CONGRATULATIONS JILL AND GARY!
The morning of the EP began with George, Betsy, and Jenna attempting to save a 20x20 tent that had collapsed from the rain and wind at 6am. The tent was secured, but the rain kept coming. All available tv's were turned to the Weather Channel as we even googled, how to understand doppler radar. Jill and Gary received a BEAUTIFUL bouqet from AP, UC, KDH, Adm, Amy. It was much appreciated. We had a few setbacks in the AM before the guest list arrived which included: tent collapsing, a broken mirror outside, a swarm of unwanted bees, and rain that went away hours before the party. We had a wonderful day for the happy couple, and it was topped off by the company we shared it with. Here are just a few pictures from the party:
Aunt Sue arrived early to generously put the centerpieces together, just as the rain stopped and the sun came out.
The guest list ranged in age from 7 months old to 92 years young. I bet you can't guess which ones are which.
James is 7 month old son to Katie and Charlie (friends of the family). He was photogenic and was given much deserved attention.
Grandma didn't have much of a choice but to pose for the camera. She was also given much deserved attention, but was not as photogenic.
Some didn't even know their picture was being taken.
The food was wonderful, the desert was incredible, the entertainment (especially the singing of top 10 hits with the helium balloons after 830pm) was hilarious. And were now still eating left overs!
All in all the party was a success. The weather was beautiful. The rain managed to stop before 11am. Thank you to everyone who helped make their engagement party so special. Congratulations Jill and Gary!

Thank you daughter, for such a moving tribute to the day! All in all thanks to many hands, it was a spectacular day! AS and Sndra were such a big help, can not thank you enough! Newphew did his best to retain his ladder golf title, but melissa sue did give him a run for his money. I use to think the title of our blog should be changed, but you know what, our big day is any day we celebrate together! Much love to all who were with us that day, who thought about us,and to those who wished they could have been with us,
Hip HIp Hooray, its Saturday, ( it rhymes) I crack myself up sometimes.
Chowda today, this is my own opinion but I think UG chowda rates right up there with thanksgiving, show of hands who concur???
And the bils fire there offensive coordinator, do they think that is going to help...
Beer, chowda and dogs at 4, come on down!
Awesome blog to a wondertful day, nice job. No mention of my ladder game skills, at least there's a picture of me and my perfect form.
I went to see Tea Leaf Green last night, gorgeous Buffalo night and a really good show. We left before the Wall Flowers came on (sorry Jakob, not a fan).
Today Zach and I are off to WingFest before we go to the BIG chowder party. See everyone there.
Mmmmmm... good chowder yesterday, thanks daddy.
Buffalo WingFest was great yesterday. Beautiful weasther, plenty of sauces and styles to choose from... "Instant Death", "DOA", and "Nuclear" almost did me in though. Zach had fun too even though he stayed away from the fiery death wings that I had.
chowder yesterday was the best ever!
Great JOb, UG! Wonderful evening at my sisters, good food, good conversation, great time..
Enjoy Sunday one and all
Missing the chowderfest was another disappointment. Guess that a late Aug/early Sept trip was ill advised. Sounds as if everyone enjoyed themselves and ate well, as always. I still think that UG has a second career calling as a chef and I would enjoy seeing him go nose to nose with Chef Ramsay. Did finish the baseball season with a trip to Prince George's stadium and the Bowie Baysox so it is not with total depression that I head off to another year in the classroom tomorrow. Enjoy the official end of summer/
Never an ill advised trip, brother, glad you got home safe and sound!
Took Anastasia for ice cream last nite, obligatory strawberry sundae with whip cream, of which she ate every bite! field trip to walmart today so she can get thin sox??? whatever that is??
sun is out, enjoy the last gasps of summer!
Welcome home AP and Unckie, hopefully the weather didn't get you down.
Labor Day today... so me thinks I'll shower.
Actually did a few things to the camper and took it down. We're planning on using it soon, so it's ready to go.
Meant to throw some kudos nc jnn's way on the great job on the new blog. Great pix. Raining here now. Seems to follow wherever we go.
well here we are, another school year has started, nothing signifies the passage of time like another school yr!
hope everyone enjoyed there holiday, and are ready to put a full 7.5 in at your desk!
Enjoy
No jury duty for me... I totally got lucky, which as we all know (nothing needs to be said). I got sent to the jury room for questions, but the lawyers picked their jury before they got to me. So I'm off for another 8 years. Yeah!
Celebrated the kids first day of school with a dinner at the Roadhouse with Mr. and Mrs. Fixxit (we went dutch). Good time.
Happy wed, one and all! I was hoping the prez had words of encouragement for me today, but apparently no
nephew glad to see the scales of justice swung in your favor.
so our newest freshman,(austin) only had one faux paux the first day of high school, he walked into the wrong classroom, filled with Jr's for a communications class, one lad took pity on him and showed him where he needed to be, so he found all his classrooms, is joining the Robotics Club, and playing fall baseball.. high school endless possibilities...
had anastasia over for dinner on Monday, she did not stay too long as I had no desert to offer her!
