I am very excited for Holtzapalooza part 3 It is way better than a football at Christmas! Will we be saying the Pledge of Allegance? Just wondering if we need a flag?
The first of the unofficial palooza events begins this morning as UG and I meet up with "the young pups" at Rothland G.C. In all honesty I have to confess that we had a practice kickball game last evening and it did not go well, at least for me. Oliver is definitely ready but I sustained what might have been a career ending injury. We will see if I survive golf. Tomorrow is almost here. Keep the showers far, far, far to the south.
What a day yesterday! I can't believe it's come and gone! What a day! The games were fun, the food delicious, and the company even better. So much fun! AND the weather cooperated. The Duck Race was Epic... Who comes that prepared to a Duck Race? Classic. I think Aunt P had a great idea after it was all over. "We need to have another planning meeting". I agree! Let's gets together soon.
It was all of that and more. Thank you so much to everyone; your time, talents, all of the contributions. It is pretty amazing what we put together. Yes, more meetings are in order!
Back home in ATL and missing you all. What a great time we had! My kids have turned their pockets inside out looking for just one more starburst .. and the ducks have places of honor on their dressers.
Next planning meeting in Atlanta!
Thanks for everyone's hard work to make it an amazing day!
What possibly could we have done to make it better??? At a loss for words on that one. The fact that so many people came to celebrate all that is Holtz! It was a day filled with great fun, wonderful food, cold drinks and people we all wish to spend time with! 5 years sounds like a great goal! Count down to 5 years, Preliminary planning phase 1.
Thank you all! Only one thing would have made the day more perfect, and we all know what that would have been!
Good to see that the family blog still has a little life left in it. Since it is my only social network outlet I have a vested interest in trying to keep it going. Since Jimmy was still a participant in the post 06 palooza days, I keep thinking that he may show up. I will keep checking.
Happy 40th son of mine. Since I didn't have time to post this yesterday I can safely say that, according to you, you had a good birthday. Next stop 50 and you will be the same age as your cousin jff will be very soon. He will be able to tell you all about it.
I hope you had a nice birthday Adam... Let's get together soon. We spent yesterday evening at Pearl Street Grill celebrating a really good friends wedding and reception... Reminded me of Jill and Gary being there. Great times. Jenna owned the dance floor that night. Ahhhhh Jimmy! Lest we never forget. I'm hoping to convince Sandra to go on a kayak excursion.
And so we did! What a day, yesterday. We left before lunch and drove out to Indian Falls Log Cabin. It was so nice to enjoy lunch with a great view. Then we took our kayaks to the Oak Orchard River in the Iroquois Reserve and explored a bit. Since we were soooo close to Waterport, we checked out Lake Alice for a future adventure. We stopped off at Rush's Market Stand and grabbed some corn, melons, blueberries and a beautiful flower for Sandra. Since we were SO FAR from home... We called some friends and asked if we could stop by. What a great day!
Wow. The Pilafs, altho they did not make the medal stand, sure know how to make the most of the summer. Nothing that exciting here in the Southtowns. I know that there has not been a lot of baseball talk here of late, but come on, the Yankees sellers at trade deadline? That's a first. And two major "retirements" in the same week? I guess if you live long enough you eventually see everything. The big debate this morning: Will A-rod be honored in monument valley at Yankee stadium? Played golf yesterday back at Rothland. Beautiful day and another blowup for me on 18. Woe is me!! Enjoy our warm weather.
The family is always so busy! Always exciting to hear what everyone is up to! So today we pick up all of our tickets, passes, etc for our trip to Italy! Other than that, is everyone enjoying the stifling heat with no rain in sight! Cant remember the last time the grass needed to be cut! Yankee's definitely went into sell mode, and who thinks A Rod will resurface in someother ball park? Olympics have been fun, and seeing the bills flag even better! enjoy today and all that it brings, and hey 2 weeks from tomorrow I will be drinking in front of the Trevi fountain, waving at the pope!
Wow! Only 2 weeks. That is so exciting. The time leading up to a big trip is sometimes as much fun as the trip itself, but not so much in this case. The good news is that the Pope will definitely wave back. I have basically moved into the upstairs air conditioned bedroom. Had plans for today's Bisons game but will not happen. Enjoyed K's palooza pix. Stay cool.
Hope that everyone had an enjoyable weekend. Nice that it has cooled down, at least a little bit. Quiet here with the Jewettville Holtzes in Mass. for the week. My rescheduled golf event is for today but it's not looking all that great out there. Let's make this week a good one.
Wow! In Danvers, MA for a wedding this weekend. We did a little sightseeing in Salem, which was a really cool town. Old. Impressive. This is just a really cool area of our country.
