Happy 99th, Anastasia! May the Angels serenade you today! Happy ? to you as well GW! Fine with me where ever we go for dinner! 5PM, is good as well. Hope everyone enjoyed our spring weekend! Weather was downright balmy! Did everyone watch the debate? Yea me neither! Other than that, not to much else going on? Meeting my sister and cousin for dinner tonight and will definitely raise a glass to Mom! Congrats to Amanda and Dan, and their new son! Enjoy the day!
Happy Birthday Mom. Missing you. GW would be 284 today in case anyone cares. Mom plus 185. She always got mad whenever I told her it was a lot closer than that. Any/all of those dinner suggestions sound fine. Keep the sunshine coming!
I walked into the break room at work today to find a giant bag of peanut M&Ms on the counter. I always associate those with Gram, so I felt like she was saying Hi and sharing a birthday treat with me. Did my best not to eat the whole bag :)
Missing my family today but not your weather -- in the 70s here this past weekend, perfect for Jefferson's first baseball game!
UGH to snow! I too am throwing out some Fish Fry places Kellers Tap Room Double D Lounge Jesters Bedell's Candle light Enjoy Friday eve Ugh to the Sabres loss!
atleast it isn't snowing in clearwater, butit is runningabout 15 degrees below average. 60 and sunny for today. Looking for ways to help auntie celebrate her last day of her 60's. There is a really annoying semi functioning space bar on this hotel computer. Enjoy the weekend. All of the places sounded good. Let's figure out who is coming and work toward the least travel for the fewest people.
Happy Happy Birthday Eve, Antie P!! I hope you have a wonderful birthday! Looking forward to the weekend, not like that is news to anyone, but our goal for the weekend is to get our passports! As 6 months from today we leave for Italy! So that is the goal Other than that, did my brother know its suppose to be 50 on Friday? Enjoy the weekend!
Happy Birthday Auntie P! Tomorrow, right? Yeah!!! Have a great day. It's Buffalo, every fish fry will be fantastic... But it would be nice if we all fit. That might be the true challenge.
so tried to upload the picture sent to me by my niece of her Dad drinking a cold one out of a yankee glass!!! A classic blog picture, one for the ages right up there with Jff's Rodents, My Niagara Falls homage to winter, KDH's Washington DC - my day with the cab driver, AP's flocking instructions, as I sit and think there are quite a few memorable blogs, so maybe my brother drinking beer is not one for the ages! Well anywhoo, I hope my S-I-L had a wonderful birthday! What a gorgeous day Sunday was! felt like a late spring day! So enjoyable Other than that, we are busy planning our Eurchre Tournament fundraiser, planning for Philadelphia, and completed assigned tasks at work, all not necessarily in that order! Enjoy this extra day in February!
Gotta tell ya, allof my bad-mouthing ofthe Yankees overthe yearsand then I Have to admit that they are theonly team, and we have been to 6 different locations, that open up the park, free of charge, and let people into watch practice. It was really cool. Currently trying to check in to get boarding passes for tomorrow nite's flight and the weather in Buffalo don't look good. We will see what happens. Finally got some decent weather the last2 days. Drive carefully Buffalonians.
Awwww... I wanna see that picture. Two more drives to EA, that's it. It's been a treat. I'm not really sure how Unckie does it. He's a bigger man than me. I have my first non-holiday day off on Friday . Sandra said she'll take off too so we can do something together. Yeah! Looking forward to that.
A belated HB Dad. Spent yesterday in airports but we did get home after the mess on tuesday nite. Amazing amount of ice on the car in the airport lot and no ice here in the southtowns. For next friday's fish, I will leave the choice to the northtowners. nphw, you and AB decide time and place, let the nash rd. Rices know and Auntie and I will be there. YOu guys will know the number.
Happy 3/3, if you are a numbers person double numbers are always good! Happy Birthday Dad!!! Its not that we like Mom more, so your picture is not posted, but you were on face book, but knew of the blob, always asked about it, who did what who said what, so that is why her face is gracing it today. Jff you can pick the fish fry place, does not matter to me at all. Yankees won on a walk off yesterday, great start to spring training! Glad the EA Holtz's got home safe and sound and had a wonderful trip! Enjoy today and all that it brings your way
Ok, I think we need some space, so I'll try to pick a place that can accommodate us and has a good fish fry... I'll check into Ottos, but Neighbors might be nice too.
Swag? Sounds good to me whatever it is. I will gladly sell my personal endorsement, for anything. Where is Neighbors? We will be there. nphw rck must be really excited with UNC Ashville headed for the big dance. Any chance he will be broadcasting their first game? That would be great!
Home from Philly! Did not find the bar shady recommended however? Was not listed in the top 10 places to visit in Central Philly. During peak visit hours at the flower show, my sister and I would bail, either go to lunch or hang and drink at our hotel. I know, me too!!!! However on one of our down afternoons, I gave my sister detailed instructions on accessing the blog, face book, email, twitter accounts and snapchat. She is a trained professional! Oh you will see more of her, rest assured! Show was wonderful, weather was wonderful, time with my sister, wonderful! Back to work, not so wonderful! See everyone Friday, there will just be George and I, no Gwenn or Henry, yet...but they will join us soon, very soon!!
Kudos to nphw jff for a great choice in meeting places. Awaiting the minutes from the meeting from Mrs. Fixxitt but as i recall the meeting was called to order at 6:51 and lots was decided. Unclear on the details but I am sure that they will be clarified. UB in the Big Dance, Syracuse? in, Bona out. Can't wait for thursday.
