A picture is worth a thousand words and memories we will forever cherish.
Left to right:
Lillian, Momma, Fred, Grandpa, Corrine, and Bessie.
Our cousin posted this picture on social media. It was the first time many of us had seen this. We questioned the year, Eleanor thought 1930 (but, grandpa would have been 12). She checked the back of the photo and no date was indicated.
Later on in the evening, still we discussed it. I told Eleanor that I thought it was 1943. Gramps looks to be in his military uniform. Eleanor asked what made us think that year, we explained. She messaged us back and said she looked at the photo again and there was a date, June, 1943.

«Oldest ‹Older 201 – 314 of 314I knew that nphw would grab 200. Travel safely and enjoy the day. A most happy day to all and don't overindulge, too much anyhow.
Another holiday in the rear view mirror with xmas coming on fast. Got our schedule of holiday concerts and other events filling the calendar. All is good. Hope that everyone had a great thanksgiving. Things went well here. Everyone seemed to get enuf to eat and the Bills win was a great dessert. hope everyone has an excellent week. next stop, 12/21. Thank you nphw.
December 5th???
Snow, cold, wind, snow...
Sandra and I are off this weekend to Belhurst Castle to celebrate our 27th Wedding Anniversary. This weekend's hi-lights include, Jingle All The Way Wine Tour and The Blind Boys of Alabama. Yee Doggie!
A mere 27 years, seems like only yesterday, Great memories of a happy day and a wonderful wedding reception. Enjoy your celebration nphw and missus. Sounds as if you have a great plan in place. Go Bills!!
Raise your hand if you're getting snow? Check.
Snow blowing episode number two yesterday. ah yes, a winter wonderland. what's not to like about winter and WNY?? Holiday season is definitely upon us. Tod ay at 2 is Benny's concert at his school. At 4:45 we have Oliver's first modified b-ball game at Iroquois and at 7 is Audrey's winter concert at the H.S. Can't wait to see her do battle with the violin. Tomorrow we head to Batavia for dinner with our Rochester friends and Sat. we will be celebrating b-day #95 with Mother Bunts.By our standards a most busy time period. Looks like the menu is set for the 21st. Yum, can't wait. Until then, everyone stay safe.
What a great day on saturday. so much thnx to nphw and his spouse for putting on such a wonderful get together. everything was as advertised, but I don't recall seeing the Cheetos. Other than that, it was perfect. Seems like we got my sister up to speed with her i-phone messaging and that is a good thing. Thanks again nphw jff. a wonderful way to start the holiday season.
Merry Christmas to all. Hoping that everyone has a most enjoyable day.
Happy New Year - ish!!! Have a fantastic 2020 Family
Howdy !!!
We are deep into the New Year now. Sandra's in North Carolina for work spending time with NASCAR folk (I'm jealous) and the "kids" are staying up til 4 AM (ahhhhh... memories).
Well it has been awhile. Sorry nphw since you and I are apparently the only ones still posting but anyhow, we are in Gainesville, fla heading for the keys. weather has been great. We had a few days and missedmas with K and her family including the new puppies. Nice to be able to thaw out a little, altho the weather in wny hasn't been all that bad. Traffic hasn't been horrible and hopefully will continue that way. Happy New Year to all and travel safely sandra.
two in a row from me. Heading to the Keys today. 90 degrees yesterday with record heat. Usually any records we would see would involve record cold, so not complaining. Hard to watch the playoff games with the bills out, but Kristen and Eric gave us a list of must visit beach bars so we will have to push thru. Enjoy the football.
Nice!!!! Enjoy the sun!
Hopefully you can make it through the list.
Sandra and I are throwing her mom a retirement party tonight at Wine on Hertel. I think she's looking forward to that. 78 and she finally can settle down into retirement. Good for her.
Both Zach and Emma have late classes tonight at Canisius but they'll be able to join us later.
Back in WNY after a most enjoyable time away. Weather was fantastic until it wasT time to leave.Today the iguanas were falling out of the trees so it was best not to have that to worry about. Fun in "coldlanta" with the kids on MLK day. Drove in from cinci today so I am ready to head to an early turn in. Patti showed me the facebook stuff from Sandra's mom. Good for her!! A far cry here from the 80;s of our last week but, que sera....
