" To my Beloved Family" 02/23
As I sit here this AM, tears in my eyes-thinking- at the ripe old age of 95 and look back on my life, I keep thinking, have I made a differences, any impressions, any dent, or any good, in the life that was given to me?
Then I look back at yesterday and say, Here I am among all these good people, very good people who took a day out of their life to come from near and far to show their love and friendship for me! I am blessed, I am the king of the mountain, I am on top of the world!
Thanks to you!

Jff, please post any more pictures that you might have. thanks again to everyone, it was a great day!
That was gramma's thnk you note that she wrote, BTW
An excellent recap of the big event just a week ago. I wish it was last week. that would mean that there wasn't work tomorrow, but there is. Enjoy the day and thanks for the post AB
Happy Sunday, brrr cold, but at least the sun is out!
Happy Birthday Eve, AP! enjoy the next 24 hours, and party like a rock star!!
Happy Birthday AP! I hope you have a great day! Love ya!
I forgot to mention great job mom!
I am sorry to those guests who I may have forgot to take a picture of because it interrupted my nap! I am sure my cousins were able to capture the moment and can post additional pictures.
Happy Birthday Auntie P!!! Enjoy YOUR day.
Great blog! What a fun day that was, we should do it again.
Auntie says that it is only 29 more years until we can do it for her.
Thanks for the birthday wishes! Wish I could write a note as touching or look as good as Gram. I do, however, just like her, love you all.
PS The menage du trois was GREAT!! Get your mind out of the gutter--I am speaking of the wine that AB gave me.
Good to know AP, about the wine, that Tonawanda Liquor has good taste!
Hope you had a great birthday!
I didn't try... ummmmm... the Menage Du Trios... ummmm... was it good?
It's time to plan for the baseball season. There's some interesting scenarios out there.
No feedback on the Hockey trade?
Have the Sabres made the right moves to push them in the playoffs?
baseball, scenarios, plan, all good words!
02/29??? I have not written that date in 4 years!
mmm lets see what happened during the last time we had a leap day.
2008- Gas was 3.50$
Iceland had a huge financial crisis
New Jersey apologized for slavery
Elliott Spitzer resigned
Then we got David Patterson
Barack Obama was elected, none of this bodes well for 2012!
Enjoy leap day all!
Not sure if I am liking this new format?
Oooooh, a look back at 4 years ago. Well, let's see, 4 years ago I was a bit younger and the fancy of every ladies eye. So, not much has changed there.
How much was gas?
Yeesh... I have to fill up today. $3.95 at Sunoco, I'll have to take out a loan.
I declare, I'm not a fan of this new look.
Fun evening last night "AWANA-ing". We love the Mooney's drink specials and (not including Sandra) enjoy the prices and the food. Sandra is, unfortunately, limited to two menu items there.
Off to Albany today to meet up wiith the Quincy Holtzes. Looking forward to seeing Oliver's new swimming skills and Miss Audrey's charming smile. Will be travelling by way of Cooperstown. Seems that I have a nphw who is fond of a certain brewery there. I will have to check it out. Enjoy your weekend all. I plan to enjoy mine.
Happy Friday, 03/02- family
Travel safe brother! we will keep it together in WNY while you are away!
So the sabres are 4 pts out of the playoffs! are we still holding out hope?
So my sister and I got a wonderful invitation to Boerne for April, with the promise of Lady Bird Johnson's Gardens!
Do you think I can talk her into it?
already clock watching, going to be a long day!
OMMEGANG !!! Enjoy. Great beer and a very informative tour.
Yeah Friday! Man, I'm using a lot of !!!. I'll have to stop the coffee intake and start drinking water now.
Happy Friday All! I am competing in the 8K Shamrock Run tomorrow and let me just say the weather is looking fabulous! Cold temps, high winds, rain/snow mix. Sounds like a great day to run 5 miles down on the waterfront.
Of course I tell my wonderful husband what the weather is going to be and he says, "I hope the beer tent will be OK." Absolutely no concern for his wife who is running in 60-70 mph gusts.
