As we all gear up for important milestones this year, we must pause and recognize we wouldn't be able to reach those milestones without the leader of our trip our great-grandpa, Gramps, and father, Charles F. Holtz. Sr. We will get together in March to raise a glass, share a laugh, possibly shed a tear for one of the reasons we are all here. Happy Birthday, Gramps!

1 – 200 of 310 Newer› Newest»A great big shout out to nc jnn for taking the time and trouble to come up with a new post. So much appreciated and time saving since me and my sister will no longer have to navigate through over two hundred comments to get to the latest. Hoping that everyone had a day off and found a way to enjoy it. Do take care all.
Happy Tuesday! I hope everyone that was entitled to a day off yesterday enjoyed it!
Still in our cold snap, but they are saying this weekend we should get a reprieve!
Timing in life is everything, whether its a job interview, who you meet, luck, etc, timing is just everything! Today I experienced very poor timing on my part by not replacing my windshield wiper blades timely! Driving blind is never a good idea!
But after my morning meeting, I stopped at NAPA and got new blades, so at least that is resolved. And again timing is everything!
I hope my brother is enjoying his time away from the snow and cold!
Other than that...
So show of hands, do we all agree Marcell Darious was not given a chance as a Buffalo Bill????
I would 96 million was enough motivation to show up, wouldn't you?
Other than that, I am already sick of winter!
Go Minnesota!
Happy Wed! I think today was one of the worst driving days ever! Light and fluffy snow that was totally deceiving, very slippery, and sloppy drive this morning!
UGH to winter, and we have so much farther to go!
So yesterday there was a poll in the buffalo news, who do you have more? Bill Belicheck, Doug Marrone or hate them both equally?
Billy Belicheck won hands down, FYI
So tonight we have a warrior walk meeting to gear up for our summer walks, those were so much fun last year!
The city is hiring a new clerk, so that interviewing process is currently going on.
George went to the ortho dr about his knee, ongoing, he is now looking at new replacement in June. more to come on that
Other than that, same ole same ole routine and information
Its still snowing, its still cold, the Sabres play tonight
No one good to root for in the super bowl
Other than that waiting for the spring!
Enjoy this day and everything it brings your way!
So the phone rang here this AM at 7 and it was junior attempting to get to work, apparently without much success and he was looking to talk to someone while stuck in traffic so apparently he went thru the same thing as many this AM. Schools were closed here for no reason whatsoever and, amazingly, close again tomorrow for what can best be described as a 'cold morning" in the offing. Best story came from K who was closed today, and will be closed again tomorrow and to make it worse, she was at the liquor store attempting to get fortifications, only to find that closed too, Talk about the social fabric falling apart. We went to the movies and saw the Great Showman that was surprisingly good. Went to our local beach bar for steamed shrimp, beer and margaritas so i am not complaining. I vote anti-Belichek too. Otherwise, not too much else new here. Sorry to hear about Ug AND his upcoming knee replacement. take care all
Poor number 1 son! Yesterday was the worst driving day ever! And today, not much better! So if the govt shuts down tomorrow and the liquor stores are stilled closed, how will Atlanta cope? There truly is only so much the human spirit can endure!
So the everetts are sneaking away this weekend for an overnight. It seems this never ending cold, the inability to take the twins out of 94 LoraLee, 5:30AM wake up times, have taken a toll.
So lets keep our fingers crossed that all care givers stay healthy this weekend and can afford the toddler parents a 36 hour reprieve! So that's me, Georgie and Jenna!
Sounds like my brother and SIL are living the good life down south! Enjoy!
Looks like the snow stretches quite far south, as Nephew Rick was stating that he had to " sweep" the snow out of his driveway!
431 Adam street, is going to have to throw one heck of a summer soiree, to pay everyone back that has snow blowed our side walk and drive way the past couple of weeks! WE all get by with a little help from our friends!
Here's to the kids returning to school, liquor stores reopening, free flowing traffic and the govt finding its way to stay solvent!
Enjoy this day and every day!
So K was feeling "sassy" about getting her brood back to school today until about 7 last nite when a shriek of anguish came thru a text to us announcing that yes, Atlanta schools were closing yet again. I don't know for sure, but only hope, that the liquor store reopened. I did suggest to K that relocation to Wny should be considered where the schools generally stay open. Honestly, I have never seen anything like it down here. The Mobile Ala TV station interviewed the local DPW and how proud they were that they were ready for "anything". The preparedness consisted of 6 dump trucks and a pile of sand. Suffice to say that traffic was dead stopped on Wed. AM on I-10 for 2 hours as they attempted to throw sand on black ice. Salt? Not cost effective apparently. Hopefully the crisis is over, at least for the time being. Sounds like improving condidtions at home too. did get out to play some golf yesterday as the temp "soared" to 44. Looks like a road trip is in order for today to Biloxi, Ms and some shopping and casinos--about an hour away. Good luck on the babysitiing gig this weekend. Any word on nc jnns book? Enjoy
Happy Friday! Debating if we should go get a fish fry for dinner? I have never been to the broadway hotel for a fish fry, maybe we will try that tonight?
It did turn out to be a nice day here, above 20 degrees with sunshine!
So that was very welcome!
So Atlanta has the kids safety at heart, and are keeping everyone home during this winter deluge!
Still no sign of Fire and Fury, not sure what the hold up is with this publication?
With the government shutdown looming, maybe the shithole country that is printing it will pick up the pace?
Enjoy today!
so a word of caution. My garmin said 72 miles to Biloxi but apparently that is "as the crow flies" and that didn't account for having to drive around Mobile Bay and the actual mileage wound up being more like 140 miles. Good road trip altho more driving than anticipated. Found the new MGM ballpark, home of the Shuckers, and a few shopping destinations for auntie, who also made a few bucks at the Boomtown Casino while I contributed a few bucks. Looks like 60+ today so that is an improvement. Looks like a thaw in WNY. Talked to K and she said that each day they announce the schools are closed the girls break down in tears. Sounds like when I was a kid. Hopefully next week will have fewer tears. Come on Fire and Fury. I need a book review. Enjoy
As far as Monday's go, I think this fits right in with a typical bleak Monday!
It is a gray rainy day.
The Sabres are laughable.
The despicable NEP made the super bowl once again, and in a come from behind fashion.
the Govt has shut down.
And the list goes on and on.
On the plus side, Jenna, Geo and I did survive the twins while Mom and Dad took a quick trip to the finger lakes
Or probably better the twins survived us! It was a very fun weekend, as the twins change hourly, and Ms Gwenn has definitely stepped up her game of ruling the roost, while thoughtful Mr. Henry is pretty content to let her have her own way, UNTIL he doesn't ! They are a lot of fun however, and just warm your heart!
So there is an ask from daughter Jenna, that the glass raising for Charles happen on Thursday March 1st, if that is possible?
She is going out of town on Friday for the weekend, and she is asking that we move it to Thursday or after? Thoughts from everyone? Or at least my brother?
Enjoy today and all that it brings!
I think that when the discussion of the 100th first came up there was a concern about friday and as a result my understanding that we would do "the eve" on thursday at the old Double D on Main St. My only question is, do they serve food? Can you find out? I suppose that we could meet there for a ceremonial drink or two and then go somewhere else to eat. We are good with whatever. Glad to hear that all went well with the babysitting gig. We sat and got depressed watching NE win yet again. Last few days have finally been in the 70's, something that we were wondering if we were ever going to see. Month is winding down and it will be soon time to head back north. Take care all
Happy Tuesday, and hip hip hooray to a Sabres win!!!
And the govt is back up and running!
It is truly a red letter day for the building and load!
So the old Double D is I believe the Dome today? On Main street in Tonawanda?
If that is what you are referencing, then yes they do serve food, infact they are my favorite fish fry! However my sister and her husband hate their food!
So ... another thing... jenna and I signed up for a cooking class, and we have a class on March 1st, from 6-8.
So maybe just maybe we could look at alternative date? What are everyones thoughts?
Sorry you are almost heading home, and the temp hits 70!
Enjoy today!
Happy Wed!
And another Sabres win!
I think my brother needs to stay down south longer!
So lets see what is happening in our world
Not much, snow is back
Had a board workshop last night, and we are working on a board evaluation tool.
Yawn Yawn Yawn, that was impossible to try and stay awake during a 2 hour meeting til 8:30 , and that was PM!
Other than that, January is almost over!
We are looking at celebrating Charles's 100th birthday!
What a cranky 100 year old he would have been!
Other than that, thinking about going back to Rome in 2019
Traveling, planning on traveling, researching traveling, saving for traveling, all make your life so much more exciting and worth getting up in the morning for!
Of course, my brother states, with so many places to visit and see, why go to the same place twice! good point
Note to all, just go somewhere!
Enjoy today and all that it brings!
Glad to hear that my sister is in the process of making more travel plans. Mom loved to travel and sadly never got the chance to do much until very late in life, but I think that gene got passed on to at least 3 of her kids. Speaking of plans, what do you think would be the best day to do the get together? YOur schedule sis is way more complicated so pick a nite in the vicinity of 3/2 that works best. Auntie and I probably won't have a problem and usually Sue is pretty good given notice. Following Friday? previous wed? another? Things are winding down on the Gulf coast. Now it becomes a matter of watching the weather forecasts between here and there and trying to figure relatively calm travel days. Went to Mobile yesterday for a lunch, a little shopping and a stop over to watch the practice for the Senior Bowl this sat. Pretty cool actually, wide open, no cost of any kind, just walk in, walk around the field and watch the workouts. Looking for the Bills Brass but didn't see them. Temps staying in low 60's so not too bad. Looks as if the Atlanta kids are back in school, K is in Phil. for some work thing, so the texting has been quiet. Think about the March date and see what works. Try to stay awake at those Board meetings. I admire you for all of the time you give so graciously.
Happy January 25th!
Wishing my brother in law a most happy happy birthday!
I hope you have a wonderful day, Mr Fixxitt!
The news around WNY is, Chick Fil a is expanding!
And according to the buffalo news our next quarterback is right under our nose!
Other than that, not much else is going on!
Very cold today, but at least the sun is out!
Enjoy the day!
What about the Wednesday prior to celebrate Gramps big 100? I’m sorry I’ll be in NYC on Friday but if you prefer Friday I’ll raise a glass in Times Square.
Hope everyone is staying warm!
Called to wish my b-i-l a big HB. One of my happiest days of the year is when he catches me age wise. Talked to my sister and suggested that she coordinate with the Kochs on a day but that wed. would work for us. She mentioned complications with the flower show, etc. so it is in your hands. Looks as if we will be pulling up stakes a bit early here and starting our trip home probably tomorrow, sunday. That will give us a chance to stop over and see the Atlanta group before we try to catch a lull in the weather action monday an tuesday. Rainy weekend here makes the decision a bit easier. Enjoy the weekend all. see you all soon hopefully.
Happy Monday! Kind of a whirlwind weekend! Had a lot of high hopes to get things accomplished, but you know that old saying the best laid plans of ... Oh Well!
In thinking back, I actually can not remember what I did?
I did speak to my sister about the flower show, and the days she wants to go our hotel is booked? Do we dare stay somewhere else? How would we ever manage that?
We will talk again to try and work it out. Sounds like a wonderful show this year, so I think we need to try and make it work!
The Wed before would be the 28th of Feb, so that would work for us as well!
I will double check with my sister.
According to face book, lots of accounts got hacked, so note to my brother check your FB account!
Jenna hears from John's daughter Joanna, infact she sent her a picture, and he looks better, and he will be home the end of Feb, so maybe he will be here for the Century Celebration as well
Hug and more hugs to the Holtz Twombly clan! Gosh I miss them!
After our Christmas extravaganza with the twins, every time we walk in the house they are kind of disappointed we do not come laden with presents!
Snow is returning tomorrow, UGH
Drive careful brother!
Enjoy your day and all that it brings!
Happy Tuesday of Super bowl, or as some people may feel, who cares!
Poor Eric Wood is getting ripped to shreds on social media for his non retirement announcement yesterday at 1 Bills Drive, as it was more about money, than anything else!
Yucky drive into work today, very slippery, slow going!
thankfully the snow was pretty light and fluffy now hard to shovel, but nonetheless!
UGH to snow
Hoping February will be better!
Hope my brother got home OK?
Any drinking games planned for the state of the union tonight? For example every time #45 reminds us of how smart he is, you drink??? Thoughts?
Other than that, not to much else to report
go to work, work, go home
enjoy your day as best as you can
Normally we would be on the road for the last leg of our drive home by 3-4 AM but looking at the weather reports we left at a more normal time and the roads were clear and dry all the way until we hit EA. Had to park on the street and snow blow the drive to get in but what else is new? Back for 4 hours and might not as well have left. Had a brief, sunday afternoon, stopover in Atlanta but lots of fun. Eric fixed a great dinner and we got a chance to get caught up on things. K is travelling again this week so we were in and out. Lots of unpacking to do but that can wait. 28th will work for us, I think, but I will check with the boss. Take care all.
Hold on the 28th as that is a Wed and the fixxitts can not do Wed.
Tuesday is your beautiful wife's birthday, so that day is for her and her alone!
Maybe the following week? The week of March 5th? I am not sure we will be able to squeeze in the flower show, just lots going on...
Glad you had time to spend in Atlanta and catch up with those beautiful and handsome grandchildren!
Glad your ride home was safe, and stress free!
I am kind of surprised number one son, did not have every flake removed!
Sabres lost, things seem back to normal!
Other than that, nothing else going on...
Stay warm, as man is it cold out there!
It is looking more and more like friday the 23rd, combining Mom's 101st and dad's 100th or sometime after March 5. We will find something. Tired of unpacking. Did we ever actually leave? I am definitely going to find someplace to hide out today. This is 35 consecutive days of 24/7 time with auntie and I am getting nervous for bodily harm coming my way. I definitely feel more unified after last nite. Don't know about anyone else,
Which is worse, a conciliatory trump or a defiant trump? not sure, but they all spell doom!
Friday the 23rd, I will ask around to see how that looks for everyone.
My biggest worry, spending 24/7 with George!
Lay low brother, stay out of the kitchen and under the radar
You could always say you are volunteering somewhere, and just go sit at the library?
