A picture is worth a thousand words and memories we will forever cherish.
Left to right:
Lillian, Momma, Fred, Grandpa, Corrine, and Bessie.

Our cousin posted this picture on social media. It was the first time many of us had seen this. We questioned the year, Eleanor thought 1930 (but, grandpa would have been 12). She checked the back of the photo and no date was indicated.

Later on in the evening, still we discussed it. I told Eleanor that I thought it was 1943. Gramps looks to be in his military uniform. Eleanor asked what made us think that year, we explained. She messaged us back and said she looked at the photo again and there was a date, June, 1943.

Our patriarch turns 100!

As we all gear up for important milestones this year, we must pause and recognize we wouldn't be able to reach those milestones without the leader of our trip our great-grandpa, Gramps, and father, Charles F. Holtz. Sr. We will get together in March to raise a glass, share a laugh, possibly shed a tear for one of the reasons we are all here. Happy Birthday, Gramps!