Classic. Sometimes you have to sacrifice the one to save the many (James Tiberius Kirk said that). I'm sure he's just as concerned for all the runners out there and not just you.
BTW, Little Ricky's mug was on ESPNU last night as UNC- Asheville destroyed NC- Charlotte. He was center court at the scorer's table (he's the PA announcer for the Bulldogs. Every time both teams past center court there he was. He's got a big head.
Rick on SportsCenter, thats awesome! did anyone land on the scorers table? You know how sometimes they sacrifice themselves for the ball? Just asking?
I will have to watch their schedule to see when the next time they are on TV!
They serve beer at races? Where have I been!
Saturday at noon.
Not sure if anyone noticed, but it is really windy out there!
Yankee game at 1PM today.
Other than that nothing else going on...
Maybe be a good day to hunker down!
enjoy the weekend family!
I am thinking of calling in tomorrow, I think I have Valley Fever just like Ike Davis!
UGH to Monday, I seriously think that was the fastest Saturday and Sunday ever!
So I had my mother over yesterday, for dinner, and she says to me I saw your sister every single day this week, if there was something really wrong with me, you would tell me right? I told her she was old, thats about it.
I just found it interesting that my mother associated a daily visit from my sister with her impending demise.
I really have a lot to do at work, so I better get busy!
Good morning, I agree, "double-ugh" to Monday.
So Jill, how was the Shamrock Race and more importantly, did the beer tent survive the wind?
Back home after an all too short weekend and yes, ugh, back to work. Who left the refrigerator door open and let in all the cold air? Do we get a new blog on the shamrock run? is it true that we are into spring training baseball? Hey, March Madness will take us directly into baseball season. I like the direction that this is going. Be careful out there people.
I have nothing to do with this new outlook! Ugh to Monday! Did anyone tell the sabres this game is a must win? Hope everyone had a nice weekend!
The Sabres got pushed around and looked slow last night so my guess is, no one told them that was a big game. Hopefully they look better on Wednesday, there's still time.
I love spring baseball on MLB Network. One day I'll have to venture down to Florida for some games. I've never done that before.
This is the mail system at host kalzix02.kaleidahealth.org.
I'm sorry to have to inform you that your message could not be delivered to one or more recipients. It's attached below.
For further assistance, please send mail to postmaster.
this is the new message I get at work when I try to email family and friends! Ridiculous!
Jff, the pictures from GG's party are great!
Can you post on the blog?
Happy Wed! I knd of have to admit as far as weekdays go, Wed is not that bad! Busy moving the Gates Staff to BGH over the next two weeks, so at work I will definately well have to work!
That being said, the Kaleida system is denying all my emails to family and friends, that is just cruel! As we all need a diversion now and then!
So is anyone thinking that Uncle Ralphie could be on the phone to Peyton????
have a great day!
Yes, Sandra took some very nice pictures from the party, we'll put some more up to share on the blog.
Today is definitely a day to wash the car/s. It's currently 48 degrees, can we reach 60 today?
62 Degrees!!!
so today is solar thursday! Thats fun! Does Mr fixxitt know that the solar flares could reek havoc with the satelites and the internet??
Peyton may go to Miami???
And Yu Darvish pitched well yesterday..
Still working hard at work, UGH to that!
Enjoy solar thursday to be followed with ??? what can we call Friday?
We're having a big "Solar Thursday" party tonight. Everyone is taking cover in my backyard after digging their own hole. It should be fun.
Take cover!
Email yesterday from arrowhead gc in akron that they were open. talked to guys last nite who played at terry hills in batavia. All of this should make the march round of golf a bit easier to get to, unless of course solar flares disrupt. Heard that Auntie B is set for 15 consecutive work days. Is that the case?? I do find it a lot easier to accept that than hearing that nphw was up for 15 consecutive work days. Looks like the flares would be challenged to reach the ground here today.
