braves game last nite in the drizzle with the player's breath showing, I am thinking that we got out of not so hot lanta just in the nick of time.
Yep, we stayed home. A lil too nippy out on Friday. Then Saturday from the moment I woke up until 7pm I was busy, busy, busy. Sunday, lost our power for a bit... So we all sat outside and enjoyed the sun (and wind) while I grilled sausage. Enjoy your week everyone.
Monday Monday, just cant stop that day!!! Sung to the tune of the Momma's and the Poppa's song, seriously no one harmonizes anymore! So my performance evaluation is due today, and the process starts with a self evaluation, what my strenghts are, what my weakness's are, blah blah blah, I am thinking of just regurgitating what I wrote last year? thoughts? sabres are on a streak, 3 in a row! so where has that been all year? Other than that , it was the usual saturday and sunday, saturday chores, sunday, gg for dinner.. Other than the usual Monday stuff, get through the day as best you can!
I'm not bragging but I picked L'ville Michigan in the final. Michigan winning it all. I'm just sayin'. Here, I'll give you advise on your yearly performance. " No one else can do my job... That's it. I'm one of a kind".
Happy gray sky tuesday! I thought it was a good game, and I was rooting for the underdog. proud of my nephew for picking the winner, hope you won lots of money! Did everyone notice the new cleveland logo? odd to see swisher on a different team. Lets hope the sabres keep their winning streak going! Have we planned another day for Gary's birthday party? I just dont want to miss out on that!
Congrats Zach!!! No I was referring to the celebration of I refuse to be any older party for your dad? I would like to take this time to officially boo the sabres, Is that OK? I would also like to review some anonymous suggestions made for Holtzapalloza 2016. A) Atlanta B) Quincy C) North Tonawanda D) East Aurora
so far those are the top 4 destination requests for Holtzapalooza 2016. I am hoping we can expand our vision just a tad. But I have to admit the arguement for NT was a convincing one! Its wed, in my world, its meeting day! Live a purposeful life! At least today anyway!
Those cities make up the four corners of the world. You can't go wrong with any of them. They all offer so much. Of course I'm partial to my home city... But who wouldn't be? Holtzapalooza 2016 has a nice ring to it.
Boooooooo! I'm just getting ready for the next Sabres game.
rainy rainy windy windy thursday! It is so hard to juggle umbrella, coffee cup, work bag, lunch bag etc! am I becoming one of those "old" ladies who uses a wheelie cart to get into work everyday??? I hope not, so our daughter the candidate, good movie by the way, has scheduled a family picture to be taken, which will be used on her campaign website and all her campaign material. So be on the look out for the koch family coming soon to a mailbox near you! Rangers won last night, so the sabres playoff hopes are slipping away! Did everyone see Ed Kilgour is going to work for Terry pegula, I want to work for Terry Pegula! Do you think he hired him to improve his media relations? Cuz you know he blames the media for the Sabres woes! Just wondering??? Yankees got rained out last night, so I was forced to watch back to back to back episodes of Duck Dynasty! Enjoy the day and all that it brings!
My day began with the closure of the 290 at Colvin. Fortunately I was headed for my usual thurs. AM Athena's stop sothe back up only cost me a few minutes. As yet the name of the 18 yr. old who was hit crossing the 290 and is from Tonawanda (city? town?) hasn't been released so my day here is quiet. I am sure that he is someone who will be known to at least some of the girls. Not a "chamber of commerce" day? week? month? year? here in WNY. Take care. Better days are coming.
Well it's 10:30pm and I am just starting to relax before I kick it into high gear again tomorrow. The campaign appointed a campaign manager (dad) and treasurer (Jill). I was instructed that I could not use campaign finances for drive thru. Who knew? November is a LONG way away
so very happy its friday. Another rainy dreary day! Here's hoping the day goes quickly. No big plans this weekend, may venture off to see "42"? We were going to go to the Bisons game tonight, but I am thinking that will be rained out. Oh doing my official birthday dinner at the Remington tomorrow. Will let everyone know how that goes! My daughter is a little annoyed with me as I want to be there at 4:30, so we can eat at 5. Seriously what is wrong with eating at 5?? We have an additional entry for Destination Holtzapalooza 2016, its Ashville! Not that Rick requested we come, I just added it! If you love what you do, you never work a day in your life! me, I'm at work!
Just finished watching the end of the Masters. Way too much time but one heck of an ending. Reminded me of my duel with nphw jff at Beaver Island a few years back. Gotta work 3 days this week. Doesn't make me happy. See you all tomorrow.