Happy St Patricks day family! Raise a Guiness today! Enjoy your Irish heritage and hey drink like a downey! So excited for Holtzapalooza/Festivus themed 2016! Glad to see we are all embracing assigned job duties, and bickering has been to a minimum. Sorry I could not attend first meeting but in all honesty we all barely got out alive planning gramma's funeral, the fewer in attendance is always better! So as the official recorder for ordinary events that translate to Festivus Miracles, I have to recount what happened yesterday. As everyone is aware of my on going battle with the US Postal Service. To those that had blocked it out, let me recount. After our dear mothers passing, I received no mail, nothing, nada, zilch, zip, zero. And Of course I did a lot of finger pointing to this federal agency, so still no trace of mail. But yesterday, of all days, quess what arrived at 431! A letter addressed to Nancy Holtz! A festivus Miracle, would you not agree! Of course it was notice from Medicare reminding her that we she turned 65, she had options for health care! I think this is the first of many! Enjoy today, have corned beef and cabbage! Cherish who you are!
enjoying the email banter. All is moving along well. made a guiness run this morning. looking forward to the first tip off in about an hour. hope that my sister is enjoying her last day in her 60's. loved the story about mom's mail. that is hilarious. enjoy
Happy St. Patricks Day... After! We stayed home last night and watched the UB game. They played well, just couldn't pull out the victory. Tonight we're off to Larkin Square for more Pattys Day fun. I'm loving the email banter too... Classic stuff. Thank you Auntie P for the Cheap Eats news articles., I received them yesterday.. We'll be trying them out and we'll let you know what we think.
I am sure number one nephew also meant to wish his beautiful Mom, Happy Birthday, as well! Happy Birthday to my sister! I hope you have a wonderful day! Much love to you! And may this decade be the best decade! Hey its Friday! so enjoy You have the next 48 hours free! So far today, no ordinary events have occurred that could be labeled Festivus Miracles, but hey the day is young
my day started with 14 of my 24 students absent in the first class. it was a 'festivus miracle" that anyone showed up today. Welcome sis to the land of 70+. seems like only yesterday that you were keeping my paper route going. where has the time gone? larkinville sounded interesting but I am pooped so it's going to be home and tv bball. Felt bad for UB. They made a good run at a tough team. Enjoy the weekend all.
Happy Monday, happy Holy Week! So I guess its spring! However I did drive in a blizzard while going from site to site this morning! So daughter Jnna, got a kindle for her Aunt Sue for her birthday, me I got her candy! so Saturday afternoon was spent setting up her Kindle, with FaceBook, twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc. Aunt sue was quickly thrust into the social media frenzy! Much to her husbands displeasure!. You see each email in your inbox equates to miles on a car, and at somepoint, it is going to blow! So as Aunt Sue was accepting friend request after friend request, and to quote her this was not like high school!, and the emails piled up, you just knew something had to change, so it looks like a new email account for my sister was created to handle this barrage of updates! Good job! Needless to say my sister was thrilled with her gift and her inclusion into social media! I was also informed that we are meeting again to go over the Holtzapalooza/festivus themed 2016 picnic? Any more information on that follow up meeting? Enjoy this week!
Ooooh another meeting! Can't wait. Happy Holy Week. The kids are off from school and heading out with the Fixxits for a movie this afternoon... Zootopia, I think.
So, my wife and I are in Home depot in west seneca this afternoon, minding our own business, when all of a sudden this voice behind me is accusing me of trying to steal a screen door. After I demanded to be strip searched. he demanded that I keep my clothes on. the good part was that he had lots of pictures on his phone of the ever growing Everett twins which distracted me until he could make a hasty exit. Good to know that "good" Gary was on duty. The bad news is that apparently Home Depot does not carry butter lambs. Another unsuccessful shopping trip. That's why I don't go shopping more often.
Happy Holy Wed! Not sure what the significance is, but I am pretty sure there is one! Gray rainy day, wishing our Spring would show up complete with sunshine! Of course I can not complain about this winter, it was super easy to get through! Great Sabre win last night! Not to much else is going on, preparing for easter, and looking forward to some family time!
Did anyone else notice that is was a gorgeous 70 degrees yesterday in EA? I did. And as I was driving home it kept on getting cooler... Almost a 20 degree drop in temperature. Weird. Great story Unkie! And thank you Good Gary for keeping us safe. Today will consist of a noon service followed by a fish fry and later in the evening... A Buffalo Bandits game with both kids!
It was amazing yesterday and the temp. difference was startling. Quiet day out this way. Sounds as if the Pilafs have the right idea for a Good Friday. Hang on to your Easter bonnets in this breeze.
Enjoy family time on Good Friday, me I am at work. Kind of busy actually, am hoping to make the 2PM Mass. Other than that, not much else. I hear Adam is in Gettysburg, that sounds like a fun trip. Would totally go to Gettysburg again! Other than that, not to much else to report. It will be a low key Easter, enjoy family!
Happy Easter! I love me some Gettysburg! I would definitely go back, but first we HAVE to take Emma to Washington DC. I wish I had Dyngus Day off... I would party like a Dyngus.
Hope that everyone had a wonderful Easter. we were invited to Eric Stoiber's for brunch which was mighty tasty and later the Jewettville Holtzes came over to sit in the sun. Kids had a successful outside egg hunt, the first of those, outside, I think ever. Today doesn't seem quite the same. Make the best of it, high winds and all.
What a beautiful Easter Sunday! Weather was so nice, could not have asked for a nicer day! Sat outside, took the twins outside, minus snow suits! Just a very nice day! So who has the correct final 4??? Syracuse, where did they come from! happy for all those Q's fans! Some of which we call family! Don't feel like working today, but in all honesty I could say that a lot! Other than that, enjoy the ever changing weather today! Washington DC!!! Love going there as well!
Upcoming lake effect snow??? really? Now who would think we would get an april snowstorm! so who has big plans this weekend? Not sure what I am going to do, but just want everyone to feel old, like I do! As I turn the big 6-0 on Saturday? How is that possible? Where did the time fly off too? So having dinner with the twins! That will be my birthday! Enjoy today, tomorrow and our snowy weekend, and beware of Monday's commute!