15 consecutive work daze!!! That's crazy. This isn't Russia is it? I could do 5, maybe. But I've got summer planning to do, baseball games to attend. I'm a busy boy.
brrr brrr brrr today!
At least the sun is out, not that it makes a difference!
Have a great saturday
Go Sabres!
Joined the Fixxitts last evening for a fish fry to kick off the birthday celebration for the missus. Seems that the mister is in a dilemma about attending his upcoming high school reunion. Is it legal for a resident of NT to attend a THS reunion? Cold this morning but I am liking the extended weather forecast. Are we supposed to root for the Sabres after they took 2 and a half months off? OK, Go Sabres!!
It's fine... what about all the graduates of THS that took off for North Dakota to strike it rich. Just because dad (aka Mr. Fixxit) didn't follow them and only went across the canal/ county line he should not be excluded from the festivities. I vote yes, he should be allowed to attend.
Whew, that was tough.
If anyone wants to they can mail me their bracket picks and $5, I'm running a bracket pool.
So I am halfway through my non stop work schedule to insure that MFG closes with all the medical records moved to where they need to be. so over the weekend I decided I needed a diversion, so on Saturday I hosted a Sabres must win party. The attendee's were Austin, me, geo, jenna, bronx, jill and gary. You had to wear sabres gear, eat snack food and drink beer. Needless to say the party was a success as the Sabres won!
GG not feeling well, Mrs Fixxitt taking her to the Dr today.
Enjoy Monday
Jff, will rick be going to Pttsburgh? As UNC Asheville opens up tournament play there.
I don't think Rick is going to Pittsburgh, I do know he's rooting for 'Cuse.
I think I may have convinced Sandra that Squatches exist. I came up with a wonderful power point presentation to support their existence. I even used Bible versus.
So I came strolling into work this morning 8:50 am (Usually supposed to be there at 8:30) with my Tim Hortons coffee cup (really a green tea) and one eye closed (half asleep). My excuse; I uh was late because of the standoff in NT. Now comeon! I can't use that excuse often; so I figured I would give it a try. Hey it worked!
Boy, you take a round-about-way to get to work. Did you happen to see Mr. Fixxit there. He likes to know "what's going on".
Okay, the Sabres are teasing us. 12 more games to go.
happy tuesday! My mother is something else! So she has not been feeling well, I stopped yesterday AM to see her before I went to work, and seriously she looked like death warmed over!
Barely talked, kept telling me she was just bracing for the next attach... So sister took her to the Dr, where he told she was going to be fine, bout of pleurisy, her heart was fine, well what a difference a Dr's visit makes. Stopped over after work, she was entertaining, talking and laughing, 100% turnaround from what she was the previous 7 hours!
to quote the old man, " mind powers, swede, mind powers" Once she was told she was going to be OK, she was...
So to everyone today and everyday, you are going to be OK..
OR, to take a line from 'Throw Momma From The Train', Irwin says, "Momma, You're alive!"
nephew, just curious? Which bible verse supports the existance of Sasquatch? Or should I ask Adam?
that would be Leviticus, 7:13
I'm not sure that thick loaves of bread made with yeast support the existence of a Squatch (mother makes it the same way)... but Adam could be right.
Jacob said, "My Brother Esau is a hairy man and I am a smooth man".
IT'S MADNESS!!!
I love this time of the year! I'm only working a half day on Thursday and Friday... I can't wait.
It's too bad Fab Melo is out for 'Cuse, I had to change my bracket, let's go Bruins beat those Hoyas.
Ah yes, the madness begins tomorrow. Another beautiful day for Mario to tour the Buffalo area. Do you think that Ralph got a bad medical prognosis and is going to open his wallet for one last shot? Leviticus? I was thinking the book of Amos, or maybe it was the book of Andy. I will have to do some research.
Thank you thank you family! For the early AM giggles! I am on day 11 of my 14 straight days, and things are progressing along nicely! Of the 7 remaining staff, 3 called off yesterday and one filed a union grievance!
I reverted back to my old management style, I brought in donuts and snickers, that usually brings everyone back to their senses!