Unckie and Auntie are back!!! Woo Hoo! Glad you guys had fun and the weather was beautiful.
Rumor has it "Climate Change" is affecting Buffalo in a positive way. So, pretty soon you won't have to leave to be warm. Buffalo will be the hotspot for Winter Warmer Daze.
Getting readjusted to life back in WNY. Reintroduced myself to my snow blower the other morning which is always a lot of fun. Meeting up with the Fixxitts for lunch on friday to celebrate the mister's birthday. I personally always look forward to his catching up with me numbers wise. Misery loves company i guess. Other than that, more of the same. Take care and stay warm.
And a Happy Groundhog Day to all. A brand new month is upon us and I have embarked upon a new quest, and I may have to throw down the gauntlet and challenge my niece and nephew on this one. Auntie shared with me a post on facebook and since I don't do facebook this was new territory for me, of the list of Buffalo's best?? dive bars. With the Village Inn on Oliver st. on the list, one of my favorite all time haunts, it only seemed appropriate to visit them all. I am off. Would this be something that I could get feedback/competition from family members on what would seem to be right up the family alley?? let me know your thoughts. i have a hunch that I may be way behind on this already, but i will do my best.
And, to further elaborate on the above, there are only 50 on the list and I already have been to four of them. I may complete this goal before the week is out....
Well... I'd have to see the "Dive Bar" list.
I will say this. I have been going to dive bars for years now AND I actually write up a little something about them.
It would be interesting to get another person's perspective.
Ok, So I'm assuming I found the article:
Here's where I've been:
Adolf's Old First Ward
Dalmatia Hotel
Eddie Brady's
Essex St Pub
Founding Fathers
Frizzy's ??? (I think)
Kelly's Korner
McGarret's (when it was No Names)
Mr. Goodbar
Nine-Eleven Tavern
Swannie House
The Old Pink
Tudor Lounge
Wiechec's Lounge
Broadway Hotel
Caputi's Sheridan Pub
Devlin's Duece
Klimek's Tavern
Witter's Sports Bar (Soos')
19 and possibly 1 or two more... like Old Village Inn (I think I've been) and Ryan's in NT.
You have the list and are WAY ahead of me, but I will focus my efforts. founding fathers must be on your list too. We should probably institute some sort of review system. I knew that you wouldn't let me down..
Yep, Founding Fathers is right under Essex St. Pub.
Most of these places have good wings and was a cool place inside. But I don't need chandeliers and table cloths.
To note: Sandra can't eat at many of these places so I would add most are not GF Friendly.
My favorites:
Founding Fathers: The owner/ trivia guy is super friendly and was great to talk too.
9-11: Great Wings if you like waiting an hour and a half, no lie.
Dalmatia Hotel: Great Wings, cheap beer.
Adolf's: Great Wings, good beer selection Great place.
Kelly's Korner: Great food, good prices.
Tried kaz's and sneakers in blasdell after the movie today, but neither had food, altho they basically let you bring in food from the outside, new to me. The research will continue as we compile our own list. i knew that you had done founding fathers. i was there years ago when we were looking for food between games during the NCAA tourney. Good to know about Kelly's
There are a few that I left out.
Like Swannie's, one of the oldest (arguably THE oldest tavern in Buffalo). Very cool place, bar food, outside seating when it's warm.
Broadway Hotel in NT, very cool old building, great wings, cheap beer and music.
I'll try Kaz's soon.
Made it to gene mccarthy's on sat. nite but so busy that we couldn't get a table. Tough finding a place to get in and finally wound up at Pearl st. Any more details on the 22nd? Looks like a bit of winter weather heading our way. Looking forward to seeing everyone.
Sounds as if there is a plan in place for Sat. Until then, not much going on out here. Looks as if we will be doing some babysitting this week as the kids are off for winter break. Did get another chance to use my snow blower on friday morning and boy it was COLD out there. Thank goodness that it has warmed a bit. Stay well and don't plan any trips to china.
