Let the Games begin! The field of 64 has been selected. Our Hometown Favorite, Niagara Purple Eagles will face the dreaded Kansas whatevers on Friday. This picture was taken after they defeated Florida AM. They are ready to go. However, predictions aren't in the Purple Eagles favor. Kansas is favored by 16 pts.
I did go to HSBC arena today to catch a glimpse at a NCAA champion hopeful. I was just in time to see Butler working out prior to facing Old Dominion. If OD has time to look at the blog before tip off, maybe they will have # 14 double teammed in hopes of an upset.
While at HSBC, I spotted AL Gore (wanna be environmentalist) preaching to Davidson telling them they can beat Maryland if they just do a # 1 before the game. At least that's what I heard!
I tried telling him that the game hasn't started yet. But, he didn't want to hear any of that. He kept on cheering.
The fans even thought if they jumped in the Niagara River they would turn blue. After that they were spotted at the Anchor Bar.
Following practice, Coach K was informed that he was not chosen for Dancing with the Stars they had voted Claven in stead. He became very distressed, that he was unable to focus on the upcoming game. His players were their to console him.
Of course, we can't forget our other favorite team GW or Boston College. Here's hoping that your teams make it to the sweet 16! Before I left HSBC arena, I met some great people. Unfortunately, I couldn't stay for the remainder of the practices. The hot dog vendor was only there until 2:40. But, I did tell my new friends that they would have a special spot on the blog.....

Gotta love a family that replaces a matriarch's 90th b-day with squirels and ncaa brackets!!!
That was awesome. Unckie, do you get credit for this?
No pics of Old Dominion fans? I heard at least three of them last night singing the school song at about 2 in the mornin'.
This latest entry has to be the work of nph jff. Great job!! I thought that I was ready before, when I got Auntie to promise to be on duty for the next 2 days bringing me whatever I need to enhance my game enjoyment, but now I am REALLY ready to go. Only 3and a half hours remain. Not a Chamber of Commerce day for our out of town guests, but we will make the best of it. Had a chance to go, but 190 for the 3 sessions was a bit too pricey, considering that I am on fixed income and between golf and party dice games the Rice family has been separating me of late from my disposable income.
Just a quick break from the games to see what is going on. Auntie was at my beck and call until 12:45 and then decided that the games were boring and headed for Target. I have been left to fend for myself, and I only have one beer left. A dilemma.
Rats...
I can't stand it when I get denied my origiinal post.
Anyhoo... Let me sum up my previously extensive post being less eloquent.
This blog is not mine.
I too am running low on beer.
I was the editor of the blog. Now, I must see how I did with my brackets today.
nc jnn, so sorry to give credit where it was not due. Excellent, excellent job. What threw me off was the little people trying to post each other up. Such callousness, I thought, was strictly limited to my nephew. I now know better.
And we just saw the 1st upset. Who else had picked Duke to lose?
Uh Unckie, I think the camera is just pulled back far. They're not real lil' people.
I didn't pick VCU... but I wanted to. Great game. Now I'm home home all day to watch day two.
Funny blog Jnna, kudos.
Is dwarf-tossing still practiced in Australia, or did they finally ban it? Just asking. I liked VCU with the points, but figured that Duke would win the game. Looking forward to this afternoon, and hoping that Auntie can't find another store to hide out all afternoon.
beer is cold, weather is cold, my team is cold
going home
I took the day off in preparation of being a couch-slug and watching bracket-ball all day with a cold one being my only friend and never leaving my side. Instead... Sandra had me do errands all day, we took Gram out to lunch (Roman Cafe'), and then finished with more errands. I just got home.
Good mornin' and Happy St. Patrick's Day.
Well... there's a lil' snow on the ground this morn'. So, first I'll shovel and then I'm off to get some donuts. Zach has little league tryouts and draft today and he's nervous about it. Nothing better than a bavarian cream donut to take your mind off of the major problems in a 9 yr olds life.
Good luck Zack and here's hoping that you wind up on the Red sox. It would go a long way in healing a big family rift. In regard to last nite's game-----OUCH!
Morning family -- happy st. patty's day. They're dying the river green here in the ATL today -- or at least I think they would, if we had a river. I've got buckets and buckets of work to do today, but i think I'll tip back a pint or two (instead of my usual bourbon) in honor of the day.
good luck Zach!
Jnna -- what did you decide about your ear?
And when IS holtzapalooza 2?
The Rice's had a mini-Holtzapalooza last night. Too much stout. I think I got some bad wings last night. The kind that give you a brutal headache. They never seem to effect Sandra in the same way though.
40 point loss to Kansas ... Ouch indeed. I think I'll savor Tuesday's victory for just a bit longer.
Well it's off to prepare for one of my favorite days of the year.
Oh yeah, Zach had fun at tryouts (he did well for a seven month layoff) and one of the coaches came over to him after the batting cages and asked him what position he liked. Zach told him he likes catcher and the coach responded with... "interesting". Needless to say, Zach was brimming after their short conversation.
Green wine.. I had to much green wine....
To much, too much...
oh my -- there were a lot of bad chicken wings consumed in WNY last night, now weren't there? All I know is I spoke to my dad last night and he gave me completely erroneous information about who had won various games last night. Green Guiness is NOT your friend
Happy March 18th! Happy Kobalt tools 500!
Mom the dissertation about my ear was a little excessive. I am recovering from my St. Patty's day partying last night. For some reason, I called Blockbuster searching for a MUCHA LUCHA Return of the El Malefinco children's movie and stroke up a conversation with "Sam" the 24 year old cashier. For some apparent reason, he now has my phone number and was texting me until 3 am. I will blame the chicken wings.
Well, my ear update: I haven't gone for the CT scan yet. Only because my DR is at a conference (thanks to me and Independent Health). I am just waiting to hear what he says. I am still on antibotics, 12 weeks now. DR thought I would still have this feeling for 2 more months. It looks like I will just be waiting this out.
HOLTZAPALOOZA DEUCE! Would you like me to go to Richardson's cottage this week? When is a good time to drop off the crib too? (Let me know the day of the week Aunt Patti is cooking dinner. I will make sure I stop by around that time.) SHOOT! I just ruined my plan!
Anyway, I have to go. SOFTBALL PRACTICE AT 11 AM!
The games were a blur. I am NOT a drinker of stout, and whenever I make these ceremonial gestures, it turns out bad. I also think that part of my dizziness came from watching auntie as she insisted on doing all of the appropriate?? hand movements to the Blarney Bunch's rendition of the "unicorn song". Happy Birthday sis! If mr. fixit would break down and buy a computer, you could be reading this. Poor nc jnn. The winter of 06-07 has not been kind. Hang in there, better times are a comin'. Anyone heading out to Delaware Ave. today?
Is it too late to wish my mom a happy birthday???
Ricky Rudd starting 42 today and averging 26th place so far. Not a good year... at least we have a few races to go.
Bathroom's done. Anyone gotta go?
Zach just got word from his little league coach; he's on the Yankees.... all is right with the world.
Not the YANKEES! The last, best hope of mankind is gone. Alas.
hopefully there will be a mid season mega deal that will see poor Zach traded to the red sox. Or at least maybe the pirates.
How'd you get home so quick?
