Grandma's Post

I was supposed to post this a few days ago for Gram, but I have been busy with preparing to start my full-time job!! I may have to modify what she said. But, she did provide me with really great pictures. I hope you all enjoy. Happy Birthday to Me!

To celebrate Gram's 89th, I provided entertainment. Rocko made balloon animals all evening. Rocko made Gram a birthday candle out of one balloon. Then he had a hard time breathing. So he had to stop.

So here is Gram's blog:

"The big boss has spoken: Gram, it is time for one of your blogs. Actually I am not a really good blog writer. I have a tendency to do a lot of rambling. As the old saying goes; my train seems to leave the track too often. I am not quite sure what that means. I have been frequently accused of trying to stretch my birthday celebrations to cover a whole week (Aunt Sue). This is of course, partly true. So far, I have only reached 6 days of treats. This year, because I am next door to 90, I have a good reason to prolong it, not because of presents ( I do like them) but because I like the personal attention from my lovely family.

I do not have any favorites, they protest this statement very strongly and say I play one against another. Being a sweet elderly lady, you know this is not true. See what I mean about the train and the track. Getting back to my big day. Unkie C started the celebrating on Saturday the 18th by coming to get me and taking me to East Aurora for a lovely day. Auntie P had cooked a delicious dinner of Roast Beef, potatos, and vegetables. We finished it off with a home-made apple pie (my favorite) with gobs and gobs of whipped cream. Added to this was a lovely tote bag full of goodies for my trip to Texas, next month. What a great day I had! (We were so full that I asked if I could relax for a minute on the couch. But, Unkie beat me to it).

Nothing happened on Sunday the 19th. That was my day of rest. So we can't count that. Oh wait, I forgot my friend from upstairs (Lois) gave me a box of assorted greeting cards which I really appreciated.

On Monday the 20th, my lovely granddaughters; Jenna and Jill treated me to lunch at a place that serves the greatest polish scramble, polish sausage and eggs on a roll. We had a great time, they got a little giddy and I had to chastise them. While Jenna and Jill played outside, I decided to make a snow angel (my most favorite pasttime).

On the way home we stopped to see Gramps so I could wave to him and talk to him. The ground is to uneven so I stayed in the car. Jenna braved the cold and walked out to him. Then Jenna took me to Tops so I could order my birthday cake for my birthday that was on Tuesday the 21st with the gang at Luther Manor. Add icecream and coffee which they also enjoy. My party was a great time. Jeff and Sandra and the kids came and helped serve the icecream. Here are some pictures from that evening.

On Wednesday the 22nd, I had dinner with John and his friend Lori. We went to Payne's. It was a great time. I also got a gift certificate for Kauffman's. On Thursday, Sue and Gary took me out to eat. I am having such a great time. On Friday, Bets took me out to dinner at the Legion and I had a fish fry. It was very good.

I received a lovely bouqet of flowers from granddaughter's Kristen and Amy and from grandson Adam and cards from longtime friends. I can't thank everyone enough. Well that was my birthday week. I wish I could celebrate it all year round. I loved all the attention I was getting. I guess I have to wait 365 more days.

Love,
Gram

I have been pondering…..

Since Unkie was asking for opinions on the day’s activities for Holtzapolooza I thought this was my chance to get my two cents in!

How would it be if we start the day with Mimosas while taking a hot air balloon ride? We could watch the sunrise while taking in the breath taking beauty of the surrounding landscape. Of course, we would stay tethered because it would be just to frightening to actually be air born. With Unkie onboard we wouldn’t have to worry about running out of hot air so it would be extra safe!

After “landing” we could take horse drawn carriage rides through the park to explore all the glorious places we viewed from aloft. I’m thinking perhaps Pink Ladies would be the perfect choice of liquid refreshment for this exhilarating jaunt.

By now it would be noontime and we would want a few minutes to change into our afternoon togs before the polo match started.

Of course we

ladies would want to wear our gorgeous hats to keep the sun off while we tramp down the sod. Cosmos would be the most perfect, sophisticated drink for this thrilling venue.

The polo match would bring us to teatime. There’s nothing more refreshing than a good “cuppa” after a thrilling match. A tiny shot or two of Baileys in our oolong makes it all the better. We ladies could change hats with each other just to add another layer of fun.

As the day winds down, I picture a performance by our very own Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. I took the liberty of contacting them and they do indeed have the day open. It can be ours but we will have to move quickly. This would be the perfect time to “pop” open the champagne.

A bit of ballroom dancing would be a heavenly way to end this most perfect day, fireworks exploding in the air as we sip our martinis. Oh what an absolutely scrumptious party!! Posted by Auntie P

HOLTZAPOLOOZA!!!

I have been pondering:

Recent postings have indicated that there is an increased interest in preparing for the upcoming
celebration, to be known far and wide, as Holtzapalooza-2006. Since this is going to incorporate all of the significant events in our family for the entire year, there needs to be input from and contributions by all. What I am presenting at this point is the direction that I see this going. It goes without saying that Auntie P. does not necessarily see eye to eye with me in all areas, but I am sure that all of our readers out there will be so enthused with the options presented that they will be making their summer plans to include a trip to Western New York to celebrate with us.

As you can see, I have secured a location that has a certain “rustic charm”. The buildings are advertised as “multi-purpose”. I see the day as having a wide range of activities, capable of meeting all of the diverse interests that this family has.

A good friend and retired teacher, has built a golf course just down the road from the park has promised to set aside tee-times so we can begin the day with a mini-tourney. Hopefully this will entice our Albany friend to abandon his local course and join us.