Rain, wind and cold right now... that's a Dead song BTW.
Yep, Saturday is in the calendar.
Gene McCarthy's can get hairy some nights. You could've gone right across the street to the Barrel Factory. Its a great place and food at The Cantina is good.
Hope that the Fixxitts had a most enjoyable anniversary celebration. 55 years. Quite an accomplishment. I remember coming home from college for the ceremony. Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow. Until then...
Until then...
if I had a nickel every time I heard that.
had a great time yesterday, as always, with lots of laughs. We sure did fill that room, 20 strong, did the count. Good chicken wing info from the nphw which will be put to good use. Almost thru Feb. and that is always a good thing. be careful out there...
Well our blizzard and 2-3 feet of snow has, to this point, been windy and 2-3 inches of snow. Guess that I shouldn't complain too much though. Auntie spent a quiet day yesterday but did enjoy receiving all of the good wishes sent her way. Thanks to all who remembered. Back to normal, whatever that is, today. Hope that my sisters enjoy safe travel and a good time.
Sunny outside... I think spring might be coming. Sunny and 50 forecasted for Sunday. That would be nice.
The baseball season hasn't even started yet and the Red Sox are 12 games behind the Yankees already. I love it! Go Yanks!
At least there are games to be watched and we are a week into March. Self imposed isolation awaiting the arrival of cvid. hope that all is well out there for all. Keep smiling!!
We have an escape route if Coronavirus visits Pickford. Plans were just finalized last night. It involves a six pack and a full tank of gas.
so much for games to be watched. Can you believe, ya, I guess I can, the luck of Geo and Betsy to arrive in fla for 2 weeks and have the entire state close down?? I guess the best bet for action would be to find a nursing home and sit and wait for the ambulances to arrive. High point of my day now is watching espn to see how they are filling programming for four channels with no sports of any kind to report on. stocked up on beer wine and rum and will attempt to report on self quarantin/bender. Everyone needs a plan...
I feel so bad for Aunt Betsy and Uncle Geo... a dream vacation of Spring Ballgames canceled... Grrrrrrrr
Talked to my sister and wished her a happy birthday. Apparently the mister was prepared to take her out for lobster for her celebration and was quite angry that the restaurants were closed. so i guess that it was going to be faux lobster from Long John Silver. Certainly are strange times. Hoping that my little sister succeeds in getting back from Fla. w/o incident. Take care and stay safe.
Glad to hear that Auntie B. is safely back in WNY. Hard to believe that it was four weeks ago that we met up for dinner in a place like many others are currently shut down. I don't recall anyone predicting that but I may have missed the conversation. Would never have believed that so much could change so quickly. Are the pilafs considered essential personnel?? I know that we aren't and as plus 70 have apparently been banned from setting foot outside the door. On a happier note, assuming that there is an NFL season at some point, I can't wait to see pretty boy in his Tampa Bay uni. Stay safe all.
Can you believe Brady went to the Buccaneers? It has to be because there is no state income tax in Florida, it's the only reason you would do that. Let's all hope it turns into a Broadway Joe Disaster II.
Coronavirus Day ??? Hm? When did it start?
I've been working, feeling really good about myself and trying to get free hugs. Which let me tell you, is not easy.
I'm really having trouble counting to 20 seconds washing my hands.
Opening Day today. One of my favorite days. Think I'll count to 20 while singing happy birthday while pretending to wash my hands. Oh, the things that we can come up with to occupy our time. thank God that this is all going to be over with by Easter.
Opening Day, my 2rd favorite Holiday of the year; only following my birthday.
I saw in the Mock Standings that the Yanks already have a 20 game lead over Boston.
Leave it nphw jff to, in times of crisis, start fires a burnin'. no wonder he isn't getting any hugs. he wouldn't be getting one from me. 20 games indeed, with Mookie hitting for Boston the way he is??Besides, all of the yankees would be on IR by now.
