Momentary Relief From The Most Horrible Winter EVER !
We had only been in Florida for a few brief moments when we encountered this bad boy and four of his friends. We took this as a warning and vowed not to run over any of his pals or the pythons and panthers that also inhabit Alligator Alley
The fearsome drive proved worthwhile when, at last, we arrived in more hospitable territory. Finally, sand in our toes and a drink in our hands.
Look who we found. Friendly faces and a warm welcome. This was our first attempt at a "selfie". What do you think?
Of course, we had to do the baseball thing! Hammond Stadium in Fort Meyers is home to the Minnesota twins and they got pounded by Tampa Bay. Beautiful night for baseball.
Joe Mauer playing first and, of course, a Molina.
Suddenly there was a disturbance as people started recognizing this guy and asking for his autograph. Turns out that it was none other than the famous George Toma. Just in case his name doesn't ring a bell, he's the guy who has prepared the fields for all the super bowls and he worked on Offerman Stadium field. He is also in the football Hall of Fame and quite the character.
While cruising Naples Harbor, we spotted this decadent. ostentatious baby named "I Got This". Apparently the owner has abandoned ship and is a reported drug dealer. So, who are those people on board?
We said a reluctant good-bye to the sunny south and vowed to return next year for Patti's Birthday, so says Patti.
PS Would you travel with this man?

That was a most enjoyable trip to the sunshine state! Loved the selfie! You guys are so cutting edge! Thanks for sharing!
Unkie, the yellow shirt brings out your eyes. Well the day we all knew would happen is here, rest in peace to our leader, Ralph Wilson. Thanks for all the memories! Too bad that we can't pool our money and buy the team. Nonetheless a sad day in buffalo.
can't believe that my devoted wife added that last pic in the blog against my wishes. Auntie is winging her way to Atlanta this AM to see the Holtz-Twombley clan with a proposed baseball trip in the offing for K+E. I am left behind to enjoy the snow on this, day 134 of what appears to be our neverending winter. I personally don't believe the forecast of 60 by Monday. Enjoy. Too bad about Ralph. Mom just outlived another one.
Talked to Mom and it looks as though she is up for a trip to Athena's for a late lunch/early supper. I offered fish. She says she can't eat it because of her gallstones. I said that he could get the fish broiled but she would have none of that. Looks like grilled chicken sandwich number 2,346. Good reports from Atlanta. Everyone went to bed last night in good order and slept through the nite, much to nana's joy. At least it isn't snowing but with it in the forecast I am declaring this day #136. Enjoy the weekend.
Awesome Blob!! I love it.
Spent an hour and a half trying to free my driveway from 8" of heavy wet snow so the guy from Capital heat can get in to see why my furnace isn't working. Other than that the day has been pretty much perfect so far. Maybe I'll go tailgating in honor of Ralph and pick a fight and get beat up.
The furnace is dead? Ugh...
Opening day of baseball. It should be a holiday. I'll enjoy tonight but opening day to me means Cincy first pitch. Sorry, I'm old school.
Ok, my bracket just crashed with the MSU loss.
Trying to figure out all of the new wrinkles on the fantasy baseball page. starting the season vs. nphw zck will be tough. The furnace repair guy "fixed it" for all of about 30minutes. No heat last nite. Thank goodness for the fireplace to keep it about 60. They promised to bring the necessary part today. We are hopeful. At least the tv works and I am not (working that is) so I will be there for first pitch. I am with jff. first pitch of the season should be in cinci not melbourne or on a sunday nite in calif. So this is actually the 3rd opening day?
The more I look at the blog, I am thinking the color yellow does not do anything for unkie, I think he is more a jewel tone, type of guy? so say all? How about that snow storm on saturday? Jnna and I went out for a burger, left the burger place in a sleet storm and crawled home in a blizzard, its official I am done with winter! I got a glimpse of the official white house response to anastasia's letter, and that looks like an official barack obama signature??? Even though the white house response reflected on the govt shut down, not really anything to do with her initial letter, she was thrilled just the same! She is becoming quite the social activist in her old age! Looking forware to opening day, I agree with Jff, should be a holiday!
enjoy the warmer weather coming our way!
Baseball, baseball, baseball. Can there be too much?
I asked Sandra to pinch me and she left the house for a 90 minute walk with the dog.
I'm so happy I'm watching Miami/ Colorada... I missed baseball.
Sorry about your furnace. At least it didn't break down in February.
That is quite a picture of my father. Looks like you had fun though!
love opening day. it was warm here in the ATL -- everyone is welcome! Miss you guys.