A huge HB to my little sister. I remember how happy Mom was that she didn't have an April Fools Day baby. Way to go sis! Enjoy your final day in your 50's. You have a great decade ahead. And your birthday celebration sounds perfect. Snow? We laugh in the face of it and we will enjoy our weekend, won't we.
Seems that weather wise I was enjoying last sunday just a little bit more. Long range forecast calls for an ugly week but then maybe....With baseball season beginning tonite and games all day tomorrow, can spring be far behind? Endure
The twins are officially 5 months old! Probably time for a new picture, as they have most definatley changed! Henry, serious, concerned, but you can get a big smile out of him on many occasions. he has also discovered his feet! ms Gwenn, will chat your ear off, she smiles and coo's at will, and will intently watch her brother just in case. We all feel that she will be the ultimate little sister and tattle incessantly! And Ms Gwenn, had the arrival of two teeth this week! I had a wonderful birthday celebration with them! Thank you everyone for cards and wishes! UGH to this snow, ridiculous! Of course, back in '76, 1976 that is, it snowed every weekend until the weekend geo and I got married! Other than that, nothing else is new Mother Theresa gets canonized while we are in Rome, any thoughts on the crowd for that event? I am thinking more than Canal Fest, but less than a bills game? Enjoy Wed...
Ah, the sound of the snowplow going down the street so nice and early in the morning. Such a wonderful way to start the day and the weekend. At least there is the Masters to watch on tv. MLB still continues to schedule first week home games in Cleveland, etc. You would think that they would have caught on by now. Bisons home on thurs. Currently in my to do box, but we will have to see. Enjoy our weekend, such as it appears it will be.
Hey! Sandra's home so I can write again. Snowman on April 4, I would have loved to see that. I'm loving that baseball is on when I get home from work... Gives me a REAL reason to enjoy a beer. Emma's MSM fund raiser is tonight, Sandra and I volunteered to bartend the event... Hm. That'll be fun. We're passing out the Hurricanes!
Went to Smoke on the Water last night for their Restaurant Week specials, food was very good, good drink specials, and a flaming banana split for desert! it was yummy.. Have a great week discovering new restaurants! Wish this cold spell, would vanish! Anxious for some warmer weather and sun! Other than that, work is work, and the weekend is the weekend! Bison opening day tomorrow!!! Play Ball!
So a month ago I called the Water dept. to let them know that a leak in the waterline was creating the makings of a very nice rice paddy in our front lawn. Shortly after the call 2 guys show up with a stick and a can of spray paint. They take turns spraying the end of the stick, argue over who is going to put it in the ground and then leave. Nothing happens until yesterday when a truck and backhoe show up, dig, what appears to be an exploratory hole, stand around, look into it for an extended period, fill the hole in and then disappear. Today a bigger crew has appeared with more big equipment and currently have a hole about 5 by 10 feet and at least 6 feet deep, judging by the tops of heads that I see. I confess that I am intrigued by this and have no idea where they are going with this process. Will they fill it in only to come back tomorrow to do it again? What happens to the end of the driveway that I used to have? Yesterday they took the dirt and threw rocks in as fill. What are their plans for today? I had always heard that the Erie County Water Dept. had a pretty sweet gig but I am beginning to have a first hand view. Can't wait to see where this goes. Pray for us
and now they are digging up the front yard of my neighbor across the street. the mountains of dirt continue to grow. My neighbor is not happy because he didn't have a problem...until now....hee,hee,hee. The saga continues
I am sure that you have all been on pins and needles regarding the crisis on Grover rd. but be assured that our crack h2o dept. successfully dealt with the issue. It is a definite heads up to know that we apparently occupy the low ground of our area so that whenever a leak occurs anywhere it will eventually find its way to our front yard. At least the Bisons won. No, I didn't go.
You know when you are not on the blog for a few days you are definitely not in the loop! I had no idea there was an issue with my brothers property. You do realize your niece is an elected official who could have made a few calls, to get the same results! Plan on attending the Bison game tonight until it gets to cold to bear! Other than that, our life is consumed with the benefit that Jenna is coordinating. Pretty much every day, that we come home, there are donations left in the driveway. One day there were 3 laundry baskets filled with light bulb, yesterday there was a Kurig coffee maker, and 10 2 liters of pop. Pretty mind boggling! Other than that, same ole same ole My boss is retiring at the end of the month, so I am sure changes are a brewing I am still in the process of accepting my new age, not there yet, still in denial actually! Enjoy the weekend Predictions? The Bills schedule is out? Will the REX Effect take us to the promised land???
An entire basket of light bulbs? That's sounds like a Fixit Pirate gift. I have not slept much lately... I need to know more about the water hazard on the Holtzs front yard. Is it a stroke penalty? We're down in Butler, PA right now enjoying this beautiful "southern" weather. Tonight I'm heading down to Pittsburgh tonight for a concert then we'll be back in BLo on Sunday. Yeah baseball!
Hate to see a beautiful weekend like this come to an end. Jason Wagner had his 2nd birthday party yesterday which was hosted by Grandma Linda and today was devoted to yard work. Productive day but I will pay for it tomorrow. The good news is that no school for me tomorrow so there could be some golf in the offing. Nphw jff was right on target as usual. Yes, I did have some additional practice playing over the front yard water hazard. I hope that it helps my game. Enjoy the week.