Will ask about the 23rd
or thurs. the 22nd?? Mom redux?
Happy Friday!
Thursday Jenna and I have a cooking class, so I will ask about the 23rd first, if that is OK?
Do we want to meet somewhere in the middle so Adam and Amy and the kids have a fighting chance of coming?
No excitement for the superbowl, more excited about baseball pitchers and catchers reporting soon!
Too bad my sister does not check the blog, we could accomplish so much more!
Or even Jeff? Why did Jeff bow out?
Oh well, have a wonderful Friday
Here's to Philadelphia!
enjoy today and all that it brings!
forgot about thursdays with you guys. Need to find a day that works, Who knows about "those people". We continue to fight "the good fight".
Happy Monday and a day after a Patriots loss! Yea
good game even though I did not win any money!
I am hoping the 23rd is a good day for everyone?
Maybe we will get some answer's this week, and confirm
winter has returned, UGH!
Sabres lost
Work is work
Going to Shea's on Friday, for Jenna's birthday gift, to see waitress, looking forward to that
Other than that, any day that you are half way to work and your car still isn't defrosted is not a good day!
Have a great day!
Hey, its Tuesday!
George is battling a cold, so he is not on twin duty today, much to his disappointment!
I am not sure what I am more sick of, the cold, the snow, the cold!
Brother I wonder will February next year replace January as your get away month?
As I think Feb is way worse!
Other than that, lets see what is going on???
Nothing really
I think we are all just waiting for winter to be over!
Feb 17th we are celebrating Geo's birthday at Chef's.
We are all just trying to eat healthier, and saying that after saying we are going to Chef's! I know I know
Any way eat healthier, move more, all trying to take care of our future selves!
Other than that, only 3 more weeks of Feb!!HIp Hip Hooray!
Waitress got good reviews so you guys should enjoy your trip. Chef's is never a bad choice, for anything. Must be a lot of healthy pasta choices on the menu. Auntie and I went to see the Shape of water yesterday. Don't ask why, just got 4 stars in review. Definitely a weird movie but interesting and much more unusual than what would be a mainstream choice for us. Rated R so don't tell my older sister. Did break up the week though. Just waiting for the snow to stop so I can go and snowblow. Living thru Jan. to go away in Feb.?? Not sure what the better option is, other than going away for both. Friend Don down in Naples says that this is the worst winter they have had in six. Daughter is in Phoenix and she is liking it there so maybe there is an option. Mend quickly UG and everyone else stay healthy.
UGH to all this snow. Spoke with my sister yesterday, she is good for the 23rd.
Are we still looking at the Double D or wish to go some place more West Seneca?
Jill had a good idea, about going to Lougherans
They have that side room, we almost need to be isolated from the general population!
the 23rd was good for her, we just need to decide on a place?
I have no preference, ( the double D/ Dome is small)
Other than that, other than being small, and a Friday in Lent, nothing else to offer!
There are quite a few movies with lots of awards that are not that good, so I have heard. The last movie I saw was Dunkirk, and that was pretty good!
Gary Oldman is suppose to be pretty good as Winston Churchill, as well and again so I have heard
Arizona! George always wants to go there for the Fall BaseBall schedule
You just know anything has to be better than this snow!
George is feeling much better and back to work today
Me, I am just plugging away at work
Dreading the drive home!
Enjoy the rest of the day, and all that it brings your way!
Sounds as if there is a plan in place. Lougherans has always worked great in the past. And separating us from the general populace is always a good idea. Jeff?? Time?? Reservation?/Speaking of movies, auntie is already lobbying for the Phantom whatever for her birthday movie. The Oldman movie is on my list. maybe for next old folks tuesday. Stay warm
OK I will contact Lougherans, and see if we can get the room
Can we do 4:45 to 5PM start time?
That works best for the twins, and Gary will be working that day, so it will be Jill with the twins
I will text Jeff and Sandra, and see if they can make it?
Sounds like a plan!
Pencil the 23rd in.
Way to go sis, nicely done. appreciate all of your attention to the details. It will be good to see everyone.I will pass the info on to adam, I am doubting with their schedule, but we will see. Enjoy the weekend all and keep repeating: the snow will stop, the snow will stop
Happy Friday
Happy Opening Day of the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang!
Just so everyone is aware, the plane ride to south korea is 27 hours!
I got a confirmation from Jeff, Loughrans is fine with him, on the 23rd.
Sandra will be in Florida, so she will not be able to come.
He was not sure about Zach and Emma
Aunt Sue was fine with the day and time, so are we.
Just wait to hear about Adam
I will contact them next week with a reservation
Other than that
UGH to the snow
George is feeling better
Off to Shea's tonight and dinner at Local Kitchen and Bar.
Its almost the weekend!
Enjoy!
So we have a plan in place. Amy and the kids are heading to Boston on the Wed. of vacation week but Adam plans on coming after work. A quiet weekend without football. I am promising Auntie Mardi Gras beads if she acts properly but not getting anywhere. I''m giving up heroin for Lent. Anyone else sacrificing? Looks like temps are heading north of 32 so that is a good thing. Halfway point of Feb. tomorrow. Another good thing. heard that nc jnn did a triple axle in the driveway. Way to go Jnn!! Enjoy
Happy Fat Tuesday! I hope everyone gets there fill of Paczki's!
So Ash Wed and Valentines day collide!
Maybe Church is the best place to spend Valentines Day?
So there will be 12 of us, and 2 of them will sit in a high chair, sounds good!
It will be a great evening!
Is everyone enjoying the Olympics? Yea, me neither
Happy for Frank Reich, Jerry Sullivan has an article in this mornings paper, that kind of sounds like it was a good sign by them, and then no not a good pick.
Will be happy to see the temp climb just to get rid of the ice formation in the driveway, when you fall behind cleaning up what thawed, you are doomed! til the next thaw!
Other than that, not to much else to report on...
Its cold, but pitchers and catchers I believe report today! hip hip hooray!
Travel safe Amy!
Happy Lent? Happy Valentine's Day? Sister's idea of spending the day in church is probably the wise choice. Watched my first Olympic event this morning. Saw that US hockey was up 2-0 so I turned it on to watch them lose 3=2. So much for me and the Olympics. Looks like auntie and I are heading out to catch a movie today. Warmer weather apparently is on the way. Looks as if Ben is joining us on friday while Mom works. Taxes on sat. morning and then a 2nd birthday celebration for Lucas, Dan and amanda's younger son, on sat. afternoon, Other than that, nothing going on. I do agree that it will be an opportunity to get after the curling rink that is my driveway. enjoy
Happy Monday!
Happy Presidents Day, the one Monday holiday, that annoyed my mother like no other, she felt that George Washington's Birthday needed his own day!
Wonder why?
Oh well, it is always a nice drive into work on a Monday Holiday, as the traffic is cut in half!
Had a whirlwind weekend, with Geo's birthday on Friday.
we celebrated Saturday, at Chef's with the twins. Gwenn and Henry are usually very amicable in a restaurant, however they did get a little antsy, which just sends their parents anxiety level through the roof!
We tried to keep the alcohol flowing, but not to much helps when both toddlers are done with sitting and eating! We then had Lake Effect Ice Cream Cake for dessert!
It was a very nice birthday, none the less.
Other than that, kind of sick of this cold weather! show of hands?
It will be very nice to get together on Friday, and toast two people, who I am sure smile down on all of us each and everyday!
Happy Presidents Day!
Reservations confirmed for 5PM Friday 02/23/2018 @ Loughran's
4543 Main Street
Buffalo, NY 14226
We are in the back room, so far we are a party of 10 plus 2 high chairs.
So let me know if anyone else wishes to join us for drinks, dinner, and of course Laughs!
Can not wait to see everyone!
Party of 12, Additional Rice's are attending!
Now Party of 11, Mr Fixxitt is not attending!
I am thinking someone said something to offend him?
Now who would do that? Jeff!!!!
all caught up and feeling connected. Miss you guys and wish I could be there tonight!
Yea, K!!! Wish you and your beautiful family could be with us as well!
But maybe about 5:05, you could raise your glass, and Cheers to our Hey you are Hundred, Birthday Celebration!
So last night Jenna and I had our first cooking class! It was a lot of fun!
The sabres won on a last second shot.
And very soon Spring will arrive!
I was able to book the Hotel we always stay in for the Flower Show, so that made my sister very happy!
and other than that, so looking forward to tonight, and toasting the couple who made it all happen!
Chas and Nanc!
Gotta say that friday was a wonderful evening. lots of laughs and good times and an appropriately timed flicker of the lights. Son threw down the gauntlet for the "history is brewin' walk/stumble thru EA. If someone comes up with a day/date I will have the narrative in place and ready to go along with the appropriate drink chits and solo cups. Thank you son, Jill seemed the most intrigued, along with my son, so I would suggest a convenient august?? .day/date. Again, I really think that it is neat that we still do this Here is to the next event.
Happy Monday, to the last Monday in February!
The sun is out, and no snow!
Happy Birthday Eve to my beautiful sister in law! She added so much class to our family! So happy my brother was smart enough to make her a " holtz" ! A relunctant one, but none the less!
Friday was so much fun! And to echo my brother, the only time the lights flickered was at the mentioning of Mom and Dad, at no other time did they flicker!
I have always felt the presence of my mother, if there ever was a soul to be carted off to heaven, kicking and screaming it would have been her! She loved every minute of her life! And the fact that we do get together and enjoy each others company, at least I think we do, is a testament to them! So Cheers to them both!
The twins had a wonderful time and the restaurant was perfect for them, had they only offered macaroni salad, I think it would have been a 10!
As far as my brother agreeing to the new Holtz Family Business! I am excited!
And to quote an episode of Seinfeld, what could go wrong?
Congratulations to our K! On her honorable mention, in the Atlanta Flower Show Competition! You did an awesome job!
And Happy Happy Birthday to my sister in law tomorrow!
I hope you are surrounded by the love of family and friends, and of course wine!
And hey be nice to someone today!
Hey! I found the blob... now I'm back in bizness.
Awesome time Friday night! Thank you, thank you.
Welcome Back JT!
We did have fun on Friday nite!
And so looking forward to our HammeredHoltzTour2018!
Its amazing how fried food and beer can inspire!
Good Bye! February!!!!
So on this date in history:
On this day in 1904, Theodor Geisel, better known to the world as Dr. Seuss, the author and illustrator of such beloved children’s books as “The Cat in the Hat” and “Green Eggs and Ham,” is born in Springfield, Massachusetts.
And it is also the birthday of Charles Frederick Holtz. So happy one hundredth Pops!
So at least every school in western new York closed, and the ride into work was really not that bad this morning
But it is a heavy heavy wet snow!
I think our #HoldmybeerHoltzhammeredhistorytour of 2018 is coming together nicely.
I think our stumbling blocks are, what day? T shirts? And does my sister know whats going on?
Jenna is traveling to NYC this weekend, for all expense paid weekend full of multiple tours, trips, meals at top notch restaurants, her best friend Katie, her boss is treating his employees and a guest, as a thank you!
With all flights being cancelled the boss rented Excursions and they are driving down to NYC. More to come on this, I am sure!
Stay warm dry and hydrated
And Happy Birthday Pops!
A belated by one day HB dad. All of the emails last week distracted from the Blog business at hand. Yesterday's snow complications didn't help much either. In any event just an update on the family stumble. Research and planning is going along. Spent wed. at the local history museum and one of the stops to be along our path. At least one of our hosts will be glad to see us and is interested in our plan. One complication is that july 28th won't work. That is reunion weekend in town and will be much too crowded to do what we need to do where we need to do it. So we are back datewise to August. Weekend of the 4th, 11th or 18ith. JT, since he already penciled in the date in #2 has first call on this. Also, FYI Aunt B, don't necessarily dismiss Phantom Thread just because of my response. My better half liked the movie and found it "thought provoking" but since it took place in 1950's London, and she loves all of the English stuff, you should see it and enjoy it. hope that all goes well with nc jnn's trip to nyc. Film? at 11? Enjoy what is left of the weekend.
So as my sister and I head off to Philadelphia, it appears a Noreaster is in the forecast!
Well its not like we have not hit those before!
In actuality a little bit of snow will pretty much keep everyone off the roads, and we will have a better chance of not missing our exit, which we pretty much always do!
So tomorrow morning we are off, Jill and Gary are off to spring training games on Saturday and Sunday, and they return home on Monday
Other than that nothing else is going on
Enjoy the rest of this week and the weekend!
Good afternoon and Happy Nor'Easter, It looks like they're getting socked. Boy, I'm glad we don't get snow (ummm... rain?) like that... sheesh.
August 18th will not work for us, we'll be down in West Virginia at the Stonewall Jackson Resort attending a Strategical Right Flank Conference. Sandra's idea.
As of now those two other weekends are open in August but will fill in quickly with baseball, beer, and shenanigans. I would still like to suggest an earlier date in the spring; late April/ May?
It's good to be participating again.
always good to see a JT blog entry. How about May 12 or 19 for possibilities? It would get the summer season off early. Let's bat that around. Gotta be a noreaster if my sisters are on the way to philly. Apparently another one for sunday/monday for them too. Here in WNY, just one glorious day after another. Hey, it's thursday. Hang in there.
Happy first day back to work!
Thank goodness all our pesky spring growth has been covered with snow!
Another successful trip to Philly with my sister!
Only a few bumps in the road and all happened on the way home!
Who knew Vine St was a very busy one way street in down town Philly! And yes yes we did go the wrong way on a one way street! To my sisters impeccable driving skills we were not killed, and to quote my sister, everyone driving at us, had one finger in the air, to let us know it was one way, my response: Yes, sister that is exactly what that one middle finger means!
It is always fun to travel together, we get a chance to catch up, and talk about Mom.
She always asked us to take her to the flower show and we never did, and after going there year after year, no regrets about not taking her!
This years show was just OK, and then on Friday Night they opened it up to visitors to bring their dogs in with them! Which was ridiculous, to say the least!
We had a lot of fun
And of course talked about going back next year!
Other than that, sick of the snow, looking forward to see how far St Bonaventure and UB go in the NCAA's.