A belated most happy 50th to my favorite nphw jff. Hope that it was a dandy. "Batchin" it this week, huh? Stay out of trouble. Back in WNY after our baby sitting gig in Hot, and it was a really HOT Lanta. Lots of fun with the girls and it seemed as if K and Eric enjoyed the Fla. Keys and got out before the nasty weather hits. Back to school tomorrow and long pants for the first time since June 17. Have a great week. Hope that our travellers continue to enjoy their adventures.
Welcome back from Hotlanta! Yikes! After the summer we've had... And you're saying it was hot down there. Oh boy. I'm glad you had fun. Yep, Zach and I are on our own. Sigh.
Rapidly running out of summer but at least nphw jff is making the most of it. Son Adm is running in the chicken wing 5k this AM so we will be heading down to wish him luck and make a short visit. Firetrucks and food trucks in EA today. Perhaps? Looks as if our travellers have been having a great time. One more day of summer tomorrow and that is it. Hard to believe.
So here we are, day 3 of being home. Still dragging, not from jet lag but from all fun that was had! I highly recommend Italy to everybody! Switzerland not so much, but Italy! go and be prepared for the time of your life! Hope everyone enjoyed the summer! seems once the kids go back to school, summer appears to be over! The twins first birthday extravaganza will be November 6th, Sunday. More to come on that! Other than that, sad our adventure is over! But oh so happy we had one! thanks Mom!
Good to have everyone back on this side of the pond. Gotta be a lot of good stories to be told. First week of school is over and I have been basically par-boiled. The HEAT! Looking forward to the next 2 days. Enjoy our weekend. Go Bills!
Boy oh boy, yesterday was hot. 94 feel like temperature, 88/89 real... Yuck. So much humidity. Well, Sandra, Emma and I went to the Music is Arts Festival. As usual, really, really nice time. Emma talked to a couple of the artists and had a nice time. Go Bills!!!
LAST nite at meet the teacher nite, after I was done a parent came up to ask if my mother had been a teacher. I said yes and she related how her and her siblings, all the Brady family from Tonawanda had Mom and how much they loved her. Apparently I look "just like her" and have her mannerisms. She was very nice. Good words to hear. Also had a nice conversation with Trey Miano but didn't see any Pilafs. ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL??? Me, I'm going to bed early. It's been a tough week. Can't access my fantasy team as yahoo and i keep going round and round about passwords and account keys. After last week, better I stay clear.
Yeah, we missed Meet the Teacher night, both of us ha desperate plans... Sorry we missed you. Trey is a good guy. Sandra is off to Wisconsin... Zach took off to Toronto for a hockey game... Emma is doing homework. So it's just me, eating chips watching New England dominate. Ugh.
Well nphw, looks like you and me. At least the U. of M. is going well for you and the Pilaf packers are poised to make me your third consecutive victim. For me, I finally got access to my team, but I am not sure that it is going to make a difference. Happy First day of fall to all. 7 in a row for our Redsox? I guess that some things are going well after all. Friday is upon us.
Wow! 43 degrees outside... I'm I'm pjs and a sweatshirt. I am not going fishing this morning... Brrrrrrr... Yep, Michigan is playing well. They are definitely fun to watch. So Sandra and I had a fun time at Woodcock a Brothers last night for Octoberfest. Good music, good food, good beer and Zach was nice enough to drive his mom and dad home. Woo Hoo! Bonus.
How about them Bills??? That Rex is a genius. Another week is upon us. Enjoy it for what it is. Adam insists that the reason for yesterday was my being at the Mount and not watching.
Another week of my not watching and a Bills victory. If someone was superstitious they might insist that I stay as far away as possible from the next game. Home from a very nice Atlanta weekend. The Holtz-Twombley experience took everyone to the Ted for the final nite game of the season on Sat. Great time, as was the entire weekend. Getting to be less and less of an airline traveler. That's not a lot of fun. Let the baseball playoffs begin
I'm glad you guys had fun down in Hot'lanta. We saw some fun pictures. Yeah, I'm with you. We started watching the game, we were up 16-0... And I didn't want to see the great implosion so we went to some wineries in Niagara County. Glad the Bills held on to win.
Rex is GENIUS!!! And Rob is almost as smart. Where are all of those people who were putting our Bills down after their first two losses? Treason I tell you if you don't billieve in our boys! 14-2. You can count on it. Well maybe 13-3.
Hm. 13-3? I love the optimism. After our 0-2 start I was thinking 2-10 record. Yes, 2-10, 12 games. I was thinking something catastrophic was going to happen canceling the season. Now I'm more optimistic, now I'm thinking we go 4-12. Our next win against the Patriots again, they stink.
