The ADK
A Photo Blog by JT Pilaf
We had a wonderful time this year in the Adirondacks. The weather was beautiful, minus the one day we rented a pontoon boat for the day and the kids had a great time swimming and spending time on the beach.
I just liked laying around.
The kids enjoyed being pulled around on the jet ski.
And Sandra and I enjoyed watching the sun go down.
We had a nice setup on our own private beach.
We enjoyed the pontoon for the short time that it was overcast.
The kids loved hiking and going to Buttermilk Falls.
We enjoyed the wildlife...
and the scenery..
We went letter boxing and saw interesting things.
We went searching one early morning for a moose that "always" comes to Devil's Pond.
Even though it was gorgeous there.
We never saw the moose that day.
We enjoyed each other...
enjoyed playing on the beach...
building sandcastles...
and we enjoyed thinking that our site neighbor was Sam Elliott. Seriously if you closed your eyes it was his voice. Eery.
Zach and I canoed up the river to the waterfalls one morning.
We had fires every night to enjoy pie iron sandwiches "squishies" and S'mores.
We had fun at the Adirondack Museum.
We really enjoyed ourselves this year and can't wait to go back.

Those are absolutely gorgeous pictures, and inspire everyone to vacation in the beautiful adirondacks! It should be part of a travelog to boost tourism, I am contacting Chuck " I never saw a microphone I did not like" schumer to review! So I finished up training the Dr's at Children's on Friday and 3 of the Dr's were talking about a goal they had about climbing every Mt in the adirondacks! Nephew is that one of your goals??? Just curious
So my vacation week has begun, and I am in total relax mode, so I have no plans our weeks goal is to play it by ear, we have some tentative MLB plans... We will have to see how it plays out, as some things have come up....
But the possibilities are endless!
The one thing I wish I was doing this week is meeting the twins, but that will have to wait!
Jnna is helping a friend move today, and I am puttering, love that word, puttering!
Love vacation pix since there is so much of the year devoted to not vacationing. Quiet around here as nana packs to leave on monday for Atlanta. I remember when I worked at tonawanda iron, there were a few of the guys who, when "on vacation" would come over at 10AM break time to have coffee with everyone. I don't see that as something that members of this family do. Enjoy your vacation auntie.
Does AP need someone to carry her bag? Hail a cab? I could so go!
Im on vacation too!!!! And for the record I can catch the next flight out to Atlanta since as I said I'm on vacation. Is anyone else watching the bills game? This is time that I'll never get back! Great blog jff!
Happy Sunday, hope everyone enjoyed the bills game! Some storm! Other than that, Anastasia coming over for Turkey in the bag in the crock pot dinner, and cookie coming over to shower.
enjoy the day
I just showed Gram the pictures of our beloved Atlanta family. She was simply just beaming with joy and pride. Charlie and Elizabeth are so loved by her great grandmother. She said she loves you all very much.
Hope everyone enjoys your 8 hour work day! I don't have to set my alarm and fight traffic on the 400!
What great pictures of the Alanta family. I'm really glad the shared them. Auntie P please tell Kristen and fam we're thinking about them and miss them.
Ugh... back to work on a Monday.
Unckie, can we set up a golf date? I could take a half day, but prefer meeting someplace at 3:30. I'm just a little short on time.
hard to believe that nph jff could ever be short on vacation time. Heading to tonawanda after the airport dropoff. Other than that?? I trust that vacation mode is in full swing at 431
It's true, it's true. I only have one week right now. Of course I do acrue time BUT as it stands right now I'm on "the low" side.
I'll be beter in a couple pay checks.
Mondays almost done and I'm going home soon to have a stout. It was just one of those daze.
Day 2 of vacation. And we are cruisin off to cleveland!
Had a very nice lunch with my mom and brother yesterday! Not sure who was beaming more, my mom over lunch out, or my brother on a new granddaughters high!
Part of our lunch discussion was why nephew jff does not golf with his dad? thoughts, nephew?
Enjoy the day all!
K, hope you are feeling good?
And AP arrived without a hitch?
Keep us posted, and let us know when we can come and help!
I golf with my dad, not as often as I'd like to. I haven't even been out once this year. When it comes down to golfing or fishing, fishing wins every time; it's just cheaper to do.
Zachary is on St. Joe's JV-fresman soccer team. He's very excited.
I'll go golfing. Just let me know when.
