A most impressive list, and with me being the first to comment. Gives you something to shoot for in 2015. 2 different ones on 10/11? That's a busy day. A Happy New year to all. Hope that 2015 is going well so far. Made it to 9:00 on ny eve. Guess that we are in the heart of winter now. No way around it. Hoping for good weather next friday for our missedmis trip to hopefully Hotlanta. Enjoy the weekend all.
You beat Unkie. Sandra and I went to bed at 10 and we popped the champagne cork at 8.
A very wired football game. It was pretty close to unwatchable.
Let's try it again.
You beat us Unkie.
There.
Canada v Russia on NHL network. What a game!
Hey Jeff...you forgot Vespers! Ha!
Oh yeah! Vesper Concert.
Sooooo... We're in for some nasty cold weather. Possibly no school tomorrow? Unckie. Any insight on this?
Hmmmm... Really quiet.
Is it something I said?
Is everyone getting prepped oft an interview with the Bills? Weird.
expected to be on the way to really not hot lanta but our flight was cancelled due to the "storm". so we are rescheduled for 2 weeks from now. Up since 4 am trying to figure out what was going to happen and now the sun is out. what a day. Hope that the weekend is better. stay warm
Oh NO How disappointing! It cleared up by 9, what time was your flight? I hope you did not wake your lovely wife up while you paced endlessly to finally be told nope cancelled.
You can always come down to Harbor Center this weekend for Winterfest. Stay safe warm and dry and you can always shovel!
LOL... I can see him pacing.
My first post didn't go through. Maybe I'm a robot.
I have to say I am officially over cleaning off cars, snowblowing, shoveling, etc. Winter please go away! Some great football games this weekend! Birthday celebration on Saturday for the council woman, we trekked up to the Casino for some slots, poker and buffet, in reality it was just buffet! Fun nonetheless with the Everett's!
On a side note, Jill will be inducted on the THS Wall of Fame on Feb 10th. So that is exciting.Other than that, just taking my tree down tonight, and watching it snow!
Hall of Fame. That's awesome!, congratulations.
Love Rex's line, he is going to turn us into bully's!!!
Lets hope!
Happy snowy and bitterly cold Wed!
UGH to that and another Sabres loss!
Stay warm!
I loved the Ryan press conference... I bought it all. I'm an idiot. But a love able idiot.
-2 this morning when I went to work... I'm thinking that's pretty cold.
Gotta love sexy rexy. He is certainly saying all the right things and does not fit the stereotype of past Bills coaches. And on top of it all, at the Big Tree Inn. Sorry now that I stopped going there. I just hope that the walk equals the talk. In any event, he won't be boring. -16 as I began my trip to kenmore on wed. am. Fortunately it warmed a bit as I neared MSM. Looking forward to nc jll's induction into the THofF. Until then, stay warm all.
I had a really nice time last night at MSM Father/ daughter dance.
It's still cold but looks to warm up by tonight. I may just stay under some covers until then.
the father/daughter dance is, by all accounts, a really nice event. Glad to hear that you attended. Got a phone call at 6:15 this AM from my favorite son wanting to know if I wanted to "meet him for breakfast" after he had completed his bloodwork. A brisk -4 this am but it was fun to have breakfast out. The rest of the day??? Who knows. Scheduled for Hotlanta next weekend. Hopefully the weather will cooperate this time and the plan is to play golf next sat. Enjoy our scheduled brief warmup..
Saw where Ron Shiesley died. The question of who was the craziest Shiesley was one that often started serious arguments, but my vote was definitely for Rughead. Remembered 2 great stories but I really can't post them for reasons of 1. length and 2. possible litigation. I promise to bore you with them at our next get together, but one does definitely involve the Eldredge Club, which may or may not be the site of the gathering after the THS H of F induction ceremony, according to nc jnn. Hope that everyone has tomorrow off.
Adam called at 6:15? Wowza, that's early. What a nice boy. Who bought?
I had a nice day off doing "practically nothing". Thank goodness we're not obligated to work like Labor Day. So I can't be judged.
The kids went to see Into The Woods with the Fixxits. Rumor has it my dad took a nap and then pretended like he was watching by making statements that had nothing to do with the storyline.
