Welcome Home!!

I know that everyone was expecting Jimmy's marvelous paper as tonight's post. However, I wanted to let everyone know about Gram's health and offer a few solutions. This afternoon, I received a phone call from Gram who had a few errands to run. Those errands consisted of going to the bank and then to cash a winning lottery ticket. Everyone calm down it was only a $5 winner. As we were driving, Gram started talking about what she thought were "her last moments".

So her scope of discussion began to turn to nursing homes. With all that said, I informed her of her local options. She begged me to give her a tour. Our first stop was Northgate, where she knows a few of the "inmates". We decided to take a peek at a few of the residents. This is Gram's new friend Irma. She even invited us into her apartment.

Gram liked the set up of her apartment. She even asked her if she could sleep over for the night. We went outside to check out the backyard facilities. There is plenty of room for boccee ball. Luckily, for us we witnessed "gardening time." It's mandatory for the residents to pick at least 12 berries. Gram was more than willing to help Stanley pick his berries. But, he snapped at her and told her he didn't need her assistance. I really think she would like it there.

After our lovely tour, we decided it was time to check out our next facility.

Our next stop was to the Erie County Home. From the outside, Gram was rather impressed. She was ready to sign up. We walked inside and we were greeted by courteous staff. We immediately signed up for the 11:20 tour. Gram began to instantly make new friends.

Sophia approached Gram and asked her if she needed any help. There was an immediate connection. Sophia told her that she has a lovely room that she was willing to show. So we took her up on that offer. As we went upstairs, Sophia started talking to Gram about her prescription drugs. They were in competition who had the most. Sophia ripped open her medicine cabinet to prove to Gram that she had more. I thought there was going to be a scuffle, but thankfully it didn't result to that.

Sophia ditched us and told us we should go check out the cafeteria. We hurried downstairs just in time for BINGO. I looked at Gram and I just knew she wanted to be the newest member. Without hesitation, she sat down and yelled out BINGO. There were many irritated residents. Of course Gram was joking; but she still won Wet and Wild cherry lipstick.

After we were kicked out of that nursing home, we scurried onto the next. I said "Gram okay this is the last one!" Then I had to give her some rules that she was ordered to adhere too. I didn't want out pictures plastered all over nursing homes.

We were off to the Schofield Nursing Home. We were both pleased with the setup of the nursing home. But, since Gram needed to drink 3 diet Pepsi's; she had to use the bathroom. The Nursing Home Manager informed us that their is only one bathroom that the men and women share. She directed us to the facility and Gram had to take a number.

She asked the manager if they ever played BINGO. She said No, it can get to violent. With that said, I knew what Gram was thinking. "Let's get out of here!"

So folks, none of that really happened. But I would like to introduce you to a new place that Gram will always have a room too. I am very superstitious, so I told everyone MUM was the word. January 2006 has been quite a month. This amazing house up the street from us was screaming my name. A few weeks ago, I took a tour of the house and quickly fell in love. I am very happy to report the Koch's will be moving to 431 Adam Street. Once I knew it was a done deal, Gram was given the tour and she quickly picked out her bedroom. So here it goes; Welcome Home Koch's!!

With Mr. and Mrs. Fix it's approval, I would love to hold Christmas 06 at our new house.

It was rather hard for me not to tell anyone about this. Especially the blog. But I knew it was time when I signed on the dotted line. I have known for quite some time. So, this weekend the Koch's will be busy moving into our new house. We will post more pictures later. Welcome Home Koch's! So there we have it. That was my big news!!

Yeah!!! I'm first. Congratulations. That's awesome news. Okay, start making the oyster dressing. Keep it moist.

BTW, I did find a decent place for Gram to stay at... Shady Acres in Attica, NY is just a lovely place and they get fed once a day, water twice a day.

so yes, we are very busy packing and cleaning and throwing out stuff, to move 2 blocks up.. but we are all very excited. As we can host Christmas, and my sister, when I told her, the first words out of her mouth, were good, you can host Christmas.

Congratulations Jnna & family!!! Way to go!!!!

Jff & family are booked first 2 weekends of July and then free for Holtzapolooza!!

Jnna's news...now where is Kdh's?

Adam...even I saw the paper!

Call Jff (volunteering my husband) if you need help...he has the truck for moving...

OK, seriously, I'm confused... does gram really have a bedroom there? WHat's going on. and who actually bought the house? Jimmy? No? Are you moving in with Albert?

In seriousness, congrats!

CONGRATTTTTS!!!! Great news. If you need help, let me know the moving day. I have LOTS of free time. If the Koch's hold Christmas, does that mean that they get to pick and choose the rules to enforce for the gift exchange? Auntie P. would be here now to offer her congrats too, but she is deeply engrossed in Dancing with the Stars. I think that her votes have been personally responsible for keeping Master P. on the show. When they booted Kenny Mayne they lost my viewership.

Unkie C, my mother and sister are glued to Dancing with the Stars. Mom voted for Mr. P 100 times last night.

Moving day will begin tomorrow and we will work all through the weekend.

Regarding Christmas and the gift exchange. I will present a slideshow along with diagrams, flow charts. As you can see in the picture, there is a huge backyard. Maybe we could have a snowball fight to determine your number. Hmmm, just a thought.