And I want to wish my little sister a Happy birthday. I know it is not the best of circumstances to be celebrating, but I hope that she finds a way for a bit of fun today. I can still remember how much Mom was concerned about an april 1 birth and how she "willed herself" to make sure that it didn't happen. Way to go Mom!! Hope that all is well with everyone.
Are we having fun yet?
I'm going squirrelly... I'm bored. I can't even do house projects because I refuse to stand in line and have Home Depot tell me I'm allowed in the store now. I guess I'll just count my penny collection again.
Good to see that you are still out there nphw. I did find time in my busy schedule to go thru and catalog all of my golf scorecards, and I am sure that you will be pleased to hear that, bad news first, you are in 6th place in regard to the number of rounds that I have played with you, but the good news is that 3 of the people ahead of you are deceased. So with my "streak" officially-officially over, there is room for you to move up, that is assuming that golf courses ever reopen. Back to your pennies...Time now to reorder my golf ball collection based on alphabetizing names of clubs selling the balls. carry on
I'm okay with being in 6th... I'm just glad I made the list.
I went through my concert tickets yesterday and put them in order. Unfortunately in my youth a lot were lost (not discarded).
Orderliness is next to Godliness, or so I am told. Looking for stuff to arrange, and i am sure that your mother threw out those valuable concert ticket stubs.
Probably... or I threw up on them?
Rices are still in a pretty decent mental state. We're bored but not getting on each other's nerves (of course I'm just guessing). I haven't seen anyone in the house for 4 days.
another ten days have slid by since my lost post. How time does fly when you are having fun. Hope that everyone out there is enjoying their early retirement. News?? Let's see? There was a draft and I guess that I am pretty happy with the results. Now let's see if there is a season to get these guys on the field. stay well all.
Wow!! It's May !! How different everything seems! Viva la difference!! Holding on by a thread. A belated Happy Anniversary sis. Hang in there all.
Good Lordie! Where does the time go? It seems like only months ago that it was April 30th.
It looks like it's just you and me know Unckie. I get you all to myself.
Rice kids are freaking out with Finals week being online and Sandra is getting PO'd with work.
It seems I'm the only happy/ content/ unaware? person in our house.
Hoping that Emma and Zach successfully navigate the exam season. Everything so unusual in so many ways. Losing out on so much of the college experience as so many are losing out on the school experience in general. You never miss it until it is gone. Did get a chance to sing and wish darling daughter a most happy birthday today. Go out and make a snow angel. You don't always get a chance to do it on May 9.
So True! The snow looked totally amazing the other day. We are truly blessed here in WNY to see winter for 11 months. What a blessing.
Emma's done with school. The semester is over and it looks like she'll be on the Dean's List again. Zach has one more project to go.
Sandra's patience is wearing thin at work and I'm still completely oblivious to what's going on around me.
Oblivious is a gift. I don't believe it though. A little bird told me about parents being pizza bombed the other nite so that sounds like being really on top of things. My favorite son was in and, thankfully, out of the hospital over the course of the last few days so that made things a bit more interesting. Not too sure how much more interesting I can handle. Would much prefer a bit more boredom in my life. even Korean baseball is losing its charm. Not sure who to root for. suggestions?? way to go nc emma. any chances of camp counselling this summer, or is that off the table? Hoping...
Camp Counseling is a no-go this year... Both Zach and Emma are student teaching for BOCES this summer (if everything goes as planned).
We heard about Adam's (COVID) and was praying for his health. We're soooooo glad everything turned out well.
All those Korean teams look alike... I have no idea who to root for. Sorry.
Sooooooo...no student teaching this year. Both were looking forward to it.
Zach for the experience and Emma for the money.
Que sara sara
So two weeks ago it was record cold and yesterday it was record heat. Next will probably be raining frogs, Whats not to like about 2020 so far. Feel so badly about losing out on the student teaching, Probably the only part of the college experience that i truly enjoyed, Maybe next year??? Hope, hope. actually drove in to tonawanda today to visit the cemeteries. Grabbed a takeout at squire's and with a few beers parked and watched the river go by. not like the submarine races of years gone by, but still a nice break in routine and the heat. Birthday weekend for oliver and audrey. may challenge him to a race, but with masks, but not sure how to handle it, Quite a Memorial Day. One for the books. Take care
We has dinner down by the river twice last week. Truly enjoyed the peace and serenity before all hell broke loose over the weekend. Thank goodness we at least got in our quiet moments.