Anxiously waiting for opening day
And aren't we planning a Holtzapalooza in July?
Enjoy this day and all that it brings your way!
Glad to see/hear that my sisters made it back safe and sound. Always lots of good memories made. Nphw jff is still campaigning for a May "stumble". I put the dates of may 12 or 19 out there. That does not preclude something later in the summer. Just finished snowblowing for the last??? hopefully, time this winter. We will see. the advanced forecast still doesn't look promising for next week. Yeah Bonnies!! Go UB!!
How about them UB Bulls!!! There goes lots of brackets! Another day today. Enjoy
Happy Friday
Happy St Patricks day eve
UGH to this endless snow, cold and wind! It was pretty blustery making my way into work this morning
Congrats to UB, from the highlights it looked like a great game, and I bet a lot of people are one and done!
Gonzaga had to come from behind as well!
Poor St Bonaventure!
Heres hoping they can do the same to Kentucky!
Happy Birthday Sunday to my sister! I hope you have a wonderful day!
I hope everyone has great St Patricks day plans!
Just so much to do!
We are heading out to Woodcock tomorrow
tonight is fish fry and the High School Play of Jekyl and Hyde
Not a good day for the Female Democrats, RIP Louise Slaughter and Hillary fell in India.
Other than that, enjoy green beer, and great basketball this weekend!
since I know that my sister follows this very closely I will use the opportunity to wish her a very happy 72nd and hope that she has both a great day and a most pleasant trip to Florida this week. She sure has picked a good time to go. Great basketball games to enjoy even though we didn't get out to celebrate St. Patty's yesterday. Enjoy today.
The Koch and Everett family have RSVP'd to our Congratulatory fish fry in April
Check that off my to do list!
Never a big Syracuse fan, but an even less Michigan St fan, so was happy to see that final!
We had a great time at Woodcock Brewery! Their St Patricks day celebration was fabulous, as was their green beer! And the music was great as well!
Got a chance to catch up with Andrea and Trisha, Barb and Chuck did not come in, it is just too hard to travel! But heard they are doing well!
Was just a lot of fun!
Other than that, not to much else going on...
Still cold, and not very spring like!
My sister, I believe left for Florida today, not sure what time?
Did not get a chance to talk to her yesterday, so will catch up with her when she gets back
Enjoy Monday! Hey, its the only one in the week!
Happy Thursday to all
I am pretty sure that everyone saw the birth of David and Sherry's son, Jameson, on facebook! He is a very handsome guy, mom and baby are doing very well! And we are all very excited! Can not wait to see him!
Tonight is mine and Jenna's last cooking class, I have to tell you it has been a lot of fun, but I have to be honest, I did not really learn anything. But it was fun nonetheless!
Basketball resumes tonight! Yea! I hope everyone still has a viable bracket!
the twins are battling colds, I think we are all anxious for winter to be over!
Other than that, not to much else going on in the COT..
Got my SS statement, and if I work until I am 66 2/3rds year old!!! I can get a check every month for 1643. I am guessing that would just about cover my health care!
Anxiously waiting on spring!
Enjoy this day and every day, as we head into Holy Week!
Was everyone as surprised as I was to see Fr. Kemp on the Priest list of accused molesters! As he did perform the ceremony for my sister's wedding!
Sounds as if my sister had a good St Patty's day weekend, at least way more exciting than ours, and here's hoping that this one is at least as much fun. Hope that my other sister is enjoying Florida. Have to live my life vicariously thru my sisters I guess. Really quiet out this way. Auntie has her eye on a yarn shop out in Getzville so it looks like our big adventure this weekend will be a drive today out Transit rd. Congrats to david and another grandchild for AB and UG. Yeah, Father Kemp was the only name on the list that I recognized. Don't worry, 66 and 2/3 is just down the road, and remember, that is free money. Looks as if a bit warmer weather may be on the horizon. Keep the faith and enjoy the weekend.
Happy Friday!
Could Easter be one week away? And hopefully the end of winter!
Has everyone seen interviews with Sr. Jean from Loyola, who is 98 years old?
She is pretty funny, she says she prays for everyone, just a little harder for her team!
Other than that, a yarn shop in Getzville? Doesn't Walmart have yard? Or Amazon?
I am thinking with Amazon prime, you really don't have to leave your house, ever!
work is kind of quiet this week, as everyone is off
And I am just waiting for Spring!
The Sabres are still horrific, and opening day is in 3 weeks!
the new food at the ball park sounds yummy! Giant Pierogi! Who could pass that up!
Jenna and I had our last cooking class last nite, we really did not learn much, but it was a lot of fun!
Enjoy the rest of today, and this weekend!
So I was anticipating a drive to Pa. to golf this week but a call to Terry Hills in Batavia and they said that they plan to open on tuesday. that part is good, but looking at my yard I am thinking that I had best spray paint some golf balls black in order to be able to find them. Holy week at hand, with Easter and April coming at the end of the week. A quiet weekend here. There was a pre=Easter get together sunday at mother bunts. normally it would be easter but Barb and Joe will be travelling. They have tickets for the Masters golf tourney, actually it is for the practice round on tuesday, but they are justifiably very excited. Seems to be a heavy golf theme on this post. Did find the yarn shop and had lunch across the street at Grover's bar and grill and that was a good fish fry. Enjoy the week and stay somber. Remember, fasting is almost over and the candy will be awaiting.
Happy Monday, and the beginning of Holy Week!
Hope the Bunts Family had a beautiful Easter Celebration!
How exciting tickets to the Masters! Seeing that gold course is on my bucket list!
I believe Ms Emma takes off for Rome this week, and she also had a major announcement, as she will be attending the Canisius! Great choice!
Other than that, busy " meeting week" with zoning and planning and school board!
And getting ready for Easter!
The official Easter celebration will be at 94 Lorelee, as it is just way easier with the twins to keep them their home for any and all celebratory meals!
They do, do very well in restaurants, but a busy holiday, I am thinking home will be way better
Some great college basketball this weekend
Anyone still alive in their bracket? lots of upsets!
Should be great games coming up
Too Bad for the UB Women!
The Sabres still stink! Can anyone even watch them anymore? Or does anyone even watch them anymore?
Enjoy today
Hope you get some great golf in brother!
Happy Holy Wednesday!
HOpe everyone is having a great week! The weather has been iffy, but at least no snow!
So prayers for George, so with Opening day looming, sometime yesterday the big TV died! Calls to Russ Wattum have gone un answered, and Geo maybe forced to watch the Yankees opening pitch on a small screen TV. The struggle is real!
Other than that, the COT School Board moved forward on the sale of Clint Small stadium last night.
Kind of the end of an era!
Happy Birthday Terry Pegula! yesterday
Jenna could possibly, very maybe , coming forth with some exciting news, more to come on that on Good Friday!
Went to the Sportsman Tavern to hear a good friends cousin big band, and it was very very good! I highly recommend going to the Sportsman for anyone who enjoys live music! And they also have live bands during lunch, I know I know everyone is afraid of parking on Amherst, but there is a huge lot across the street!
So venture out one and all!
Hope UG got the tv issue taken care of. First pitch of season hit for a homer by Happ of Cubbies. Has to be a sign for the season. News from nc jnn?? Looking forward to that. Have not yet visited the Sportsman tavern but it is certainly on the list of things to do, Switching back and forth between Cubs game and Mets game so far. Will give me a good excuse to avoid the game at 4, altho I should watch and root for the poor "underdog" yankees. I miss the Boss. Back in the day if he found out that he was spending 75 mill less than the sox, he would have gone out and hired 76 mill of free agents off the streets. Those were the days. Is it playoff time yet for the boys of october?? Back to the tv
Happy Easter to all and hoping that the day, unlike the weather, proves to be enjoyable. Happy that the yankees won't go undefeated this year, that nphw jff's maize and blue will be playing tomorrow evening, can't believe that the lady uconn team lost, and I will be watching the latest japanese babe ruth pitch today. onward and upward to jewettville for easter dinner a bit later. talked to the hotlanta holtz=twombley easter experience as they were on their way to church. Enjoy the day and don't fall prey to any pranks.
As I recall Mom willed herself to wait one more day before delivering. There was no way that she was going to have a baby on April 1. So, a big HB to my baby sister who now is officially a "volunteer". Just remember that from now on there is, in dad's words, "sociable security" waiting for you. Never thought that you would make it, did you? So, hope that both yesterday and today were great days for you.ENJOY!!
Happy Birthday Aunt Bessie! Lets see you would have been 114? 04/04/04?
I think she was born in 1904?
thank you for the birthday wishes, unfortunately I have been deathly ill since Easter, not sure what happened? But once the CDC said the flu was making round 2, pretty much been in bed the last 3 days
back to work today, Just waiting for the snow to begin!
So jealous of the Bunts family at the Masters!
How fun would that be to catch a round of golf there!
I hope everyone had a nice Easter, I personally would have liked it a tad bit warmer!
Daughter Jill, hosted Easter, things are so much easier with the twins when they are in their own environment!
Great Yankee win last night
If the Sabres loose tonight they will officially be in last place! ouch
Bison home opener is one week from tomorrow!
I hear my brother is meeting my sister out for lunch on the 13th, so enjoy your day!
Geo's knee replacement got pushed back to July 10th
Austin is still cleaning up downstate, with the logger group he signed on with.
Gwenn and Henry will be attending St Francis Pre School in September.
Well Jenna's big announcement, is not so much a big announcement!
She was approached by Dem Chair, Jeremy Zellner to run against Mickey Kearns for the County Clerk job this November. However upon further review, she was the third person on the list, after Hope Jay, from the Buffalo School Board, Steve Cichon, who had just lost and then Jenna. She graciously declined.
Other than that, not to much else to report on
Just how did we get to be the age we are?
So power went out yesterday about 3 pm. No updates available for resumption time from nyseg so last nite became a campout with the jewettville holtz family plus lucy in front of the fireplace. We were able to keep the house about 60 and you can imagine the cheers of joy when the power went back on this morning about 11. Sorry to hear that you were under the weather sis but the important thing is that you were able to get back to work. Remember, you are a volunteer now. I thin that nc jnn made a good call not to run. Still nice to be asked, regardless of the circumstances. Lots of news in the northtowns. Far less from here. Pre school for the twins?can't be. but st. francis is cool. Can you believe this weather?? A week until the bisons home opener? Another one i will miss. Stay healthy all.
Power outages are the worst! Glad you survived!
How fun to camp out with the Holtz family!
Did you and your son firm up the map for our Hold My Beer History and Hops tour?
It will be here before we know it, whenever we decide to do it!
The Sabres did finish in last place!
And other than that, nothing else is really going on
Just pretty sick of this crazy weather!
I thought that we were working on a tentative date of May 12. If not then, probably in june sometime. The only reliables are you and jeff. need to touch base with him and see if that works. I need to finish my script and the details of the tour. Now that my sister is healed, I will put the organizational details in her capable hands. Who else would be available/interested?? Kids are back today and just watching it snow. This weather has been AMAZING !! in the most negative of ways. A platinum sombrero? Don't see that often, but he will still hit 70 or 80
May 12th, sounds perfect!
George is off that weekend, and I will firm it up with everyone else.
we are all still on for Friday the 27th, so we can always recap that day at that gathering as well
I understand that you are having lunch with our sister next Friday, so you can make sure they are available as well.
A Platinum Sombrero? Hit 70 or 80? Golf terms?
Not sure what that is in reference too?
Who is flocking to see Chappaquidick this weekend?
Preliminary reviews are that it really makes Ted Kennedy look bad?
I guess my question is how could you make a movie about Chappaquidick and make him look good?
The snow is pretty ridiculous
But in April of 1976, it did pretty much snow throughout the whole month, then the last weekend of the month it stopped. Don't ask me how I know that.
Other than that, not to much else going on, just waiting for some Spring!
Enjoy this weekend!
We will plan on May 12. The "platinum sombrero" was in reference to the 5 strikeout night of Giancarlo Stanton the other evening and the subsequent boos from the yankee fans. he homered the following evening and thus my comment about his hitting 70 or 80 for the year. Not planning on Rochester for baseball today, just trying to stay warm. Took the kids, audrey and oliver, bowling yesterday, so that is probably the biggie for the weekend. Will try to find a way to be productive but based on recent history, that is highly unlikely. Enjoy!
Another sombrero for Giancarlo??? Never saw that coming. Anyhow, the Pilafs are good for the 12th so we have a quorum and we will go. Hopefully it works for jenna and jill if they are interested. I will see sue on friday.I think that it will be fun, and certainly a family first of sorts.
Happy Monday!
Another snowy weekend! Show of hands as to who has had enough? Just as I thought, everyone has had enough!
So I copied the last entrees in the Blog and sent out an email to confirm the May 12th date, and to see if anyone had any other ideas? And to assign a few tasks?
I hope that was OK?
So just check your email for said responses.
It looks like that is a perfect date, for Jeff and Family, Jill and Family, the Koch's ..
Are we implementing a weather date? Just in case?
Sounds like a lot of fun!
Other than that, just another weekend in the books!
Opening day this week, will anyone make it?
we will probably pass, as it is suppose to rain that day.
Oh well enjoy today, another week getting closer to better weather!
Happy Wed, 4/11, I do like those numbers! On Aunt Bessies birthday, the number was 0404, which is her birthday... Now that would have been easy money!
So there is a great email out there covering our History and Hops tour, so much fun and everyone is participating which is even better, well almost everyone.
Enjoy lunch with my sister on Friday!
Where are you headed?
Other than that, Severino took a beating last nite! Its a game like that, that I miss the immediate response from Steinbrenner! I was hoping #45 would have tweeted something? I think he mimics a lot of reactionary responses, that the Boss was famous for!
Other than that, not to much else to report.
Our school board adopted our school budget last night, which tops off at 34 million!
And its not enough!
Oh well
Opening day tomorrow, anyone venturing out?
Anyone get the " blurb" from facebook that your information was used by the analytical firm?
Jenna is headed out to Boise, Idaho tomorrow
David's new son, Jameson is doing well.
Austin is home for a spell, after his massive clean up effort downstate.