Must have been a Verozon Fios free weekend, as Time Warner, no such luck! My daughter and I did rent, Hyde Park on the Hudson, where Bill Murray plays FDR, and I can honestly say it was the most dreadful movie I have ever seen! Guess there was a reason it got horrible reviews! Good Masters, Good Sabres Games! Yankees won, and no hitter got broken up in Beanville, so all in all good sports weekend! We need a new blog, anyone have anything good to post? Adm, new Benjamin Pix? Get your money to Uncle Sam, folks! Follow the rules today with a positvie attitude!
So talking to Mom last nite and she is complaining of gout in her left middle toe. A little research indicates that strawberries are supposed to help. Anyhow, a quick run this AM and dropped off the berries as well as tomatoes, supposedly another remedy. We will see.She was up and dressed and looked good, altho with, for her, a lot of complaints. That's the high point of my day so far. enjoythe clouds.
I wish I would have known you were making a run, you could have grabbed her some butter! Forgot it on Sunday. Sorry you had to do that brother, I could have done that today. Glad to hear that the despicable events of yesterday did not affect nephew and his family. loved the warmer weather, do you think we can finally put away our winter coats??? Enjoy the day and all the challenges that it brings!
I thought that it was an epic battle, at least as close as I ever get. It took me until the 18th hole to lose which is better than most. Sun is shining, at least for awhile. Enjoy the day.
mmm that is kind of odd?? I thought I had posted a most witty thought provoking Wed post, and I see it is not there? Now I know for certain that I can not recreate it, as it is closer to the end of the day, than the beginnning of the day, and I am so more AM gal vs a PM gal! But I see my daughter has deleted the encroucher! That seems to be happening more and more lately! Enjoy your Wed Evening, a Sabres game is on tap!
Happy Thursday! Well the Sabres are 2 points out of a playoff spot and news that Lindy Ruff landed on his feet with a coaching job was good news to wake up to. Thank you to Unk for bring gram her berries for her self diagnosed gout. At 96, I am sure she may come up with symptoms that only restaurant style chips and butter rum muffins could cure. Enjoy the day!
As I tell my students, don't count the days, make the days count! I know we all live by those words. Sabres still have a pulse? I didn't realize. The only thing that really matters is HFFBB and I am getting killed week after week. Thank God for "MO" Rivera and to think that I almost let him slip away. Sorry nphw jff. And for all of you fans out there, nphw did offer me some guy named soda pop Kelly or some such thing straight up for MO. Can you believe it? And now its fertilizer plants? We don't have any around here, do we?
Make the days count! I think that will be our Holtzapalooza theme! It can adorn beer cozzies and t shirts! So say all? So I forgot butter with the Sunday shopping list for Anastasia, which I promptly dropped off last night, she is too funny, got to her about 4:30, and of course she is no where around. As that is the time she makes her rounds with the girls! Strated to watch the Sabre game, but seriously, tragic events aside, how can anyone root for them??? I cant. Watched some of the game, saw they were down 1-0, then headed over to watch CC. Suppose to be a nice day, while I am at work and then snow showers on Saturday??? Its non pay day Thursday in my world! Pay it forward
Seriously Robinson, swinging at the curve that hits you!!!! I know I know frivelous Yankee talk while a manhunt is going on, but what more can you say, other than everyone has the power to disrupt your life, By The Grace of God, we dont find that person! The weather is changing, its Friday. I believe the Sabres play the Rangers tonight?? Do they still have a pulse??? Not sure where we are in the playoff pict? Enjoy the weekend. Campaign photo's are scheduled for tomorrow, coming to a mailbox to you soon!
If nphw jff has photos from the camping trip with the sasquatch family in Mass. or of UG on a unicycle, either or both would make an excellent blog. I can't decide yet whether it is the 37 degrees and snow or the 40 mph winds that is making today so delightful. I will make a final determination on that and get back to you. That was certainly quite a lively exchange of email yesterday. Only one missing was nphw rck. Maybe all of the sasquatch sightings in the mts. around Ashville make him a bit uneasy.
ah yes, and how about dem sabres? Seems as if the players don't much like the Buffalo fans any longer. Is Richie Ryan still president of the Sabres fan club? Is Richie Ryan still? Anybody else remember Richie Ryan?