2020 is officially the worst year ever.
Once again, great minds run in the same channels. We too had lunch at Niawanda park last wed. Picked up some carry out from Squire's and enjoyed the view. a very pleasant afternoon. Talked to my older sister this AM in an attempt to confirm the rumor that mr. fixxitt has taken to walking down Nash rd. in old clothes, looking suitably pathetic, in an effort to pick up some spare cash.Sis claims untrue but I have my suspicions. enjoy our times.
Things seemed to be quiet in Buffalo last night (not talking about the lightning storm) so now we can concentrate on COVID again... thank goodness. I missed my dear friend.
Back to the weather; Two words: WOW! The lightning was beautiful and intimidating, incredible. I hope EA got off easy.
Sandra and Emma have hair appointments on Thursday, they are beyond excited.
We did miss the storm part but the lightning was very impressive, and for quite a long time. We finally broke our exile and actually went out to the lake on friday. Went to Turtle Joe's deck for lunch. Wasn't horribly crowded and we were able to distance. Can't begin to tell you how enjoyable it was to finally get out and have a few drinks and what was a decent fish. Surprised at how many people were in the water. An early HB to nc emma. Enjoy your day and make your folks take you out to dinner. Almost 13 weeks was way too long for us.
13 Weeks! Seems like just yesterday. Just another pebble in the river of my mind.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY EMMA!!!!!
Huh? Another storm last night; just a mini one.
And just like that it goes from 93 to 69 degrees.
Unckie,
Have you ever tried Bavarian Inn in Shepherdstown, WV?
We were supposed to be there this week on vacation but we canceled 2 weeks ago. They just opened up on Sunday. It's close to Antietam and harper's Ferry.
Yes to Bavarian Inn. always make it a point to catch lunch there if we are in the area, but it has been more than a few years now. Beautiful area and yes, lots to do. hope that you can reschedule your trip. Happy Father's Day early to all!!
Happy Opening Bass Season / Father's Day !
Already made our reservations for Bavarian Inn for 2021... God willing. Oh boy, now I went and did it.
Hope that all of the fathers out there enjoyed their day. Mine was most pleasant, altho, quiet. Talked to kids and grandkids and tried to keep cool. And another week begins. Make the best of it and rest assured that the bass will all stay safe.
Happy Monday/ Day After Father's day!
MAN! It was hot yesterday . Good Lordie! I've got nothing to report... we had a lovely Saturday, grillin n chillin', with the fam.
What a gorgeous week we had. Cooler temps equaled light spirits and beer consumption.
We had dinner at The Remington on Monday and going to The Place tomorrow with friends after a Buffalo walking tour through Elmwood Village.
Lunch yesterday at Charlie's Boatyard at the outer harbor on the deck. Lots of bad stuff in other parts of the country. Please keep it away, Enjoy
another trip around the sun completed, as jimmy buffet would sing and thanks for all of the good wishes. Trip to Avon to play a round of golf, lunch at Tom Wahl's, one of my favorite places and a little time spent at Conesus Lake watching the ducks swim around. All in all, a pretty good day. Not what I had envisioned, but not horrible. Another month of more of the same??
We used to play Buffet's, Trip Around The Sun. Our band was Dan and Friends and Sandra sang it. Great song.
Happy Pre- Independence Day!!! A long weekend (does it really matter) Enjoy!
best part of my bday celebration was the shout out from my nphw acknowledging my savvy social media presence. Thanks for paying attention nphw jff. And a happy fourth to all as summer starts its slide down hill
so was the 4th on the 3rd or the 4th, and in any event did it really matter?? Hoping that everyone got their sparkler lit and found a way to enjoy.
I just hid.
It sounded like Beirut in my neighborhood.
I don't know about anyone else, but it was sure hot out this way last week. How hot was it? It was so hot that the robins were keeping their worms in a refrigerator. Now that is hot. Here is to a cooler week.