And me, having just turned 62 is in the quandary of continueing to work full time? Which I need to do
Collecting SS$ money in October when I turn 62.5, and getting a part time job
Or holding off collecting and just continue as is, decisions decisions decisions
I see House Speaker Paul Ryan wont run for re election, so this speaks volumes that the Republicans can not hold the house! Maybe there is hope!
See everyone April 27th!
Lots of fun with the email chain and even more fun preparing. Details are coming together nicely and that is only 4 weeks down the line. 2 weeks until K's event and meeting the Fixxitts tomorrow at Santasiero's on Niagara st. in Black Rock--their pick. Multiple bruhahas last nite at sox game. Was thinking about today's bison game but rain, high winds, freezing rain in the offing, according to patrick hammer's long range forecast, and then more snow have me sitting at home in the fetal position whimpering. I will spend the time more productively researching the connection between Alexander Hamilton and EA. How is that for a "tease"? given all of the recent interest in Hamilton. Happy Birthday Eric Twombley. Glad to see Paul Ryan hitting the bricks. Perhaps he has more integrity than I gave him credit. Don't go at 62 sis. It was a bit of a mistake on my part in retrospect. Enjoy
thank you for the SS$ advice, brother!
I just keep thinking that #45 will screw it up somehow and it will all be lost!
Too bad you are not going to Roost on Niagara St, YUM!
It was a classic Yankee game, good versus evil, good meaning the Yankee's last night!
I think we also need to add the Barbill to our tour as an eating stop, as they are now on the top 12 places to visit for wings!
Looking forward to everything we have planned!
UGH to this weather!
Enjoy today, and tomorrow...
Happy Friday!
My brother and sister are off to the West Side for lunch today! Enjoy
A looming ice storm has been forcast for tomorrow, brutal
Lets wee what else is going on
Jenna is in Boise Idaho for an extended weekend. Not sure if everyone is aware of this back story, but when Jenna's friend , Kim was dx with brain cancer, and the fundraiser was held, and with Jenna's social media skills, the story went viral, a woman in Idaho had showed Kim's story to her church and then reached out to Jenna.
They became fast friends, but then again who doesn't become fast friends with Jenna, and the rest is history. Jackie who has 3 daughters, has come to visit us, and Jenna is off to visit her.
Jenna was in the airport yesterday, when the plane was hit by lightening, and her flight was delayed. But she did make it to Boise yesterday. So all is good
Other than that, paying out taxes this weekend, UGH
Have a school board work shop next week to finalize our goals, the worst ever of a meeting!
work is work
Today is Friday the 13TH, which is still better than Monday!
Stay warm dry and safe!
Had a real nice lunch with the Fixxitts yesterday. Good Itralian food, certainly comparable to Chef's and not quite as pricey, altho no chicken livers on the menu so that will keep Chef's in play. Mr. F. came armed with reprints of the articles that he has been researching regarding the history of EA, so I have been put on notice. I will be challenged on any/all "fake news/history" that I may come up with. Apparently that incident regarding the train station in Tonawanda left a scar on Mr. F. Hate ice storms or the potential of ice storms, Hope that the weather is better in Boise. Today is Jason Wagner's 4th birthday party at Gramma Linda's so we will be out and about 2 days in a row. Who says you can't be retired and stay busy? Here's hoping that our weather forecast proves to be wrong. Enjoy our weekend such as you can.
Looks as if we dodged a weather bullet, at least so far, as power remained on. Channel 2 was broadcasting live from Tonawanda this morning and it looked as if the northtowns got a lot of sleet.Should the council pres. be out of town when there is a weather emergency like this??? Hope that nc jnn gets back without travel hassles. Jewettville holtzes were here for bfst and I am about to go out and get my newspaper to test conditions. stay safe
Glad to hear that Santaseriso hasn't changed much! And it was enjoyed!
What a bust of a weekend, with the endless weather forecast of gloom and doom, and travel advisory's , and power outage potential, it was brutal!
Our poor little neighbor across the street, suffered a medical emergency on Sunday, which brought out a plethora of rescue vehicles! George and I had taken off to the movies, travel advisory be damned!.. BUT our neighbor, contacted Jenna via FB and told her George was in trouble, and that is why all the emergency vehicles were on our street. Needless to say, Jenna being Jenna panicked and sent out everyone and their brother to insure our safety! Brutal! Needless to say we were fine, Chappiquidick was not that great of a movie, and I forgot to lock my car, and cell phone charger was stolen!
So to recap, Jenna had the whole world in an uproar that Geo was in a medical emergency, I wasted money on a dumb movie, and my car was ripped off!
On the plus side, the roads were fine, so not sure why you were advised to not travel in Niagara County!
Trust me the Council President, always her finger on the pulse of just about everything!
Show of hands, who watched the Comey interview?
Yea me neither.
Other than that, its suppose to snow this afternoon!
Brutal!
Get through the day as best you can!
Seems like there is never a dull moment on Adam st. Thank God for Facebook to keep everyone informed. Proud as can be that we set the standard last nite for snow in the area with our 2 and a half inches. Just a beautiful?? winter wonderland out there this AM. Mr. Benjamin will be joining us today for a visit and did mention on sunday that he hasn't been to Ted's "in a really long time" so I am guessing that we will be taking a trip in that direction today. Other than that, not a lot going on. Talked to K yesterday and she, as well as us, are looking forward to seeing her next week. Hope that nc jnn had a good time in Boise despite her upset. Have to get some inside info from her since we will be spending a day there this june. Enjoy
Teds! Oh Man I love Teds! Their Polish Sausage sandwich is the best!
Enjoy, and I hope you have coupons!
Nothing more can be said about the weather, the blizzard last night, my care was encased in ice and snow this morning, and I'm pretty sure our driveway was shoveled
today!
Very much looking forward to our fish fry next weekend!
Jenna would be happy to fill you in on everything that is Boise!
This past weekend they were sunny and 70!
Bison game cancelled today and tomorrow, as I believe it is suppose to snow until Thursday
I am so ready to burn my winter coat!
Enjoy today and all that it brings
Happy Thursday
Still cold, gray, snowy, no sun, no sign of spring!
I have to be honest with you, this weather reminds me of the Twilight Zone episode where everyone is complaining how hot it is, everyone stays in doors, with cold drinks, huddled in front of a fan, and then the fan stops because electricity is off! And then in reality they are all freezing, endless snow! kind of what we are all doing, endless winter!
So Geo and I went to the Remington last night for 20.18$ Restaurant week!
And it was wonderful! Sangria from there is wonderful! And 2 glasses is even better! They had 20.18$ dinner menu, they had 30.18$ dinner menu and a 40.18 dinner menu.
Other than that so many great restaurants are offering such great menus!
Other than that, nothing else new is going on.
looking forward to dinner next week!
So just what exactly is the shiny thing up there in the sky?? I will have to go out and investigate. Met our friends the Marlins last nite in Batavia. We meet at the racino there which works out well. Ladies chat, Paul and I gamble, then we have dinner at the rest. there. Pretty good food and they too had a rest. week special. Not a big fan of the drive though. Never used to mind driving at nite, but not the case any longer. AP has the shower for Amanda tomorrow but today looks quiet. Have to admit that I am enjoying MLB so far this season, but am reluctant to say too much. The evil empire is always lurking in the wings but 17-2?? Really?? And they lost the first game of the season because of the stupid analytics which caused them to pull Sale when he should have been kept out there. Anyhow, my Cavs and LBJ are in trouble so it all evens out. Enjoy the weekend and the hopefully improving weather.
so as soon as i open my stupid mouth the yankees go off and the sox get no hit. when will I ever learn!!!! Another nice day. find a way to enjoy it.
Happy Monday!
Another week closer to retirement!
Looks like Amanda had a very nice shower via face book information!
Looking forward to our Friday get together, always wonderful to see K!
Other than that, it looks like any other work week!
Suppose to be beautiful today! Too bad everyone is working!
Other than that, not to much else going on
I think my brother needs to get over his disdain for the Yankees.
The GM from the sux who referred to them as the evil empire is no more, and The Boss, is long gone. They have hired Aaron Boone, and Derek Jeter is dismantling the Marlins. Even my brother in law was wearing a Yankee hat at a Rockies game!
Looking forward to some endless yard work!
And it appears that there is another heir to the throne of England!
See everyone on Friday!
Happy Wednesday!
Monday was gorgeous! Tuesday a little rain, today the same. No worries. We finally turned Winter's corner. Incredible. Now it's just smooth sailing through the baseball season.
I'm really looking forward to Friday's Fish Fry Event, do I dare go off the board and get wings?
Happy Wed! 04/25 - great numbers to play!
So much happening in our Holtz World! Happy Birthday tomorrow, Amy Warren Holtz!
Hope you have a wonderful day! Happy Birthday Zach Rice, as well. We will be celebrating that day Sunday at Woodcock! So it is now officially a family weekend!
So there is some concern that Walleweins is really not big enough for the whole Holtz/ Bunts/ Rice/ Everett/Wagner Family?
Did my brother rent out the space? Do you have that kind of power?
So some great news out of Asheville! Rick has been offered a position in Charleston, which he has accepted, and he and Stacy will be moving!
There has been some talk of Holtzapalooza in Charleston in 2026, but that seems kind of far away? Exactly what is the life expectancy of us Holtz's???
Lets face it we all cant be Mom!
Other than that, just waiting for consistent sunshine, Bison Games and Beers!
Enjoy Wed! Hey its the only one we have this week!
And Stoiber Family!
Happy Birthday Amy and Zach! Hope you both have great days!
So its Christmas day for Bills fans, the day everyone has been waiting for! Draft day! I know I know
Love the email trails, so much fun!
Such a great work diversion!
Not to much else going on, other than waiting for some decent weather!
Looking forward to tomorrow!
The Atlanta person has arrived so let the games begin. Looking forward to tomorrow but our guest was a bit taken aback by the high 30's temps. she arrived to enjoy. I promised more for tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing how things go this evening draft wise. Email is a lot quieter today. 2 birthdays on the same day. Happy 21st for Zach, a number that I think that he is enjoying more than Amy is enjoying her number. Que sera. Enjoy all. See you all tomorrow!
FRIDAY!!!
Zach had a nice birthday with his friends last night playing simulated golf at Pebbles Beach and having his first legal beer (a Corona) all this at The Golf Dome. He and his friends then joined me at The Tap Room, so I could clank my glass with him. A true Father/ Son moment.
Hm... some folk are not to happy with the Josh Allen pick. We will see. I'm fine with it. I wanted a QB. Let's see what happens and enjoy life.
Looking forward to tonight's fish fry.
Welcome Home!! K!
And its suppose to snow tomorrow!
I love how everyone can come together for dinners, when planned!
So many families just cant be bothered, but not us!
We all make the effort!
So, thoughts on the bills draft???
I find it interesting that his tweets from when he was 15 were released yesterday on draft day!
Hoping its a good pick!
See everyone tonight!
Woo Hoo! First one to write on May 1st... I'm honored. I'd like to thank all the little people that look up to me.
So, I just enjoyed a gorgeous lunch outside in my car. Not sure of the temperature but it was enjoyable. Maybe I'm still in February mode? We had a really nice day at Woodcock's on Sunday... and I'm not sure what happened BUT we may have a Summer Holtzapalooza in the works.
Happy May
Always love to see nephew on the blog!
We had such a wonderful family weekend!
Wallewein's who knew?
Woodcock!! W's all the way around!
Hope Zach enjoyed his 21st birthday party! I know I did
And Holtzapalooza this summer! How fun will that be!
Of course there is the midweek pizza and wing party tomorrow
Not asking for an RSVP, as that did cause quite the problem last week
A thumbs up or a thumbs down will do
Enjoy today and all that it brings your way
May is halfway over... where do the daze go?
Ummmm... anywho.
My costume just arrived for the "Holtz Family, Hold My Beer History Tour" I can't wait to don my "Industrial War" themed outfit. I love dressing up. My mom won't even recognize me. Sandra will. She has to help me with my galluses.
Happy Cinco DeMayo Eve! New Holiday!
just a couple of shout outs! Thank you Adam!!! I know how hard it was for you to get away, but thank you so much for stopping! I cant thank you enough!
Jeff/Sandra - thanking you as well! Everyones time is so precious, and the fact that you were able to stop by is awesome!
My sister is battling some horrible cold, we did call her to confirm, and she did sound horrible!
And the twins are both on medication for walking pneumonia, so that is the reason for their absence.
But to recap, we had a wonderful evening
Rebecca , Joanna and Lisa were so grateful!
So just once again want to thank everyone!
Here's hoping you pick the winner in the Derby!
Happy Birthday Eve, to my beautiful, talented, smart, sassy niece Kristen Dyan!
I remember your birth like yesterday! I was a sophomore in high school, and I cant remember Gramma and Grampa happier!
I hope your day is full of love!
Cheers to you!
So to recap, my sister wanted to make potato salad for the family, from her death bed, I told her gently to rest stay in bed and get better! We will call Wegmans!
Thank you Sandra, for the program!
Other than that, John's kids have rented a house, I believe they said it was on Tacoma. They wanted to host after the funeral. So we will see what else is needed
Life changes on a dime, doesn't it!
Sassy Kristen! I like it!
BTW, I had Justify at work and won $50. Potato Salad on me!
Please keep us informed (I mean text us) of any info going down for Saturday. Please! I'm begging you.
So I spent my daughter's birthday afternoon sweltering at the ballpark and toasting her 46th. Hard to believe. Did reconnect with the Conehead and he did say that it was good to see me again. His line was that at "our age" it was "better to be seen than viewed" which did seem appropriate given the time place and circumstances of our current situation. Sounds like everything is set for saturday. Way to go nphw jff grabbing comment #100. See everyone on sat.
just wondering if everything has returned to normal on Adam st. Thank you for all of your efforts on Sat. sis. Anyone know if the Holtzes have all returned? Hope that all of the mothers enjoyed their day.
Happy Monday!
Hope all the Mom's out there had a wonderful Mother's day! Beautiful day!
All the Holtz's left early yesterday morning
I think they were all returning to Cape Cod, and flying out of Boston.
Matthew was returning to California, but he is moving to Cape Cod in August.