So my former boss bailed on thurs. golf. I am ready to go nc jnn. Let me know where and when. I am assuming that you are travelling today, tuesday.
Jenna and Austin are in for golfing! I'm game for wherever. Let me know! I can go wherever. I'm so excited!
Great game in Cleveland. Indians won with a walk off homer. Beautiful stadium!
Had so much fun at Progressive field yesterday! Great Game!
Just to update all, not one drop of beer was spilled during the 5.8 earth quake!
We're going to do boat/beach today, but the weather is iffy??
So not sure what the plans will be?
Enjoy your workday!
pick a time and place for tomorrow. If Unc Gary is available, we have a foursome.
The golf twosome has pulled out of the driveway!
We had a really nice dinner with my folks last night, r. and Mrs. Fixxit. They brought over ribs and corn... delish.
Have fun golfing today.
Just an FYI; Steven Strasburg will be pitching in Syracuse on Saturday vs. Rochester @ 7PM.
Great fun on the links today. I don't think we set any records out there, but it's only fair to warn the Pilaf boys that their old man is spanking his drives big time and he is threatening to buy a new driver, if he can find one for less than ten bucks. Thanks again nc jnn for organizing and driving the team bus. Austin had one monster drive off the tee but his short game is, like most of us, a work in progress.
Great to hear you guys had fun and it seemed the weather was in your favor today.
I'm also glad t hear my dad was hitting his tee shots well. If there's anyone that can find a good driver for under $10 it'll be my dad.
Jff we will have to go to the golf course off the BLVD before October when they turn it into 149 houses. I am available until Tuesday when I have to go back to W-O-R-K. UGH!
Great time today golfing and then on my best friends boat!
Road trip with Aunt Sue, Gram, and Mom tomorrow to Honeoye Lake (sp).
Evergreen Golf Course; yep, we'll have to pay homage to the "great links on the canal".
Ay day after work for me is fine... I'm out at 3.
I'm golfing on Monday in a league then I'm free after that.
Honeoye Blog! Honeoye Blog! Travel safely and don't have too many at the California Ranch. Never understood the name of that place. Ask Mom about it, maybe she knows something.
Just showed aunt sue the blog. It look new to her and so do the people. She has been in-serviced on how to see the "people talking". The California ranch was named such because that's where the people lived.
Nope, still don't get it.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JFF!!!! Hope you enjoy your day.
Had a great day at Honeoye yesterday, kind of cloudy, but noneletheless, an enjoyable day with Barb and Chuck!
To explain the whole blog comment by daughter, she and AS were in the back seat of the car, and Jnna can access the blog on her phone, that is how AS got inserviced.
Happy birthday Nephew! Hope its an enjoyable one!
Hanging on to the weekend with both hands, as sighhhhhhh back to work on Monday UGH
Had a wonderful birthday yesterday thanks to my loving and generous family. Thank you everyone and thank you Sandra, Zach and Emma for the countless kisses and hugs.
Glad to hear nephew had a great birthday, that means summer is pretty much over. On to the fall, and football!
Too bad an impressive bils win was blacked out!
Off to the movies with cookie, as my vacation comes to an end! sighhh.... back to the grind in less than 24 hours!
Update from hotlanta please!
Zach has a busy, busy day today. He had his first day of work at school. A quick lunch and then he's off to get braces on his teeth. A short reprieve and soccer practice at 5:30.
I, on the other hand, am golfing after work today. First time out this summer, hopefully my irons will be kind to me. I was at the driving range last night and I kept hooking all my low irons... sheesh.
So I heard a tree fell on my sisters vacation home that she rented next week?
That sounds like the epitomy of holtz luck!
Yep.
I golfed for the first time this summer yesterday at Buffalo Tournament Club and shot a 49 (9 hole). I had some good shots but my short game added some strokes to my score. Overall I had fun, but my daze of shooting a 44 or 45 with the flu seem to be gone. Obviously you can't just play golf once a year and expect low scores. I did have longest drive on #7 though. It was a pretty sweet shot; Marty, Sandra's cousin, said he's never seen one farther on that hole. Boo-yaw!
Back from Hotlanta, and it was. Great to see the little ones who are growing by the day and had 2 fun outings with CJ and Jefferson at Fernback Science museum, and the World of Coke. Actually the world of coke was a bit hard to find and the Garmin sent us to a bad part of town initially, but we eventually found the world's biggest commercial. a belated HB to nphw jff and glad to hear that the Honeoye trip went well and everyone is back to work.