OBTW, the sabres, just can not even bring myself to watch them, can that madness just end???
Enjoy basketball today!
Goooooood morning! Has anyone looked at what the weather is going to be like these next few days... incredible.
We had quite the shindig at Mooney's last night. 16 people gathered for an "Ides of March/ St. Patty's Day Party". Half of us came dressed as Roman Senators and the other half were dressed in their Irish green. Unfortunately a fight broke out at the end of the evening when the Green team disputed the some of the senators contribution the bill. Et tu Brute?
Ah yes, beware the Ides of March. Calpurnia warned him not to go but being a man. Anyhow, the thought for the day: Do you know why Calpurnia always dressed in the closet because......
Julius Sees her! First tipoff at 12:18 with 4 networks covering.
Great joke. I love it!
Is "the Cuse" in trouble? Chalkers so far.
Just got back from running the Shamrock Run! No beer tent this year, seems they thought constructing a tent in 70mph winds would be a liability. go figure. I took my free Genny Lights and hung out on the train tracks instead.
Just paid my $35 gas bill for the month of February. WooHoo!
UNC Asheville got hosed!!!
Some great games yesterday and the weather, man o man the weather is just too perfect!!!
So glad its Friday!!!
Jff, any big plans for your Mom's birthday??
Trying to think of something fun to get her?? Any ideas?
Enjoy the day all!
We had my mom over for dinner on Tuesday night. Ideas? Sorry... something to do with plants/ flowers? IDK
Jll's back from her Shamrock Run and in just under a week... congrats.
We're off to Rah-cha-cha... Happy St. Patty's Day!!!
When St. Patty's Day is on a Sat. at what time is it legal to have the first green beer? Some great bball games yesterday. syracuse could have been out, bona could have been in. Let's see what happens today. Happy day before your bday AS even tho you don't read this. Enjoy it.
Had to comment on nc jll's 8AM post. I could just picture her sitting there with her bottle of Genny writing out bills. Was that a work day?
Happy Birhtday to my sister! The sun is out, spring flowers are starting, its a day made just for her! And of course the story of her birthday is one of Holtz Lore!
Being born the day after St Patrick's day, the focus of course was the day before, in which Gramma tells of great detail all the beer that was consummed at 237 Grove St! Seems Chuck was taken to the St Patrick's day parade, by Corrine and Larry, and Mom, Dad and Mama stayed home to basically drink. Once they had finished off the beer they had they raided Corrine and Larry's refrigerator, and finished their beer. Love this story as Gramma was of course 9 mos pregnant, keeping up with a St Paddy's day celebration, and then in her words she drove home!
Can just picture them drinking in the kitchen on grove st!
Celebrating my sisters birthday on Tuesday with her, hope she will like my plans!
Enjoy the sun, as showers are arriving later!
Go Norfolk ST!
Go Lehigh!
Squatches do not exist! I have seen NO PROOF after two seasons of BoBo...
HEY!!! This is crucial. Fantasy starts a week from Wed. and we have only 6, that is six, countem, teams. What is going on?????? Mr. Commissioner, get on these people. We need at least 2 more I would think. Who is missing???????
I can have my friend Shawn and his son sign up for fantasy baseball, but I'll need an commish invitation again.
Jenna can you send me another invitation and then I'll forward him the email.
Great weekend! Great!
I'll try to remember to add more pictures to "the blob" when I get home today. It's been too nice outside to be cooped up around a computer.
Fantasy is at 7. Where is Austin? nc jnn? nc jll? good gary? adam? brother bob from mile high? Peyton from mile high? caroline needs a team. what about gg? promise her a lunch and she will be in. what about jimmy? How busy can you all be. Look at me. I find time and no body is busier than I am. What about Jake from the bar down the street? Lyman?
Wow! Someone needs a visit from the Decaf Fairy.
It was a beautiful day yesterday and I got a bunch of stuff done. Today is supposed to be even better. Enjoy it.