Just completed The Annual Father's Day Only Allegany Camping Trip with "the kids" (Ages 17 - 26); year # 21. Incredible that they all still want to go. We had a great time and even a Tornado Warning. Fun, fun,...
Looking forward to our get together at the river today. will definitely be, for us, the social event of the month, or perhaps last four months. Film will be provided. Glad to hear that the camping trip went well. You see what happens nphw when you get "a streak' going? Looked to see nc emma at last nite's sit in at Canisius, but didnt' see her. another weekend is upon us, right?? Go for it!!
Emma said all went well at the Canisius Protest. She rewarded herself with a fancy milkshake from Allentown afterwords.
Brutally hot out there today.
I went to Cooperstown HOF with 3 of my buddies on Saturday and stayed overnight. We all had a great time.
And a happy August, also traditionally known as the month of Jeff, to all. Another weekend is at hand and coming off the hottest month, not just july on record, the question is, what do we do for an encore?? There is baseball, but you better watch quick before its gone, bubble wrapped NBA, and the NHL, really?? kicks off. I rely on my nephew to help me to live some semblance of life. And an early big HB to you nphw!!!
Happy Birthday Month to ME!!!!
Thank you for the birthday wishes Unckie.
We're off to the ADK on Saturday for the next week. Every vacation leading up to this one we canceled, soooooo... yeh, I'm looking forward to it.
All 4 of us... it should be a hoot.
Family vacations--yeah! Take advantage of them while you can. Here's hoping for great weather for your adventures. Quiet in the southtowns. At the counsel of Mr. fixxitt, I will be embarking on a garage renovation project, for me at this point, a large undertaking. Reports will follow, hopefully. Celebrated number one son's b day last nite and it was good to see everyone. travel safely
I wished Adm a Happy Birthday via Facebook (not that he'll ever see it).
I hope the gathering was fun.
Had we been in the ADK last night, we would've been washed out by Hurricane Isaias. It's all about timing... incredible.
And another weekend is upon us. I have spent the last week endeavoring to rejuvenate my garage and have discovered many things, I found out, the hard way, why so many people who came to give estimates for the job, never got back to me. Also, I am not as young as I once was. And, things are always a lot more difficult than you picture them to be. All in all I keep hoping for the shoemaker elves to appear some night to complete the task, but so far, not happening. At any rate it is keeping me off the streets. And yes nephew, it is always about timing.
We're back from the ADK. What a great vacation!
The beauty, relaxation and chill factor is just what we needed. We rented a pontoon boat one fantastic day and scooted around the lake taking in a gorgeous view.
I'm humbly back from a weekend golf outing with my high school buddies. We golfed down at Stonewall Jackson Resort in WV, an Arnold Palmer Course. I lost 2 boxes of balls and all the confidence I ever had in myself in being a man. Arnold pulled my pants down, spanked me and then told me to go stand in the corner (WHILE wearing a silly hat). The only good thing about my rounds of golf is I NEVER landed in a sand trap (which were plentiful). What I did do though is lose balls in the non-retrievable rough / jungle faster than a jackrabbit on a date.
I lost balls in the fairway. The Fairway!!! So... needless to say my lost balls accounted for a unforgiving and unmentionable score.
Nephew, you deserved better.. Just want to wish the b-day boy, and he knows who he is, the best day possible. Would offer more, but these dilated eyes, just back from eye md do not permit at this time. Enjoy the day !!
Thanks for the birthday wishes. I had a fantastic day.
Emma's back at school. Zach is taking a semester off (during COVID)
And another weekend is almost here. Sept. and a week until the Bills begin?? I have had no concept of football at all. Baseball is almost as confusing. Who is in first?Who is playoff elgiible? does anyone really care with a 60 game season? Finished the garage project out here, renamed the Gary Richard garage for the input. Need some time for recovery now. It has been a glorious summer weather wise and hoping for more of the same. Stay safe and healthy at school nc em.