But did everyone see the 94 year old that just wrote a book??
Our Mom is such a slacker! We are still trying to get through Good Night Sun, for our U Tube video's...
Enjoy 09/09/09
Remember the beatles tune, number 9 number 9 number 9...
Big updates from the ATL, folks -- I turned in my beloved 2 door sports car for a 4 door mommy mobile yesterday. Practical? Yes. A very cool new car? Absolutely? But still a hard transition!!
Glad to hear everyone's back to school is going well --
Welcome to practical thinking 101... stinks doesn't it?
Second fastest Yankees team of all time to reach 90 wins. Only the 1998 team did it quicker.
was your two door sportscar at least a gas guzzler??? So you could get the govt check to more gas efficient?
a little known factoid of life, we all end up with a grocery getter, sad but true!
Derek Jetter Derek Jetter Derek Jetter the man the myth the legend the reason to watch baseball. God bless God love you. Congrats!!!!!!!!!!
There were probably a few of those hits that weren't bunts.
How can the breaking of a 72 year old record not at least garner you the number 1 spot on the top ten plays of the day, gheesh!
It's spelled JETER real fans no that.
Unkie were you a victim of the 290 traffic re-direction? It only took me close to an hour to get home yesterday! Thanks to the quick action of my parents warning me that the 290 was closed in both directions due to the spillage of 75000 gallons of jet fuel.
Took the day off today where i will just lounge around.
I am encouraging all Buffalo Bills fans to ignore the Las Vegas odds makers that put the Bills as a 7 touch down underdog to the New England Patriots. This team looks better on the field than it does on paper, and I look better on paper than I do on the field
GO BILLS!
One of the good things about being a part timer is that i was home before all of that mess. It is Friday isn't it? But we still have to wait until Monday to see our heroes in action. What does nphw jff think about the maize and blue going against the fighting irish this weekend. uncle lou still sees ND in the BCS championship game against Fla. Going to happen? Can uncle lou be incorrect? What about our Bulls against the Pitt Panthers? Could be a good game. Let's hope. Enjoy the weekend all.
I/we'll be at the UB game today, we've got season tickets this year. Can't wait, we had so much fun going to the games last year.
Big M today, not sure what I'm going to expect this year. They still don't have their quarterback. Hopefully they're competitive against ND.
I golfed in a best ball tourney all day yesterday and even made the putting competition finals by sinking 2 of 3 12 ft. putts. I could have won a new set of Callaway clubs and bag if my sudden death putt was a half inch further to the right.
A huge OUCH on that missed putt. That would have been great and it would have taken care of the pirate gift early since I know that you wouldn't have wanted to keep the Callaways. Always a better day to play golf than work. I think that the UB game might be somewhere on cable today and I will be looking. Enjoy all. I have decided to put all baseball aside and focus completely on fantasy football. go Mat Schaub!!
Yep, bummer on the close miss(putt)... story of my life. At least I have a wife that loves me (most of the time) and kids that are healthy and happy. I did make a 40 ft. putt on hole 18 to save par. We ended up as a group not bogeying any holes because of that.
Yesterday's UB game can be summed up like this... it was a gorgeous day outside. Unfortunately UB had too many turnovers and Pitt made them pay for it. Next home game is 10/3 and we'll be there. Thanks to my good friend Shawn for the season tickets.
So it was a warp speed weekend. And then here we are back at work.
dreading the bils game tonite, just do not have a good feeling or maybe its no breakfast??
had mom over for sunday football and beef stew. unfortunately I added mushrooms and egg noodles, me bad, but she cleaned her plate none the less, other than that nothing really happenin in my world
Maybe a Vegas blog from cookie???
As she does have a video of a celebrity eating at burger king!
Unfortunately back at work after an awesome vacation. Today is catch up day then traveling to Nashville and Houston for work on Tues and Wed.
Coming soon....Vegas blog.
Perhaps the bills can pull off a major upset tonight. Ah, I doubt it!!!!
Enjoy your Monday Night however you spend it.
What sin did we as bills fans commit? I was prepared for a blowout. I could have handled that. But to lose like that?
Not a lot of good decisions on my part over the years, but I did make a good one last nite. I went to bed with the Bills up at halftime, and closed the door so I couldn't hear anything. That ending last nite could have been too much for me if I had actually been watching. Enjoy the day.
I stubbed my toe this AM, I broke a nail yesterday, way below the ouch point, I have a pimple in my nose, none none of these compare to the pain of the last 2 minutes of the bils game.
Well at least the Yankees won
Try and muddle through the day
I think my brother should tell us about his failing electrical, that might be an enlightening story, get enlightening, I crack myself up sometimes
I did my bit, family -- I stayed awake as long as I could and left the TV with the bills ahead. Let another season of fall heartbreak begin! Its like Lucy pulling the football out from Charlie Brown, over and over again...
Me and anonymous at the same time?
It just gets worse and worse
Seriously, did anyone see Dick Jauron's post-game conference? He shows no emotion!!!
Typical Bills showing.
yo I don't mean to interupt but Perez has the best blog of the year.