Car dropped off at dealer for service. Clubs and shoes in the loaner preparing for 10:30 tee time at Byrncliff. 2 cups of de-caf consumed. All is well in the Southtowns.
IS there still a spot in FBB? Eric wants to register but was denied. Can you resend the invite to me, pretty please?
Hope all is well! We are under severe pollen alerts here in Atlanta. High is over 500 and the reading yesterday was 9632. Lots of tree sex in the air.
What beautiful weather we are having!!! I am just afraid it will be a horrible summer! Oh well enjoy today! Celebrated my sister's birthday last night, took her and GG to dinner, and we had a very nice dinner! It was noted we need to do more often, us girls just go out, and we agreed to do it! She got gifts, dinner, wine, and daughter Jnna dropped off flowers and candy, to which Mr Fixxitt replied, that the birthday celebration had to come to end, as he did not do that much for her!
Will make sure the invite to HFFBB is resent, no one will be left behind, pinky swear!
K, if there is anyway you can send the pic of Chalie covered in stickers, GG would very much like to see...
enjoy the day
I thought that the Buttermakers were already rgistered to play in Fantasy. Mom said that she was part of last nite becuz she had invited AS to lunch and was therefore automatically included in anything that might be celebrated.Me, I am pooped. too much activity today. Back to work to rest up tomorrow.
Those pollen numbers seem a bit askew to past March numbers... I think I would need confirmation with some kind of a chart or maybe videos of kids wheezing to fully understand the severity.
Everyone is asking me if I've been out golfing yet... I'm embarrassed to say that I haven't even thought about it. BUT, I am getting excited about an early spawning period.
We need a fantasy draft. For real games start next week.
I hope I get "Three-Finger" Brown.
We had a wonderful time grilling yesterday and enjoying the beautiful weather. I can't believe I'm actually getting outside chores done in March.
Success in golf depends less on strength of body than upon strength of mind and character."

Tip of the day for all you weekend golfers, or weekday golfers
Bucky from "HillBilly Fishin' says, "you gotta grab by the bottom lip and don't let go, make sure ya got it tight."
That was his advise to his wife. I'm not sure what they were doing at the time.
Where is the sun??? That is disheartening!
A few things, yea to the Sabres!
Do we dare believe?
Joba, what is wrong with him?
busy day catching up on everything that has not been done!
enjoy family
Oh and its Miller time!
Good mornin'
Brrrrrrr... not used to this chilly awakening. I had to use the heat on my way to work [oh, and Maple Rd./ North Forest is getting a face-lift] forgot about that one this morning.
Ok, we have to concentrate on beating 17 blobs this year. So far we're falling behind.
We were doing good blob-wise until about a month ago. Anybody doing anything of note in the near future? We are heading to Hotlanta next week. That is a possibility. A photo-journalistic essay of all of the early blooms dying off as temps plunge back toward single digits? The ice-boom going back into the lake? Joba playing with his son? There are possibilities. Hope that AB got her office moved successfully. Enjoy the week
My brother had some great ideas, for Blogs! Easter would be the next blog worthy holiday! I could of course blog my phone conversations with HSBC off shore customer assistance, as I try to maneuver through there transition of my mothers accts to First Niagara. Todays conversation was that they could not change the mailing address of acct updates to my address without her permission on the phone, my comment was, I could empty her acct of all her money, but you can not update the address? Skippy did seem to see it my way.
Hopefully all teams for HFFBB will be in tonight, and we can complete the draft tomorrow
I love those blob ideas!
You can empty her acct but can't change an address? Yep, that makes sense that they have those guidelines.
Yea HFFBB!! Can't wait to start wheelin and a dealin
So I try to log into my HFFBB and apparently I was not invited. When I told the commish he had to check his invite list and would get back to me. I wonder if George Steinbrenner had this much stress during baseball season!
Is there another new set up to post a comment?
This is getting way to confusing!
So we are down to our last pt on the floor and one 1030. 1030 Hospital talk for a body in the morgue. That is all that is left at Gates.
The worst part of all is Tim Hortons is closed too!