And a Happy Labor Day to our many followers out there. Here's hoping that everyone had as enjoyable a summer season as I, filled with so many special events, trips and get togethers. it will be hard for the fall to match up with the spring and summer, but i FOR one have only the greatest optimism. Enjoy this special day where the weather matches the mood perfectly.
We just had a fantastic Labor Day weekend with friends in Cape Vincent on the St. Lawrence. I went fishing, we did a brewery, distillery, restaurants, shopping... fun, fun weekend.
Now back to the work grind.
half way thru the month. Hard to believe, but at least we have gotten a football season underway and I confess that I never saw that happening. Nice recognition for Canisius college. Hope that all is well with our resident student there. Plans to meet up with my sisters tomorrow and hoping that the weather will cooperate. Take care all.
Howdy!
Back from my weekend trip to the ADK and camping on Lows Lake. 28 degrees Friday and Saturday morning when we woke up. Brrrrrrr.
We paddled 4 hours to our site from Bog River Lower Dam, set up camp and went fishing.
The fishing was great.
Chilly nights but we had a raging fire to keep us warm.
sounds as if the Adks and the pilafs are an ongoing love affair. Channeling our ancestors as you battled the elements, much to your credit. I am guessing that all of that helped the beer to stay cold. I thought that perhaps the work "game face" was back on after Labor Day, but perhaps not. Keep up the good work!!
Just 1 Pilaf, Sandra would never do a camping trip like what I did. 4 hour paddle to campsite, sleep in a tent, fish for supper, eat army meals... nope. She stayed home.
had a fun meet up on wed. with my sisters, my b-i-l and the twins at Niawanda park. A beautiful day. Not the Adks but as close to the great outdoors as I can handle. Actually have plans to meet up with nphw eric s. today for a round of golf at Brighton. We will see how that goes. A report will follow. Hope that it goes better than reports of nphw jff's round at stonewall jackson
gotta take 300. sorry nphw
300??? Nice Unckie!
I saw the pic of you guys golfing, good for you. I hope you hit 'em straight.
Life Group tonight with friends and wine tour tomorrow.
Go Bills!!!
into october with our bills doing well but the season getting more and more iffier. Here's hoping that the league can keep going. I need the diversion. Go Bills!!
4-0! Foreign and OH!!!
Two football games to watch tonight because of COVID. Thanks COVID!
Yanks/ Rays too. So much going on.
Winter is Coming
I guess that i need to say something about last nite. What I will say, and auntie will vouch for me, is that halfway thru the second quarter I announced that it was not going to go well and I went to bed. Smart move, and I don't make many, by me. And KC is on the horizon. Come on winter!!
Thank goodness we play the J-E-T-S this weekend. God help us.
And another weekend is upon us. Keep hoping for some positive news coming from somewhere but there doesn't seem to be any on the horizon. After 4 days of rain I guess that my only move is to go out and attempt to move some soggy leaves--a truly rewarding task if there ever was one. Keep the faith and Go Bills, PLEASE!
Gorgeous, gorgeous day on Friday!!! That was our Indian summer (am I allowed to say that?)
Bills win
Here comes the snow.
I just hope that everyone has been as diligent as I in their quest to rid their lawn of any and all leaves. If there is a better use of time, I don't know what it could be. Just waiting to spot that first snowflake. Let's hope that it all comes down on Cam Newton alone. Go Bills!!
One week of this gorgeous weather to come... Buffalo is spoiled. What did we do to deserve this?
I'll be spending it raking, patching, cleaning, storing, etc... so much to do. Winter is coming.
A totally gorgeous day out there. I looked but could not find a single cloud, anywhere. I should, in fact, do something really productive outside today but will likely spend frustrating hours watching football, which, at some point totally regret. Oh well, but in my defense i did finish my war with the leaves. Keep these days a comin''...
Definitely a change in the weather, and not for the better. Hope that everyone still gainfully employed out there will have a chance to enjoy a paid holiday today. Go Bills !!
so I am hoping that the pilafs have enough scholarship players available so that the annual turkey bowl is not cancelled, so little else to look forward to. Hoping that my sister travels safely and everyone enjoys the holiday as best they can.