Attended an opening day celebration at the OP holtzes complete with hot dogs, peanuts, cracker jacks and beer. Saw the world champion red socks lose a heartbreaker to the hated Orioles. All kidding aside, that, the Am. East is going to be one brutal division this year. Standing ovation for Ryan Braun? Wasn't Ted Bundy from Milwaukee too? Did he get a S.O.? Nah, that's a bad comparison, even for me, but seriously, a S.O.? As one enlightned Mil. fan said, "it's for his honesty". His honesty??? Wait until he gets to Boston. We will see about a S.O. there. One day into fantasy and I am getting killed by nphw zck, as usual. The lad is my kryptonite. Want to go to the Bisons opener but now the forecast is back to forty and showers. Down to 3" of snow in the yard so I am declaring this day #140.
I appreciate my brothers roll call of # of days of snow! Love the opening day party! enjoy today!
I was a little perplexed on the standing ovation too. Incredible. I keep hearing you have to keep ped's out of baseball and then a pathological liar gets a SO.
And a super big HB to my little sister on her special day. Those of us in our 70's salute those of you still in your 50's. Hope you have some great plans to celebrate.
Day 2 of my birthday celebration! Just enjoying not working! Had a very fun lunch with my Mom yesterday and she did reveal to me that she tried not to drink to much when she was pregnant with me, and for that I am eternally grateful! Had a wonderful birthday dinner at Carraba'sand I highly recommend the BlackBerry sangria! Off to opening day with the Koch boys this afternoon! As always on the receiving end of much more than I deserve! Can the Yankees really be 0-2?
Will be looking for you at the ballpark AB. Any chance that nphw jff might be available too? Meeting adm for lunch at Irish Times at 12:30 and will try to convince him to duck work. Keep the sun out and the breezes down. Can't believe that Auntie prefers stitching with her friends at Wegman's to opening day. So far my fantasy team has 4 yankees and I am looking for more. My only hope is to drag them down with me.
No Bisons for me today. I could of had my arm twisted to go... But no one was there to do it.
I hope you guys stayed warm.
I wish it was a bit warmer out.
I lasted 3 innings. It was not "basebll weather".
LOL, we lasted 3 innings too! It was very very cold! But so was the beer! Nice tribute to the snow plow drivers, and Byron Brown was shmoozing the crowd!
We were behind home plate, as Austin has always wanted to sit there! Have a great day!
Looked for but didn't see you guys. It was too cold to even drink beer, and I can't recall the last time that I said that. Byron did look fetching in his baseball uni top. Appears as though our early departure did not cause us to miss very much of the action. Enjoy your Friday.
You both have my admiration. I just couldn't do it. Too cold. I'm going to wait for a warmer day.
We had a really fun evening last night at Fat Bobs and the Founding Fathers. It was a Good Friday night. I wish we had more Friday nights.
Since I am sitting and watching it snow I am going out on a limb and declare this day #144 of winter. I don't think that I will drive to Rochester to see the Bisons play today. I don't think that I will try to do any yard work today. What other options are there? There is final four later and Batman at 7. That's about it for me today.
Sandra said you can grade some papers while watching Batman.
It was so nice out yesterday that I was almost ready to declare the official end of winter, but not quite yet. If we can get past this weekend, then maybe, but until....Did get some yard work done and had a little time to watch my beloved Yankees with their (my fantasy) mostly Japanese pitching staff. Got hammered in fantasy by zck as predicted. I have some real holes in my lineup but I am not sure that they are fixable. We will see. A work Monday for me and there haven't been too many of them. Vacation is coming tho. Enjoy our Monday: remember that we spend 1/7 of our lives on Monday so make the best of it.
1/7th of our lives? really? interestin! so kind of a whirlwind weekend! Met my sister and cousin Cathy out for breakfast on Saturday, I really think as a family we should meet out for breakfast on a routine basis? Thoughts? Maybe the waffle house in Buckhead next weekend, who is up for that??
so I did not take my mother to the protest at the Bishop's house yesterday, even though she was totally up for it! The Sabres, can that season not end soon enough! Got our invite to Ms Emma's confirmation, very excited for that! Cookie hosted a birthday dinner for me on Saturday, which was very yummy! Steaks on the grill and we made the BlackBerry Sangria from Carrabba's, recipe on line! Very enjoyable! Not as enjoyable as Christmas egg nog, but a close second! Have an extremely busy work week, and I am already thinking about the weekend, weather is suppose to be extra special! RIP Mickey Rooney! I sense a Turner Classic Marathon of Andy Hardy Movies!
Get through it as best as you can!
Rain, rain, rain.. Is this really better than snow? I guess it depends on what month it's snowing.
"My beloved Yankees". I can't believe Unckie wrote that. Next we' ll probably read he's taking Auntie to live In New York City so he can be closer to Yankee Stadium.
Sandra s away on a girls weekend inCanada. I miss her. Sigh.
