The Schultz Philosophy

Schultz Philosophy
The following is the philosophy of Charles Schultz, the creator of the 'Peanuts' comic strip. You don't have to actually answer the questions.
1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world.
2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners.
3. Name the last five winners of Miss America.
4. Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize.
5. Name the last half d ozen Academy Award winners for best actor and actress.
6. Name the last decade's worth of World Series winners.
How did you do?
The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday. These are no second-rate achievers. They are the best in their fields. But the applause dies. Awards tarnish. Achievements are forgotten. Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners .
Here's another quiz. See how you do on this one:
1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school.
2. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time.
3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile.
4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special.
5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with .
Easier?

The lesson:
The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the most credentials, the most money, or the most awards. They are the ones that care .
'Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia '(Charles Schultz)
Aren't Friends and Family Great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't read anything without some picture aides to help me along.
Got in a car accident this morning. Driving up the entrance ramp to the 290 then my car fishtailed on some ice. When I finally got my car under control a bright orange ford edge was barrelling at me. The guys slammed into my passnger rear side. This of course happens just weeks after i officially paid off my car and just 5 days after I received the title in the mail.
Oh well I guess I am not hurt.

I am so glad to hear my sissy is okay! I was at work thrwarting off state surveyors as my mom called in a panic and left my a voicemail saying:

"DONT PANIC, BUT PLEASE CALL ME BACK ITS AN EMERGENCY BUT I WONT BE AT WORK BECAUSE OF THIS SAID EMERGENCY BUT DONT WORRY, JUST CALL MY CELL BECAUSE I DONT KNOW WHERE I WILL BE, BUT CALL MY CELL AS SOON AS YOU GET THIS" (end quote)

I quickly called and I thought that there was a shortage of scratch off's but gram is okay.

My sisters Honda is not. : (

Hey, thanks Congress and Pres Bush for that check come July!

4 more years!!! 4 more years!!!

Sorry to hear about the crack-up, but at least your safe. Ice is dangerous, you can lose your eye. Were you late for work?

No more scratch-offs? What's going on?

Hey family --
Jll, glad you're ok, but sorry to hear about your car. Is it fixable or is this the end?
Antie B, way to worry your daughter. The ill-specified "emergency" gets everyone scared!
Another gray cold (relatively speaking) day here in the ATL. Makes me want to go back to bed, but today's a KDHRC work day :(

Hope mom and dad are getting some good weather down in the FLA.

KDHRC working on a Saturday??? Obviously making up for a Friday. I'm getting really good at shredding, do you need help with that?

I loved the Schultz Philosophy, so named after Sgt Schults of Stalag 13 fame, no of course not I am kidding. It is again an affirmation of what we all know its the little things in life that matter!
thrillie did call me in the office very upset, not so much as she was hurt, but just that she had just paid off her car :( I promptly left work and picked her up and took her to IHOP for blueberry pancakes! Cuz pancakes can seriously cure all the worlds ills!
Can UP & AC vote in Florida?
What are we all doing with our G W Bush rebate checks???
Other than that I got nothing, thinking of warm days with these gray days!
make a difference
I got the cutest card from Oliver!
He prints really nice.

We loved our Oliver TY card... and he does have excellent penmanship.

$$$... Oh, lets see... maybe pay some of that Disney vacation back. Not exactly what GW had in mind, but it'll have to do for the Rices.

oh man -- blueberry pancakes. NOW I'm hungry!

The sun is finally out in the ATL today -- heading up the Gwinnett later on for a minor league hockey game. But before then, I have to make some progress on this paper I'm writing. Despite my best efforts, yesterday was NOT a particularly productive day workwise ...

And come on, who can work when the NNHL all-star game is in your town?

Anonymous said...

well here we are the last monday of January??? can we get through it??
lost weekend kind of, did not really accomplish much.
The all star game?? ON 71, who even thought to look there?
enjoy the day, and whatever comes your way!
Mitt romneys son is named Tagg?
kind of funny, is there a game theme in there family? Is there a daughter dodgeball?

Just heard back from my insurance company. My car is a "driveable total loss". Isn't that an oxymoron? Oh well, I guess I am going car shopping this weekend.

Anonymous said...