Everyone needs to go to www.onion.com to read the article on the tribute to Derek Jeter for having 144 fewer hits than Harold Baines. Very informative.
OK, I'll bite.
I know that the probing report of the Onion on the jeter controversy may have ruffled a few family feathers, but what we have to keep in perspective is that they are dealing objectively with what has happened to this point, not what may or may not happen in the future. I believe that their point is that yes, Jeter may eventually get 6 or 7 thousand hits, but to this point it is what it is and all of uber celebrations may be a bit premature, not that yankee fans are prone to premature celebration.
i sorry i fumbled the ball on sunday and blew another game for buffalo. i promise i will hold onto it. if by chance i drop the ball please do not spray paint my front lawn.
go tampa bay. oh wrong team. i mean go buffalo.
Saturday Saturday, sung to the tune of Sir Elton John's Saturday nites allright..
sun is out, the day is whatever we want it to be, how exciting
rolled over and opened my eyes just in time to see ichirosoozooki win the game UGH
Now I know our blog is famous, and anyone who is anyone has from time to time stopped by, but I am quessing that someone else is posing as Leodis, because seriously if you heard the guy talk on TV, there is no way in ----he knows how to write!
Make it work!
Another beautiful day with a touch of fall in the air, meaning that there was frost this morning. Can our Bills make it a truly perfect day? Tune in at 4 and we will find out. My spray paint is at the ready in cast they don't. Enjoy
It may be time for me to start building the ark, family -- its rained nearly nonstop here since Tuesday, and last night it started thunderstorming at midnight and continues to this very moment. 7 nonstop hours of thunderstorms? That can't be a good sign. At least watching peoples garbage cans (named "Herbie Curbies" here in the ATL) wash down the street is amusing ...
Yesterday on the weather channel they already had the schools closed in the Torroca or Lorroca area, somewhere in Atl, and those people had to boil water? So sounds dire! Stay dry KDH!
Just so you know mini vans make it through washed out roads, sports carz dont
enjoy monday after a bills win...
I'm used to premature celebrations, just ask Sandra.
Could we actually go a month without a new post?
How about that Casper Ghosts blog?
Zach had an old school soccer practice last night out in the rain. He had an absolute riot and came home covered in mud. It was good to see.
premature celebration, too funny nephew
A new blog is definately in order!
There was a promise of a Casper blog, and also a las vegas blog, but nothing has materialized so far?
if it was not for the rain it would be a nice day for the first day of Autumn!
enjoy one and all enjoy
Did anybody read this story in yesterday's Buffalo News:
State police warn of 'Grandma scam' after Wilson woman loses nearly $6,000
Don't worry everybody...I called grandma and tested her. She passed with flying colors. Our inheritance is safe.
Just in case you thought I was kidding with the flooding here in the ATL family, I provide visual evidence:

check the roller coaster pictures! That amusement park is only about 6 miles (downhill) from my house.
Just an FYI, there will be one less place at the dinner table on Thanksgiving. Ruth, Gramma's friend, remember she was the one where Austin had to replace her hearing aid batteries after she took them out of her ear on Thanksgiving, the friend who accidentally found her way to vegas and not Philadelphia where she was suppose to go?
well, she upped and moved to North Carolina today, her family moved her to be closer to her daughter, so gramma is down a friend...and she is kind of blue...
We seem to be stalled on 48 so I will, as eldest male of the clan, cousins ed, rudy and junior notwithstanding, seize the leader ship initiative and
post to get us to 50. I would have thought that there would at least be comments on the yanks getting back to the playoffs. Me, I have a long day today with open house keeping me at school until 8:30 or so. I did get out for 9 holes of golf between dismissal and my return tho. All in all, a productive day.
Great day today! I went to Bocce's for lunch... very few things are better in life.
Zach lost his indoor soccer game last night 3-0 to a really, REALLY good team; St. Paul's. Whoever won, won the league last night. They played great but came up short, great job St. Amelia's! On a good note earlier in the day his school team St. John's beat St. Peter's (a really high number of goals to 1).
Major and minor league 2010 schedules are out; can't wait for the times to be posted, that's next. This year on the minor league trail... Altoona.
What a gorgous afternoon yesterday was.. Left work early for a dental appt, remember people, there is no quality of life if you have no teeth. so after standing on my head for an hour, and the sound of the dentist drill, permanently in my ear, I came home to a yankee win and glorious sunshine!
It is thursday, and alls well???
carpe diem
Zach soccer team (St. John's) won this afternoon and Zach played a really good game.
Emma finished her homework.
... just trying to give each kid fair amount time.
The weather forecast calls for more rain this afternoon and through the weekend, family. HOw excited am I?
Taking a baby class this weekend so I know how to change, swaddle, and bathe the newest Holtz. I already took the feeding class, so she should be all set after this weekend's tutelage!
I am tying to keep the comments on the "8's" if you notice
Went out for the obligatory fish fry, came home, 5-0. whoo hoo
life is good
Tomorrow, "chigago" with my girls, should be most enjoyable!