I am stunned that master p has not advanced, I so thought tia would be gone, or possibly george?? Personally I wanted to see Lisa Rina and her baloon lips gone! I agree AP, watched just to see Master P!

Gram, so lame.

I'm forking the lawn! Who's with me. We pulled together when the German's bombed Pearl Harbor. Come on, let's do it!!!

Good Morning everyone!!! 29 Years ago today Blizzard of 77.

I am busy working!! At least the sun is out!!!

Jenna Koch said...

Jeff, I am with ya!! But, you have to put 61 out, You know one for good luck!!

So little time and so much forking preparation to be taken care of. Such great news with the house. You must be really excited, and all of this to be done so quickly. I am amazed that anyone was able to focus attention on the "stars" last night. I lost a large bet to aunt p. I was convinced that Master P. would hang on until the end just to infuriate America. Does that mean that "the hood" will no longer be watching a program especially designed for their tastes?

What totally AWESOME news!! I would have given up Dancing with the Stars if i knew something this big was going down.

More pics,please!(maybe of the inside?)

Seriously, we will help move if you need us. Just give a whistle.

JT Rice said...

I missed Dancing with the Stars last night. I can't believe Master P made it that far. Did you see her face last week when they moved on... pure bewilderment.

obviously I'm missing a major cultural event on Friday nights, not watching this "dancing" show. I don't even know who Master P is?!! I'm such a white doofus.

I'm so excited for you guys. and YES -- I want pics of the inside too!

We could use some suggestions from the Women of the group for paint colors! And you too Jimmy, offer your insight!

JT Rice said...

How is it, that while I'm steam vacuuming your rugs, you're home bloggin'? Incredible.

I left Uncle Geo nappin' in Jill's room. He looked so cute.

After flocking, picking out paint colors is my favorite thing! Just let me know when and where ~~~

Jenna Koch said...

By the way, Cousin Jeff; I was at work when I posted. :( Don't be mad at me.

My dad is still snoring and drooling on the carpets.

JT Rice said...

I'm not mad, I was just giving you the business. I was glad I could help.
I left a drool bucket under Uncle Geo's chin. If you remember could you put it aside for me.

Auntie P, Design Flocker Inside... that's a bumper sticker.

So today was the big parent and child hockey game for Zach & dad...Of course the season has been all about sportsmanship and skill--no goal count etc. So it is now Zach and dad's turn to face off with each other...son against father/ child vs. hero/the man he looks up to and follows around with pride...yes...YOUR direct relation procedes to TRIP HIS SON trying to WIN and ends up in the penalty box! I was so proud!

Later, the coach told us that when it was time for Zach to go in goal (which means Jff had to play net on the other side), Zach told him that his dad wouldn't be happy playing goal. The coach asked why and Z's reply was, "Well...he's not very good at goal ya know". Ahhhh the honesty of children...as Cosby says, " Children are so truthful!"

By the way...Zach says your new house is awesome!

How's Gram?

Anonymous said...

Well I am just getting home tonight. No, I wasn't at the bar. I was at the house, pulling wallpaper off.

Now, I am off to bed. Big day tomorrow!!!

Auntie P, are you stopping by to help us pick out the new colors?

Jenna Koch said...

I think Gram is okay. She had a rough night sleeping last night. But she said she was starting to feel better.

Jenna Koch said...

Good Morning everyone! Jimmy where have you been?

Well, back to work at 431. All are welcome!

I can't believe I'm missing all the fun! I have a honorary degree in wall paper peeling, as I've helped countless friends (who now owe me big time) peel paper. I'm with you in spirit, Holtz clan!

JT Rice said...

KDH, I beg you. Hop on the first flight out to Buffalo. Trust me peeling wallpaper is so much fun. You'll have a blast.
Signed, Tom Sawyer.

I personally love the smell of wall paper paste on my fingers. I'm not washing my hands until the smell is gone ~ could take weeks. It was our pleasure! Cute, cute house!! Congrats to the Kochs!!!

JT Rice said...

I love the smell of wallpaper in the morning... it, it smells like victory.

What movie?

Charles Adam Holtz said...

apocalypse queer eye?

Jenna Koch said...

I wanted to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for your love, support, and help.

The house is totally bare with wallpaper, including the dancing bears.

Thank you again for all the help!!

OK so I came home for a much needed break as my day started at 6AM with priming walls. Needless to say I was awakened with the "drowning sensation" seems the excess drool from my "nap" scared me. Daughter and husband just walked in, and proudly announced all wall paper is off the walls! Mission accomplised. Thank You!
KDH, you missed a fun time.
New Post.. who is up...
We may be off line for a few days, Jeff can we come over and log some computer time until we are "uplinked"

Did note that the Koch's were going thru "blog withdrawal" yesterday. Auntie B's biggest concern seems to be possibly missing comments from albany relative to Buffalo sports. Me, I have county parks folks to talk to for Holtzapalooza. Stay tuned.

JT Rice said...

Good one Adam. That made me laugh.

JT Rice said...

Good luck Unckie C, It's a task not many could handle. You just seem to speak their language.

JT Rice said...

A new post is needed. My old man can post a blog quicker than a jack rabbit on a date.
