HAPPY BIRTHDAY SISSY!

On October 21, 1983 Jillian Elizabeth Koch entered the world weighing 8 lbs and 4oz at 1:24 pm at DeGraff Memorial Hospital. She has grown up to be a successful, intelligent, beautiful, independent woman. Jill has made her family proud with each passing day. Happy Birthday Jill!

Just in case you wanted to know some important facts about 1983: the year that Jill was born:

The Washington Redskins were the Super Bowl XVII champions defeating Miami 27-17.

The Baltimore Orioles win the World Series, defeating the Philadelphia Phillies 4 games to 1

The first regular U.S. cellular telephone system goes into operation.

October 25 - Microsoft Word is first released.

December 27 - A propane explosion in Buffalo, New York kills five firefighters and two civilians.

Flashdance and Return of the Jedi are box-office hits.

McDonald's introduces the McNugget.

February 28 - M*A*S*H (TV series) ends after 11 years and 251 episodes on CBS. The series finale, Goodbye, Farewell and Amen, becomes the highest rated episode in TV history.

Happy Birthday Jill. I hope you have a wonderful 24th birthday.

I apologize but I was unable to post pictures as the blogsite was down for maintenance.

With all that said I am heading to McDonald's for some McNuggets.

Happy Birthday Jllie, ( I love McNuggets!), great research Jnna.
24 years old, holy cow.
I remember... nope, I just lost it. I started drinking in fall of '83 (the start of my senior year {the drinking age was 18 then}). Taggart's Tavern on the boulevard. Good times, good times. Does anyone remember Good Time Charlie's?

Well here it is Monday!
Jnna, who attended yesterday bill's game commented that the only person that got booed louder than macgayhee was Juron, now thats funny. Oh and the announcement about playing in toronto, got booed pretty bad!
Potential great blogs this week, I may actually finally be able to post san antonio pictures, and thrillie is going to the national glacier park when in Montana.
I am ignoring the obvious..

What a WONDERFUL day yesterday, starting with a chance to recognize my favorite nc jll's b-day, continuing with sitting on the deck watching our beloved Bills dismantle the hated Ravens, enjoying a number of adult beverages, and then ending with a late nite baseball game.Yes, I actually stayed up, something that I haven't done all season. High 70's and golf today. As my favorite nfw jff often says, it is good..... And to know how much all of my family is enjoying today too makes it very special. Glacier Park: super cool!! Texas pics too? Let's have a good one all.

And just like that....My birthday is over. I had a great weekend and back to work. The only thing I could have asked for is you know who losing last night to you know who.
Thank you to my birthday well-wishers.

Did anyone else hear the news that Dumbledore from Harry Potter was gay. I'm talking the character. Apparently, JK Rowling told a yound reader that. I'm not sure that was really pertinent to the story line.

Happy Birthday, Jill! I'm sorry to be late. I spent the entire day on the deck yesterday and never got near the computer.

Happy late birthday Jll!

Great birthday dinner last night with Jill and Gary.

Heading into work early today. Enjoy the rainy day and 30 degrees colder then yesterday.

Don't appear that today will be as nice as yesterday weatherwise. Sabres stumbling, everyone on the radio seems to hate Dick Jauron, at least we have the UB bulls leading their division. Whoda ever thunk that would be the sports savior in WNy?

Anonymous said...

Can't leave it at 13, that's unlucky. Oh, I forgot, there's still baseball. Yanks gonna interview Buck Schowalter?

ditto, lovely dinner last nite, with Jill and Gary, her BF not her uncle, that never grows old!
Uncle Bob from Denver a diehard Rockies fan (geo's brother, my husband not steinbrenner) is higher than a kite and guarantees a Mile High 4 game sweep! Now that is some trash talking!
Yesterday they had 2 inches of snow at 8AM, and by 3 it was sunny and 60!
Thrillie is on her way to Montana, and is very excited!! She had a bit of a bumpy ride out of Bflo, as it was pouring this AM, and she had an hour layover in Detroit.
Now I seem to recall, that my bro and KDH collected National Park stamps??? I thought I read that somewhere in the blog??? Is that not correct??
also I do believe her pirate gift will be fresh from Glacier National Park!!! as that was discussed last evening over wine!
Other than that, nothing, everyone leaves next week for Disney..
enjoy the rain..
at least it is not snow

Good morn' everyone. Ugly, rainy day in WNY... no big though, I convinced my blushing bride to come home at lunch and spend the rest of the day with me. (Oh yeah, I forgot to mention) I'm working just a half day today. I was in no mood to be at work today and definitely needed a me-day. So I'm baking meatloaf now and we're going to sit down and watch the rest of Heroes' season one. It's good to be me.
Enjoy the rain and Montana.

Rockies in 6.

Jff, check out mike and the maddog at 2, to hear how mattingly's interview went??
Girardi's was 6 hours long.
when I interview, its 20 minutes tops, must be doing something wrong?
mmm I love meatloag, beatloaf!