Hppy Monday! I noticed my brother totally by passed the blob about yankee greats! Not sure why, as that would have been entertaining! So Jenna had her publicity pictures taken this weekend, turned out very nice! Other than that it was a quiet weekend, minus the blizzard Saturday AM! Not sure if everyone remembers April of 76, but it did snow quite a bit that April, thats 1976, not 1876! Did everyone hear big pappys speech on national TV? I am quessing as English is his second language, he may not know thats an inappropriate word to use??? Excited for the Birthday Open House! Will Zach be coming to the party right from the DMV? Just wondering??? Get through the day as best you can!
Sun shining 2 days in a row? Talked to Mom and she feels well enough for a late lunch/early supper tonite. Marvelous recuperative powers. Down to my final 12 class days. Another year older and ..... thank you tennessee ernie ford. Enjoy the day. That sound you heard was me jumping on the Bisons bandwagon. 8 in a row on the road? Do you believe? I have always been a Jonas Enroth fan. See you all on friday. Yeah, JT, what to bring along? I know you can always use more beer at least.
Per Gramma, she wants me to tell anyone and everyone that she does not feel well every day! She was excited and thrilled that she was being asked out to dinner!
Thank goodness Winter returned and I had to scrape my car windows this AM!!!! Bisons are on a tear!!! Double header today, anyone going?? Final episode of the season last night for Duck Dynasty! Man that was a quick 10 episodes! AP looked good on the mound but still lost! And my B-I-L attended the 23 degree Rockies game, and of course the reason it was so cold in mid april was because of the Republicans an Harry Reid. Everyone who reads his rants on FB will understand that statement! Looking forward to tomorrow! Early HB Zach!!!
Happy Friday Family! Very excited for birthday celebration tonight! Austin, very much wanted to come, but however, and a drum roll please, he can not come because he got a job! Working at a local green house, he is very excited! But the remaining of the koch clan will be there! So what does everyone think about what the bills did last evening? good draft pick??? I will say one thing, he is a big guy! See everyone this evening!
Pretty quiet here. just wishing all of the appropriate people happy birthdays and happy anniversaries as our April comes to a close. Hope that everyone renews their Sabre season tickets at the increased price levels. I wish I knew the correct spelling of that yiddish word that sounds like "HUTSPAH"
well 37 years ago today, geo and I rolled the dice, I think when you look back on an anniversary, you always ask yourself would you have done it again? thinking back, things definately could have been done differently, but having said that, would we be where we are today? I would say, a do over would be in order! Busy day yesterday, was at Children's all day for their EMR go live, UGH! Then a trip to the dentist ! UGH I have to tell you, I follow my classy S-I-L on Pinterest, always hoping her sense of style and grace rubs off on me, but she is following on pinterest, how to clean your glass oven door?? What is up with that? Had Cathy over for dinner on Sunday, hoping that AC makes a full recovery! And a shout out to RB! Wishing the nicest guy I ever met, hopes and prayers that everything turns out OK! Great birthday party for Zach! What a terrific young man he is, there is hope for this world people! RAZZBERRIES to the sabre organization, as they now make the Bills look like a class act!
Way to go AB!! My writing has never been acknowledged by Cheap Oakley Sunglasses. Nice to see credit given where it is due. Two days in a row at work. Not much has changed at Mercy Hospital. Glad to see that the Astros bats finally came alive. Watching "you know who" winning with a depleted roster has been as depressing as watching my HFFBB team drop like a rock into last place. Woe is me!! Time for a new blog. How about Zach driving on his first road trip?
Happy Wed! I have a lot of work to do today, so this update will be brief. Aunt Corinne was discharged to home, so that was good news! The Yankees won, even better news. Could care less about the hockey playoffs. The woodchuck that has taken up residence in my backyard has eaten all the new shoots for my ferns. Death can not come quickly enough for this brown invader! Have a great day all!

Happy Birthday Gramma! We love you.
Nice pictures.
Ok, so, what do the Sabres do tonight?
Happy Birthday Gramma! We love you.
Nice pictures.

Really Sabres? Really?
Really Sabres? Really?
Happy Birthday Eve - AP
The only Holtz who gets better looking every year!!!
Have a nice golf outing brother!
keeping the streak alive, thats committment!
Where do you think Unckie is at 3:28? I'm guessing not 5 hours away.
Happy happy Birthday Aunt Patti! We love ya.
We're always ready for a party.
March 1st! Unckie starts all over again. Welcome back Unckie.
Hmmmmm... Woke up to a lil' snow this AM.
Did everyone see Rick's hat on Facebook? It looks like he'llneed help getting it off.
Not me calling GR55... I've got nuttin' to say to them.
We're off to Williamsburg on Friday maybe we'll pass mom and Auntie B on the highway. wouldn't that be funny?