Hate to do this but I have to. Looking out the window at big wet snowflakes hence this becomes day # 146 of our you know what. Yes nphw jff, I am certainly loving our Yankees. My 2nd most favorite player Hearadashisan Kuroda won for me yesterday and my most favorite Yankee Matsukamikazeezaka Tanaka is going for me tomorrow. Of course I had Uconn as my national champ didn't you? It all started for them in Buffalo. I didn't see anyone with close connections to the Holtz family listed among the potential buyers for the Bills, or did I miss someone? Cousin John Jr. perhaps? Loved AB's bfst suggestion mostly because I love breakfast. Can't wait for Wed. and Fri. morning and Athenas. No yard work for me today.
My son just told me, "no", "I'm not doing that." Hmmmm... Oh yes we are.
what was the negative response too? Was it to root for the Red Sox, if so I am siding with Zach. Was it to ask your Mom and Dad to describe their day? If so I side with Zach. I can think of a litany of things I would say no to! I think we need more info before we pass judgement. I did say no to Grampa once, well actually many times, no follow up needed! Zach, do what your dad says!
LOL... That made me laugh.
Here's the backstory... Never mind. He got his way... No summer school elective class. His argument was compelling. He asked me about my grades, summers, blah, blah, blah... These kids now a days.
Anyway... Go Yanks!
My suggestion would be that whenever there was a difference of opinions in the Pilaf household that Mr. Fixxitt should be brought in as a mediator. There would be opportunity to revisit nphw jff's youthful days. No win for my man Tanaka last nite. Now if I can just get my favorite catcher Brian McCann off the schneid all would be well in my baseball world.
should Mr Fixxit's monaker be changed to Mr mediator?? As he is the voice of calm and reason! Or what about his lovely wife, her hair is never on fire! Any new baby news from the Wagner's?
My brother and I are meeting for breakfast who is in??
Why does my brother have so many Yankee's on his fantasy team? Seems like a cruel twist of faith, now doesnt it! can our snow day end at 146? thoughts? Are we free and clear? Hope every one is excited for the weekend!
Hmmm... Mr. Fixxit as moderator? I'm not sure I want to go that route. It might bring up some repressed feelings. We wouldn't want father to go into a Chatonic state.
Yanks over Boston... 3 to go.
Could we have a show of hands, which is worse, a blinding snowstorm or peasoup fog to drive into? And to make matters worse radar was on the 290.. Oh well its friday, thanks for that small victory! The Yankees won, and the Bills are moving to the Falls! Great news all the way around!
get through the next 8 as best you can!
I always thought that Jon Bon Jovi would be the ideal owner. Does MY team really have to resort to pine tarring the baseball to defeat the evil empire from Boston? I think not. I want to officially declare an end to this winter and then I look at the weather forecast for next Tuesday. 2 classes down and 5 more to go. I always looked to UG as a Jimmy Carter like statesman. You too? This has possibilities. Enjoy, remember that we spend 1/7 of our lives on Friday waiting for the weekend.
We just finished up a wonderful dinner, filet mignon, chicken, and potatoes off the grill. Enjoyable evening.
I'm not sure my father would leave any hostages overseas like Jimmy did. My dad would pull his American flag bandana tight and take those terrorists head on... Bare fist in just like John L. Sullivan.
Wow, just sat outside with a cup of coffee and Jerry Garcia. Very nice. I think we're turning the corner on the longest winter ever.
What a beautiful palm Sunday! Hope every one got a chance to enjoy!
Rain, rain... I thought we were going to miss this until tonight. Well, the weekend was awesome.
Hopefully Tuesday and Wednesday won't be too bad.
Unkie? Snow count?
well I hope that momentary blast of winter is over! brrr! Well here we are winding down from Holy week, hope everyone has reflected appropriately! Not to much to report out on! Happy belated birthday to ET! Hope you had a fabulous one in Hotlanta!
I am looking for some guidance from my family on an issue that arose last evening. My daughter and I had dinner at a lovely restaurant last night, and we were sitting there in the restaurant enjoying a glass of wine, when the gentleman at the table next to us passed gas! let me tell you, this was lethal! this section smelled like a backed up sewer! And it lingered!
I am asking what action should we have taken, other than gagging! I did take my linen napkin and wave it around like trying to shut off a smoke detector, but it did not do much. Any thoughts on how to handle a stinky situation are most welcome! i am one of the few people at work, so as you can see I am goofing off! Enjoy Holy Thursday!
I think the same thing happened to us last night... It just lingered. Smelled awful.
I'm not sure what you can do though. Let one go yourself and counteract his beastly smell?
I've got the day off today and tomorrow... So I'm enjoying life right now.
What about Monday, nephew???
Easter does encompass Dyngus Day also! Did everyone see the county executive pardoned the butter lamb! Kind of lame!
No, unfortunately I'll be working on Monday. I'm not going to be somebody's whipping boy... Sigh.