It's cold.
Sandra is recording a CD. Zach is working. Emma is in the kitchen singing Into The Woods.
Ok, ya convinced me I'll grab a beer and watch a college ball game.
I can't wait to hear a Rughead story.
supposed to be heading to not so hot lanta tomorrow but I guess that it all depends on winter storm Olaf or whatever they are calling this one. my jan. round of golf depends on getting there. anyway, son adm feels vindicated that deflategate just substantiates what he has always contended about Bellichek. How can you doubt a guy like that? who do you root for in the superbowl, him or willis mcgahee or whoever that seattle running back is? Enjoy the weekend.
Have fun down south. I hope you get your golfing in.
Sandra's off to Florida on Sunday, it's a little warmer there.
We're left behind this time so we'll have to treat ourselves to some fast food.
Back in Wny and glad to have been able to slip in between the weather systems. Last 2 trips to coolanta, oct. and this one, have not been easy. Today was really stressful not knowing if we would be able to get here from Baltimore, but we did. Yesterday, sunday, was 55 and clear in Atlanta, and I was able to "swing the clubs" with resident rate and senior citizen rate, cost me less than $10 to walk 9 holes. Hope that all goes well with sndr's connections and the fast food makes up for being left behind.
Can we all say how long January has been? Was kind of annoyed at the non stop coverage of Olaf, and the potential miniscule snow that will be deposited in Times Square, but Boston did look kind of bad! Hope the trip to Hotlanta was fun? so just a reminder a birthday mass for mom will be held 02/22 @ 8:30AM at St Francis. Jill will be inducted into the Tonawanda Wall of Fame on Feb 10th and other than that not much else.
Planning our trip to the flower show in March. I hope my brother in law had a great birthday on Sunday! stay warm and limber!
Sandra's back safe and sound. There was a flight delay but no worries, she made it home.
Emma does not have school so I took the day off too. We go get some breakfast in a little while, maybe Athena's.
Do I speak for all in saying it's a joy to say farewell to Jan.?? Not much else to do except watch the weather a hope for improvements to come. I think that it took less ice than is on my roof to sink the Titanic. Any chance that both teams can lose tomorrow? Stay warm.
That might be tough... But it would be nice.
Is it too soon to make Titanic references? No? Ok.
Zach and I went to DYouville this morning for a financial aid workshop (it begins). The best part was going to Gabriel Gate afterwards for wings. Delish.
Ok. Day two of "I'm gonna have wings"! I'm going to bake up some garlic parm wings for the big game. I'm wearing my Bills jersey too. That'll make 'Em taste better.
Ummmmmhh Wings!! Great idea! Gotta go get some before snowmageddon #4 hits later today. Guess that I will watch the game after all. Maybe Pete Carrol and Bellichuck will duke it out at midfield before the game. Any chance of a "wardrobe malfunction" with Katy Perry?
Well the Holtz Koch luck continues. If Seattle would of scored a touchdown, I would have $600 extra dollars. Instead, we all know what happened.
I thought the commercials were somewhat depressing. Anyone else get teary eyed during the McDonald's commercial? Yeah I thought so. On the other hand, I'm sure cases of foot fungus are on the rise. Enjoy your day!
Happy birthday, Mr Benjamin! Not sure of the day, I will have to check the Holtz family almanac to be accurate, but I know it is soon! Did not watch a lot of the game, would just periodically check the score! Very sick of snow! Brutal drive into work today, tried to avoid the city streets, but ended up on them anywhoo! I quess cheaters do prosper!!! Stay home if you can, if you cant drive safe!
Kudos to nc emma for her 100 on the social studies midterm. That news was by far the best thing that happened to me today. What a ride in. Can you believe that Seattle call to throw from the 1 yard line? It only shows that there has to be a satanic pact at work in NE. Shoveling at 5 AM. I am done for the day. Early to bed for me. Did the groundhog get out of his burrow to see his shadow? Stay warm.
Emma's 100 was incredible. Good for her. She actually got a 95 and created the 5 point curve for everyone else... pretty cool though to get the best score on the exam.