Good to see the bandwagon getting more and more crowded. I think it's time for the Ryan brothers to make another tops ad to get everyone all excited all over again. Auntie and I actually went for a walk over to Knox farm after school today. Another beautiful day. Keep them coming.
Looks like it's you and me Unckie. So excited about the World Series this year, Indians, Cubs, no losers there. Pretty cool. Sandra really enjoyed her birthday party. Thanks for coming. Next up, twins bday party. Should be fun.
Sorry that I didn't respond to the b-day party. Has been pretty busy and I know that Auntie texted you our thanks. I would have texted you also but my texts only go to mr. fixxitt. He wanted it that way. Agreed that whoever wins the series is fine with me.
Happy Halloween Family! Sorry I have been absent, not sure why? Busy? Oh well my apologies, lets catch up! Beautiful trip to Atlanta, a month ago, but wonderful trip! Great trip to Braves Stadium, now that was so much fun! Thank you to all who made that possible! Who knew 2 beers per person! Worst bills game ever, in the history of worst bills game, so say all? How long will they keep Rob and Rex around? Putrid! Glad baseball goes another day! Friendly reminder, Twins birthday party Sunday, the bills play Monday so no conflict there! Looking at traveling again in 2017, there has been talk of Ireland, but I have to tell you, I just loved Rome! Other than that, October flew by at record speed! Go Cubs, would love to see that series go 7!
Lots more time on my hands now that I am retired, again. I heard that Tops needs a cart guy. Auntie is already in favor of ANYTHING for me. I wonder why? Really enjoyed the twins b-day party on sunday. Couldn't have been better in any way, shape or form. Thanks to yesterday's wind storm I can go back outside and spend the next couple of days re-raking everything that I raked last week. Could be worse. Could be in Lackawanna. Guess I have to throw a shout out to my brother, our only family military vet, right? Did I miss someone? At least this will be a good weekend for the Bills.
Holy cow! What happened Michigan? College football, that's why I love it
So, Emma's MSM Musical at MSM is really really good. What a great show. I'm sure lovely miss Audrey is going to love it. Unckie, maybe you could find a job as a historian somewhere, Teddy Roosevelt site? I'd come to see you that.
Audrey had the most wonderful day. By all reports the performance was great, not unexpected, but the girls really enjoyed their day. So happy that all went so well. Lots of college upsets this weekend but a bit dull without the Bills to torment me. I'm not getting up tomorrow morning. That is going to seem weird. Sounds as if we have a go for the 18th. Just waiting on Auntie B. and she was good with it last weekend.
Can't say that I was upset about not having to drive in to work this AM. a really unpleasant day yesterday weatherwise. Nice to see our Bills pull out an ugly win yesterday. Looking forward to all of the good things on thursday. Make the best of a short workweek for most.
Thanksgiving break is rapidly coming to a close and hopefully it was all it could be for everyone Took the kids down to the arrival of Santa at Absolut care last nite and had a fantastic time. What a great job was done by everyone to entertain the little, and not so little, kids for the evening. And since I got a shout out by name from Santa last nite in front of Oliver, Audrey and Ben, I have a lot of "Santa Cred" with my grandchildren. Go Bills!!
Oh my it's been awhile... Sorry. We had a great time down in Butler. We checked out a couple new to us bars and I had some REALLY good beer. This week I'm supposed to be on jury duty but even with a low number I keep on avoiding it. Luck is on my side. Oh no! I just jinxed myself.
No reports on the Thanksgiving Bowl in Butler? Does that mean that the Pilaf undefeated streak came to a halt? I told Oliver all about the famous football games and he was intrigued. When Oliver told me that he didn't like playing football in the snow I had to come down hard on the poor boy. I think that cousin jff will have to set him straight.
I'll have a talk with Oliver. No worries. I'll fill his head with stories of the big game that's for sure. But no game in Butler, I think they just make jeeps down there... We're getting closer to the big day... HoltzaChristmas!!! I have no idea what my dad got for the Pirate Game, sorry. He did ask if the $ amount went up to $3 though, so I expect a good one from him this year.
Looking out the window I think that it was a good decision to golf at Byrncliff on tuesday. Funny, I could just about make it to the counter to pay since the pro shop was filled with x-country ski rentals. Yes, it was a bit brisk, and yes, there were 4 others on the course that I saw. Go Bills!!
Woo hoo! You got your December in, awesome. I love watching the Army Navy game with Zachary! It's something we've done since he was young. I didn't get to watch it with him yesterday but we were texting back and forth. Congrats Army!