A solemn Good Friday to all! at work UGH, however, there litterally was 3 other cars on the road, oh and radar, radar, radar! so if anyone is going on the 190 or the 290, beware! drive safe, drive the speedlimit! So yesterday, my mother received her answer from the Bishop, as you are all well aware, Anastasia has been on a letter writting campaign to solve some of the injustices's in this world. I think it is heartwarming to become a social activist at 97! The Bishop's response to her letters, was pretty lame, and she is undaunted, her next address, Vatican City! Well I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
did everyone see the Yankee's triple play? And St Louis won, can we live vicariously through Ryan Miller??? Jenna is off today, she is taking gramma for fish... enjoy this day
Good Friday.
At home and trying to keep things in perspective (I'm not sure what that means). Unfortunately, my attention is grabbed by my guitar and I'm in the mood for some "Brown Eyed Girl".
We'll be going to the noon service today and then the Fixxits will be joining us for a fish fry at Mel's Crow Nest. Our first time there, I hope we'll like it.
Happy Easter fam.
I have gone to Happy Hour Retirement party there, food was good, FYI, it is cash only..
Happy Easter eve all! We are very excited at 431 as our table will be graced with the option holtz' s! Yes yes me too! So there will be an Easter egg hunt, and a cold beverage hunt for adults, I think that tradition has merit don't you? Find the cold beer bottle. Just a thought I will let you know how it goes. It will just be fun that's all I know! To everyone count your blessings!
The statement should read OP holtz' s not option, but mmm we do have 2 holtz families so maybe option is correct!
I kinda liked the option Holtzs.
Yep... I did not bring any cash, never do. They have a ATM. Strategically placed so everyone can see it, for the low low cost of 2.50. So I withdrew a million dollars. That way I don't even feel the sting of the two-fiddy transaction fee.
Happy Easter!
Hope everyone had a nice Easter! Our party at 431 took a nose dive, with the opting out of the OP Holtz's due to illness, felt very bad for everyone! Poor Ms Audrey and Adam! Hope they all feel better soon! And who says you have to have an egg hunt on easter sunday only anyway!
Very nice pict of my brother on FB! T/U K!
We did have a nice Easter brunch/lunch and left overs went home with all! Kind of wish I was off today as it looks like its going to be a nice day! Enjoy all!
heard from my mom, that my brother drove to Hotlanta, is that true? Cuz I am thinking that is not a pleasant drive! Had a few nice days of sunshine, and now rain, Oh well we will get through! thinking of cleaning my office and re organizing my desk, thoughts? Its kind of a mess, I have a habit of creating a new folder for a new sheet of paper, after awhile you run out of folders! Have a great day
Clean desks are incredibly over-rated. And if you're caught cleaning... It looks like you don't have enough work to do.
Off to see Martin Taylor tonight, Sir Martin Taylor.
Back in WNy after a 2,000 mile round trip drive. Trip down wasn't bad. Left in last Tues. snow and returned in today's fog. If it dares to snow tomorrow I will resume the winter days count. Had a nice time in Atlanta. Mercifully the weather finally cooperated on a beautiful Easter with the neighborhood egg hunt/party and most of the day spent by the pool. Drive home yesterday and today was much more challenging particularly since I started off in the wrong direction and wasted the first hour and a half. Talked to Mom and it seems that all was enjoyed at 431. Hoping that the OP holtz family is on the mend. They all looked rough on facetime on easter. Back to work for me tomorrow. The ride in will be a piece of cake after 5 days of atlanta traffic. Take care. Tomorrow is already hump day.
I have a feeling the Bills organization sure wishes Ralph Wilson were still alive. Ralph dies, Jim Kelly battles cancer, the team threatens to move, the Jill's file a lawsuit against the Bills, the Bills settle a $3.1 million texting settlement (I'm guessing the plaintiff is uncle gary), and now news that head coach was diagnosed from cancer, but the Bills remove from the team website? How much more can one team take? Isn't it bad enough we haven't made the playoffs this decade?
Emma is inducted into the National Junior Honor Society tomorrow! Woo Hoo!
and no snow for the morning drive this AM. Life is good. I don't see UG or me as ever being part of a lawsuit that involves texting, tweeting, instagrams or the like. If the town crier came down the street too often or too loudly, perhaps.
Town crier?
That guy owes me money.
Are the Jill's underpaid? I thought that position was voluntary? I'd pay someone $8 to root me on... I could use it.
Sandra said she'd do it for $10... I'm tempted.
Hey it's Friday before the last weekend in April. That has to be a good thing, right? Yankees are cheating again; we are all watching the Stanley cup games and the nfl draft is on the way. Any other big stories that I missed? Hope that nc emm got all NHS inducted. congratulations. There have not been too many in the family who have made it. Certainly not I. Enjoy the weekend all.
Yeah!!! I just felt like yelling. Oh wait, Zachary is 17 today. Happy Birthday Zachary!
We had a wonderful birthday dinner last night at Woodcock Brothers. It was nice also, catching up with Andrea. Aunt Betsy, Andrea says hi.