Lisa was returning to Winnipeg, and Andrea to Florida
I thought the kids did a great job with John's service.
I appreciate everyone who came, and stayed, the kids needed to see all of us!
I can honestly say, the last two weeks have been pretty ??? I don't even have a word!
However, for 2019, they would very much like to host Holtzapalooza.
I am thinking we are due for a destination Holtzapalooza!
And Cape Cod!
Not sure what everyone's thoughts are, but Jeff and I did work out the initial details its in one year and we will arrive around 4:30-ish....
Can we all add that in?
Other than that, not to much is going on.
Everyone vote to approve your school board budgets, tomorrow
Please
And on a final note, I will miss you John! I loved how you would call me for things that were doable with out a lecture, and if it was more involved you asked Jenna!
Waiting on July 7th!
Yes! Just to reiterate, Destination Holtzapalooza is about a year away around 4:30 ish. Mark your Fitbits . Is that a thing? I put it on a post-it note.
OKAY, when we talk about 7/7 now? Too soon?
Have the Tour Books been printed? The last I herd (inside joke) we were getting elephants for travel? Do we need a permit?
Not too early to begin talk of 7/7. I have not herd of any limitations on elephant travel within the village but will check into it. Hope that the Mass./fla/manitoba/cal./other Holtz clan felt some sense of closure from the events of sat. Kudos to my little sister for all that she did to try to help them achieve whatever it was that they were looking for. Just watching the grass grow. Stay safe all and lets hope for a quieter time ahead.
Mmmmmm... quiet times. The simple joys of life. The creak of a rocking chair on a wood porch. Quiet times indeed.
Zach had a nice golf outing with friends yesterday at Deerwood. The score was higher than he wanted but he said he had a really nice day in the sun.
I went out to eat with my best friend at The Place last night... Sandra's really going to like The Place; GF options all over the menu. Zach got the pork chop and said it was delicious.
In 5 days Sandra and I will have paid our last payment to MSM! It's been 7 years since we started this journey with the kids. I wouldn't change a thing, but it'll be nice not paying that second mortgage. Time to start saving for Ireland.
Thank you to everyone who voted to pass their school budgets!
In the COT we needed to encourage residents to vote yes for us to sell the old football stadium, and I was amazed at how cranky old people are!
gheesh!
So, #capecodHoltzapalooza2019, is slowly coming together, is everyone good with the time 4:30 ish????
Ireland!!!! Well that is on my bucket list! You know cousin Cathy, your god mother is currently renting a house on dingle bay for the next 10 days! That might be something fun to look into
Other than that, I have no idea who is still playing hockey, does anyone?
Have not been to a Bison game as of yet.
And I need a new bike...
enjoy this day and every day, as you wont get it again
Oh I think my sister is on a bus trip of somekind, more to come on that...
I actually have a story regarding her/their bus trip.
It seems that there were Tornado Warnings in their area yesterday and they were stuck at a winery. Of all places to be! I know this, not because my mother told me, but because Sandra's parents called her and told her. FYI: Sandra's parents are with my parents on the bus tour (Lancaster PA area).
I'm good for 4:30 ish.
I'm fairly certain I would not want to be at a place called Dingle Bay.
No Bison games for us either... but soon.
With that said I haven't been to a Tonawanda Kardex game in a while either... how are they doing?
So much to respond to: old people cranky?? since when? The Pilafs done with tuition? Great news!! Just watch your standard of living shoot thru the roof. Speaking from experience, I know that is definitely true. Stuck in a winery? How does one survive? A new bike for my sister. I have owned only one bike in my life and that was a hand me down from John Jr. I began training yesterday for what appears to be the 7/7/18 3200. Steps that is. I have walked off the intervals from points A to B, B to C, C to D, D to E and E to F. My goal is to be able to do them all at once. based on info available to this point, there is work to be done by me to reach that lofty goal. I think that Dingle bay would have to be charming to say the least. My daughter is on jury duty today. Can't wait to see how that goes. Auntie is predicting incarceration on contempt of court charges. As my younger sister would say: more to come on that. Enjoy
Happy Thursday, or in my world pay day!
So todays work diversion is KDH, reporting for Jury Duty! She is Juror number 00001?
Not sure why all the leading zero's? Don't you just have 9 with 2 alternates?
anywhoo. Ms Kristen did not look any to happy having to serve! We, being the supportive family that we are, came up with a plethora of reasons to get out of Jury duty, for example her brother, stated, that she should explain she is prone to anxiety attacks and could not state for certain she would remain conscious through out the proceedings. JT, stated, be a proponent of the death penalty, for Jay Walking! Me, I told her we could all fly down, and she say she manages a group home and the first floor has arrived!
Poor Ms. K! Lets hope justice is swift!
Dingle Bay! google the pictures,it is beautiful! and it is the most place to surf in Ireland! Wax your board!
Im glad that we are good for Holtzapalooza next year, destination Cape Cod, at 4:30
Not sure why people drag their feet on planning this was easy peasy!
So the Tornado would not hit the Winery? And your parents did not call you because, why would you need to know? I think there are quite a few other couples on this trip as well...
Tonawanda Kardex, rebuilding year!
Wait til next year!
notice my brother and I are within one minute of each other!
Synchronized Holtz comments!
Synchronized Holtz's!!!
We should start a Bluegrass Band and that could be our name. It would be ironic because (musically) I'm guessing we WOULD NOT be synchronized. We might be the only ironic bluegrass band in the land.
FRIDAY!!! + Payday! = Super Friday!
Emma has her prom tonight and we're just relaxing at home around the fire. Tomorrow, Sandra and I are off to Niagara- on- the- Lake for a little R&R, shopping, wining and dining and (whining by me if we spend too much money?). The weather looks decent enough for a May day.
Apparently after darling daughter went thru myriad reasons why she should be excused from jury duty, and apparently a photo of the group at the last October birthday bash was central, she was, in fact, the first to be dismissed. Ah, the magic of synchronized Holtzes. Glad that everyone is having paychecks rained upon them. Always a good thing. Hope that cousin Cathy is having a great trip. Have heard lots of good things about that part of Ireland, but a cautionary word--don't eat the berries. Junior heads to california tomorrow to attend his class so there will be increased responsibilities for Auntie and I. Hope that the weather holds for our travellers to N-O-L. Speaking of weather, any updates on the winos in Pa? Enjoy the weekend all.
Happy Royal Wedding Weekend! Hope everyone is prepared for these nuptials!
Prom for Miss Emma, have a wonderful time!
Cathy is loving Ireland, she is traveling with a different group of friends have to admit I am very jealous! Will need to travel soon!
So geo's knee replacement surgery is a go for July 10th
His hope is to have his knee replaced use up all of his time and retire.
According to him, he is totally ready for this!
Synchronized Holtz's, I think the only time we are in synch is when we have things to say! Other than that no rhythm no musical talent what so ever! Kind of sad really..
Enjoy your time with your grandkids brother, as that is the best time!
Another weekend in the books. Adam made it to Pepperdine U. and is ready to begin classes. Audrey had her swim birthday party at the Y yesterday. The Warrens are on the way from Mass. for their annual May visit. Oliver opens his rec. dept. baseball season tonite so it will be a pretty busy week. The cleanout continues at 1070 and Auntie treats me as a rented mule, Have a good week. Woe is me!!
Happy Monday!
Pepperdine U! How fun! Can I get a t shirt that says PU!
Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend!
Glad AP found the pictures, that John's family was looking for!
I will ensure they are delivered!
Hope Emma enjoyed Prom!
Cathy is having the time of her live in Dingle Bay! Unfortunately all attachments sent via FaceBook Messenger I have not been able to open, so I am not getting her beautiful photo's!
Great Yankee weekend, who cares about hockey, does anyone???
Still tying up loose ends for John
Work is work, and George is counting down to his retirement!
Had a great celebration at Webster's Bistro on Saturday night, for our friend Joan who received a proclamation for her work on the History tour for North Tonawanda.
Have a great Monday!
A public proclamation for work on a history tour???? I need to hear more about that!! Dreary day today, good day to continue cleaning, I guess. Oliver lost the opener last nite altho he left after his 2 innings with a 1-0 lead. Try again tomorrow evening. Warrens arrived safely from Mass. but did have complaints about the road work. Lots of messes out there. Avoid them.
UGH to this rain, always wait til it pours to realize I need gas! brutal!
Am getting beautiful pictures from Cathy and her Dingle Bay rental house!
Maybe we need a Downeyapalooza on Dingle Bay??
thoughts? Maybe we should go international
It is a red letter day at work today, why you ask? Because yesterday I received 2 count them 2 Green K KDH Research and Communication pens, not the purple and silver, which I have to tell you I am not a fan of, but the GREEN! Thank you KDHRC!
Geo got the front grass cut yesterday, thank you George! The back will need a scythe to get through!
Was that really Bartolo Colon on the mound last night?
Have school board tonight, and rumor has it that our big discussion will be LICE!
UGH!
Other than that, just a shout out to my brother, who always does the right thing!
And his lovely wife!
Stay dry!
Gloomy Tuesday... That's okay, it's May and NOT January.
PU??? hee hee
We had a very enjoyable weekend in Niagara on the Lake. We went to a few wineries, including Gretzky's 99 that opened up last June (a nice Cabernet). Of course, we went to our favorites, Joseph's, but we were a little disappointed that they no longer carry our favorite wine Chancellor or Grand Chancellor. We still bought half a case of something. Sheesh. And then we finished the day off at Two Sister's. A lovely Estate and some pretty nice wine. It's tough to please us because Sandra and I like it dry and full and it's just not the area for it... but we found quite a few we enjoyed. And it's always fun talking to the people at the wineries.
We had Saturday lunch at Corks (how appropriate) and dinner at The Irish Harp and then Sunday lunch at Shaw's Café.
Next up: This weekend we go to Toronto for Anime North for Ms. Em and her friends. I found a few things for Sandra and I to pass our time, including vinyl record shopping and beer.
Gotta say that those Pilafs sure know how to live. Sounds like a great weekend and an even better one on tap. Nothing like that in the offing here.Looks like the high?? point will be a: 6 AM run to the airport on sunday to pick up junior from the redeye from LAX. Other than that? The cleanout continues at 1070 with the uncovering of all sorts of things. what to keep and what goes? A "T-sweater" knitted by Mama for me when I was in 3rd grade? Certainly doesn't fit anymore. A sweater that Mom knitted for Adam goes to him. He already has the hand me down bassinette. Lots of stuff along those lines. Up and down the stairs: woe is me. Down side of the week Good news.
Happy Wed! I think this is the longest week ever! So much yard work to do and not enough time to do it!
So channel 7 showed up at School Board last night to see what all the hullaballoo about our Lice issue is, and no one showed up. So that was great news!
AS it was such a positive night at school board, we hired 2 amazing principles, and lots of awards were handed out.
So there are 3 of us that always go out after the meeting to drink, we always go to the same bar, and last night we went, and there was a new bartender who coincidentally was also just hired as a clerk typist in the school district, so of course that limited our conversation, much to all out disappointment!
My nephew Jeff, lives his live to the fullest! Absolutely!
Other than that, I am in the home stretch of finishing up John's final resting place. Again thank you to my brother and sister for always stepping up!
So the marker can have 4 words, no character limit, but only 4 words.
So I am submitting Loving Son Brother Father Grandfather.
Upon further review that's 5 words. So brother is being removed, sorry!
Good luck on the continued clean out of 1070. Your heirs will appreciate your effort!
Other than that, not to much else to report on
Invited to a picnic on Sunday
Jill is doing the half marathon on Sunday
Still have not gone to a Bisons game...
enjoy your day
Happy Friday! worlds longest work week ever!
So lets see what are the things that are needed to know to be in the know...
The COT is inundated with road projects, and it is nearly impossible to get across town... Yesterday morning we got an SOS from LoreLee, Gwennie was sick, and Jill needed help, so on my way to work, I made a detour to her house, 20 minutes later, after detour after detour, I finally arrived, so note to all, avoid the COT at all costs!
Rumor has it my sister is on her way to Canada this weekend.
Cathy comes home from Ireland on Saturday.
We are still headed to Cape Cod the end of June
Geo's knee replacement is July 10th
I am entering my last year on my term on the school board, and I have to say, that I really have grown to love being on the school board, I love hearing about all the exciting things that are going on in our schools, I love all the positives, I don't care about criticisms, or the gripping when so much good and positive outweigh the negatives! So I guess I will run for re election next year, and I suppose Jenna will too!
So more to come from 431!
I suppose we also need to move forward on our Wilson/Lesniewski/Holtz/Fronczak/Woodcock-apalooza? Who is in charge of paperproducts?
Show of hands?
Work is a bust today, I am writing out my garden center list!
Thought about Mom and Dad yesterday and how they loved this time of year! It was cook out season, and the beginning of picnics, and get togethers, my sister always says, Mom and Dad served food so we would all stay, I say Mom and Dad served food, because they loved us, and you serve good food to those you love! I guess its all in how you look at things!
Enjoy this day and every day!
Happy Memorial Day!
Happy Belated Memorial Day Fam!
What a great weekend! Friday night we just worked out in the backyard trying to get things ready for Emma's party on 6/9.
Saturday we took Emma up to Toronto for Anime North. Sandra and I shopped Ossington Neighborhood, had lunch and a beer at Bellwood's Brewery and then crashed a school event so Sandra could go to the bathroom. We then went to IKEA (not a fan) but Sandra loves it there, so...
We didn't stay overnight (thank goodness) so Sunday we went to Lavacat's Nursey and Sandra was back at it in the backyard. I putzed around with chores too.
To finish off the day we had both sets of parents over for a BBQ.
Monday, I went fishing in the morning and when I came home Sandra was hard at work finishing off the backyard... what a gal!
What a weekend!
UGH to a fake Monday! Its really Tuesday, but no it isn't work wise!
Hit up 2 Garden Centers, Hi-Way Produce, and Urban Roots.
I love Urban Roots! It is stuck in the heart of the west side It is a Co Op you can become a member, and they are the most knowledgeable Garden folk I have ever met, outside of my sister of course! Took the babies, and they were very good! We tried to make it over to 5 Points, but there line was out the door, so we just headed to Athena's for Monday morning pancakes!