Rockies in 4? If I were a betting man, and I certainly am not, I would be interested in that wager. Colin Cowherd had an interesting take on the series today, citing the number of 300 hitters in the NL west, as a measure of pitching. Whether hitting for average matters or not. If the weather goes bad, this series could go beyond Vet's Day. Got to hand it to nphw jff, a little afternoon delight combined with Heroes and meatloaf. I know who got the "romance gene" in our family. A six hour interview? wow. that's all I will say on that.

Anonymous said...

I'm not sure I could make it through a six hour interview.
Maybe if it were over the course of a week, then maybe, possibly in a few days, but unlikely.

Auntie B, I got your Mike and Mike message a little late. Chris Russo (Mad Dog) was talking to his dad about resigning A-Rod. Mr. Russo would resign him, admitting though it wasn't his money to spend. Duh, ya think?

wednesday AM, mmm not to much else to say about that!
Today on the way into work, 97rock was discussing who is a Man's Man in buffalo, I quess there is some article out about the top 40 manly men, so the suggestions ranged from Jimmy Griffin to Baby Joe Mesi! pretty funny!
The post is predicting its Joe Girardi, hands down...
have a great day, even though its gray and gloomy, enjoy it

I consider mself a "man's man". Maybe I should do a blog about being a man's man. In short, I look great wearing flannel (I have it on now) and am comfortable in sandels as well. I rarely wear cologne, but don't mind using fragranted soap. I usually drink beer (rarely domestic) and stick my pinky out when drinking wine or champagne. I could continue... but I smell a blog with cartoons and penguins... lots of penguins.

I can't make it through a 6 hour work day (a trait I obviously share with my cousin jff) so a 6 hour interview is out of the question.

I'm in NYC for meetings today and tomorrow. Its cold and rainy -- bad "sneaking out of the meeting to shop" weather

Thank you cuz, I think.

Are you watching the third period? Brutal. They have some searching inside themselves to do.

I heard Atlanta finally received some rain. What was all that hullabaloo about KDH?

12 days until vacation!

Heat kicked on last night. Is it cold outside or is Sandra playing with the thermastat? Silly Sandra.

Anonymous said...

well here it is, none pay day thursday in my work world!
It is getting darker and darker when I come into work, and its dark when I leave.. sigh
what a brutal nite for sports, thank goodness the RTN network shows an I Love Lucy marathon most nites! now seriously who ever grows tired of Lucy and Ethel!
have a great day all

I nominate Jff, for one of the top spots in the manly men of buffalo and surrounding townships.
show of hands???

sounds like unkie and aunt p will be off the blog for a bit. It seems a Mr. Daemon over at yahoo has taken to mailing them 600 times a day, saying that their messages are not being delivered. Father is on the phone trying to track down mr. daemon. He may have to deliver the messages himself.

I 2nd the motion for jff as mr. buffalo. maybe he could be mr. pump and pull?

ant b, I completely disagree with your opinion that there is nothing on tv. I had a great viewing evening last night, and am looking forward to tonight as well.

Back from Northwest Montana! Kalispell is absolutely beautiful! The airport, that consisted of 3 gates, beat my personal best of smallest airport I have been in, which was formerly held by McAllen Airport in South Texas.
We were able to go into Glacier National Park, but sadly most of the park was closed for the winter season. We were only able to drive 16 miles in. It still was beautiful nevertheless. We didn't see any glaciers though because you have to drive on "the road to the sun" which was closed. No bears either. And all the gift shops were closed! What a bummer. I still got some great pictures though!

Johnny Damon works for Yahoo? Is that his second gig when the Yankees are booted prematurely?
I know Adm, Grays Anatomy and ER, great nite for TV this evening!

The silver lining in my day:

Sports Illustrated has an article out about the Top 10 Cities in the Worst Sports Slump. I patiently read the article knowing I would find Buffalo at the top of that list. But to my excitement Buffalo was only ranked # 3 on the list. Philadelphia earned the top spot. All I can say is: We're not the worst! We're not the worst!

Anonymous said...

I thrive on being "not the worst", we should have a "we're not the worst " party.

Adm, do I get a Bob's Pump & Pull t-shirt? I'll do it!!!

Anonymous said...

A we're not the worst party! Now that is something to look forward to!!!
Well here it is Friday, and we all know what that means!

Anonymous said...

Had to sub in order to get an update on what is going on.I should have known that Daemon woould be the one to make me miserable. I love our new WNY slogan: "We're not the worst"!! I disagree with my sister, tv viewing has been GREAT. We can only hope that it continues. Teaching? business today. Always a lot of fun. Sorry about the heat going on, but for those heading to warmer, sunnier places in the near future, it is only a temporary inconvenience. Enjoy the day all. Hoping that baseball season will be officially over by sunday evening.