Love the idea of the light bulbs being a pirate gift! That has mr fixxitt written all over it! Great Bison game Friday night, we lasted until the winds off the lake the started blowing in the 8th, then it was definitely time to go. As all social media savy users do, I posted geo's picture on FB, only to hear from his brother in Denver, that he was sitting in the middle of a blizzard So better Denver than us! Got a kick out of the neighbor who shoveled last week and cut his grass this week! Happy birthday Jason! 2 is a great age! Other than that, any other plans for meeting number 2 for Holtzapalooza? My calendar is filling up pretty quick, not really
We will have to get together to finalize plans, food, games, etc. anyone with an idea for a time and a place? Love to do it outdoors if the weather would promise to cooperate. Need more days like the last few.
What a gorgeous weekend that was. Hopefully it sticks around for awhile, I'd like to to the kayak out for a trial run. I love this time of the year; hockey playoffs, baseball, outside yard work, oh wait, how did that get in there? Time to go fishing.
So is everyone wore out from the Trump rally last evening? Recover in time to vote, people! A little gloomy but that's ok, we have had some sun hopefully we see it again soon! Food truck Tuesday, at Larkinville, go early and bring a chair! Other than that, down to the last few days of planning for the benefit. So Saturday, all the gift baskets that people had dropped off were removed from the dining room, over 60. Last night we accumulated another 25, plus a stroller, and assorted other items! To say this has been crazy is an understatement... Other than that, looking forward to spring time weather daily, and enjoying the outside! The twins have been out for daily walks, and loving the sunshine! Enjoy today and all that it brings!
I'm sitting at the twins school waiting for "friends and family day" to start, catching up on the blog. They may call security on the lone woman sitting off to the side laughing out loud at her phone. Thanks for starting my day right family!
I attend Macy's friends and family day, is it kind of like that? I love bargains before anyone else even knows its a bargain!!! Enjoy today, have a wonderful day
I can't find anything on TV. I caught the end of Big Bang and there's always the Yankees games... The NFL draft is kind of on.... Hallmark always offers quality TV, I have no idea what to watch.
MSM play, Alice in Wonderland was really good. The kids did a great job and it was fun watching Miss Emma nail her lines. Great job. I'm a little worried about my fantasy baseball team. I've got no pitching, no saves but the good news is... No one on my team can hit either. So that takes the pressure off of my pitchers.
Monday morning blues! UGH! Had a whirlwind tour of duty in Orlando, helping/visiting number one son! Wonderful trip, 85 and sunny everyday, how do people live like that? so amazing. Wonderful time with family! And Tristan is getting so tall!!!! I found it interesting that it was cheaper to rent a car in florida, than parking at the buffalo airport! Now back to reality!!! The benefit went off yesterday with out a hitch, it was an amazing event! I am sure everyone saw jenna on channel 2, so proud of her! this event was such a huge accomplishment with an army of volunteers, of which my sister was suppose to be one, and then I heard she was near death, with strept throat. But she is on the mend. Great job done by all! Other than that, so people where were you all 40 years ago this Saturday??? Great article by Bucky Gleason in this mornings snooze about the Buffalo Braves!
Saw the channel 2 news report on yesterday's event and it looked like a great success. What nc jnn has done is most remarkable. Sorry to hear that my older sister is ailing and that younger sister had a successful trip to Fla. Spent yesterday at Home depot leaving lots of money behind but hopefully making my life a bit easier. Loved the article on the Braves. One of my many coaching defeats occurred at the aud in a prelim to the Braves. Make the best of the week folks.
Rain and gloom, no worries, we press on. Great to hear that benefit was a huge success. That's awesome news. We love it. Congrats Jnna! Zach's 19th birthday today! He's legal in Canada. So he's got that going. We're taking him out to eat tonight, no big celebration.
A big HB nphw zch. I spent my 19th bday at the niagara hose field day. A definite mistake as I hazily recall. I know that you will make better decisions. Same week as the bday of my favorite daughter in law and upcoming 40th anniversary celebration for my little sister. What am I celebrating? Got my teeth cleaned this AM and cancelling my plans for today's Bisons game--way too cold and breezy for me. Not much to celebrate but.. Other than that??? Hey, remember that it's Thursday, all day.
So one of my major job duties this week has been coordinating the week long celebration of my retiring boss. Tomorrow is the final celebration, at the brawler deli in Pearl St. Then Monday begin with a new boss who has not been hired as of yet, uncertainty, the main stay of life Is everyone on pins and needles for the draft? Enjoy Thursday, because we all know what tomorrow is!
Ooh, oooh pick me . I know. Friday. It's Friday! Woo Hoo! Sandra and I had to check out Crabapples last night in Cheektowaga. Great beer selection. 50 beers on tap, all high quality craft beers. Then we headed over to Mooneys in a Depew to meet some friends. This weekend is Zach's weekend. A father-son Canada trip.
Happy Anniversary UG and AB! Happy, happy day! So, I had a nice day yesterday at a spa. My first time going to an all day spa. I know, I know hard to believe. I also got my first manicure. Hm. Interesting. I definitely won't be doing this again. Now, don't think for minute that I paid for this. This was a "work" outing.
If I didn't know better I would be excited about the Bills picks. But it is the weekend and today is supposed to be nice. Happy Anniv. AB and UG. Do something special for yourselves. Sounds like "the boys" have a good weekend planned. Reports from all on Monday?
By my count it is monday and we all know what that brings, another week. Happy Bday to my sis in law linda today and many more. sat. morning I tried out my new riding more that I fell under peer pressure to buy--thanks auntie and son--made 2 passes around the yard cutting, stopped, started again and had no forward movement. spent most of the day on the phone with the good folks at Home Depot--are you paying attention Good Gary--and now can wait here today for them to bring me an "exchange". We will see how that goes. Good news: Cardale Jones has a Trent Edwards arm. That's the bad news too. Sabres picking 8th. Is that good or bad? Are they still playing hockey? In baseball somebody swept somebody over the weekend. No further comment on that. In an update in the unlikely event that anyone cares: our resident cardinal continues his personal war with our house/windows. In an ongoing effort to maintain our sanity we now have various windows festooned with balloons, ribbon and whatever else we can put up, currently to no avail. Auntie has researched online and determined that there are folks out there who have been harrassed for over 2 yrs. Anyone with a 12 guage I can borrow?