LoreLee has been hit with a debilitating 48 hour bubonic plague type illness.
And last night Jill got sick, she did run the half marathon on Sunday, but Monday night she was down for the count. So hopefully she will feel better today.
So Saturday I had to sign off on the grave markers for my brother. And the woman who I was dealing with who was late for our appointment, said at the very end, that we were eligible for personally signed letter of appreciation from the President of the United States, and her delivery of this news was priceless! Her grin was from ear to ear, her eyes glistened, she leaned over the counter to convey this message like I had just won the lottery, so I looked at her, and said, so I could get a letter signed by Donald J Trump, and I never say his name, and she said very over enthusiastically YES! I replied, I will pass.. I kind of felt bad for her, as she was crestfallen!
More news on my brothers funeral home front, as Niagara County denied his burial funds and I have to appeal and schedule a hearing... so more to come on that.
Other than that, not to much else to report.
Its just nice to have some warm weather!
Soooooooo...
it's gonna hit 90 degrees today. Woo Hoo! Someone better call Sandra and let her know to make extra ice cubes in the trays. She's gonna be grumpy working today (no AC at 98 ). Though, my parents dropped off a window AC unit last night that went in Emma's room upstairs.
We're nearing the end of Emma's career at MSM. Her Baccalaureate is on Saturday and she graduates on Sunday. That's it... that's all that is left. Then she takes off to Camp Pioneer for the summer to work (just coming home on the weekends).
Stay cool!
Memorial Day has come and gone. The upstairs clean out project is complete and we now have a mountain of donatable stuff in the garage awaiting pick up. The down side is that what was Amvets has apparently become Vietnam Vets and their first available pickup date is july 27. Adam was back from PU on sunday, monday was audrey girls 8th bday, today I met oli,ver and adam for breakfast to celebrate O's 11th bday. tonite he, oliver not adam, has a basebdall game, I played 9 holes after bfast this am for my May round of golf and I am officially done for the rest of the day. sounds as if the same bug that hit the twins was the one that hit atlanta this weekend too. Not much happened there. Oops, I was just reminded that I am to mow the lawn, again. everyone sounds real busy and we are looking forward to the 9th. Caroline arrives in 2 weeks and we depart for the west in 3. Welcome summer. Enjoy the days until the 4th of july because in the words of my overly optimiwtic father, that is when summer officially begins to wind down. Take care
Goooooood morning!
Thank goodness it's a lil' cooler today. Yesterday we bought a couple window shades to darken the house a little bit more (hoping that by keeping the sun out it will be cooler inside). In theory, in theory. Plus, they look nice.
Happy Fake Friday!
So George called off work today, to attend the Bisons game with Jill, Gwenn and Henry... Seems Henry was very infatuated with the players and the game, Gwenn just was interested in vendors that came to your seat and gave you food! Its also Kids day at the ball park, so I would guess they are all having a great time.
In other news, George is sooooo over working! He is down to his last 5.5 weeks, and I think he may call in sick for all of them, if he could!
Oh well, I hope the time passes quickly for him!
I thought your rents brought over an AC? That didn't cut it?
It has been very warm these last two days, glad the shades brought some relief!
So yesterday I had called Rebecca and inquired about how much money was left in John's account, and I am trying to appeal the Nyet to burial funds contribution from Niagara County, and when I called her, and she is just the sweetest thing, she said ummm Aunt Betsy, today is my birthday, and I just cant do that today.... So of course I apologized, had no idea it was her birthday, and told her it can be done another day... somedays I am so dumb!
Other than that, just looking forward to Emma's party, can I bring something?
Napkins maybe? Drinks? Cocktail Weenies?
Just let me know
Happy Friday eve, enjoy the day!
Welcome Layla Violet Wagner to the family as Grandma Linda will get to enjoy grandchild #3. All went well and 11 days early. Quite a bit cooler this AM and I suppose I should use that too get some garden work done. we will see about that. The work continues in the neighborhood to put everyone's lawn back after the gas line construction of last fall. It seems as if everyone else is complete except us. Something I said? Did?? Or just the usual Holtz positioning in the world order of things? Most likely the latter. Greek fest today? Probably not. Hope that everyone finds something fun to do this weekend.
Hoping that the weather holds for today and nc emma's graduation ceremony. How fast those four years went by. Looking forward to the official celebration next weekend,
Emma's ceremony yesterday was great! Emma looked gorgeous! It's now official!
I grilled up some goodies for the grandparents after all was said and done.
It is truly amazing how the time flew by. Family, do NOT wish your days away.
AND no more private school payments!!! Yeah us!!!
Thank goodness for the cooler weather. I can finally move again.
Yeah Uncle George!!! Woo Hoo!!!
Usually I begin my day with a blog re cap, however, today when I tried to leave for work my car was dead, so apparently when I was told when I had my oil changed, that I needed a new battery, I should have listened to them? Who knew!
Congrats to Emma! pictures on FB, looked amazing! Great Job!
Looking forward to our weekend soiree, and let me know if you wish me to bring anything?
Charlie, can you bring the pictures rescued from the attic? We are road tripping it up to Sandwich on June 21st, and will drop them off. Seems like no one else really wants them... So in trying to book a hotel outside of Hyannis Port, seems a bit pricey. So Rebecca had sent me a link for an Airbnb studio apartment, in Sandwich halfway between Rebecca and Joanna's house, and it was 95$ per night, which was pretty much half of a hotel. So I booked it, it had all 5 star reviews, was very clean, modern and updated. After I booked, I see its a basement studio apartment, so I am hoping my husband can maneuver, and you are charged a 46$ " processing fee" and also a 65$ cleaning fee! I think I still come out ahead, as I will not be in the main flow of traffic! So I will update everyone accordingly!
It was a very good weekend, Taste of Tonawanda was fun! That was held on Sunday
Congratulations, Amanda and Dan! A beautiful little girl, that she is!
Thank you to my brother for helping with the grave marker.
I am wishing 45's Presidency away, I think that is allowed, and even encouraged.
Other than that, my office ceiling is leaking, and listening to that drip drip drip, annoying!
Meeting Cathy in two weeks to hear all about Ireland!
Get through the week as best as everyone can!
Yeah! AirBnB!!! Woo hoo! Sounds like a bargain to me. Have fun.
If you would have listened to those auto shop guys and replaced a battery right then and there, you never would have gotten those extra days out of your old battery. I think you're the winner. "Take that auto mechanic. I got an extra few days out of this battery!"
The glass is always half full with nphw jff who will become even more optimistic about life now that tuition is over and done with, So U.G. is having trouble becoming work motivated now that the finish line is in sight?? Been there, done that and have the t-shirt, It will be here soon UG. Kudos to the Eagles on their decision. Shocked that the offer was rescinded when it became obvious that there would not be full, fawning attendance. Always thought that the White House belonged to the american people. Guess that I will have to rethink that. As usual, my little sister has the full social calendar. Me? Sock drawer evaluation day today? deciding whether or not to water my new grass seed, compliments of Nat. Fuel Gas?? Decisions, decisions, Oliver's team finally won a game last night. First one that we hadn't attended. Coincidence? The thought of sitting outside last night turned us both off. Hope that everyone has a great tuesday today.
Hey its Tuesday!
So we have one of the Boise Idaho gals coming into town on Fridaynight. Ms Bentli Corda, will be joining us. We are also bringing her to Emma's soiree, hope that is OK?
So our road trip to Cape Cod will include some Cape Cod League games, we will be attending on Thursday evening 5PM, The Cotuit Kettleers versus Y-D Red Sox. And then on Saturday, we will be taking in the Harwich Mariners versus the Hyannis Harbor Hawks. All this weather permitting, and both of those days there are 5 games going on all pretty much within driving distance of our Airbnb. To say that Geo is beyond excited, is an understatement.
So, I am fighting the good fight in trying to appeal the denial of burial benefits for my brother, and also fighting the VA, as they would have also paid for his funeral. to state this is beyond futile is an understatement. I think people just give up eventually, but not me, now its the principle of the thing!
Other than that, looking forward to Emma's party.
Looking forward to Cape Cod.
Looking forward to lots of stuff going on!
Enjoy Tuesday and all that it brings your way!
The Boise Idaho Gals!!! Well... camp town races! Of course they're welcome.
You guys will have a great time in MA. Cape Cod ballgames are on my bucket list. I've been wanting to go for years. I think I'm partial to Chatham Anglers.
Poor Unckie, whoa is him. Why won't his grass grow?
Say Hey its Wednesday!
Nuts to you ESPN, The New York Yankees will not be bullied by Television schedules!
Put some other team on your network! so there!
Sometimes good does triumph over not so good!
Brr, so glad I complained it was too warm! Now currently running a space heater in my office, as the warehouse is chilly!
So not to much new since yesterday, other than I have my appetizer planned to bring Saturday, I don't think the Everett's will make it Saturday, as Gary's sister is in town, and its Lexi's birthday celebration ( Cathy's daughter)
So... Cousin Cathy is putting together a Europe trip for 2019... I have to be honest I am so excited to go! Never thought I would be that person, but hey I am!
George is beyond excited for the Cape Cod league games, his bag is packed and by the back door!
I saw my sister briefly yesterday.
She did not mention her email getting hacked, maybe she is not aware?
My office ceiling is still leaking, even without the AC being on!
Other than the Eagles not showing up for their party, what else is going on?
Thinking of all the oh so long ago very brave men, that landed on the Beaches of Normandy. I still am kind of amazed that that sounded like a good idea, as having seen it first hand, you truly were a sitting duck, from anyone or any thing that was up on the bluff. I guess it all worked out the way it was suppose too...
T minus 25 days until George is done
Enjoy this chilly day, and all that it brings your way!
Wednesday? Whatcha' talkin' bout Willis?
Kidding... I've always wanted to say that on The Blob.
Hellooooooo Larkin! Great time last night. Chilly evening with The Big Mean Sound Machine (we missed David Miller). Total instrumental Jam! Sandra and Zach headed over to Hydraulic for a pizza and I enjoyed a Big Lloyd from the truck listening to some jammy sounds suckin' down a Holy Moses! Let summer begin.
Enjoy your day Fam!!!
Hey, it's Friday for all of you weekend watchers out there. Yes, the lawn has grown, it has been cut, and all is right with the world. Looking forward to tomorrow's get together with new blood from Idaho?? See you all then.
It is Friday, and I am so distracted, that finally the Washington Capitols won the Stanley cup, hip hip hooray, said no one ever!
Hockey in June, in the desert, such a abomination!
Yes we will have Ms. Bentli, with us tomorrow, so anyone who has any questions about Eagle, Idaho, ask away!
Other than that, not to much else going on.
Work is work.
looking forward to tomorrow
enjoy this day
FRIDAY!!!
Yep, me too, very distracted today... because it's FRIDAY!!!
I have soooo many questions about Idaho.
Are they a state?
Here in the US?
Have you ever seen a car before?
I can't wait to show her my toaster, she's going to freak!
How many days did it take her to get here?
So, what's Russia really like?
Does the Dakota Territory make her angry?
So... you grow potatoes huh?
What does Idaho spell backwards?
A wonderful day on Saturday. So much work and such a beautiful location. Great job by nc emma and I am sure some great experiences to come. sorry that we missed seeing Zach. Hope that Ms. Bentli enjoyed her WNY experience and provides favorable reports to the good citizens of eagle, idaho, however many of them there may be. Enjoy your week all. we have a busy one here by our standards. The high point yesterday was that auntie decided that she had a spot out back that needed a rock so we went "rock shopping". Found a very nice $10 rock at our local nursery, yes they carry rocks in a variety of sizes. Two young men loaded it into my trunk but it became my responsibility to get it out and relocate it. I may not be the same for some time to come. IHOB??? What's with that?? Who is in charge of checking that out?
Happy Monday! How do the Yankees not score a run?? Brutal!
thank you so much for Saturday! The food, the drink the company, all was awesome!
Sorry Zach was not in attendance! But work always comes first!
Ms Bentli enjoyed meeting everyone!
All the best to Ms Emma! Save the world! Someone needs too!
So our lawnmower died, half through the back yard! Is'nt that always the way!
A 10$ rock? That is a bargain!
So I have been working on a Fairy garden for the twins, and I decided Marbles would be the perfect entrance! Wrong Wrong Wrong
The twins yesterday, rolled them all over the deck, like a scene out of Home Alone, and it was touch and go to move georgie! My next project will be to glue them all together and create a marble pathway to the Fairy Door!
this week, I have the Superintendents evaluation due, so we have a meeting, I have moving up day ceremony on Friday for the middle school. Other than that not too much else going on, just the usual day to day
Again, Saturday was so much fun! Thank you Jeff and Sandra
Enjoy today
What a day on Saturday! I'm sooooo glad you guys had a nice day! We lucked out with the weather. What a day! Just gorgeous! We'll be eating mac n cheese into next year. We'll have to have a Mac n Cheese Leftover Party!!!
It was really nice meeting Bentli, she's really nice. She is now family.
$10 for a rock? A rock or a stone? Hm.
It's very important to add oil to your lawn mower every now and then (at least once a year).
I love Fairy Gardens! Sandra refuses to make me one.
Emma's friends had a very nice time. Candy and cupcakes were given to everyone!
Happy Tuesday! Half way there! (ummmm... I'm off on Friday)
We had a fun dinner with friends last night at Shore's. Unfortunately, we had to eat inside; the sandflies and cottonwood were just too much. Still a fantastic view and nothing beats laughing with friends while enjoying the lovely, refreshing creation by Egyptians.
Zach had his first Meat Dept. related injury as he came home with a condom on his thumb. He gave us the "thumbs up" and quipped "just a flesh wound".
Amazing how much rock you can get for $10. Adam needs to talk to Zach about work related injuries. His summer at Lancaster knives led to a series of work related cuts. He would say life threatening gashes. Company arrives tomorrow so today will be spent in preparation. All of those Goose Island details on line are very intimidating.
Happy Tuesday, can not beat this weather! I guess tomorrow it is suppose to rain!
Hope Ms Caroline has lots of fun while visiting, but how can she not!