Well, we'll see what the shoot out brings.
Can't wait for our mini vacation. I know, don't wish your days away.
Geo's family is planning a family reunion, for all of his cousins, and that is kind of entertaining also as they try to work out places, dates, times and a menu
More to come on that.
VATICAN CITY (AP) — Black smoke has poured from the Sistine Chapel chimney, signaling that cardinals have failed to elect a pope on their first try.
It was the toast.
Sabres got a win
And Nix got punked!
do a little better than survive the day!
Enjoy Friday
And beware of the ides of march!
WOW
all and all its monday, be a blessing today not a burden!
More snow? Poor Adm.
Sabres play tonight
Bracket begins tonight, correct?
It's madnessssssssss!
I love this time of the year.
Billicans, Shockers, Zaga... It's madnesssssss!
I'm watching Tru TV and they think the Sabres stink.
Southern within two!
If it's on tru tv it's gotta be true. Me, I'm goin to bed to get my strength to shovel again tomorrow morning. UGGGGGGGHHHH!!!!
Just a thought
Extremely grateful its Friday!
Enjoy the day and all that it brings!
Here we are back at the starting point, Monday, ugh
So raise your hand if you are now currently an FGCU Eagle fan?
So note to all moth balls are toxic!
so Lindy did not get the Tampa job, I am kind of surprised by that? not really
Other than that, nothing really else is going on, still waiting for spring!
Lol
Be on the look out for a new blog....
Happy Birthday mom! Thanks for all you do!
mmm little bit of catching up to do!
Really?
Pominville to Minnesota....
Good AM family:
So much to look forward to this month! So excited that our family will have another driver. Time certaintly does fly.
Last evening; I addressed the Democratic Committee (as a formality) seeking their blessing. I was interviewed by the committee, and after the interview; I was told I "knocked it out of the park", I "should run for higher office."
So things are starting to progress.
Good Gary's BDay? Ooh, I want to be invited to that one.
Ummmmm no, no money. Zachary won his bracket and $65. I'm came in second. But in gambling, what does second place get me? Unkie?
Congrats Zach!!!
No I was referring to the celebration of I refuse to be any older party for your dad?
I would like to take this time to officially boo the sabres, Is that OK?
I would also like to review some anonymous suggestions made for Holtzapalloza 2016.
A) Atlanta
B) Quincy
C) North Tonawanda
D) East Aurora
so far those are the top 4 destination requests for Holtzapalooza 2016.
Enjoy the day and all that it brings!
etsy??? should be Betsy
No funds can be used at the drive thru? That's ludicrous, how are you going to meet people?
Friday!
Sunday already?
Free Starz weekend so we're watching movies.
I am grabbing comment #100 too. Yeah for me.
Did Nike just get free advertising on our site? Sheesh... Aren't they from China.
So gloomy, rainy... Ahhhh whatever. At least it's not snowing.
Unkie, did we have an epic battle on the island?
That's funny.
Thursday indeed, kinda wish it was Friday. But I've been told not to wish my days away.
Unkie, i offered you Three Finger Brown for Mo, straight up. But I could be swayed to throw in a late round drft pick too.
I'm going to start making my days count.
Time for a new blog! Suggestions, thoughts, idea's ???
We could do a blob about Yankee greats?
Nope.
I think Rck started all the Bigfoot talk down in Asheville. He's a media guru.
Miller got booed... I love it.
Hey Rices, We are looking forward to the big bash on Friday! What can we bring to help out?
UGH
I have to tell you, I follow my classy S-I-L on Pinterest, always hoping her sense of style and grace rubs off on me, but she is following on pinterest, how to clean your glass oven door?? What is up with that?
Had Cathy over for dinner on Sunday, hoping that AC makes a full recovery!
And a shout out to RB! Wishing the nicest guy I ever met, hopes and prayers that everything turns out OK!
Great birthday party for Zach! What a terrific young man he is, there is hope for this world people!
RAZZBERRIES to the sabre organization, as they now make the Bills look like a class act!
You could definitely see your skills within the work you write.
The world hopes for more passionate writers such as you
who are not afraid to say how they believe. At all
times go after your heart.

I have it on good authority a new blog is in the works, lets see if this said author, keeps their word!
I think you're right Unkie, a new blog is needed. Said author? Boris Said? He or h needs to step up to the plate.
Sandra and I,sans kiddos, are off to PA for our nieces play today. Sandra idea of a random and crazy adventure. I get to watch a musical. Eh, okay.