Happy birthday to Amy, too!
It's an A to Z birthday day! Happy birthday Amy and Zach! Hope you both have extra special birthdays!
Sunday? Where did Saturday go? At least it's not snowing, right Unckie?
I think today is a movie day... Under a blanket, popcorn, movie day.
Hey, that's right. 2 birthdays to celebrate yesterday. Hope that Zack had a great day. Did a bit of babysitting last nite so the OP holtzes could go to dinner. Couldn't believe that my lawn mower started this morning.I was ready to take it to the curb after last summer but I made the ceremonial exchanging of places in the garage so the snow season is officially (and I am keeping my fingers crossed on this one) over and the mowing season has begun. I don't think that I have ever gone so far into april without mowing. We will see how much longer this goes on. Enjoy the remainder of our sunday.
I probably should mow today... Considering we're supposed to get about 7 feet of rain this week.
How can I possibly enjoy my Monday, if in fact it is possible to enjoy a Monday, when I have to face nphw jff and his brewers in HFFBB this week. I can't imagine what unspeakable things await me. Usually my entire team goes on DL whenever we face.
What a whirlwind weekend! Lets recap! Hope everyone that had a birthday, had a great birthday! Amy and Zach! Jill is running in the Buffalo marathon, so she is looking for a cheering section at mile 18! so it is May 25th, if anyone would like to come cheer her on, I wll post more info! so had lunch with Gramma yesterday, she had another letter for the Bishop, she slept through the cannonzation, and she needed banana's. Thats about it.
So my daughter went to the YWCA fundraiser on Saturday, she said it was an awesome evening! And during the course of the evening they have different fundraisers, 50-50, basket raffles etc. One thing they do, is you purchase an egg with a number on it. And during the course of the night they draw numbers and for the people that have the "eggs" there are different prizes. So it gets to be to the end of the night, and the grand prize is left, and there are 2 numbers not called, one is #6, which is Jenna's number some other guys number, who's name is steve. This is the grand prize and last year it was 7200.00$So they call Jenna and steve up on stage and they are the last two. So Jenna says to steve, why dont we just split the prize? That way we both win. Steve says to Jenna, UMMM no way, let it ride! I will take my chances. In the end, #6 was called and steve walked away a loser! And Jenna funded her campaign for her senate race!
Enjoy Monday!
WOW!!! I can't believe that someone in our family actually won a meaningful prize of some sort. Way to go JNN! That sure put my Yankees jacket and arod jersey in distant second place. May 25 is a sunday and I am guessing that there will have to be a bar within reasonable distance of mile marker 18. Count me in. We should all volunteer to run part of the distance with nc jll. 26 family members at a mile each? I might be able to pace her for 10-15 feet of my mile. Other alternatives? May is filling up fast.
I'll keep Unckie company at that bar. Oh wait, I'll be down in Ohio enjoying music non-stop and beeeeeers of course.
Nice job Jenna, I never did like Steve.
The grand prize was $5,000 of which I have mentally spent $7,452.68. It was a great night and Steve walked away defeated! My mom also forgot to mention that I also won $255 in scratch off lottery tickets.
I told my sister that I will be at mile 6 with donuts and coffee. I'm so nice.
Wow!!! That is awesome. Congrats. Spend it wisely.
Holy crap! That is AWESOME!
I found a dollar in the dryer yesterday.
so had a most wonderful anniversary evening at the Woodcock Brewery! Lots of fun with everyone! Thanks for driving to Wilson all! bye bye April, have a great day everyone
Who drove to Wilson? What happened?
Was my mom supposed to tell me something?
Prom day here at the Mount so all of my seniors are off preparing for their big evening. Hope that the weather cooperates and gives them a good evening. Me? I can sleep in any weather. A belated Happy Anniversary to AB and UG. Sounds as if you had a good celebration.
I remember my prom. Ahhhhh... Who am I kidding?
Emma had her Confirmation banquet last night AND it was just lovely.
Sundays the big day.
Why does Unckie cry "whoa is me" then he takes me out the woodshed to give me a good ol' fashion whooping?
In HFFBB I am just holding on by my fingernails and I fully expect only the worse to happen today and tomorrow and I will wind up losing 2-10. I only thing more dismal than my fate against the Pilafs is the weather. Enuf said on that topic. The question is, should I make a trip to OTB and waste some money on the Derby. I do confess an attachment to the owners of California Chrome, 2 old dudes who used their retirement $$ to buy a horse. Gotta love that.
Happy Monday! I actually had to scrape my windshield this morning!
Great Party for Ms Emma yesterday! I hope she enjoyed it as much as I did! Congrats Emma!
So nice to see everyone!
shout out to "cousin" Eric, for hiring austin, as the main fuel guy for Tops! Thank you!!