Happy Tuesday! A Cardinal! How fun! Remember when your dad was attacked by a blue jay? The bird not the parent club for the Bisons. so husband desperately wanted to go to the Bison game last night, Scranton Wilkes Barre is in town, but even he would not brave the cold! brrr So we are continueing with our Benefit wrap up at 431! Monumental task! Daughter got a rental car after her car was backed into by a truck. So AllState authorized for her to drive a focus that reeked of smoke, had a broken seat, and no gas! My boss has retired, and my site threw her a luncheon, and I purchased a Menne gift card, for 50$. Menne processed my bank card 5 times, so I am playing phone tag with them trying to get my 200$ back. Other than that, Mothers day this weekend! Hope the weather is bearable! Here is hoping my brother has gotten the Cadillac of ride on lawn mowers!
Thank you AB for all of your good thoughts. sounds as if things are a bit out of sorts at 431 also. Such is life, I guess. My new ride did arrive yesterday, I got gas--left behind a full tank in the other mower--so we will see what happens today. Cardinal sits in the tree giving dirty looks to the balloon, but so far so good. Bird brain!
Glad to hear that the Cardinal is keeping his distance! If my brother was a facebook follower he would know that Cardinals are allegedly visits from a dearly departed spirit! Or they are just looking for food, guess its all in what you believe! Hope the weather is nice this weekend for all the families with plans! Going to try the Bison's game tomorrow night, hoping its at least in the upper 40's. Yes brother, such is life! Very poetic
Friday!!! We made it. Sandra's home safe and sound from Wisconsin. Big weekend events going on. Tonight is SmeltFest! Tomorrow, continues the Cherry a Blossom Festival and PorchFest is tomorrow too... The Fest Season begins. Mothers Day on Sunday. Happy Mothers Day!
I love fests.I love the smeltfest. I love friday even more. All of the best wishes for a wonderful sunday to our mothers out there. In our cardinal update, he apparently decided that the old balloon was no threat and was actually bouncing off of it in his pursuit of the enemy in the window. Auntie upped the ante today in buying new and larger balloons. It is getting expensive. The next step might well be replicas of the Hindenberg in front of our windows.
Ha! That's awesome. Hopefully it won't get that far... Talk about expensive.
So, Sandra and I went to the Cherry a Blossom Festival and to PorchFest and had lunch at the Thirsty Buffalo. She loved the cherry blossoms! While there we spent some time in the Buffalo History Museum, I highly recommend. The thirsty Buffalo was good, minus the union workers on strike there using foul and vociferous language. That was not fun.
The Hindenburg! Now that is some serious out of the box thinking from my brother! It just proves, that you need to go big or go home! My Mothers day celebration continues this evening with dinner at the Everett's and Saturday, cousin Cathy is hosting a brunch, for the Italy bound gang! So the celebrations just continue, which is awesome! I personally had a wonderful Mother's Day! Hope everyone else had an equally wonderful day! I would like to take this opportunity to wish KDH a wonderful birthday! Hope you have a great day! Happy Birthday!!! Other than that, not to much else going on. Just waiting for some warmer weather!
A big HB to my favorite daughter and hoping that she finds a fun way to spend her day. Back to work today but golf set up for tomorrow so that will take care of the month of May. Seems that there is a temporary cease fire with the bird. We will see. Heading out to dinner to celebrate daughter's birthday. Only seems appropriate.
Appropriate indeed... Having fun without you. Don't forget to say that when you Skype. What a gorgeous day today! I think I need to start my retirement countdown. Ahhhhhh who am I kidding. Hello, Welcome to Walmart.
Happy Friday, my second favorite day of the week, my first being any Holiday! So lets recap what is going on??? Finally convinced my better half to see an Ortho guy about his knee, and shocking its arthritis, so he is getting the cortisone injections, doing therapy and taking a new anti-inflammatory, so we will see how that helps! Looking forward to brunch at Cathy's tomorrow for the Italy bound gang! Getting excited for the pending trip 2017 we are looking at Ireland! So the weather is suppose to be less than stellar this weekend, hope everyone has indoor plans! So at the urging of a friend, I am throwing my hat into the ring and running for school board in the COT. Not sure what I am getting myself into, but new projects always give you a reason to get out of bed in the morning , right?? So we will see how this goes! Other than that enjoy today, tomorrow and Sunday!
Sounds as if my little sister has/is getting a very full plate. Good luck on your run sis, at least you have political help at the ready. Just don't make the mistake interviewing as your spokesperson when it is really you. Looks like some sitting responsibilities tomorrow as the Jewettville Holtzes go out to celebrate anniv. #11. Was it that long ago that we shocked all of the New Englanders with our rendition of "the Bills make us want to shout"? Auntie heads off to Hotlanta on Sunday for some babysitting down there while I am relegated to remain in WNY to survive the predicted snow and finish out the school year. Here's hoping that UG gets some treatment for his Neezles. Too much time spent in the catching position as a coach. Enjoy our weekend, such as it may be.
Yep, old baseball injuries, he handled my fastball as an 8 year old. Thoughts and prayers for UG! Raining here. At least it's not snow... I can handle a little rain. Unfortunately I got wet this AM mowing the lawn. Hamburg Music Festival tonight... I'm sure we'll get wet.
LOL, brother! I think we all learned a valuable lesson to never impersonate our spokesperson! SNL had a pretty funny re enactment of that scenario, did not see it live, caught it on the replays! UGH to snow in May! Adam and Amy have been married 11 years! No way!!!! Yowza time flies! such a great wedding reception! Had a wonderful brunch at Cathy's on Saturday! Other than that, May is flying by! AP, hug and kiss the ATL gang for me! And the school year is really coming to an end, how is that possible! Enjoy Monday!