Must admit that I was glad to be retired both yesterday PM and today AM. The nog is made and is in the refrigerator "fermenting". Looks as if sunday will be a reasonable travel day and plans are moving along for sunday. Hope that everyone is preparing for an appsapaloozamas for the ages.
Oh wow, here it is almost New Year! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas day! I have to confess, I was a little blue not seeing everyone for the first time in my 60 years! But hey, we had our day, which was very fun! Thank you EA Holtz's for hosting! My sister and I will paper/rock/scissors to see who hosts next year! I hope everyone has fun plans for the New Year? Meeting my Brother and sister on Friday night for dinner, in our Happy New Years Eve Eve celebration! Hoping the snow stays south of the south towns that day! I did text my brother and wish him Happy Birthday and merry Christmas, and offered to pick him up from the train station! so hoping that exonerates me from the no communication re garding almost Christmas holtz bash. So our elected official, for her Dad's 70th, is getting us a tour of the Capitol and the White House, in April, and tickets for either the Orioles or Nationals How exciting is that I got a fitbit for Christmas, and it is nagging me to walk!! Enjoy the day family! and hey remember, somewhere up there, someone likes us!
Twas a really strange xmas not seeing everyone, but, to echo my sister's sentiments, we did have a REALLY good celebration, and the end result is that it is not so much the calendar day as it is the spirit. Keeping with the theme of not celebrating holidays on the holiday, yes, it will be new year's eve not on new year's eve. House has already been de-christmased since we are getting out of dodge early next week which is also a little strange having all of the decorations gone before the first of the year. Here is hoping that 2017 is super for all. I guess that the bottom line is that all in all last year wasn't so bad. By the way, anyone ever get fired, ala Rexie, and walk away with 16 and a half mil? Me either.
So here we are on the eve of our GRAM project. I have asked daughter to upload the face book post to the blog so family who don't do facebook can check the blog, but so far, not seeing it. I for one am very excited to start my 100 acts of kindness, keeping Anastasia's memory and her kind and gracious heart out in the Universe. I have some plans made, I was a little nervous as to just how to go about this? Can I no longer scream at drivers? What about evil looks at line cutters? and the piece de risastance, my endless sighing in the grocery line when I am annoyed at the coupon queen in line in front of me. But I digress, being nice, putting all that nice out there for 28 days will be inspiring. I am sticking to a strict February budget, so I can buy coffee, lunch, donate a little more, etc. Thanks to everyone who put this together, the coupons, the idea, the facebook page, it all is just so overwhelming some days. And Anastasia, she would get a hoot out of this. How do you keep someones memory alive? Is it being a better, nicer person? I hope so, I truly hope so Lets face it, we all can use a dose of nice. Good luck Family 1-2-3 GO

Golf was an epic event for the ages and certainly got the palooza festivities off to the right start. See you all tomorrow.

Cheers everyone.

ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL ???? Glad to see a day with much more pleasant temps and humidity !!
I was ready.
Beautiful day today. I would've liked to see a win.
Are we getting ready for thursday? That is a quick turnaround.
LAST nite at meet the teacher nite, after I was done a parent came up to ask if my mother had been a teacher. Sandra is off to Wisconsin... Zach took off to Toronto for a hockey game... Emma is doing homework. So it's just me, eating chips watching New England dominate. Ugh.
That's supposed to read "separate plans". Sheesh.
Well nphw, looks like you and me. At least the U. of M. is going well for you and the Pilaf packers are poised to make me your third consecutive victim.
And it did! What a series.
Big day today for the twins... Can't wIt. Should be fun.
October did go by pretty quick, why?
Just waiting on Auntie B. and she was good with it last weekend.
snuck out a narrow win last nite over nphw jff. Made up a bit for the one point loss to "byeweek" 2 weeks ago. Tough league
Close game! I was biting my nails the whole time.
Hello snow!
Merry Day after Christmas, kind of weird not seeing everyone yesterday. I hope everyone had an awesome Christmas Day.
So our elected official, for her Dad's 70th, is getting us a tour of the Capitol and the White House, in April, and tickets for either the Orioles or Nationals
How exciting is that
I got a fitbit for Christmas, and it is nagging me to walk!!
Enjoy the day family!
and hey remember, somewhere up there, someone likes us!
My Christmas gift to Western New York: Good by to the Ryan Brothers, and take your 27 million with you!
Me either.
So, do you think it possible that based on the Bills game today, that every season ticket holder will cancel for next year?
Yes, yes I do.
I'm not sure why I keep on forgetting to check the blob.
So far so good for 2017.
Oh my!,,,
What's going on?
I guess that's it. It's been a good run.
I hope so, I truly hope so
Lets face it, we all can use a dose of nice.
Good luck Family
