It's very hard to believe that Holtzapalooza is just around the corner. Being the oldest of the Holtz clan gives me the honor of being the last to be told about this important reunion. First they said "Don't forget we are having this shindig." A few weeks later, the next tidbit they gave me was it was in August. But they omitted the date. A couple of weeks later they decided to tell me it was the 5th not the 6th, whatever that meant. Finally a month later after I had been figiting and asking questions; they finally told me I had to bring food. So far, so good. Luckily I was keeping track of all these words in my little notebook. Which is named, Grandma's office file. I have about 15 of these little information books. They come in handy whenever I am having an argument about dates. For the record, I usually win. So far I have party, date, and food jotted down. After looking and prodding again they finally condescended to tell me my list. My list consists of chips, pretzels, two kinds of cheese, crackers, and of course pop, pepperoni, and beer. They did not tell me what kind as of yet. That's okay, we still have little over a week. My SS should arrive on August 3rd just in time to get these items.
Today was a red letter day. Guess what????? I found out, I had to get a secret surprise gift. No one must know what it is that we buy. I was very fortunate that Jenna and Austin were free to take me out shopping. The big question was where should we go? I was thinking of a very expensive store, but they voted me down. But, they suggested Target. Their thought process was if we spent less, there was more money for a meal afterwards.
Those two are always on the ball. It took us two hours to find our selections. Fifteen minutes to buy it and 1 hour and 45 minutes dodging each other, so no one knew what everyone was purchasing. Believe me, I was very exhausted after this trip. I was so happy when we sat down at Bob Evan's. Jenna tried sneaking out to the car to see what I had purchased. But, attentive Austin ran out and caught her before she could see.
After a hearty meal they brought me home where I quietly collapsed into my easy chair. I only have one more piece of information to get. What kind of beer?? Uh oh, I forgot the second important question, what time are you picking me up?? Don't you dare forget me!!!!!
I can hardly wait to be together and share lots of laughs, even a few tears. Gramps will be in his glory with the best seat in the house, beaming at us having the time of our lives.
Love, Gram

Great Job Gram! This weather is scary!
Great job gram!
i'm embarrassed to admit that my sis-in-law quizzed me today about what SHE was supposed to bring to the 'pooza and I wasn't able to tell her. Dang.
At least it prompted me to buy my plane ticket. ouuuuuuuuuuuuuch.
I'm coming up with some damn fine games AND costumes. Don't even try to stop me. Mr. Clara Barton here I come!
Sounds as if everyone is truly into the spirit of the occasion. K. coming as Clara Barton's husband? Bets as Mrs. George King? It will be tough measuring up to those challenges.
What is up with this FREAKIN' weather?
I think Auntie B meant Mrs. King George... not sure though.
Nice blog, Gram. I really could've have gone for some Bob Evans sausage today.
Can't wait to play some games KDH, how about "try to drink a beer sitting down", that's an ole Buff State College game. Not sure sure if you're familiar. Easy game to learn. We can use the mime.
If your planning on bringing hamburgers to Palooza, save your money. The Tiki Hut received an order for 10 lbs of hamburgers. It was a mistake that US Foods made, but they delivered it. We were supposed to get steak. Instead we got beef. So, my dear friend Katie, is gladly donating the hamburgers for our bash.
So all we need is cheese and rolls.
Drinking beer sitting down?? Why that's 51 different ways of doing it. What a great idea. Sounds as if the koch's have a busy week planned. Me, my biggie will be golf with nphw jff while trying to avoid heat stroke. This is dangerous weather for the elderly you know. Adam, where are you??? You are unemployed again so you should be a regular contributor.
Mom, be careful with that Betsy Ross get-up. She was a bit of a vixen and we don't want the palooza raided.
Obviously people are weakened from the heat, but it is worse in Fargo.
I have to start watching the weather channel more. I'm missin' all the good Fargo gossip and general mid-west conversational starters.
Where is Adm???
IT IS GOING TO BE HOT ON Wednesday. We better bring plenty of cold refreshing beverages Unckie.
Both cars are all decorated for the Holtzapalooza Sausage Tray Parade. One theme; I have the head of Bob Evans on my roof surrounded by roses and assorted flowers with Bob's hand coming out of the passenger side window holding a maple sausage link (Sorry Thrllie, Sandra called shotgun).