Happy Wed! so just to let everyone know, I was victorious in my school board bid! Thank you to sister by marriage Barbie for trekking up to the highschool after work no less and writing my name in! Lets face it you always need a reason to get out of bed in the morning! Enjoy the day and all that it brings!
Congrats little sister on that big win. 158?? not sure about that number, but it was a lot of write-ins. That is quite a political machine being created in COT. My concern, and I do have two are: 1. The fugitive in the tree on Adam St.?? 2. The quote: I believe my time has come--attributed to you--was a bit unnerving. All kidding aside, school board is an incredibly important and almost totally unappreciated job. Good luck. Need an update on UG's neezles and what political post is in his future. All seems to be going well in Hotlanta. Auntie seems to be holding up despite her years. Thank goodness she has lots of help from the girls. Weekend is coming, enjoy it.
Thank you brother for your vote of confidence, as I think my Mom is sitting somewhere, saying is she nutz? But its all good! The advice I got from my brother in law was to watch the teachers union? Wasn't he in a union? got a congratulatory email from K, and she sounds super busy, good to know AP is holding down the fort! Why didn't you go as reinforcements? It will be our little secret, about the advanced age comment Other than that, not to much else to report!
Congrats !!! Congrats!!! The machine keeps rolling down the tracks. Look out Adlee Stevenson, we're coming for ya.
What a gorgeous day. Definitely one to be outside enjoying the whole evening. That's why I'm going to a bar to watch a concert. Silly Jeffrey. The weekend is busy, busy with Paintball, a baby shower and a diaper shower for a guy. Never heard of the last one. I guess... You bring diapers and drink beer.
Leave it to the Pilafs to always being on the cutting edge for new entertainment experiences. What happened to the beautiful saturday that we were promised all week? Looking mighty cloudy my way. Hope that it's better in the Northtowns. Just waiting to leave for the airport to retrieve Auntie. Still awaiting more info on the fugitive in the tree on Adam St. Come on nc jnn, you should know "the rest of the story" Tomorrow is the beginning of the birthday celebrations for the Jewettville Holtz kids. Looks as if we have "Ben duty" and Oliver and Audrey host their kid parties. Here's hoping that the sunday weather improves.
Well, I kinda survived my first paintball outing. Kinda. I pulled both of my hamstrings. One is really bad the other one is just tight... Nothing a little beer, aspirin and 3 months rest can't fix. It was fun though.
I did see a paint ball episode on the Big Bang Theory once. Here's hoping that nphw jff didn't get "fragged" by his own team like Sheldon did. I hear that the game can get vicious. Bad hammies could keep him out of the big palooza kick ball game tho.
Since everything is happening via email I figured that I would at least put up a short post just to change the count. yes, both nc emm and I began our Memorial Day weekend today, a day early. And yes, it is also an opportunity to give a shout out to my favorite son as he heads to Norwich, NY today to receive his official promotion to V.P. of NBT Bank Buffalo. Travel safely
Well, I made it through the heat wave yesterday. Sandra and I had a wonderful day in East Aurora; shopping and finally grabbing a little lunch at 42 North Brewery. Then Sandra's sister Sharon came to town and we took them up to Woodcocks!!! Fun, fun. We finished off the evening with some backyard chatting and a fire.
just saw the facebook of nc jll at the marathon finish line with her twins proudly looking on. Way to go jll !! Is this weekend's heat a forecast of our upcoming summer? Enjoy.
Congratulations Adam, VP!!! That's awesome! The Koch's are all set for Friday, just let me know what I need to bring, please. Other than that, I have official school board training this Saturday and next Saturday, I think had I known about Saturday training I may have re thought my decision! but its all good! Jill did great on Sunday! If you ever are so inclined being at the finish line of the marathon is quite an experience! Lots of fun, and they throw a great party! See everyone Friday!
We had another wonderful evening last night on the water. I think Sandra is really enjoying the kayaking experience. Next time we have to make it down to Dockside Grill.
many thanks to the Pilafs for hosting a most productive meeting yesterday. If all of these proposals come together it looks like 7/30 will be a day for the ages. Can't wait to see the Palooza torch being run into Richardson's cottage. There will be ducks!!!
UGH to Monday! Thanks to nephew and his lovely wife for hosting on Friday, food was yummy, beer was very good, and the company even better! Thank you one and all! I think this Holtzapalooza will be one for the ages! From the opening ceremony to the closing ceremony! I think the minutes taken accurately reflect the open discussions, and I am pretty sure we all know what our said responsibilities for the day are, until we don't, and then we will need to review! Enjoy this week!
Happy Birthday Ms. Emma! Nice article in this morning BN about Jenna and I , crummy picture! But a better article! Count down to our Holtzapalooza, 50 days and counting! Is it to early to order the pizza? Just asking? Other than that so wanted to go to the Bisons game last night but I had just put my winter coat away! Other than that, not to much else going on... Stay warm folks, its chilly out there!
Happy Friday family, friends and fans of our blog. Do we even have fans anymore or is our 15 minutes of fame over? Probably. So the twins are 7 months old, how is that possible! Time, its an odd thing, goes by so fast, and you only notice it when its gone! I reviewed my job duties for Holtzapalooza and I am good. I think this will be one for the ages! So looking forward to all the events we have planned! Enjoy your weekend so the article on Jenna and I was only on line and only available for the moring edition, so it was good press, but in limited release only! Too funny Make someone smile today!
I'm smiling! Beautiful day yesterday as we celebrated Emma's Sweet 16 with a limo ride. She was beyond surprised and excited. Sandra did an awesome job setting everything up. I think everyone really enjoyed themselves. Two of her friends even wrote birthday songs for her. Too funny.