Other than that, its a busy work week! Enjoy
Echoing my sister's sentiments about yesterday. Hard to believe that it had been going on 3 months since we had a chance to get together. Meeting Don and Bonnie tonite for a "cinco" celebration. $2 coronas and food specials. Can't go wrong. Haven't seen them since the blog post so we will have to get caught up. Mowing season in full force and looks like some decent weather temp. wise this week so enjoy. Hopefully no more scraping Auntie B.
It was a really nice day yesterday. She had fun and happy to see so many people. On Emma's behalf, thank you one and all.
Decent day that started the lawn mowing season.
Yeah!!! Sandra's going to see the Dead Winter Carpenters with me tonight. Yeah Sandra!
What a great day. I just worked in the morning and then went to Lowes to load up on mulch and top soil... Mission accomplished.
Happy thursday! so I have been very busy at work, sorry to be so neglectful! so Austin starts his new job as the Tops Fuel guy today! Again thanks to cousin Eric! nepotism is a beautiful thing! Great Yankee Game last night, all you had to do was watch the first inning! Great for west coast games! The Vatican has ans St Francis's appeal, more to come on that! Lets see if Anastasia's letter writting campaign made a difference! Thinking of my amazing niece today, who has a birthday tomorrow, still remember the day she was born! K- have such a special day tomorrow, you will long remember it! Your birthday card is still sitting on the dining room table, please know because I slow to mail, not slow to think about you! Hope everyone has a great weekend, is it too early to talk about the weekend?
Figured that I would take a brief time out from the draft to catch up on things. For a 1st and a 4th this guy Watkins had better be special, especially since there are already so many "special" receivers on the team. They just drafted a giant tackle who looks like he has only been in the country a very short time. Had Mom to the Dome for dinner and the review is in: when it comes to grilled chicken sandwiches there is no place like Athena's. $2 drafts but 2.25 for diet cokes. What's the message here? Happy BDay K. Just a mere 42 years ago. Wow! Happy Mom's day in advance to all of our great Moms out there. Enjoy your day beginning tomorrow.
Friday!!!
Sandra and I are off to Woodcocks again tonight. Enjoy this summer weather.
Happy Mothers Day!
Finally a day yesterday that could really be enjoyed. Great to just sit outside and enjoy the sun. Unfortunately Mondays tend to follow sundays so it's back to work.
So hard to do Monday after such a fabulous Sunday! Had a wonderful MDWeekend! On saturday cousin cathy hosted a brunch with her family, cousin Lori, and others that was just so nice! Had anastasia over on Sunday for Chicken, such a nice day!
Just a great day to celebrate out families!
Enjoy this week!
And now it's Tuesday... Beautiful. I'm outside, drinking, and enjoying.. Could it be any nicer out?
Advanced placement exam for the girls was yesterday and they are all relieved, as am I. 3 more class days for the seniors and they are behaving as all seniors do when the finish line is in sight. Can the Yankees keep on playing the Mets? Oh yes, they are playing again tonite. I have to root for them since my man Tanaka is on the mound. Go Kamikaze!!
so how is everyone? I saw the mothers day pict of our OP Holtz's in the falls, so that was so nice to see! Kind of a foggy day today, sure beats other alternatives! So we finally got our grill going yesterday and did our first of the season hot dogs! taste so good! Still busy at work, and they are using the "L" word more and more! "layoff", so if unemployment is 2 years, I could be unemployed til I am 60, and then find some menial, non demanding job for two years, and then retire??? the only flaw in this plan is that pesky pesky health insurance! time will tell, I quess! Geo's family is having a reunion in august, anyone interested in going? Its in NT.
Then dont forget our destination Holtzapalooza in 2016. what are the plans for all this summer? anything, anything? Oh well, gotta get back to work!
Enjoy today and all that it brings?
K are you coming home this summer at all?
Helloooooo!
2016 Holtzapalooza? I can't wait that long. Big party at my parents house let's go! Come on!
Go Yankees! That's it...
so whats going on?? i hear Sandra made lasagna, that sounded good!
its raining, not so good.
the Yankees won, even better
redsux lost, even better than better!
I am pretty sure everyone is aware of BlueforBen, so turn your lights on tonight at 6PM.
Holtzapalooza 2016! Destination Vacation! I am still tallying votes to see where we are going, and NT still is lagging way behind, so remember family, vote early vote often! for your choice of Holtzapalooza 2016!
Rainy weekend in store, so what is everyone doing, anything fun?
I will definately be a clock watcher today!!!
my last Friday of classes for the year so color me excited. Got my lawn cut yesterday so by the time it dries out it will be time to cut it again. I thought that the votes for 2016 were in with that spot in W.Va leading the way? Should I waste more money betting on the Preakness tomorrow? Probably I will. Looks like it is starting to clear a bit. Looks like some babysitting tomorrow ast the OP Holtzes celebrate anniversary #9. Take care all
Happy Number 9, A&A!!! gramma told me the first 50 years are the hardest than after that marriage is a piece of cake! so only 41 more to go, of compromise, give and take, etc etc
Enjoy your day, I will raise a glass to the best part of the family that has re located home with the last year!