The Goose Island warrior walk is epic, just wanted to share for all those that can not attend!
Neither George or I could figure out where the oil should have gone in the mower so out to the curb it went! I am sensing an influx of new mowers on the market courtesy of the North Korean economy, so I think we will be OK?
The sandflies and the cottonwood are brutal! Glad you could get inside at the shores! Sorry Zach was injured at work! If you cut yourself while cutting meat, are you reguired to purchase said product? Just curious
Work is still work
George is down to T minus 20 work days!
Ms Bentli leaves for home tomorrow, it has been a lot of fun having her!
And I think she enjoyed herself!
Other than that, hey its Tuesday!
Funny thing: Zach said he was bleeding all over the steak (I'm assuming they washed it). Which then reminded me of a story when I was cutting up onions for the soup at work and I cut my thumb. Blood all over the onion and table. Mr. Pace freaked out! "Jeffrey! You're ruining the soup!" ahhhhh ... good times.
So, this Friday Sandra and I are singing playing at a convention at Daemen. Then My buddy and I are going on a beer crawl. Gene McCarthy's for lunch and a beer, the Barrel Factory (Pressure Drop Brewery) and then finish up at Flying Bisons. Now that's going to be a fun Friday (and... NO WORK)
I remember one cook out where Grampa was cooking Salmon, and the grill fell off the barbque, and he just picked it up and put it back, but I do feel it was well within the 5 second rule.
This Friday I am attending Middle School Moving up Day, but I will definitely have a beer after that! Not even close to Jeff's Friday! But a Friday none the less!
Ms Bentli left this morning, so here's hoping she has a safe travel day!
we have Warrior Walk tonight, weather permitting
The Yankees won
North Korea is no longer a threat
And I believe that is all the news that is the news!
Nothing new in the COT.
Fathers day weekend is approaching, so to all the Dad's that make differences in everyones life! Cheers to you!
Enjoy today and all that it brings your way
I used to love it when Grampa grilled... we had the best conversations about nothing. I think it's where I get my knack for superficial talk from.
Soooooo... it's my last day today for this week.
AND THEN I have off next Friday and the Friday after that. Woo Hoo! "The Summer of Jeff" is back.
Where's Rck?
I don't wanna wish my daze away but I'm looking forward to the Hold My Beer Holtzapalooza Tour! I've already picked out my outfit for the day.
ahhh Friday, the day of the week the working folks, dream of!
The work day is always better on Friday!
Happy Fathers day this Sunday to all the Dads!
Was thinking of venturing out to a Bison's game last night, but ugh to these sandflies!
So no game
Hope Ms Caroline made it into town ok, and the schedule of events is going accordingly.
Other than that, beautiful weather is predicted!
So everyone enjoy!
Caroline has arrived, departed and is back in Hotlanta. Had a really nice time. Took her and Audrey to Seneca Falls and auburn on thursday for national park visits. 300 miles and 6 hours and they were great the entire time, friday was just caroline and we did canalside, the roosevelt inaugural site and niagara falls and audrey stayed for a sleepover. saturday was a father's day lunch/cookout, the community pool and movie nite and today she returned. Now we have get ready for our departure on tuesday. hope that all of the father/s enjoyed their day,,
s
UGH to Monday! Such a beautiful weather weekend! A quick re cap.
Farmers Market early Saturday with the Gwenn and Henry, I am trying not to call them " the twins". For strawberries, strawberries and more strawberries!
Then we took them swimming in our friends in ground pool, which they are pretty fearless. Well Ms Gwenn is, she has no safety sense and will listen to commands and them pretty much does what she wants to anyway! Mr Henry will be brave but only when he is ready! But it is pretty much 90 minutes of them jumping in and us catching them, hardly relaxing, but to quote their Momma, it does wear them out!
Friday Night I attended the "moving up" ceremony for the 8th graders to the Senior High, and that was a lot of fun! The farther away you are from rites of passage, you forget how fun they are!
Sunday, we took George swimming in the same pool! So that was fun!
He got restaurant gift cards and a lawn mower for Fathers day! Other than that, we are looking forward to our trip to Cape Cod.
Matthew John's wife had a baby girl on June 16th, Elizabeth Joy. So congratulations!, Momma and baby are both doing well.
I guess Matthew is moving to Cape Cod in August.
Other than that, you are all caught up!
Wishing my brother and sister in law, a wonderful vacation!
Travel Safe!
Enjoy the scorcher that today will be!
Cause hey, February was not that long ago!
Happy Monday!!!
Sorry Aunt Betsy.
What a gorgeous and fun weekend. We helped our friends landscape their front beds on Saturday AND thank goodness it wasn't Sunday... Yowza!!! Saturday was perfect. Sunday? A little warm for me. BUT success! It looks great!
Sunday, my 'rents came over and I shared a beer with my daddy. That was fun.
Because of last weekend's activities the last thing I could ask Sandra to do was clean up the house for Father's Day while I grilled. Nope. Couldn't do it.
So we had a slow, relaxing day trying to keep cool. We succeeded. It was very enjoyable.
This Thursday we're off to L'ville (first Butler, PA) and we'll be back on Sunday.
Good morning!
I totally took advantage of yesterday's rain. I sat outside, grilled a rack of BBQ ribs, had a beer and enjoyed some music... for a few minutes anyway.
Being the antsy type, I got up and during the heaviest rainfall and cleaned some gutters that had been neglected. Sandra of course was laughing at me and my timing.
Ribs were delicious. IPAs were delicious. It was just nice to sit outside and watch the rain fall.
Zach is REALLY getting into the World Cup. He's telling me all the side stories and keeping his old man in the loop. What a guy!
Emma is down at Camp Pioneer but had enough time to let us know her SATs were not sent over to Canisius and was in a panic. How did she get accepted and a really nice scholarship without them seeing her SAT score? Anyway, $12 later, crisis averted.
Happy Tuesday
So the saga continues with trying to get burial benefits for my brother.
If his bank account is below 1600$, I can still apply, and attend a formal hearing which has been scheduled for July 3rd? Really, July 3rd.
Well, I will attend, and plead my case!
I hope my brother began his vacation, uneventfully!
I believe they were flying to Denver today? And he had hoped to be in Idaho on his birthday, so hopefully he will log in and give us updates.
Geo used his new lawn mower today, and he loves it
He got a Crate gift from David, it was Sabre Beer Glasses and all the bar snacks you can eat, really a neat company. Comes in a crate you have to pry open.
Other than that, leaving for Cape Cod, day after tomorrow
Will keep everyone posted
Enjoy today, and this evening as it is kind of late in the day
I had a lot of work to do today, UGH to that!
Almost to half way there! Happy Hump Day!
I received a text at 5:57 AM today telling me the power was out and NOT to come in...
I arrived at 8:03 to a building that was only at 1/3 power capacity. It took two more hours to get the building to fully restored. So that was my morning. I'm not complaining.
Zach and I went to see River Whyless at Babeville last night and had a great time.
Tonight Sandra and I will be packing to head down south to L'ville. Louisville Slugger Museum, Mohammed Ali Museum, Louisville River Bats game and a dinner cruise. I can't wait!!!
MORE than half way there! I have to work today (well at least finish out the day) then we're off to Louisville with a night stop in Butler, PA to see my nieces play; Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Zach will be home taking care of the dog and we did not leave Zach much food. The dog has plenty. I kind of apologized for that last night when we noticed.
Sandra and I had a really nice walk around Hoyt Lake. She took tons of pictures, we watched the dress rehearsal for King Lear and we met a witch... that's a pretty fool evening.
BTW I completely forgot to mention that today is one of my favorite holidays of the year. Summer Solstice: The Longest Day of the Year!!!!
I can get more done today than any other day of the year.
Trip to denver, by way of chicago and las vegas was EVENTFUL to say the least. Arrived in Denver at 5AM buffalo time--not part of the plan--and I am sure that you will all enjoy the details of the story which will be part of the 7/7 presentation. Since then we have been in Casper, wy, Billings, Bozeman, Great Falls, and there is a falls there, and currently in Helena, mt. The good news is that things have improved. Hope that everyone else's travels have been fun and uneventful. Lots of cape cod and louisville stories to share I am sure. Have the diner in Eagle Idaho in my sights and will go looking for Bentli on 6/29 for lunch. Details to follow. Enjoy
Woo Hoo!!! Have fun out west and say hi to Bentli for us.
We had a great time in Louisville! No crazy stories, just fun ones.
The drive back was uneventful and enjoyable. The ride their a few more hiccups... but no big deal.
Now we're home and waiting for our next adventure.
OMG! what a weekend! So fun! re connecting with Joanna, Rebecca and Sara has been so much fun! the ride down was very uneventful, until we were the last twenty minutes of our ride, and Rebecca lives at the very end of the Military base, it is not on the base, but the road at the end of it. All our technology kept sending us to this base to drive through it, which would have taken you to Rebecca's front door!
3 different times we showed up at the guard house on the base, begging to go through, nope, we had to drive around, which we had no directions to drive around, so about 2 hours later than we hoped, we arrived at her front door!
We can not wait to go back, we watched Caleb ( Rebecca's oldest, graduate from 8th grade to the highschool) we took a tour of Sandwich, and saw all the highlights, we had a huge old fashioned Holtz family picnic at Joanna's, we roasted Lobster's with Rebecca, and just loved every minute of it!
Sara had petitioned the court to change the last name of her children to Holtz, and their new birth certificates came while we were there, just lots of fun!
My brothers adventure sounds way more interesting! Can not wait for our 7/7
Speaking of 7/7, loved the picture of bourbon sipping Sandra at the Louisville game!
And true to my brothers word, we did not catch a Cape Cod league game, as they were rained out! More reason to return!
Back to work.... UGH
Currently in Kalispell, mt. Tomorrow is Glacier NP. Things have become much more uneventful and that is a good thing. Last nite we had a baseball doubleheader, Missoula Osprey vs. Great Falls Voyagers, no, we didn't stay for both, but the good news was that it was "Senior Sundays" and our 2 seats behind Homeplate was a total of $10. An osprey flying over the stadium was cool too but the level of baseball left a lot to be desired. Still a fun event. Distances between places are, as one woman said, "significant", but the speed limit is usually 80 and I set the cruise at 87 so things move along and there is generally very little traffic. Hope that everyone is making fun plans for the 4th and it sounds as if the weekend went generally well. Keep up the good work. See you all soon.
I bet it was a hard sell to get Auntie to leave early, and miss the second half of that double dip!
No big plans for the 4th, rumor has it, that it is suppose to be Hot Hot Hot! So that will be nice!
Other than just getting back on track after our whirlwind days in Cape Cod, nothing is really new. We have a wedding this weekend to go too...
I have beer I am trying to drop off to Jeff
Geo is still on track for July 10th
Other than that, nothing else really going on in our corner of the world
Safe travels everyone, who that applies too!
Beer you say? Woo Hoo! I love surprises!
Sandra and I took it easy last night on a gorgeous cool evening. The BPO is playing for free at Bidwell Park tonight and we're hemming and hawing over that.
I have one more full day here, tomorrow, then two days off. Then I start at Mark and Andrea's Construction company July 2nd. I'm looking forward to that.
You can't beat a $5 ball game!!!
Have fun at the ballgames and say hi to all of those glaciers out there. I hear they have an icy personality.
Dinner last nite at the Brass tap. Got a pic to share with nphw jff with like 60 beers on tap. I even indulged in a huckleberry cream ale which I have to admit was really very good. Today we did Glacier Park. about 8,000 ft. at logan's pass. Absolutely stunning views. Even better than I hoped. On tomorrow to Spokane, wash and baseball.
Wait, what??? Start with Andrea and Mark's Construction Company? How did you slide that one in! Details! Wow! I have to admit I did not see that coming!
How awesome for you! You had always said you wanted to work for a small privately owned company! How exciting! Was there an ad in the paper that I missed?
Well Congratulations! You get to work with family, and Andrea and Mark get you!
No more drive to East Aurora! Who Hoo!!!
Well I cant beat that news!
On my end, I have been doing the paperwork shuffle to get Burial Assistance for my brother. This paper quest started on April 30th.
My initial request was denied, and I had to appeal, and schedule a hearing and refill out mounds of paperwork, one more time.
So yesterday I get a call from Niagara Co, that upon further review, they have overturned their original decision, and will pay the funeral home for the cost of cremation. I filled out the last of my paperwork yesterday, cancelled my hearing which was scheduled for July 3rd, and notified the kids. I guess I can put that folder away!
I love the free BPO concerts, they always come to the bandshell in the COT!
Hope you enjoyed it!
Yowza, my brother and his wife are covering quite a bit of ground!
What an exciting adventure!
Rainy today, which is good for plants!
Other than that, excited for Jeff! My sister is headed to Asheville on the 14th, and the Chihuly Glass exhibit is at the Biltmore, how exciting!
Hope she can take that in!
Enjoy today and all that it brings your way!
Huckleberry Cream Ale? Reminiscent of Genny Cream Ale!
I have 22 minutes to go and then a new chapter.
Andrea emailed me and asked if I'd be interested and then it just took off from there (best interview EVER... it involved beer, go figure).
19 to go.
I start on Monday the 2nd and I'm really looking forward to it. Andrea seems excited too.
Closer to home, close to mom and dad's. No more winter 400 travels.
17 to go.
Yes, yes, I'm a slow typer.
Happy Friday!
Hope everyone is well! So I would like to take the time and wish my big brother Chuck a most happy birthday! Not sure he could be given a gift of anything better than what he has! A beautiful wife, amazing kids, grand kids, a career that changed lives, and now traveling! Happy Birthday! I hope you have an amazing day!
Enjoy today and tomorrow for all that it brings your way!
