An Opening Day
Blog

The sparse crowd inside sugggested otherwise.
Two Chiefs were throwing the ball around pre-game and tossed Zach the ball.
The stadium was really nice and definitely had that minor league baseball "feel" to it.
Bryce Harper came out to warm up, he's obviously a "southern boy".
We had good seats, section 116, 5th row, $14 is a bit much though and the food was very plain and expensive too. It does not compare to the Bisons food and prices.
The introductions of the opening day teams was nice and enthusiastic. It was cute seeing Tex Simone (he's been with the Chiefs for over 50 years) walk over to the Red Wing manager and give him a hug. It was wierd too when he put his hands in Gene Glynn's pockets and pull out his wallet.
The ceremonial picture of the first pitch.
Bryce harper played centerfield and batted fifth. In his first AAA at bat he stroked a double over the head of the 1B and down first base line.
Here he is standing on second after his double.
Former MLB Mark Teahan flied out to center and Harper tagged up and slid into third.
Here's a random shot showing that indeed the sun would show it's head during the day. Red Wings SS Brian Dozier and (overpaid) 2B Tsuyoshi Nishioka. Uncle Chuck, is he on your fantasy team?
Red Wings LF Rene Tosoni. Needless to say, the chants of "Girl Power" echoed throughout the stadium whenever he came to bat.
In Bryce's second at bat he slapped a single into right center.
He struck out in his third at bat and finished the day 2-4 with a stolen base.
It got a little cold and we headed out early. We had a great day and a wonderful time together. The perfect beginning to the 2012 baseball season.

What a great job!
Thank you for sharing Opening day!
I just have one critique, could you have expounded on the poor quality of food a bit more, in case I go, so I will know what not to order? And their libation choices?
Great pictures, great job
PLAY BALL!
Seriously, who intentionally walks a batter in the first inning of the first game of the season!!!
How ridiculous was that!
Took GG for a fish fry last night, where she cleaned her plate! And guzzled her beer, thats my girl!
Enjoy Easter Eve all!
Quick question, is the term colored Easter Eggs, politically correct, just asking???
Zach is taller than Gary, just noticed that.
Happy Easter everyone! I told Gram I would pick her up at 12. I am guessing since I have been trying to call her since 1115 she is already in the lobby.
Good morning everyone and Happy Easter! We had a nice weekend starting with Thursday's ball game. Friday, we went to noon service, then down to Gabriel's Gate for a fish fry and then to the Knox art museum to spend the rest of the day. Easter was spent with Sandra's parents and everyone was in town. Good times.
To expound on the food situation in Syracuse. The hot dogs were edible. Zach soft pretzel was soft in name alone. My Philly cheese steak cost $8, had no meat in it and the girl ripped a piece of provolone in half and slapped it on top. Terrible.
I would stick with the hot dog.
The beer selection was decent. The had your typical Coors and Bud and also offered Saranac.
Dont you hate wasting money on bad food! Had a very nice Easter with Gramma, Austin and the Everett's.
No word back from hank or hal regarding my resume, so I quess I better keep plugging away at the job I have, right???
Happy Dyngus day to all!
Happy Dyngus Day all!
Big easter egg hunt in the 'hood yesterday - the quick math exercise is 12 houses with 50 eggs of candy each and 12 kids collecting eggs = 2 older kids in bed by 6pm with a GIANT sugar crash!
It was a beautiful day -- 83 and sunny -- cant beat Easter in Georgia! Missed you all!
Gary and I are headed to Vegas tomorrow. We were supposed to see Eddie Vedder perform a solo show, but he had to cancel due to nerve damage in his right arm. How is the man supposed to play the Ukelele with nerve damage! Anyways so I think we are going to head over to the baseball stadium and see the Las Vegas 51's play on $1 Beer Night. I will be sure to provide a detailed description of the food when we get back.
Have fun in Vegas! $1 beer night? Be still my heart.
Dyngus Day!!!
Gray cold rainy day for Bisons home opener! In fact on the ride in along the Niagara section of the thruway, I thnk I saw snow!
Cookie and Gary arrived safely in Vegas, were up at 7AM to start their day!
Other than that, its only Wed!
I can't get on the blob at work anymore. Frickin' fracken' IT dept.
I'm loving baseball this year.
Back in WNY after a much too brief time in Hotlanta plus a few other adventures and misadventures. Appears that our baseball weather was a bit better than that in this area. Bisons today??? I think that Auntie may have plans for me, not least of which is the lawn.
So glad to hear that aunty and unky have arrived back home, safe and sound!
Glad you enjoyed your time in Hotlanta!
I think a bisons game today would be great, I am right down the street, wish I could attend!
Sorry Jff, you have been firewalled.
Just try again tomorrow, as with life, one day your in the next day your are out!
Enjoy the weekend family
Didn't get a chance to comment on the great blog/baseball pix. I am assuming that nphw jff was the photog since it appears that UG was somewhat bundled up for the duration.