Bro- voting continues as my B-I-L states that Mayors Park in NT is an excellant site, and if given enough time he can push that vote tally up!
Jff and I agreed on W Va, just waiting for the majority to vote it in! Gramma keeps voting, only she is voting to have it while she is still alive!
Happy Anniversary AH2 (squared)!
If we can't decide on a destination... Does it default to Mayors Park in NT? Maybe we should reserve our name on the only shelter there just in case.
Emma's at Darien Lake today with her orchestra and the rest of the Rices are going to the Hamburg Music Festival today.
Enjoy the weekend,
Sandra and I went on a mummy date at the Science Museum today. Very cool. I recommend it.
So, I'm sitting here ( wishing it was either warmer outside OR that I have tomorrow off from work). I don't mind which... I'm just sayin'.
double ugh to Monday! Kind of a cool weekend, but a weekend none the less. Now next weekend, we have memorial day, we have Jill running in the Buffalo Marathon, and I have agreed to have my brother over on Monday, for hamburgers. So this week will be spent thinking of next weekend!
this weekend, we celebrated Austin's birthday with pizza, and a birthday cake.
Had anastasia over for roast beef on Sunday, did yard work and bought a new flag, and that is about it!
Oh and the Mega Million Lotter is 114 Million on Wed, at which time my mother has given me 6$ for tickets, and she has announced if she wins, we all get a million!
good to know
Get through it as best as you can!
Just returned from the south davis elementary art show and ice cream social. I truly believe Oliver has a future as an Egyptologist based upon his hieroglyphics project. Now those are two terms that I don't believe have ever appeared in the same paragraph in the family blog, and these are right on top of nphw jff's road trip. A theme here?? Maybe palooza 2016 should involve a trip to the middle east? No, me neither. Heard that GG had Austin pump the gas for her. That poor kid. Whose idea was that, as if I didn't know. I was off today and maybe a bisons game is in order since I am off tomorrow. Got a great note from nc emma. Thank you. Is the official start of summer this weekend? It had better get more summer like real quick, but I did make it through the weekend without shoveling. enjoy tuesday.
Helloooooooo... What a great evening. I drank beer, grilled ribs and then... Wait for it... Had another beer. Life is good.
I am thinking we should officially close winter? I believe the last snow day tally was 168, thousand days of snow? At least it felt like that! FYI, to get you gas pumped for you, you need the handicapped hanger, so if you are so inclined pick up gramma, use her hanger, and buy gas!
So St Louis is not resigning Ryan Miller.
Jerry Jones thinks the bills need to increase their fan base, and so far the highest bidder is the Rogers Family from Toronto. Unless of course my mother wins PowerBall tomorrow, and then maybe she will buy the bills?
enjoy tuesday, its spaghetti and meatball day at 431!
We love spaghetti and meatballs!
I put a bid in on the Bills, but I'm not holding my breath... My offer was $125 up front and then 100 billion when I turn 97. Ya never know.
Is it raining out... Again?
Last day of classes for me and my seniors so I am up and heading to Athena's for my big breakfast to carry me thru the day, and yes, I am testing today, much to their dismay. So sunday looks like a great day to watch someone else run a marathon. I have my big foam finger and cooler of beverages ready to go and root on the runners. Where is milepost 18 so we can get there early? Actually, Don and Bonnie Wagner's daughter Shelley is running as is her husband so that will give us at least 3 to look for. Any others?
? Was that offer of 125$ all cash? I sometimes watch this show called Million Dollar listing, NYC. And that is the first question the brokers ask, is this an all cash offer? And the property is always over a million, so I had to ask nephew, is it all cash???Did everyone hear the interview with that clown Jerry Jones! PUKE!
Other than that, its Wed, and everyone who is anyone at work is on vacation, so needless to say, I have kind of been a slacker!
Enjoy today and all that it brings your way!
No, not hard cash.... I'm hoping I can trade in my 2000 Dodge Caravan with rust. I'm still not willing to part with my Gratzky rookie card.
Yeah Thursday , two daze until thè long weekend.
I like the fact that my weekend begins today. The down side is that I have to find something productive to do. I think that Auntie has some yard work in mind. Golf is lined up but not until monday. Hang in there all.
I wish my weekend started today! I have to wait til tomorrow! weather looks to be stupendous, so who ever has what to do, enjoy doing it!