That doesn't even make sense. Who came up with that title???

Two gg's in Tagg?

after listening to president bush's speech it wonders if i will switch sides and be a republican.

Only our family blog has Barack Obama!!! AWESOME!!
And Ted Kennedy even endorses him!
It is good to be in the Holtz lineage I tell ya!
A driveable total loss, mmm I think that would make a good book title???
Just so everyone knows: Chuck Knoblock is not testifying to congress today re his alleged steroid use, he has rescheduled for Friday. How does one go about doing that? Do you just call the congress secretary and say, you know tuesday is not a good day how about friday??? I quess that says more about congress than anything, they are flexible.
It is Tuesday, and I can think of so many things I would rather be doing than looking at the pile of work under my desk, I hide my work under my desk, it works for me.
1-2-9 great numbers, enjoy the day, lets face it, its pretty much your choice!

Welcome home Barack! Someone prepare the fatted calf.

When I woke up this AM, I so didn't want to work today. Gloomy, gloomy dayy, just a nice day to sit at home and watch a Cary Grant movie.

Anonymous said...

So JFF the question is...Did you go to work???

Anonymous said...

Jff, which Cary Grant movie??? I truly do love them all! But north by northwest is my alltime favorite, I think.
Scranton wilkes barre comes to town on april 29th and 30th or they Yankees are in Cleveland the 29th and the 30th, which to do for our 32nd anniversary, cuz 32 years is a baseball game.

Anonymous said...

KDH, that so would not be Jff's attitude if he was your CFO.
or maybe not???

Anonymous said...

Gramma had a date on Monday.
Film at 11
Jff, are you going to work on Wed

Anonymous said...

I spent part of today napping. I can't throw stones. Though I am improving my management style right now by watching the office.

A date? Do tell!

How much longer until baseball season?

For those of you watching the superbowl on Sunday, keep your eyes peeled for the commercial I had a hand in making!

Anonymous said...

KDH, which commercial?? Is there only one that you did?
I have always felt you had star quality!
So thrillie has been sitting at the airport since 5AM waiting to leave for Kentucky. However, the airport has no power. So I quess with out runway lights, planes do not fly. not sure what the day will hold...
But I know it will be a special day

Anonymous said...

I knew I was in trouble when the power went out in the airport and the temperature inside dipped below 60 degrees.
Alas, I sat at the airport for 3 hours until I was fully convinced my plane was not going to be leaving the airport for quite sometime. And i knew it was all over once they shut down the airport. Oh well I am glad that happened in Buffalo and not Kentucky.
But then I was chastised by the parking cashier because apparently you can't give her your ticket and your credit card at the SAME TIME! This was news to me as all i was trying to do was speed up the process since there was only one lane open with 20 cars waiting in line. Boy was she mad! She was shaking her head at me and giving me dirty looks. They should really put a sign up then!

Snow Day for the Rice Family!! The tree in the backyard is still standing!

Anonymous said...

sounds like everything is great for the wny/atl Holtz's. Oliver has been laid up with the stomach flu since saturday. And I found out yesterday just what a bad bug that is!

Anonymous said...

Sorry to hear that Adm... keep 'em comfy.

I did go to work on Tuesday, but was dying the whole day. I only went a half day today though. And I'm feeling much better about life. I think I needed a lil' "me time"... with my fam of course.

I would also agree that North by Northwest is my fav, but I also like Charade, (Al's cat burglar movie too, with Grace Kelly), and Mother Goose (funny)... and His Girl Friday... all classics. We could have a Cary Grant night. Oh, and Suspicion is good too. You know, he was in the circus as a youngster, trapeze dude.

Picking up my "new" car today after 2 days of negotiations, which really wasn't negotiating because they refused to knock down the price by even a penny. Gary finally told me that it was the best deal in town and they had me by the B***s. Which I believe was metaphorically speaking.
So I headed back into the dealership with my tail between my legs and bought it. However I did re-gain some of my pride when I made them buy me a second set of keys (they are those expensive ones where the keyless entry buttons are right on the key). You HAVE to have 2 sets of keys!
I drive a hard bargain, must be the Holtz in me. The sales person quickly agreed..probably so they could be rid of me.
Pick it up today at 4:30pm.