Welcome back.
Ooooooh the World of Coke. We love going to places like that, especially the museum. Glad to hear you had a good time down in Hot'lanta with the little nippers. Just in time for colder weather and rain.
Is summer really over?
I think my sister is going out of town so she does not have to have a chowder party and not invite her family, I am just saying
Been a very hard week at work, I have actually been very busy, and focused, I know I know me too!
thursday, sept 1st, where did our summer go!
Pay day thursday in the Kaleida world! Other than that, just not happy turning over the calendar!
Enjoy!
Two-thirds of 2011 gone. Sept. and back to school and football season starting. I have to start thinking about a pirate gift. Labor Day weekend starting tomorrow and then...
Hmmmm...
Big Labor Day weekend coming up. Saturday and Sunday is Wing Fest! [I'll be there both days] Saturday UB is @ Pitt, maybe the game will be on TV.
Hopefully the weather won't be too bad.
Did my parents leave me again???
That anonymous was me. What happened to AS and UG? Last I heard the rental in Va. was a casualty of Irene. Does that mean the trip is off? no wing fest for me. It's all about the house painting that I have been putting off since April
Is sept the official month to start considering a pirate gift?
I always felt that was a tad too early, but hey, I can start envisioning a snappy must have sought after trinket....
mmm let me see?
I must say I do fancy the socks with the toes in them...
who is watching the bils game tonight? oh wait listening to the bils game tonight?
How sad, isnt tonight the last Bison home game? seems like only yesterday geo and I froze at an April game!
Keep me posted on the whereabouts of my sister...
I dont want to talk to her or anything, I just want to know where she is...
We went to the second to last Bisons home game. It was a beautiful evening. We would have gone last night too but Zach had a soccer "meet and greet" at school. We brought Coke and potato salad [just letting you know]. It seems his school has a Coke contract, so no Pepsi products allowed.
It is just getting through friday, that is my goal! Looking at my calendar is just a reminder that summer is over, and what a summer it was! Graduations, Weddings, Birthdays, Births, just so much!
So much fun!
Enjoy the weekend all!

Looks like a busy fall for nphw Zack and the rest of the Pilafs. I was just thinking that maybe it was a good thing that all of the Adirondack campers were there earlier in August as opposed to las weekend.
Good Morning! The emails were sent about Fantasy Football the other day. If I could access my account we whould be able to go, but the Commish has to find my email and password.
Hope everyone enjoys your Saturday. Will definitely check out a game or two of Zach's.
Thanks K for the great pix of the girls on FB!
Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend, hopefully they meaning the weather people are wrong about the rain!
I don't think I received anything on fantasy football. Can you send it again please. One side of my house painted yesterday and it damn near killed me. Can't believe that I ever did this all summer long. The curse of aging.
Hope everyone is enjoying the day off! Took my Mom out yesterday, as she was having a bad day, how do you have a bad day at 94??? Just wondering out loud! It was too hot to sleep, so she was cranky, but did perk up by the time I got her home and of course a Yankee sweep puts a smile on anyones face!
Last day of back to school marathon shopping with our awesome austin! Need to get to the outlet mall before all the canadians get off the bridge!
Catch you later
Now that you mentioned marathons; "How I Met Your Mother" marathon was yesterday, that pretty much burned up most of my day. I know, not to constructive of a Labor Day. I'll do beter next year.
Emma's first day at middle school today! Where are the years going?
Happy first day of middle school ms Emma!
At least it is not Monday folks, that is all I have to say!
pretty hectic day at work, well if you let it!
Bro, are you all set with FF?
Holler if not, I do not think Geo had your correct email address?
My long running fantasy league draft was last night. The league has been going strong since 1989.
Anywho, I'm happy with my team. No Bills, so I should be competitive this year. Let the season begin.
Zach's first day of high school was today. Sandra said he looked very handsome. Emma was very excited about her second day of school. She purposley wore a Yankee shirt because her math teacher told his students not too.
Zach's first day back is a half-day? What?
I like my Holtz League football team. Watch out! Watch out!
Back in school. seems like I never left. Plus, no more short schedule. I am here the whole day when I'm here. I don't like my ff team with Tom Brady as my qb. Weather has not been too conducive to painting. I can't believe that any member of this family would deliberately wear Yankee garb just to annoy another. Where would Emma learn something like that??