So Amy is the last Absolut care employee?? Congrats nphw on your new assignment. Sounds like everything that you could want. Congrats also to my sister on her tenacity,. Never have I been so glad that she was sitting closer to the paper to be signed than I. There is a special place in heaven for you sis. Sitting in a hampton business office in Pendleton Oregon waiting for my wife to stir and begin the day. Actually it began somewhat earlier with a phone call from my sister Susan wishing me a HB. Wonderful and most appreciated sentiment. I do have to explain the concept of time zones to her sometime since her call was at 4:15 am local time and by the time my heart rate slowed to the point where there was a chance that I might last another year, and figured out where my phone was, it was too late to answer. But yes, I am very lucky in all things that really matter. Wed. was golf and baseball for the Spokane Indians, yesterday was my round of golf at the Wildhorse resort in Pendleton, Or. and today we are on to Boise and the search for Joe Mamma rest. in Eagle. I think that I may drink heavily and reflect back on the previous 3/4 century. Keep fighting the good fight out there and congrats once again to both of you and enjoy the weekend.
Good Lord! My sister called you at 4AM!!! She scares me sometimes!
Just know that her heart is in a good place. I think?
Enjoy your lunch in Boise!
Big baseball weekend, Sux V Yankees!
And its going to be 100 here!
So you got out of dodge at the right time!
Again, Happy Birthday!
Happy Monday!
Happy July!
And hey the year is half over!
Hope everyone had a great weekend! We had a wedding on Saturday night, that was held outside but under a tent, and I think the temperature under the tent was greater than 100!
Very nice wedding and the food was yummy
Sunday we took the twins swimming in Heather and Joan's inground pool, very fun!
Then we had a nice cook out! a very nice evening!
I am not going to complain about how scorching hot it is, cuz I'm just not.
Looking very forward to our Holtz Hold My Beer Historical Walk this Saturday
Its a short work week, and Jeff starts his new job today!
Hope all goes well with that!
Hope my brother had a very nice birthday, and he and his lovely wife get home safe and sound
So other than that, hey its July!
Enjoy these hot days!
I can't believe she called you at 4 AM... too funny.
Well, you never forget that Birthday phone call.
Yankees Win, Yankees Win, The Yankees win!!! Fun series.
We just tried to survive the heat the best we could. That's all.
We have had jacket weather every day until today. In grand junction colo today and 103. Quite a change.yesterday in Ogden Utah for raptors vs. Idaho falls chukars. Beautiful day and a fun game. Looks like hot at home and cooling for the weekend.lets hope. On to Denver tomorrow and home on Wednesday stay cool.
Jacket weather??? If you look at the entire good ole USA, it is Red everywhere, but apparently not where you are? Glad you are keeping cool! Wonderful to hear that the baseball has been good! Traveling on the 4th? Have fun! I don't think that is a family travel day, is it?
So our walk is Saturday, everyone seems very excited! Adam drew a map of the route and it seems pretty straight forward, we shouldn't get lost.. Anywhoo we are all very excited! And cant wait for the History and Hops!
So lets see, excited for a day off tomorrow
Geo is still on tract for KR next Tuesday
its been kind of hot
Other than that, not to much else going on.
Enjoy today, cus it will still be hot tomorrow
July 5th! To quote my Dad, Summer is now officially over!
Not sure why he ever thought that, or said it, but he did.
As far as our 4th celebration, George worked, Good Gary worked, and Jenna, Jill and I took the babies swimming in our friends pool! It is a heated pool and the babies just love it! The in ground pool is in the back yard of Heather's Mom, and does not get much use, it did yesterday though, and the babies just love it! So do all of us, come to think of it!
We did not BBQ, too hot, it was a Wegman's sub dinner day! Other than that, check that holiday off the list for this year!
So I asked my sister why she called my brother at 4AM, to wish him a happy birthday?
Well at first she insisted, she didn't, then I told her that he was out of town, and yes she did, so her response was well she wanted to be the first person to do so.
Makes sense, in a Sue kind of way....
So very excited for our Saturday Tour! We will bring a cooler packed with water, snacks, sun screen, and coloring books...
Hope my brother had a vacation like no other...
Hoping nephews first week on the job, was spectacular!
Hope our Atlanta Family, is doing great!
Just want to put the invite out there again, that Dan and Rebecca Holtz Clinton would very much like to host, Holtzapalooza 2019, at their beautiful home in Sandwich, Cape Cod...
Maybe we can put some dates out there now, and Rick and Stacy, Holtz-Twombley Gang, and everyone can think of a time frame that would work for all of us!
Wednesday is a bad day for me!
I know this means a lot to John's kids, and if everyone could review their 2019 calendar that would be awesome!
Other than that, hey its Thursday, but it feels like Monday because of the Holiday!
Enjoy this day and everyday all things brought your way!
Happy Friday!!!
We're looking forward to the Hold My Beer History Tour... it should be epic. Epic, I say!
Zach is working but the Emma will be there.
We will definitely look at our 2019 calendar. I go away camping in July (middle-ish) that's the only thing that would be a problem. We're planning a Disney Trip but that'll be in October. Nothing else is planned for the summer right now.
Are ya ready for some larnin'?? I can't hear you!!! I said, are ya ready for some larnin'??
See you all tomorrow
I think it is safe to say we are all ready for some Beer and Knowledge, and not necessarily in that order.
We are all pretty much packed and ready to go.
I am just waiting for the 3:00 whistle to leave!
The weather should be beautiful tomorrow!
Great news!
Does anyone know CPR? Probably should have asked that awhile ago, but just trying to have all bases covered!
We are planning a trip to Disney in March next year, and both Jenna and I are up for re election. The ideal time for a Cape Cod visit per the locals is before the 4th of July. So we can discuss further when other families chime in
So looking forward to tomorrow!
Thanks for all the hard work brother!
Are ya ready for some walkin' ??I can't hear you!!! I was up all night practicing my walking. I am SO ready!!
Happy Monday! says no one ever!
So how fun was Saturday, show of hands. Just as I suspected, everyone had a wonderful time! The beer, the company, the history, the beer, it was all wonderful!
Thank you so much to my brother for putting it all together and leading the way!
It was a wonderful afternoon! I know the twins celebrated the day by going home and promptly going to bed! Ummm me too!
We all do things for each other, as that is what families do, but this was so much fun! I hope my brother had fun, as well!
Other than that, on Saturday evening there was a fundraiser at the long homestead that had great bands and 3$ beers! That was fun as well!
Sunday, there was the art show on the river walk, and did everyone see the story about the little boy who pulled over the sculpture in a Cincinnati Museum, and the artist is suing the family for 30,000.00$ to repay him for the ruined sculpture?
Apparently the Mother was not supervising???
So yesterday at the art show, yup you guessed it, I had Henry and he took off running and stepped on a painting on one of the artists who for some reason displayed her work on the ground. She was nice and we did not have to buy her ugly work!
so off for a few days as we figure where geo will convalesce!
enjoy this glorious weather!
Hey Hey its Wednesday!
So yesterday was a total blur! Sitting for 10 hours, was mindless and then I had schoolboard, which was our reorganization meeting, which is such a long meeting, as everyone gets sworn in and reappointed, so yes, yesterday was a blur!
So George did very well yesterday, just a few minor bumps in the road, nothing serious, but things took a little longer than expected. But he did call me at 5AM to tell me he had a great nights sleep???? In spite of the Yankees loss!
so we will see what today brings!
Other than that, not to much else new to report..
The twins are getting ready for pre school...
Kind of makes me chuckle as our gwennie is quite the fashionista, and likes to wear certain things, and St Francis pre school, has a dress code. So kind of anxious to see how this works out!
Other than that, just trying to get George home, and well as soon as we can!
We have Warrior Walk Wed tonight, and its Clinton Park, which is great walk!
Enjoy today and all that it brings your way!
Thank you all for your prayers, well wishes, phone calls and texts! And just showing the love! It was soooooo appreciated!
Glad to hear that all went well with UG and his surgery and hopefully he is well on the way to a quick mend so that he can return to his stroller pushing that he does so well. I am gradually returning to full strength after Saturday's marathon. Everyone seemed to hold up well through our long walk. We went to Chautauqua for the day yesterday. Weather was perfect. Don and I golfed while Auntie and Bonnie shopped, dinner at Ellicottville Brewery near Ashville was good and I am sure that my nphws would have been far more appreciative of the craft beers than I, but beer is beer, and always tasty on a warm summer day. Another weekend almost at hand and here's to hoping that there are lots of fun things plbbanned. Looks to be a lot warmer than last so i am thinking that we had a prime day last Sat. Enjoy it all folks. Keep rehabbing UG!
Happy Hump day to everyone who is still a clock puncher!
Yowza it was hot over the weekend! All of this high humidity, suffocating heat, has prompted requests for a new furnace and central air installation at 431!
And then last evening was so nice! Beautiful breeze, canal fest parade, just a nice evening
My sister is still in Asheville, and have not heard how that is going, so hope she is having a wonderful time!
Other than that, Hope my brother and his lovely bride had a wonderful Anniversary!
Just think two weeks from today is August 1 !
Other than that, not to much else to report on, just taking care of George!
enjoy today
G'day
I'm practicing up on my Australian.
Last weekend was Allegany SP and this weekend is Trumansburg, for the Grassroots Festival. The Summer of Jeff continues!!! I leave tomorrow after work - returning Sunday night.
The Hold My Beer History was amazing! I'm still telling my friends about it. Sooooo... what do we talk about next year? We should start planning.
Got a call from the twins this Am, ours, not yours, and they are getting excited about their upcoming trip to WNY on sunday, Things have been quiet here but I am sure that they will get a lot busier, How is UG coming with his rehab? Last weekend was brutal. We went out to colden lakes for music on sunday but didn't even make it thru the first set before we had to move to the air conditioned inside, That is a first. Felt bad for the music makers. They were suffering from the heat. nphw is practicing his Australian?? Must be a story there. Trumansburg?? Now that is a blast from the past. My old stomping grounds. Hillendale golf course. Quite a few bars "downtown". Taughannock falls park. Enjoy nphw.Do take care all
Happy Thursday! Canal fest is almost over, this heat seems to have taken a step back, I think til tomorrow anyway, and UG is still using his walker.
I understand that Stacy has an interview today, so lets hope it goes her way!
UG, has been doing better everyday, stronger, and a little more mobile everyday!
What has become so evident, our house is NOT set up, for any type of rehab.
No first floor shower, door frames are small, etc...
So lots to work on, as age just keeps creeping up.
Jim Kelly, on the ESPY's, did everyone see that? Yea, that was emotional!
So other than that, I hope the twins flight goes well, and their time in EA, is uneventful and fun fun fun! For everybody!
Other than that, enjoy today, have fun this weekend nephew
Hope the career change is working out for you!
Good Luck Stacy, hope you get the job!
Enjoy this day, and all that it brings your way!
G'day! Yep, lernin' Australian is hard... it's all in the happy delivery and nod of the head when you say it.
ITHACA! My kind of town! Unkie nailed it. Sandra and I have camped Taughannock Falls SP. Nice hike, beautiful falls, nice campground. Just a gorges area. See what I did there? Kristen would giggle.
Soooooo... my weekend will be filled with brothers and beards. That's just the bluegrass music scene these days.
Twins arrived yesterday and are settling in, Looks like canalside and maybe beaver island today, Pizza party last night with the cousins and an eventful rocket launch, yes, a rocket launch. Seems as if Oliver got a rocket for xmas from one of his aunts/cousins?? insert Kochs here?? (any admissions here?)and yes, as advertised, it does go 600' into the air. Problem is, the launch crew did not allow for the wind factor, chaos ensued tracking down the parachuting rocket with terrorized dogs reacting,etc..etc. Film footage definitely needed on this. Hope that everyone else had a good weekend. Updated reports will follow, Enjoy the week.
Happy Monday!
Just a thought here brother, lots of news reports that Olcott beach is clean, and open for business! As that is an old stomping ground, you can always take the girls there as well? Just a thought.
Glad the girls arrived safe and sound, and enjoyed their plane ride!
What I wouldn't give to have been a fly on the wing for that trip!
A rocket? Who would give such a gift?
I am sure a stray drone captured it all! And will show up on You Tube.
Geo gets his staples out today, so hopefully he will be more mobile, after they are removed.
And mercifully CanalFest has come to an end!
Which is wonderful news!
Other than that, last full week of July, always amazes me how the summer flies by!
And January, Feb and March, drag...
And for those of you who don't follow the White House on Twitter, ( my brother) lets just say, it was a tweet for the ages during the middle of the night!

Art Park got pounded last night with Thunderstorms... I was a drowned rat. As soon as I got home I hopped in a hot shower. I didn't get to see Gov't Mule, but we kind of saw the opener; Lucas Nelson. They were pretty good.
Tonight is Larkinville... the Summer of Jeff continues!!!!
Matthew Holtz is coming to town on his way to Cape Cod. Keep him in your prayers for safety. He just with his boys. His wife and baby flew there.
Tonight: The Town Pants at the Tralf... yeah Summer of Jeff!
Well it sure sounds like a lot of great stuff going on in the northtowns. Way to go nphw jff! Lots of good music and fun events. Had a good final day yesterday. Hershell museum was free and the girls enjoyed the rides. Old Ft. Niagara was fun. Hadn't been there since Austin's graduation. They thought that N.falls was OK but it was a hot walk to get there and they didn't seem overly impressed. Girls are safe and sound back in Hotlanta and Auntie is asleep in the chair downstairs. Glad to hear that UG is on the mend. Must be gallbladders going around. Friend Don was rushed by ambulance from Chautauqua to have his removed. HB to good Gary and hope mom heals quickly/ enjoy the garden walk.
I hope your friend Don is okay?
We had a fun, fun weekend. We relaxed out in the backyard on Friday, 2 Garden Walks and Sunday evening grilling. Delish!
I think Sandra and I are looking forward to a quiet week. I'm sure things will change but not much on the calendar this week.
Maybe I'll take advantage of this time to complete a couple chores. SO! Huge shout out to my dad. Saturday he helped me rewire one of my outlets in the kitchen... now Sandra happy.
And comment #200 is all mine. Relatively quiet weekend out here now that our company has returned home, hard to believe that they are back in school this week or that bills training camp is underway. welcome to august, bisons are home on thursday for a day game, perhaps? Meeting my sister for lunch on friday, hysterical stumble part two scheduled for sat, so all in all a fairly busy week. Did cousin Mathew make it in on sunday? Sorry that we couldn't make it. Friend Don is on the mend. Hope that the Everett family and UG are doing well, take care