I'm still trying to get understand that call to end the game... a pass?
I got an email from Nephew#1 if I was busy on Friday??? What do you think that means?
WinterHoltzapalooza!!!
Winter Holtzapalooza!!! Will there be games? So excited as I am officially over snow! Not even an impending flower show can assist with my winter doldrums!
I am excited for the friday meet and greet! enjoy the day and may your shovel do the job!
Please make it stop snowing, amen
See you all tonight!
Good morning,
Get ready for another snow blast.
I have to go get dome gas for my blower. Yesterday I spent quite a bit of time clearing off the roof and clearing out a path for the dog.
I need to golf.
Sorry that we missed the get together on friday. I am sure that everyone had a much needed break from our winter. I had vowed that this winter I wasn't going to be the daily complaining wienie that I was last winter. I didn't complain when my "guaranteed for life" snow shovel broke, the one I just bought, altho there are some who might argue that i bought it when Adam was still in H.S. but in any event, I suffered the indignity of having to buy a new shovel; I didn't complain about the daily drives to the northtowns this past weekend; I haven't complained about the icebergs on my roof and the subsequent leaks at the window, but now I see that the end of this week is going to be the coldest period of the winter????? When is enough, enough? We deserve something better than this I say. Oh, and I tested the email for Nash Rd. and that was 3 days ago. Are they out of town, don't check their email or is it just me? Can i go to the flower show too? It was so bad yesterday that I watched Perth v. Adelaide for the Australian baseball championship. Pitchers and catchers need to report to camp immediately and my favorite daughter reported that Jefferson's baseball season began this weekend. There, I just made up for my lack of complaining. It has been a mere 83 days since november's snowmageddon. I'm done.
I watched that game too... that's funny. Is the snow over with? That's it?
Happy Monday! so the drive into work was made way more interesting by a gas leak down on great arrow, and emergency trucks everywhere! If it was not payroll day, I would have turned around and went home! My human spirit is waving the white flag!
Lots of fun at the pilaf's on friday, other than way to many people there it was lots of fun ( wink wink) lets see yesterday, we shoveled, shoveled some more etc
So gramma had ordered grampa's name to be added to the Military Wall up at Vet with Grampa's name on it, On August 15th
they called gramma asked her to confirm the information and told her she would get a letter stating when his name would be added. When Jenna went into City Hall the other day, they handed her this letter post marked in November and marked undeliverable, and it was the confirmation that Grampa's name had been added to the wall.
Just another affirmation how I have not gotten all of Gramma's mail! UGH to the postal service!
Enjoy this snowy, gray cold day as much as you can!
Finally made contact with the Fixxitts, surprisingly not by email, and we are scheduled to meet up with them prior to tomorrow nite's festivities at Swiston's for a beef and beverage beginning at about 4:30. Anyone looking for a stopover prior to convening at THS, love to see ya. Until tomorrow evening
That's sounds nice but Emma has art class at 4. Have fun and we'll see everyone at 6.
that sounds wonderful! count geogy and I in, we can raise our glass to the Feb birthdays and anniversary celebration! And again if the weather is putrid, please stay home, safety first!
Did they serve up Woodcock?
Last nite was definitely worth staying up beyond my normal bedtime. What a great event! So proud and happy to be included. Thanks again nc jll for including AP and I in your evening. I just finished talking about the details with Kristen and she loved hearing about a real "WNY nite". Stay warm this weekend all. It's going to be a rough one.
It is currently 5 degrees and -15 wind chill. I cant wait to see what tomorrow brings.
I think the sun being out makes all the difference in the world, dont you? said no one ever! -3!
The Wall of Fame Ceremony, was a lot of fun! I cant thank the UC and AP enough for trudging into the Norhtowns for the evening! What a hooot watching Chuck and Gary wander the halls of good ole THS, trying different locker combinations! Just a great evening compliments of my daughter! Good to know the Sabres and Flyers are the featured game of the week on Sunday! Happy Valentines day to my family! Birtheday celebration for Geo on Sunday! Oh and today is Friday the 13th, dont walk under ladders, or in front of a black cat!