Still on the fence about joining the COT garden walk? Did loose quite a few flowers over the winter, and my sister is a year older, not sure if I will get sun up to sundown back breaking work out of her again this year? But we will see I have til June 1st to decide. Great extra inning Yankee game at Wrigley yesterday. going to Wrigley is at the top of my must do list. Hey maybe Holtzapalooza 2016 could be held at Wrigley?? I have to remind you people, Mayor's Park is coming on strong, and along with that is brunch at Deerwood. So remember to vote early, vote often! Love that line!
Quess Andy did not know our councilwoman was available to be the next Lt Gov.
Get through the next 7.5 as best as you can!
I want my weekend to start too. Ugh, one more work day... I'll do my best. We have both sets of parents coming over on Sunday. Weather looks to be gorgeous.
Don't forget to hug veteran.
So am I the only one who is upset that Corey Lundin got let go from Dual Survivor?? Travesty of justice! today is the last day of slacking as everyone who is everyone will return to their desks next week!
Looking forward to cheering my youngest on as she tackles the ultimate challenge! The Buffalo Marathon!! Everyone, keep her in your prayers that she crosses the finish line, not worse for wear!
Show of hands, who should own the Bills? Tom ( I am only here to make more money) Golisano, or Jon ( lets back the bus up and move North to TO) Bon Jovi??
Have a great day, and ejoy!
And remember to fly the stars and stripes proudly!
Just got the flag hung up out front and have the frostbite to prove it. Tempted to restart my count of winter days since it is really not nice out but will resist the temptation. They keep saying that better weather is coming. Think that I will go mulch. In a battle with AB this week in HFFBB. Things don't get any easier from week to week. Out of the Pilaf frying pan into the 431 fire. Enjoy the weekend all!
Good luck Jll. Have fun.
We wish we could root you on. My responsibilities will be making sure our meat is cooked through, not burnt on the grill.
I'll run a lap around my yard (with a beer in hand) in honor of you.
another holiday weekend bites the dust. I did play golf but that was my only accomplishment of note. looks like everyone else had a much more productive and satisfying weekend. good for you all. short week for everyone. enjoy it.
Some shorter than others... I only work tomorrow and Wednesday then I'm off to Ohio.
I'm looking forward to a 4 day beer/ music binge.
Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend! we had a nice picnic yesterday, weather was beautiful, and the burgers were cooked just right on the grill!
sunday was spent at the Buffalo Marathon, that was a lot of fun! Of course all we did was stand and cheer! cookie finished in 4 hours, and was pretty much none the worse for wear, except and I am quoting her " she had a few toe nails floating around in her sneakers". We were in Niagara Sq waiting for her to come in, and we were standing by some pretty seasoned Marathon spectators, who cheered for our daughter just as loud as we did, and he commented that she looked great!, so congratulations daughter!
Got great pix of the Atlanta gang, thank you thank you thank you!
Other than that, back to work!
this weeks goals, my cell phone died, so I quess I have to replace it, and am car shopping.
thoughts?
Its Tuesday, make it a splendid one!
Sandra had to look up Jill's time... She asked me if I could run the race in 4 hours. I said, "Sandra, I can't even sit for 4 hours". "You want me to run?"
So congrats Jill! That is truly awesome and something to be proud off.
Nice job Jill...proud of you!
In life, people inspire you. Let me tell you, be a spectator at a marathon, holding a donut and you will be inspired. Very proud of my sister. That's all I got!
Back in my coaching days, and that was a very long time ago, I always had the greatest admiration for the runners and the swimmers. In my view there was absolutely nothing "fun" about either of those activities. No balls to play with, nothing. I never saw a picture of a long distance runner or swimmer smiling. Nc jll, the biggest of congrats to you. Talk about focus. We need a marathon blog!!!
Yes, yes, a marathon blob. It's time.
Last day of work for a while, I'm off to hotbed Nelsonville, Ohio to enjoy homegrown music.
Yes, nc jnn, the ball is in your court. you must have some pix from sunday. need a marathon blog. And what's with nphw jff having more time off than me!!!This calls for an investigation.
I will encourage my daughter to create a marathon blob, as she does have some great pictures!
However, the politician is extremely busy, with a hot bed of activity brewing in the COT! but I will encourage none the less, I would definately like to see that!
Bills Stadium in West Seneca???
Moving closer and closer to my brother! Just a heads up, I sent out an email to my nephew and his lovely wife this morning, looking to put some wheels in motion, more to come on that!
Again Holtzapalooza 2016! I know it is a little early to take a headcount, but thoughts? Would families will be willing to travel to celebrate everything that is " HOLTZ"?
Gramma has commisioned an engraving of PVT First Class Charles F Holtz 's name to be put on the wall at Vets Park, FYI
Other than that, its Thursday, Texeira is hurt, and Jeter is still 40, enjoy the day and all that it brings!
I'm back from Nelsonville, Ohio. The weather was close tp perfect, though it could of been a little warmer at night. Brrrr... Thank goodness we had an lecturing camping site and we could put the heater on. I guess we were spoiled.
Enjoy your week everyone.