Rain derailed our plans yesterday. Booooo... We had plans to kayak to Swistons and grab some dinner. Sandra did not like that it was raining. So, now we're going to try it on Friday. Looks like a gorgeous morning. I wonder if Unckie is golfing?
Finally finished grading all of the Regents exams. Nice job nc emma on Global. Mr. Hurley wasn't exactly sure but it seems that the exam was north of 90. Heading out tomorrow and yes, to of all places, Phoenix, with a predicted high for sunday of 119. At least it's a dry heat. I think that I will forego golf out there at this time. Looks like a nice weekend here. Enjoy it and particularly sunday, the most sacred day of the year.
You know you can cook things in a 119 degrees? Right? Swistons was a huuuuge success! We had fun kayaking with a friend AND I did not get the beef on Weck... Now we have to go back. Off fishing in a few minutes on the upper Niagara... Go for Smallies. Wish me luck.
Thanks for the wishes. I had a long post 2 days ago but it seems to have disappeared. Back in naturally air conditioned WNY and happy to be back. Seems to have been quiet blogwise. July tomorrow. Hard to believe We all know what July is going to bring. It will be here before we know it.
Hope that everyone is enjoying their long weekend. Pretty quiet out here in the Southtowns. We went out to Colden Lakes for music and dinner tonite. The have a nice deck that sits overlooking one of their "lakes"--actually more like Ives Pond during a rainy season, but still kind of fun. Be careful lighting those pocket rockets.
Duck racing banned on NYS waterways?? This throws the palooza into chaos, utter chaos. Does U.G. know? I don't necessarily advocate civil disobedience, but there comes a time and a place where you have to draw the line. The launching of the ducks may some day in history books become compared to the Selma to Montgomery March. Power to the People !!!
I agree with my brother, I am not surprised that once the Holtz's made an ample investment in a venture, it became an illegal activity. Selma to Montgomery march, may be a tad dramatic, but it would definitely be a tea in the Boston Harbor event, making the analogy just because of the water! 4th was semi quiet in the COT. Every Wed, there is 2 mile walking tour of the city, conducted by noted COT historian, Skip Johnson Next weeks tour is going to encompass Grove St, so if anyone is interested in learning a little bit more about " where it all began" for us, come join us! Most of our assigned tasks have been sort of completed, so I think we will be good for 7-30 Other than that, final payment for our trip to Italy is due Monday. so thank you Mom! You had said to me many times, you wished you could have left us lots of money, hope you know you left us so much more and you did leave enough for a trip to Italy! 23 days and counting.....
Once again, leave it to my sister to come up with a far better comparison than I, a history teacher, should have seen in the Boston Harbor event. I just let my passion overcome me. Well done sis! So, today we are supposed to go to Canandaigua for a day of boating, etc. and as the Holtz luck would have it, it's the first wet day in 2 months. Oh well. Weekend is coming and I hope that everyone has things to look forward to. That Wed. COT tour sounds interesting. What time and where AB? Enjoy the clouds. Looks like a hot week ahead.
Happy Monday! sounds like a scorcher coming up mid week! Hope everyone has cold beer! So the Wed Warrior Walk, this wed, will be starting at the main st library, at 6:30 PM I believe the route is on face book, I know we just try and stay at a 2 mile walk. this was organized by Jenna and a few others, the first week we had 9, and we did Elmwood park and part of fletcher. Last week we did Gastown and had over 20 people. Did everyone know, if you had money you lived in Gastown! Enjoy the day and all that it brings!
Sorry to miss tonite's walk. Sounds like fun. We are off tomorrow to join up with the GA. Holtz-Twombleys. Another chance for Auntie and I to bond over another few thousand miles in the front seat. Wish us luck. Wanted to get a palooza update out today but it's too hot to work. Will follow it up on our return the 25th.
Happy Trails to my brother and his lovely wife! So my sister and her better half joined us last night for our Warrior Walk, and at the start of the walk our local historian, Skip Johnson, has a handout of little known facts that you are given. Now upon my Brother in law receiving his factoid sheet, he immediately came upon an error, a piece of information that he believed to be incorrect. Now what does the family think he did? A) point out the error, and correctly state the information? B) Goad his lovely wife into correcting the error publicly, or C) forever hold his piece? You will need to ask him what he did? Canal Fest is coming up and the twin are entered in the diaper derby!! COT Garden Walk this weekend as well Stay cool all!
Family blob unusually quiet? Is that because all concerned are getting ready for Holtzapalooza part 3? it is one week from tomorrow! So lets recap, so the there was no Warrior Walk this week due to CanalFest, that will resume next week, for all those interested. The Twins were entered into the 34th Annual CanalFest Diaper Derby, which was so much fun! Gwenn was in the first race, lane 1, and she was all smiles! Big ear to ear smiles! But never budged an inch! Then when people applauded the winner, she just assumed it was for her and smiled even bigger! No interest in the competition, but she worked the crowd!!!! Henry was lane 4 second race, and was annoyed with it all, he did take an interest in the little girl in the lane next to him, but he too did not budge an inch! It was a lot of fun, and Jenna posted the videos on face book. so other than that, just waiting on our Reunion! Oh I better tell my brother, I keep forgetting to do that! Stay cool, and boil your water!
Left Winston Salem NC at 3 AM and arrived in EA at 12:30. Only problem is that now I can't stand up. Promise a schedule palooza update tomorrow. Need to go and try to do something to save my lawn.

Hi Kristen ! Great to hear from ya... Grrrrrr!!! Jeffersons first baseball game? I am so jealous.
I'm throwing out some fish fry places.
Armor Inn Tap Room
Jades
UGH to snow!