A balmy -8 as I sit here, glad to not have to venture out this AM. Better here than new england tho, so there is a price to pay for their cheating and super bowl win. A big HB to UG. Hope you can find a way to warmly celebrate your day. Valentine's Day? One of my favorites-not so much. Too many recollections of all of the days of deliveries in class back when you didn't have to have a valentine for everyone. At least no shovelling with this day off. Make the most of the weekend. At least we had tuesday nite.
I think I just shed a tear. Poor Unckie.
Sandra and I are off to Hydraulic Hearth and then on to A re-opened Ulrichs. Enjoy V Day.
-6 when I woke up this morning at 6:30. The dog still wanted to go out, unknowingly. It took him 4 seconds to decide to come back in.
I couldn't believe all the churches in the area that closed today, like a little kid I waited for my church's name to appear and then my disappointment when it didn't show up. Maybe I'll grow up one day.
Everyone enjoying all of this yet? I have developed a new appreciation for the verb "to endure" because that is what this has become. 40 degrees warmer in Anchorage, alaska this AM. Time for a field trip to warm up? Really looking forward to a week off. May even get to stick my head out the door. Endure.
Hopefully once we get through this week, it will be all downhill to spring! I wonder how anxious 1298 Nash is with flying out tomorrow? Should we do an over under on how many times the plane is de iced? Had a mini birthday party for geo yesterday, too cold to go out, but still need to celebrate! other than that stay warm!
Looks like a good day for the Fixxitts to travel. Hope that all goes well. Wish that I was with them. Tired of watching weather reports where they don't even offer any hope of improvement. Only productive thing that I have done is research home baseball dates for the Lansing Lugnuts. Definitely in my future, along with the GreatLakes Loons. Retiring the numbers of Pettite, Posada and Bernie Williams? Come on you Yankee fans. How much longer before the everyday Yankee players will be wearing letters on their uniforms? Ruth, Gehrig, DiMaggio, Mantle, Andy Pettite? Yes, it flows. Where to hold A-Rod's press conference on his return? Another question of the day. Come on nphw, AB. The blog awaits.
OK I am saying Uncle, just sayin!
So when I looked at departures this morning, every plane out to NYC after 8:00AM was delayed? So my question to the fixxits is, if you are at the airport at 5AM why not take the first flight out? Just wondering why they waited til 9? Oh well, hope they got outta dodge!!! My poor brother he can only escape to Orchard Park or Atlanta, and both have crummy weather! other than that, just trying to get through each sub zero day as they come!!! Come on spring!
PS I do agree with my brother Andy Pettite, should not have his 46 retired!
I Agee too. He was a good pitcher, a really good pitcher in the playoffs, not a great pitcher... And a player who took steroids. Not a fan of this. Bernie Williams, same thing a good player, a really good player. But come on... Retire the number? Posada? I'm torn... He might be "retire the number" worthy. This could be a good debate.
I wanna see the Lugnuts play.
Bill Dickey? Yogi? Thurman? Jorge? 4 catchers from one franchise worthy of having their numbers retired? Aunti says that she Can't wait to yell "GO NUTS"!!! Wind chill advisory in Fort myers can't be making the Fixxitts happy.
brrr and now I really mean brr!
I really think this is more than the human spirit can endure! so when the number one son of the fixxits was contacted yesterday and asked did his parents arrive safely his response, no idea, they are survivors! So we are not really sure where they are? Seriously 35 in Miami?? I bet those snowbirds are angry birds!
Hang in there folks! We can make it til spring! They showed Bison stadium on the news, and it is covered in snow! Thoughts on it being gone by April 9th????
Happy Friday, hope Adam is feeling better. Loved that he was tweeting his surgical procedure! Good day to recupperate, what is it -36?
Hope my sister brought her winter coat to the sunshine state, sounds like she will need it!
Stay warm everyone, and remember to raise your glass to Anastasia on Sunday! Or any day for that matter!
Yesterday was ridiculously cold.
Emma and I had a nice time at the Sabres game last. She was very excited that she got to see a fight. Too funny. Said, she didn't care that they lost the game but seeing a fight made it worth it.