Big tail gate party friday for staff only hosted by the Dr's, so if you are driving down Delaware Ave on Friday afternoon, you may see a great tent/tailgate party!
Keeping my fingers crossed for a Sabres win tonight!
Why can't poor nc jnn register for HFFBB? Why do we still have 7 teams? The season starts tomorrow AM during Mike and mike on ESPN radio. How will I function?
Was anyone up this morning for season's first pitch? Me neither.
Poor Jnna.
Ok, I apologize, I've been meaning to post some more pictures of GG's big day and I have no excuse other than I either forget to do it or I've been busy. I have a free evening tonight and I will do my best to remember.
Other than that, I'm wearing my hoody.
Always impressed by nphw jff. Besides working on the blog, he is never reluctant to become part of any and all social protests. Where does he find the time? You go guy!
What's happening with HFFB? Do we need another team? Jefferson can register if we do. us Atlantans are dying to get cracking at it!
someone send me the league information and i will register so we can get this show on the road!
Bengal 5k tomorrow...once again the weather looks spectacular. I am confident there will be a beer tent this time around.
Jll, why, oh why, have you started jogging and doing races??? I'm befuddled.
You've probably noticed the same "Blob" this morning, once again, sorry about that, busy, busy last night and I'll have no opportunity tonight or tomorrow (PA bound).
Why did Magic Johnson and his buddies pay 2 billion dollars for the Dodgers? I'm befuddled with that too... I can't wait to be fuddled, maybe tonight. But after the kids go to bed.
I sprung from bed this morning to check my mega millions numbers, only to find out that I'm NOT $640M richer. Sorry family. I was going to make it RAIN if I had won!
So I continued on with my day and came into work. Boy my boss is a meanie.
I would have had more satisfaction from taking the 20 dollar bill and setting it on fire. The only thing that made me feel better was reading that some pro athlete was buying 20 grand worth of tickets, but come to think about it, proportionally, it's about the same. Look at this weather. What a crummy spring we are having. Poor K forced to work on Sat.
Saying good bye to March and its snowing!
The paltry 10$ in MM tickets that I purchased, I am sure pales in comparison to others. Sorry family that I did not win, as with my winnings I would have bought a really good pirate gift!
So I have moved into my new office, 4th office in 4 years.mmmm I wonder what that means?
The goal today is that HFFBB is complete today!
Not sure what my other goals are?
Shovel? maybe
We have an even number of teams. Let the draft begin!!!!!!!
Per the comish, auto draft will commence soon.
So excited!
Couldn't resist being the 100th comment, even before I checked the draft. This is so exciting. Hope that the day gets brighter for the pre-birthday celebration for AB. Enjoy today and the real day tomorrow.
So we have reached the 100th comment on April fools day, we have not had a 100 comment blog in years! Congrats family!
So I was born in 56, and I will be 56, is there any significance in that? Just wondering!
The biggest April fools is this weather ugh to drizzle
Birthday dinner at cookies, so looking forward to that!
Congrats to daughter jnna, finishes up her bachelors and graduates in June! So proud of her perserverance! Success comes to those that never give up!
Trying to think of something fun and memorable to do on my birthday any suggestions?
I am sure that mom would suggest a birthday lunch for tomorrow as the ultimate fun thing to do. Way to go nc jnn. cause for a grad party? Checked my fantasy roster and I am guessing that with my usual bball luck, Josh Hamilton will be at Betty Ford by May 1. Not getting any brighter out there. Looking forward to Hotlanta on tuesday and the Chattanooga Lookouts on friday
Gooood morning and Happy April, seems like there was so much going on over the weekend. No one won the Mega Millions (I guess you have to play to win), sorry family, I'm sure I could have mustered up some heavy duty begging if one of you won.
Zachary is very excited about his fantasy pitching staff and I'm excited about this being a short work week. Zach and I are off to Syracuse on Thursday to welcome in the see minor league baseball season and watch Bryce Harper play.
Happy Birthday to my Amazing Mother!!!