I too am throwing out some Fish Fry places
Kellers Tap Room
Double D Lounge
Jesters
Bedell's Candle light
Enjoy Friday eve
Ugh to the Sabres loss!
atleast it isn't snowing in clearwater, butit is runningabout 15 degrees below average.
So that is the goal
Other than that, did my brother know its suppose to be 50 on Friday?
So enjoyable
Other than that, we are busy planning our Eurchre Tournament fundraiser, planning for Philadelphia, and completed assigned tasks at work, all not necessarily in that order!
Did we decide on a fish fry place?
Neighbors Pub on Kenmore?
Enjoy today and all that it brings your way
Yes, the pressure is on poor nphw jff. YOU GO!
Ok, I think we need some space, so I'll try to pick a place that can accommodate us and has a good fish fry... I'll check into Ottos, but Neighbors might be nice too.
How about Neighbors on Friday 600P?
Can I be in charge of swag for Holtzapalooza, please? I'm working on corporate sponsors.
Swag? Sounds good to me whatever it is. I will gladly sell my personal endorsement, for anything. Where is Neighbors? We will be there. nphw rck must be really excited with UNC Ashville headed for the big dance. Any chance he will be broadcasting their first game? That would be great!
Neighbors at 6:00 sounds great or Ottos
Sue????????????????????? Is this the coming of the rapture?
Wow! Didn't see my moms response coming.
Neighbors is on Kenmore Ave. .
Kristen has my vote/ endorsement. Kristen for President!
We will be there at 6. Will the travelers be back from Philly by then? Yeah K for pres. That would make me the first father. Lovin' that
Home from Philly!
Tomorrow is a date... We'll have fun.
The First Father, interesting. I think I like it.
see everyone tonite, cept for Gwenn and Henry. They are obviously saving their A-game for palooza.
Hey its Friday! so enjoy
You have the next 48 hours free!
Sweet! That's a great percentage.
I am totally engrossed in all of the sets... My bracket was busted in the first game on Thursday afternoon.
Happy Easter everyone!
A Happy and blessed Easter to all. No work for me on Dyngus Day. Who else has that as a holiday?
Happy birthday!!! I hope you a great day.
Go Cuse!
Seems that weather wise I was enjoying last sunday just a little bit more. Long range forecast calls for an ugly week but then maybe....With baseball season beginning tonite and games all day tomorrow, can spring be far behind? Endure
I think that I will go outside and make a snowman. Seems appropriate for April 4.
Other than that, nothing else is new
Mother Theresa gets canonized while we are in Rome, any thoughts on the crowd for that event?
It seemed a little warmer today.... Hm.
So, it's Local Restaurant Week... We have plans to go out twice and try new restaurants. Can't wait.
Holy cow! What's going on down in EA?
Is the water saga over? Is there more to the story?
I have cancelled my order for an ox and at this point I am hopeful that the crisis has past.
Other than that, same ole same ole
My boss is retiring at the end of the month, so I am sure changes are a brewing
I am still in the process of accepting my new age, not there yet, still in denial
actually!
Enjoy the weekend
Predictions?
As all social media savy users do, I posted geo's picture on FB, only to hear from his brother in Denver, that he was sitting in the middle of a blizzard
So better Denver than us!
Are we going to build a wall at Holtzapalooza?
Then Monday begin with a new boss who has not been hired as of yet, uncertainty, the main stay of life
Is everyone on pins and needles for the draft?
The bird not the parent club for the Bisons. so husband desperately wanted to go to the Bison game last night, Scranton Wilkes Barre is in town, but even he would not brave the cold! brrr
So we are continueing with our Benefit wrap up at 431!
Getting excited for the pending trip
2017 we are looking at Ireland!
It will be our little secret, about the advanced age comment
Other than that, not to much else to report!
VP? Those are some important letters! Awesome Adam! Congratulations!
Good morning all. It's gonna be a hot one. I'd like to apologize now for being grumpy... Heat and me do not mix.
Don't forget to hug a Vet today!
just saw the facebook of nc jll at the marathon finish line with her twins proudly looking on. Way to go jll !! Is this weekend's heat a forecast of our upcoming summer? Enjoy.
Oh Yeah! Great job Jll!!! Incredible.
Boy, a beautiful, gorgeous evening last night.
Ducks! There will be ducks! Incredible.
Fun night. Thanks everyone for coming.
Miss Emma is Sweet 16 today! Yeah!
Zach and I had a fun evening last night down at Larkin. We rocked out!
And a big HB to nc emma today. Will miss you in study hall. Make the best of 16!
Enjoy your weekend
so the article on Jenna and I was only on line and only available for the moring edition, so it was good press, but in limited release only! Too funny
Make someone smile today!
Happy happy birthday to my big brother! Cheers!
Oh I missed your birthday Unckie. Happy belated Birthday to you. I hope you had a nice vacation.
Every Wed, there is 2 mile walking tour of the city, conducted by noted COT historian, Skip Johnson
Next weeks tour is going to encompass Grove St, so if anyone is interested in learning a little bit more about " where it all began" for us, come join us!
Most of our assigned tasks have been sort of completed, so I think we will be good for 7-30
Other than that, final payment for our trip to Italy is due Monday.
so thank you Mom!
So the Wed Warrior Walk, this wed, will be starting at the main st library, at 6:30 PM
I believe the route is on face book, I know we just try and stay at a 2 mile walk.
this was organized by Jenna and a few others, the first week we had 9, and we did Elmwood park and part of fletcher.
COT Garden Walk this weekend as well
Stay cool all!
He's got a sprinters mentality. I can tell.
Man is it hot out... Only to be hotter tomorrow. Ugh.
Stay cool family.
Left Winston Salem NC at 3 AM and arrived in EA at 12:30. Only problem is that now I can't stand up. Promise a schedule palooza update tomorrow. Need to go and try to do something to save my lawn.