Since we will be celebrating a year’s worth of festivities in one day, elements of Festivus will be incorporated and workers have already begun to install the aluminum poles to facilitate the airing of grievances, which will be numerous I am sure.

For entertainment I took the liberty of lining up cousin Looie Fronczak and his NT Hotlicks. He has promised to play not just the old stand-bys, but also, for the younger crowd, a variety of rap, hip-hop, and a limited amount of techno.

I think that the “moon-bounce” is a bit tame so I have contracted for a couple of other games and diversions. This could be a starting point and, as you have seen, there is a lot of room for other activities.

We need a big turnout. Some of the local residents are already looking forward to meeting Mustafa.

The date, August 6, 2006 is set. I have the permit in my possession that covers from 9:00 a.m. until sunset. That is 12 hours of fun and frolic. All input will, of course, be considered but not necessarily implemented.

Mustafa and Operation Slapshot

Here's a picture of Mustafa in his playing days with the California Golden Seals. But that was then and this is now.

His professional hockey days are long behind him, but Mustafa still hangs out in the hockey community, and has been recently caught on wire tap having a conversation with Rick Tocche' and betting on sports. In the conversation he is repeatedly demanding Tocche' to implicate actress, model, humanitarian, and all-around sweet girl Janet Johns as the ring leader in the sports betting . With fear of being implicated himself in Operation Slapshot, Mustafa has hit the road and is going into hiding.

He went home to tell his wife Marge that he had to get out of town immediately, he gave her a quick little pickle tickle and then was going to be on his way. But, Mustafa figured he'd go for broke and asked Marge if her best friend wouldn't mind joining in too (or three), before he left. To Mustafa's surprise...

Marge and her friend, Uma agreed ...
So after to doing the white
squirrel's dance all night long he left first thing in the morning.

Mustafa bought what he thought was a map, rented a boat and headed north. Only up North, in Canada, would they understand the gambling and drinking problems of a hockey legend. Unfortunately for Mustafa he had very little knowledge of sailing and ended up south. Not to mention he almost choked himself to death.

With this setback Mustafa returned to what he knew best, getting drunk and opinionated.

Booze brings out the worst in Mustafa. He's an angry drunk. He's gone on weekend binges before that have landed him in jail.
Confused, angry, and out of his mind, he goes on a killing spree in Joplin that had grown men wishing they'd never been born.

Down and out Mustafa came crashing down.

He needed money fast. So he called some old friends who pretended to never even know him, which forced him to do it the old fashion way.

Now with money and a cool buzz Mustafa made his way north. This time in tow. Nothing is going to stop Mustafa from reaching "Destination Freedom".

Nothing, that is, except a snow storm. It is Canada... in the winter. I mean... come on. What was he expecting?

a day in the life of a good looking high school senior

first i want to say that i am honored to be posting on your family's blog. i hope i dont let anyone down. i know you are all very funny and i will try to live up to your expectations. i thought it would be a great idea to explain who i am and how i came across your family website. that picture is a picture of my high school, cambridge springs high school, my attendance isnt the greatest. my mom thinks i have a half day today, but i came home because i had blog work to do. cambridge springs high school has about 621 students, and i know everyone of them. i meet new people in detention everyday. like i said it's hard being a good looking high school senior. for those who have no clue where cambridge springs is, its about 40 miles from erie pa.

i know everyone likes pictures so i will give you what you guys like. well you know my name is jimmy. my friends call me jim, jimbo, jimmy, and plinko. i play baseball at cambridge springs high, and thats about as active as i get. i have been the starting short stop since 9th grade. it's not that big of a deal, everyone makes the baseball team. our waterboy who is 15, is also our DH at times. so here is what you need to know about the man jimmy.

i was born on september 6, 1989. this was a picture of me when i was a young boy learning how to read. like all of you i learn from pictures and not text. wasnt i a cute kid? my dad taught me how to read. he always made me learn in the bathroom. this is still my mom reading me my playboy magazine before i laid down for my nap. since i was a only child at the time my room was flooded with toys. but i only concentrated on ms. november.

my mom always dressed me up in strange and funny clothes. for my first birthday i was forced to wear that silly looking hat and pose for pictures. i still have that hat and wear it out sometimes.

i was quickly growing up before my parents eyes. once i hit puberty it was downhill for me. lucky for me my dad prepared me by giving me that talk. that every kid dreads hearing. ya know like where babies come from (i just found that out yesterday), sex, drugs, growing up. but i sat there and listened to his lecture so i wouldnt be punished. but the next thing i knew i grew up. i couldnt understand why i couldnt just stay being a kid.

now here is the jimmy you know today. a 17 year old senior exploring life and deciding what college to go to. i could see myself a yale or duke graduate. but maybe mcdonalds university is in my planbook. like i said before its hard being a high school senior. there are many pressures that go with that title. on a daily basis i have to fight off a handful of girls that ask me to prom. i am not sure how to say no. maybe you guys could give me some advice.

i guess ill have to wait for britney spears to ask me to the prom. in the meantime i will concentrate on baseball, school, and someday college.

thats the waterboy i was talking to you about earlier. me and my friends skipped class the one day to go to the computer lab. i try and hide my report card from my parents. can anyone of you sign for it you think? well so thats all you need to know about your pal JIMMY. its almost my bedtime too. my mom thinks i have been working on my homework for HOURS.

thanks for letting me blog. i doubt i will get 100 comments. but i will tell my 621 people to check out the website. its almost my bedtime. kdh when do i start? you have to give me two weeks notice to tell my teachers.