I want to surprise you with the second vehicle. But a hint: Tom the Turkey, a lemur, and 40 lbs. of ham spread. I think I gave away too much.
Unckie, on Wednesday, for every beer we drink, we take away one stroke.
Whatcha' think?
I have a hunch that tomorrow's golf will set the tone for the entire Palooza. I hadn't thought of car decorating, but that is what this family is all about---we all benefit from having so many great minds analyzing every topic. I hate to throw a clinker in the coal stove, but what about corn for the grill for Sat. We are in the prime of the season and we will have about 20 bags of charcoal to have a fire going, or would that be too messy and inconvenient?? Your thoughts??
Our house is hotter mom.
CORN SOUNDS YUMMY!!!
CAR DECORATING, BEST DECORATED CAR WINS PRIZE.
I bought golf balls at target. I am all set. I even have a straw hat to wear.

It's HOT...it's Africa HOT...not sure I can stay here much longer if it's going to be this HOT!
Never mind the burgers Jenna...are ya bringing the smoothies?!
I was thinking that i should take the day off tomorrow and drive the cart for the boys...what do ya think Unc?
HOT!!! Damn right it's hot. Can't imagine that the golf course is going to be all that cool tomorrow, and I have three fans all pointed at the bed tonite in the hopes of getting a little sleep. I think that we all need to move in with Gramma and her AC until the heat breaks.
Couldn't sleep... too hot. I think I heard Unckie giggleling outside my window last night. I swear he had a hair dryer blowing more hot air in the house. That guy will do anything for a golfing edge. BRUTAL!
I'll bring some corn down too. Corn is a great idea and now is the time!!!
101 here today in HOTlanta. Now that's really something. 'course, we have air conditioning. and swimming pools. and stuff like that.
can't wait for pooza!
Yes sandra, we drank nothing but water all the way thru 18 holes so there is no need to question jff. He kicked butt score wise, but the old unkie wound up $l.25 richer thanks to some clutch shots. Nfw jff is in charge of all of the golfing prizes for the Sat. shootout. DAMN it's hot!!!
nfw must be exhausted from the outing. The bad news is that we are still split on world peace, but the good news is that we solved world hunger.
Actually, on a further update, we had a rather heated discussion as to who the finer entertainer would be; Doug E. Doug or Marky Mark. Itis expected that all golf participants on Sat. will have established their position by then.
Unkie ran thru the sprinkler last night~I didn't get a picture but I'm sure some of the neighbors did!
Auntie chased me thru, but it was dark out and I am sure that no one was watching.
Thrllie, It's definitely in your format. Try My Computer and play around in there. I'm okay at computers, but I'd have to play around with it. Sorry.
Other options... GOOGLE your problem.
Rumor has it Bucky Phillips was close by the Holtz Estate in EA and nearly gave himself up because he was laughing so hard.
My T-Shirt for Saturday...
RUN BUCKY RUN
Auntie B, we can't bother you. Is this bothering you? How about now?
i am hard at work on the "game" portion of the 'pooza. Get your competition on, people. This is going to be epic -- monumental -- almost like revenge of the nerds!
Thank you K for a sure fire plan. Now, will someone please tell Mom that they will pick her up and when. She keeps on calling me for details. I invited her to golf but she said the idea was "stupid". Can you imagine? Golf, stupid??
I wanna be from Mega Moo!
I think Gram is drinking again and I'm sure she didn't mean to call golf stupid.
4 X scratch off = ???
Do I get my $1.25 back from Unckie??? Taking advantage of a cripple like that. Disgusting.
Awake early so I can go to work early, but leave earlier! So excited to Golf in the AM with the people that mean the most to me. Then to spend the entire day together. It will be lots of laughs!
To top it all off, the weather is supposed to be PERFECT.
I have LOTS to do today. I am like a little kid on Christmas Eve, waiting for Santa.
Kdh, I hope one of your games is balancing an egg on a spoon or paper, rock, scissors. I have been practicing those.
Game Queen KDH...I have a pinata for all the kiddies large and small (homemade out of a box of course!)...hope someone is bringing a bat to smash it open...
Unckie C...I know better...Jff was too giggley to have just had water all day with you!
